Lil Yachty Settles Infringement Lawsuit With NFT Company

Lil Yachty has settled an infringement lawsuit against an NFT company. The company allegedly used NFTs bearing the 25-year-old’s name to rake in millions of dollars. Moreover, the case is one of the more high-profile incidents surrounding the legality of NFTs. Indeed, the revolutionary nature of NFTs has created a legal grey area. Subsequently, Several legal cases have popped up that seek to establish what is and isn’t allowed.

Rolling Stone first reported in January that Yachty had filed a lawsuit alleging trademark infringement. Moreover, the lawsuit was filed against an NFT seller called Opulous. The company is accused of using Yachty’s name and image to raise more than $6 million in venture capital funds. The company allegedly advertised the “Lil Yachty NFT Collection.” Buyers were allegedly told that the collection would include access to the rapper’s music. However, Yachty says he has never been affiliated with the company. Additionally, the “Poland” rapper says he never received any of the money the company raised.

Lil Yachty’s Latest Single, “Strike (Holster)” Has Arrived: Stream

2023 has been a fantastic year for music so far already, especially in the realm of hip-hop and R&B. Just one of the many artists contributing to that is Lil Yachty, who ended January with the arrival of his featureless Let’s Start Here. album. The 14-track record finds the SoundCloud star feeling more experimental than ever before, a trend he continues on his latest offering, “Strike (Holster).”

The single arrived in time for New Music Friday (April 7), and was teased by Yachty on social media earlier this week. Unsurprisingly, his good friend Drake even gave him a co-sign while promoting his own contribution for this weekend, “Search & Rescue.” An accompanying visual has yet to drop, though HypeBae notes that Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett was the first to tease Lil Boat’s with a music video preview.

Lil Yachty Returns with “Strike (Holster)”

While Let’s Start Here saw Yachty exploring the sounds of psychedelic, ’70s rock, “Strike (Holster)” seemingly takes the rapper back to his roots. The single comes via Quality Control and Motown Records and finds the 25-year-old lyricizing over production by Teddy Walton and Aaron Bow. “You know that shit look real when you already do / You know the guys sip on drank ’til it’s early, yeah,” his first verse begins. “All this Bottega shit I shop at, Berlin just did / Drank man had cracked the seal, I begged him to sell it too,” Boat later adds.

It remains unclear in the latest release is a prelude to an upcoming project, or simply the Georgia native proving to his long-time fans that he still has the rap skills they previously revered him for. Stream Lil Yachty’s “Strike (Holster)” on YouTube above, or add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Afterward, make sure to tell us your thoughts on the new single in the comments. Drake Releases His New Single “Search & Rescue”

Drake hinted at a new project when he performed at the Apollo Theater and it looks like he wasn’t joking. The Her Loss rapper debuted his new single, known as “Rescue Me” on OVO Sound Radio last Friday. Following a joint project with 21 Savage and a foray into house music, the record felt like a return to form for Drake, even down to the petty addition of a Kim Kardashian sample. Overall, fans hoped that the record would finally drop on DSPs, and this morning, he delivered.

The Certified Lover Boy is back in his bag on his new single, “Search & Rescue.” SadPony and BNXY (with additional help from Lil Yachty, 40, Wesley Curtis, and BEAUTIFULMVN) form the moody production while Drizzy’s kicking emotive melodies which are riddled with a touch of auto-tune. The song stays to its original form with the Kim Kardashian sample, as well, while Drake reflects on his search for true love and settling with one woman.

Drake Comes Back Strong

With the release of “Search & Rescue,” we hope that this means Drake’s revving up to drop off some new heat before the summer. Sure, he just blessed us with Her Loss only a few months ago but he already began teasing Scary Hours 3. Though there hasn’t been any clear indication if it’ll drop later this year, it’s hard to think that Drake was simply being generous when he shared his new single.

The song also comes on the heels of Drake’s performance at Dreamville Festival. Drizzy and J. Cole co-headlined Sunday night with a star-studded spectacle. While Cole brought fans through a journey of his catalog, Drake pulled out some show-stopping guest appearances. Lil Uzi Vert, GloRilla, Lil Wayne and 21 Savage came through to perform a few songs. Later this year, Drake and 21 will embark on the It’s All A Blur tour in support of Her Loss. Check out “Search & Rescue” above.

Lil Yachty’s New Single ‘Strike (Holster)’ Radiates A Truly Stellar And Psychedelic Vibe

Just months after dropping his critically-acclaimed album, Let’s Start Here, Lil Yachty is back with some new music. Tonight (April 7), the rapper has shared a smooth new single called “Strike (Holster)”

On this new song, Yachty continues playing with the psychedelic sounds he utilized on Let’s Start Here, this time, over a silky, trippy beat, reminiscent to Tame Impala and Blood Orange.

“I was tryna strike sh*t, I was tryna strike sh*t / I was tryna strike sh*t, like a match, late night, yeah / Strike like I missed it, strike like I hit the pin / Strike like I’m not goin’ to work, strike, strike,” he rap-sings on the song’s chorus.

While we’re not sure if Yachty’s latest cut is an outtake from Let’s Start Here, or the beginning of a new era, we can expect him to put out more music with confidence in the future. In a recent interview with Billboard, he revealed that he feels better about his music now more than ever.

“I was always kind of nervous to put out music, but now I’m on some other sh*t,” Yachty said. “It was a lot of self-assessing and being very real about not being happy with where I was musically, knowing I’m better than where I am. Because the sh*t I was making did not add up to the sh*t I listened to.

Lil Boat Comes Through for New Music Friday

While details surrounding the quickly approaching single remain sparse at this time, fans have made it known in the comments that they’re eager to hear Lil Boat’s latest work. Lil Yachty And Diana Gordon Brightened The Room With A Performance Of ‘Drive Me Crazy On ‘Saturday Night Live’

In his second performance of the night, Lil Yachty shared “Drive Me Crazy,” a standout track from Let’s Start Here on the Saturday Night Live stage.

Once again, joined by his all-women backing band, Yachty brought out Diana Gordon, who flawlessly sang the song’s intro. Yachty, dressed in jeans, a blue-stripped button-down shirt, and a large fur trapper hat, delivered soft, soothing vocals, as he sang the song’s second verse and chorus.

This performance was more vibrant than Yachty’s first of the night, as the stage was lit up with a background of clouds in the blue sky. Yachty, Gordon, and the band all maintained their rockstar energy.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Yachty revealed that he initially felt anxious about sharing his earlier music with the world. But since making a pivot to psychedelic rock sounds with Let’s Start Here, he feels a lot more confident.

“I was always kind of nervous to put out music, but now I’m on some other sh*t,” Yachty says. “It was a lot of self-assessing and being very real about not being happy with where I was musically, knowing I’m better than where I am. Because the sh*t I was making did not add up to the sh*t I listened to.”

Lil Yachty Was In Rockstar Mode During A Performance Of ‘The Black Seminole’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Lil Yachty is maintaining his momentum after having dropped his critically-acclaimed fourth album, Let’s Start Here back in January. Tonight (April 1), Yachty made his debut on the Saturday Night Live stage, where he performed, “The Black Seminole,’ the opening track from the album.

During the performance, Yachty maintained an air of mystery, wearing dark sunglasses and a hoodie. The stage was lit with blue and black lighting, and filled with plants and greenery. In the background was a flashing moon surrounded by a rainbow. Yachty was accompanied by an all-women backing band, for which he had posted a call for auditions back in January.

In an interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, he elaborated on why he wanted to assemble an all-women band.

“I just feel like women don’t get as much respect as men when it comes to the music industry,” said Yachty. “So I was like, ‘These songs are pretty badass, and I want to show women playing them.”

Midway through the performance, the beat transitioned to a smooth, vocal interlude, performed by Diana Gordon, who delivered smooth, impeccable sounds, dressed in an elegant ivory gown.
