Lil Yachty’s Latest Single, “Strike (Holster)” Has Arrived: Stream

2023 has been a fantastic year for music so far already, especially in the realm of hip-hop and R&B. Just one of the many artists contributing to that is Lil Yachty, who ended January with the arrival of his featureless Let’s Start Here. album. The 14-track record finds the SoundCloud star feeling more experimental than ever before, a trend he continues on his latest offering, “Strike (Holster).”

The single arrived in time for New Music Friday (April 7), and was teased by Yachty on social media earlier this week. Unsurprisingly, his good friend Drake even gave him a co-sign while promoting his own contribution for this weekend, “Search & Rescue.” An accompanying visual has yet to drop, though HypeBae notes that Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett was the first to tease Lil Boat’s with a music video preview.

Lil Yachty Returns with “Strike (Holster)”

While Let’s Start Here saw Yachty exploring the sounds of psychedelic, ’70s rock, “Strike (Holster)” seemingly takes the rapper back to his roots. The single comes via Quality Control and Motown Records and finds the 25-year-old lyricizing over production by Teddy Walton and Aaron Bow. “You know that shit look real when you already do / You know the guys sip on drank ’til it’s early, yeah,” his first verse begins. “All this Bottega shit I shop at, Berlin just did / Drank man had cracked the seal, I begged him to sell it too,” Boat later adds.

It remains unclear in the latest release is a prelude to an upcoming project, or simply the Georgia native proving to his long-time fans that he still has the rap skills they previously revered him for. Stream Lil Yachty’s “Strike (Holster)” on YouTube above, or add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Afterward, make sure to tell us your thoughts on the new single in the comments. She ain’t me, coppin’ SRTs and do FruityLoops
He can’t play big bank, I switch out whips like they switch out shoes

Lil Yachty’s New Single ‘Strike (Holster)’ Radiates A Truly Stellar And Psychedelic Vibe

Just months after dropping his critically-acclaimed album, Let’s Start Here, Lil Yachty is back with some new music. Tonight (April 7), the rapper has shared a smooth new single called “Strike (Holster)”

On this new song, Yachty continues playing with the psychedelic sounds he utilized on Let’s Start Here, this time, over a silky, trippy beat, reminiscent to Tame Impala and Blood Orange.

“I was tryna strike sh*t, I was tryna strike sh*t / I was tryna strike sh*t, like a match, late night, yeah / Strike like I missed it, strike like I hit the pin / Strike like I’m not goin’ to work, strike, strike,” he rap-sings on the song’s chorus.

While we’re not sure if Yachty’s latest cut is an outtake from Let’s Start Here, or the beginning of a new era, we can expect him to put out more music with confidence in the future. In a recent interview with Billboard, he revealed that he feels better about his music now more than ever.

“I was always kind of nervous to put out music, but now I’m on some other sh*t,” Yachty said. “It was a lot of self-assessing and being very real about not being happy with where I was musically, knowing I’m better than where I am. Because the sh*t I was making did not add up to the sh*t I listened to.

Lil Yachty Teases New Music Dropping This Friday

We’re already a quarter of the way through 2023, and so far, the year has seen the arrival of some undeniably awesome music from artists of practically every genre. Back in January, Lil Yachty surprised fans by switching up his sound on Let’s Start Here., on which he delivered an impressive 14 featureless tracks. Some favourites from the project are “drive ME crazy!” and “the BLACK seminole.,” both of which the rapper performed during his iconic appearance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. Aside from those titles, listeners have also been loving “pRETTy,” “sAy sOMETHINg,” and “the ride-.”

After giving his fifth studio album some time to digest, Yachty finally announced his return via Instagram on Tuesday (April 4). This afternoon, he unveiled the cover art for an upcoming single, seemingly called “Strike (Holster),” on social media. At the same time, he also confirmed that the track will arrive on DSPs this coming Friday (April 7). In the song’s close-up image, we see a man’s face baring his gold-cap-covered teeth, potentially hinting at some angsty-but-braggadocious vibes on the upcoming release.

Lil Boat Comes Through for New Music Friday

While details surrounding the quickly approaching single remain sparse at this time, fans have made it known in the comments that they’re eager to hear Lil Boat’s latest work. Producer Zack Bia also dropped by the replies to tease more heat coming to us in the future, writing, “Wait ’til they hear what else you got in the vault.” Another artist, Teddy Walton, acknowledged Yachty’s more recent experimental vibes with his response. “We bout to switch the sound,” he noted, generating even more excitement about the upcoming track.
