Lil Uzi Vert Allegedly Threw A Phone And Hit A Fan In The Face During His Wireless Festival Set

A number of hip-hop and R&B acts took their talents to London for this past weekend’s Wireless Festival. The bill promised performances from big names like J. Cole, ASAP Rocky, Tyler The Creator, Playboi Carti, Roddy Ricch, Don Toliver, Trippie Redd, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and more. Lil Uzi Vert was also among the performers at Wireless, and while his set was certainly an electric one, it appeared that things got out of hand and resulted in a fan getting injured.

A woman took to TikTok, under the username @ccornonmycob, and claimed in a pair of videos that she was hit in the head with a phone that Lil Uzi threw into the crowd during his Wireless set.

“So as some of you guys may know, there is a video of Lil Uzi Vert throwing a phone into the Wireless crowd 2022 on Friday,” she said in the video. “I am sadly that chick that got their head smashed in by the phone. There was someone else but I don’t really want to mention him in case it is not permitted, but yes, there was some damage caused. But the guy got his phone back and everything is being dealt with.”

She continued, “For those who are asking why I didn’t move out the way, if you have been to Wireless Festival before, you will know how packed the crowd is. There is no space to move, and even if there was, I think the reaction time with the phone landing wouldn’t have been enough to actually move out the way in time. And even if I did, it would have hit someone either way. It wouldn’t have hit the floor first — it was head to head.”

A source close to the situation shared a statement with XXL. “During Uzi’s set at Wireless Fest, fans threw multiple cellphones onto the stage and inadvertently struck him,” they said. “He merely attempted to clear the phones from the stage, avoid slipping and safely continue his performance — he never intentionally directed it at a specific individual.”

Bad Bunny And Tyler The Creator Headline Made In America Festival’s Incredible 2022 Lineup

Tyler The Creator and Bad Bunny are set to headline the 2022 edition of Made In America, alongside an impressive selection of international stars. The festival returns to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on Labor Day Weekend, September 3-4 with Lil Uzi Vert, Jazmine Sullivan, Burna Boy, Snoh Aalegra, Kodak Black, Pusha T, Lil Tjay, Tate Mcrae, Fuerza Regida, Toro Y Moi, Babyface Ray, Key Glock, Larry June, Rels B, Victoria Monet, Chimbala, Ryan Castro, and more. Passes and more information are available at madeinamericafest.com/.

Made In America celebrated its tenth-anniversary last year with headliners Justin Bieber and Lil Baby, although technically, the tenth event will be this year due to 2020’s COVID-related cancelation.

It’s shaping up to be a pretty stacked summer for music festivals, as Day N Vegas also announced its lineup today featuring headliners J. Cole, SZA, and Travis Scott, who is returning after a months-long hiatus after his own Astroworld Festival in 2021 ended with 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries. We’ve already seen The Roots Picnic this month, while HARD Summer and iHeartRadio are set to take place later in the year. If you’re any kind of music fan, you’ll certainly have plenty of opportunities to catch your faves live at some point — if you can decide which one of the dozen or so fests coming this year you want to spring for.

Lil Uzi Vert Doesn’t Think Jack Harlow Has White Privilege

Although Jack Harlow is one of the most beloved new artists to emerge out of the pandemic years, not everyone has enjoyed watching his meteoric rise. Sure, his new album Come Home The Kids Miss You landed at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, while its single “First Class” has been a recurring fixture at No. 1 on the Hot 100, but there are some who don’t think Jack came by his success honestly, citing his race as a big reason he was able to blow up so quickly.

However, his labelmate Lil Uzi Vert doesn’t see it that way, telling TMZ, “Nah, he doesn’t have white privilege…he’s signed to Black people.” You can see the video below.

While Uzi’s vote of confidence likely means a lot to his fellow Generation Now artist, Jack himself has regularly acknowledged that being white has afforded him opportunities he wouldn’t have otherwise. Uzi’s apparent misunderstanding of the term notwithstanding, Jack has received similar criticisms to Post Malone in his early career, albeit without some of the more obvious missteps. Most recently, though, Jack got flamed on Twitter for not knowing that Brandy and Ray J are siblings, stoking the debate over his status in hip-hop and provoking a good-natured lyrical response from Brandy herself.

It’ll always be a prickly topic, but the discussion is important to continue having to ensure that as the culture grows and changes, we never forget where it came from and continue to give credit to its creators.

Lil Uzi Vert Is Confident That His Next Album A “Classic”

HenryHwu @henryhwu LilUziVert04 2

A few weeks ago, Lil Uzi told fans to expect “classic mode” on his new album. However, over the weekend when the XO Tour Life rapper released a snippet of his new music, fans felt other wise.

Fans went as far as saying he “fell off” when they heard the preview.

Of course, Baby Pluto responded with a series of tweets of his own. In his response, he still felt confident despite the negative comments. Uzi wrote in a tweet. “I am stepping bad on this album and y’all ain’t hear nothin maybe alil but nothin. Trust me.”

It’s been two years since Uzi dropped his  Eternal Atake and its deluxe version in 2020. Eternal Atake went two week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums. Uzi Vert is confident that his next album will reach the same success.
