Anycia Continues To Flourish With Latto Collab “BACK OUTSIDE”

Just days ago, DJ Akademiks found footage of Latto recording a music video for a brand-new single. Fans were hyped for it and now we have it. However, this is not a Latto song. Rising fellow Atlanta femcee Anycia takes the reigns on this cut. “BACK OUTSIDE” is the 26-year-old’s fourth collaboration single since she began releasing music to streaming in late 2022.

Anycia has worked with more underground names like MVW, Robb Bank$, and up-and-comer KARRAHBOOO. So, this is a big moment for the young artist. She possesses a deep and low-key voice that exudes confidence. You can find this similar energy on tracks like “BRB” and “SPLASH BROTHERS,” for example.

Listen To “BACK OUTSIDE” By Anycia And Latto

Latto brings her usual solid flows over a horn-backed trap beat provided by Jetsonmade. Anycia spoke with BET about how this sudden wave of success has changed her life. “The best thing that I’ve gotten out of everything is the instant confidence boost. I feel superduper more love, and it’s not even so much from the outside. It’s an internal thing.” She continues, “It’s kind of one of those things where you tell yourself you can’t do something or you have every doubt in the world that it won’t work or just thinking about all the things that will go wrong. And then you finally do it and it works.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “BACK OUTSIDE,” by Anycia and Latto? Who had the better performance on the song and why? Is Anycia going to turn herself into a star by the end of 2024? Is Latto still the best rapper from Atlanta? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Anycia And Latto Are ‘Back Outside’ To Show Off Atlanta’s Southside With A Gritty New Collaboration

If there’s one thing Latto is going to do, it’s to pay homage to Atlanta. Throughout her music, the Clayco native never misses a chance to big up the city that made her a household name. Latto’s latest guest appearance on Anycia’s new song “Back Outside” is just the latest of many dirty South collaborations to come.

The record, co-produced by JetsonMade, brings rap fans into the gritty sound of the city’s south end. “I’m a southside b*tch to the grave / I’m a real ass b*tch to the tomb / Million dollar convos on Zoom, get wet I don’t gotta use lube / You a friendly-ass b*tch, I’m rude / Popped out with a brand-new dude / Popped out with a brand-new team / Walked in, smell good, I’m tea,” raps Anycia.

Latto echos that same matter-of-fact energy across her verse, rapping, “I’m a Southside b*tch to the grave / I’m a Southside b*tch to the hearse / Hop out the G-Wag, hop out the vert / M’s off brand deals, M’s off merch / Got a b*tch driveway looking like Hertz.”

When the musical link-up was teased in 2023, users online pushed back against it, demanding Latto work with “more established artists.” But she quickly shut that down, pouring love into Anycia, who has been building up a solid discography for herself.

Anycia took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank Latto for being so supportive.

Latto, Ludacris & DJ Khaled Join “Rhythm + Flow” Season 2 As Judges

Netflix’s hip-hop sensation, Rhythm + Flow, is making a triumphant return after a five-year hiatus. Promising a second season that’s set to elevate the stakes and amplify the beats. The show, which previously anointed Grammy-nominated MC D Smoke as its inaugural champion and boasted guest judges like Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I., is shaking up its lineup for the upcoming season. However, it’s a pretty significant change this time around. The new panel of judges features none other than the dynamic trio of Latto, DJ Khaled, and Ludacris. But wait, there’s more! Eminem will step in as a special guest judge during the “Battle Round” competition.

In addition to this star-studded judging panel, Netflix’s VP of nonfiction series, Brandon Riegg, expressed the excitement surrounding the evolution of hip-hop. “We are taking things up a notch with a new cast of global hitmakers in our judges and a new pool of undiscovered artists,” he stated. It’s not just about seasoned mentors; it’s about the fusion of legendary insight from Ludacris, Latto, and DJ Khaled, coupled with Eminem’s unique brand of advice.

Moreover, the show is one that has changed peoples’ lives and has provided a platform for success. D Smoke, the artist who won the first season for example, has seen heights in his career. He was even nominated for two Grammys: best new artist and best rap album. “I’ve trained myself to not look too far into things until they materialize,” D Smoke told Billboard “I figured if I didn’t raise my expectations too much then there’s no real disappointment to experience. But in doing so, once the news came I was through the roof. Literally, my voice is tired today from all the yelling I’ve been doing.”

Furthermore, Riegg highlighted the transformative mentorship that has taken place in previous seasons, catapulting contestants to global recognition. The anticipation is palpable as these industry titans gear up to guide a fresh wave of talent on their journeys. Rhythm + Flow is not just a show; it’s a platform that propels musical geniuses into the limelight, captivating audiences worldwide.

The post Latto, Ludacris & DJ Khaled Join “Rhythm + Flow” Season 2 As Judges appeared first on HotNewHipHop.

When Does ‘Rhythm + Flow’ Season 2 Come Out?

After nearly five years, Netflix has announced the return of Rhythm + Flow for season 2. The first season, which aired in 2019, featured judges Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I. critiquing a crew of unsigned rappers as they competed for a $250,000 grand prize.

Guest judges on the show included Anderson .Paak, Big Boi, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Killer Mike, Lupe Fiasco, Nipsey Hussle, Quavo, and Snoop Dogg, among others, and the winner, D Smoke, was eventually nominated for three Grammy Awards.

When Does Rhythm + Flow Season 2 Come Out?

Netflix hasn’t revealed when the second season — which was originally scheduled to air in 2021 — will begin streaming on the platform, it has shared a few details, including the new lineup of judges.

The new judges on Rhythm + Flow will include DJ Khaled, moving up from his guest judging duties in season one; Latto, who started her career as the winner of Lifetime’s The Rap Game, making her uniquely suited to the role; and Ludacris, whose rap success has led to an equally successful film career.

One guest judge that has been teased is Eminem, who will oversee the rap battle challenge, playing on his own career as a battle rapper.

More details will be revealed closer to the release date. You can watch season 1 of Rhythm + Flow on Netflix.

Netflix’s Rap Talent Show ‘Rhythm + Flow’ Is Coming Back After Nearly Five Years For Season 2 With Eminem

Does anyone remember Rhythm + Flow, Netflix’s rap competition series from several years ago? It starred Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, and T.I. as judges and helped launch the indie rap career of Inglewood MC D Smoke, whose debut album Black Habits was nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy in 2021.

You’d be forgiven for forgetting the show, or for thinking that it had suffered the fate of so many other Netflix originals and been canceled after its first season. After all, the last we heard about a second season was nearly four years ago, and it was supposed to air sometime in 2021, but never did. However, it looks like the show is definitely returning, with Netflix posting the announcement of season 2 on its YouTube page.

It also looks like the show was retooled during its hiatus, bringing a new set of judges in addition to another batch of young rap hopefuls. This season, contestants will be judged by DJ Khaled, Latto (herself a veteran of the comp show circuit), and Ludacris — a decidedly less controversial trio than the original lineup — and special guest judge Eminem, who’ll oversee the rap battle round (naturally).

The grand prize will be $250,000 — enough to launch a career with — and more information will likely be made available soon. You can still check out season 1 here.

Did Latto Diss Nicki Minaj On Her New Song?

Just when you thought Latto had settled her beef with Nicki Minaj, it looks like she’s starting the new year with a renewed fire for roasting her nemesis.

Sharing a behind-the-scenes clip from a recent video shoot for “Back Outside,” the upcoming single from fellow Atlanta rapper Anycia, Latto has once again sparked speculation that she’s got words for her primary antagonist. In the clip, Latto and Anycia sit on the porch of a house rapping their verses while surrounded by supporters. Latto’s verse has perked up fans’ ears as she opens with a declaration that “I’m turnt / Got auntie mad, she burnt.”

Naturally, plenty of fans have jumped to the conclusion that “auntie” refers to Nicki Minaj, with whom Latto had a rather loud spat in 2022. The “Put It On Da Floor” rapper snapped on her onetime hero after Nicki complained about being placed in a “pop” category for the next year’s Grammy Awards. When Nicki said Latto’s hit “Big Energy” belonged in the pop category too, Latto accused the elder rapper of being a “bully,” pointing out that not only is Nicki the same age as Latto’s mom, but she also spent a year shading the younger rapper.

Nicki clapped back, calling Latto a “Karen” — which, are we sure she knows what that’s supposed to mean? — and earning some “this you?”-style tweets from observers in the process. Things appeared to have cooled off until Coachella, when Latto debuted “Put It On Da Floor,” on which she raps, “She thought I would kiss her ass, she must ain’t took her meds.”

All of this is to say that, yes, Latto very probably is referring to Nicki with her “Back Outside” verse, as she doesn’t seem to be finished dragging the queen for trying to downplay her success.

Latto Previews Upcoming Single And Fans Are Loving It

Latto has been shaking up the hip-hop world ever since she stepped foot in the genre a few years ago. Furthermore, when you have a widespread fan base and have the hits under your belt like she does, fans are going to want more. The Columbus-born femcee did provide quite a bit of solid material in 2023. She was a part of some major collaborations with artists like Mike WiLL Made-It, Swae Lee, Jung Kook, Young Nudy, Sexyy Red, Jay Rock, and so many more.

The team-up with Jung on “Seven” became the fastest song to reach one billion streams ever. It took just three and half months to pass that mark, making it a truly remarkable feat. In terms of solo material, Latto delivered “Put It On Da Floor” and its sequel with Cardi B and “ISSA PARTY” featuring BabyDrill. It will be tough to top all of that success, but Latto is looking to go for it all in 2024.
