While some of these include actions that he should be accountable for, he’s also been pretty open about how his substance abuse has affected his life. Following a recent jail stint and a lot of concerned fan expressions, the Florida rapper recently took to Instagram Live to illustrate his journey of recovery. Specifically, he pointed to kicking his Percocet habit as a pivotal factor in being happier than he’s ever been right now, and this is a heartening step in the right direction.

“I remember a point in my life when I was chewing a lot of Percs,” Kodak Black began. “Bro, I’m proud of myself. I’ve never been this happy in my life, bro. I don’t know where this came from, what the f**k going on. I ain’t even going to say I’m anti-Perc. Like, I never took a Perc since I been home. But bro, my dosage so low that I can’t believe it myself. Man, I’m telling y’all, bro.

“Before I just went to jail, bro, I was taking… I can talk about this because it’s my testimony,” Kodak Black continued. “Bro, I’m hollering at y’all, ain’t no shame in my s**t. I was taking, bro, at least 100 Percs. Bro, my average was 40 Percocets. I’m telling y’all this man. I ain’t know -– to the point where I look at this s**t and be like, what the f**k was wrong with me, bruh? Furthermore, this still hasn’t resulted in the Pistolz & Pearlz artist refraining from some other wild or notably bizarre moments on social media. Even though he just welcomed another child into the world with Maranda Johnson, some fans think Kodak Black is moving on fast. Moreover, he recently posted his old flame and fellow rapper Mellow Rackz on his Instagram Story. “& she Zoe She Outta Broward [sunglasses emoji] [fingers crossed emoji],” the Florida MC captioned one of the posts, whereas another reportedly reads “You can’t tell me nothing… because I prayed for this love.” For those unaware, the two had a thing going in 2021, but ended up falling out over time, and this seems like quite the oddly timed moment to get back into it.

Regardless, Kodak Black’s recent release from prison has him celebrating a lot these days, so maybe he’s just trying to reconnect with people in his past and do better by them. What’s more is that he’s also making sure to show appreciation for those who helped him along the way. Kodak Black Still In Prison Despite Dropped Drug Possession Charge

Kodak Black is still in significant legal trouble and behind bars right now, despite a judge dismissing his drug possession charges stemming from a December 2023 arrest. Moreover, according to The Associated Press, Judge Barbara Duffy dropped this charge on Friday (February 9), but she and the court ordered him to stay in prison. This is because the Florida rapper still faces evidence tampering charges in this specific case, and if those are dismissed, only then will he see freedom. Concerning this December 7 arrest, prosecutors could not verify whether or not his claims of actually having an oxycodone prescription are true.

Furthermore, law enforcement officials searched Kodak Black’s vehicle that day in Plantation, Florida. They found him sleeping in his Bentley’s driver’s seat. They claimed they found a substance similar to cocaine within, which he tried to discard of and even ingest orally. Still, the 26-year-old maintained that this was not cocaine at all, but rather the aforementioned and prescribed oxycodone in his possession. Not only that, but he claimed that this was to deal with injuries sustained during a nightclub shooting in Los Angeles in February of 2022.

This arrest caused Yak’s bond to be revoked, and got hit with the two aforementioned charges plus illegal parking. However, his lawyer Bradford Cohen hopes that this will lead to a dismissal of the evidence tampering charge, as well. “I wasn’t surprised,” he stated concerning Judge Duffy’s decision to drop the drug charges, according to the Sun-Sentinel. “Whenever a court follows the rule of law, I’m never surprised. I’m surprised when they don’t follow the rule of law, that’s when I’m surprised.” Not only does Kodak Black’s attorney want him free from jail, but he also wants his bond reinstated.

If you came across this article, you probably don’t need their volatile relationship explained to you. To get the gist across, though, she is now back to openly supporting and loving him as her partner after years of physical altercations, cheating accusations, toxic behavior, his denial of his fatherhood of their child Chrisean Jr., and pitting his other girlfriend Jaidyn Alexis against her. Needless to say, a lot of folks online wanted her to simply move on with her life and never get that close to him again, and vice versa.

Unfortunately for them, we’re back at the starting line of this cyclical race, but not everyone is unhappy with it. An interesting debacle in this case centers around the police officer who arrested Kodak Black mistakenly identifying the drugs found in his vehicle when the procedure took place. “The cop says crack cocaine, and it turned out to be oxycodone,” his attorney Bradford Cohen expressed. “I don’t know how an error like that happens. I’ve never seen in my career of 27 years where an officer tested an oxycodone pill, and it came back positive for cocaine. This officer was either grossly neglectful, incompetent, or a liar. It’s one of those three.”

Kodak Black Supports Israeli Hostages & Advocates For Their Freedom In New Clip

Kodak Black is currently in federal custody on drug-related charges, but not all of his public statements and developments fall under that negative light. As a complex figure in the hip-hop world right now, he’s always felt pulled apart at both ends: one of which shows the dark side of his struggles, and another that sees him try to emerge to the light from within them. On that last note, TMZ recently obtained a video of the Florida rapper reportedly recorded before he went back into federal prison. In it, he calls for the liberation of Israeli hostages in the conflict between the nation’s government and Hamas terrorists.

This conflict took thousands of civilian lives thus far, and with things not getting any better, hopefully this message reaches fans who wouldn’t have batted an eye otherwise. In addition, Kodak Black also showed off a ring of the Star of David and shouted out his Hebrew and Haitian heritage. Another cause for which he’s been a light advocate of is drug treatment reform, something which the court denied him during this recent incarceration. Given all of Yak’s legal complications up to this point, this will likely be a very tough case to navigate.

Kodak Black’s recent arrest for drug possession apparently landed him in federal prison, according to Miami-Dade County’s website. Moreover, NBC 6 reported that violated his probation terms as a result of this detainment, which has only further complicated this legal process. For those unaware, the rapper already faced a lot of charges in the past, multiple parole violations, and added antics that exacerbate the effects of previous arrests. As such, it is sadly unsurprising to hear that the court has not yet indicated when he will be able to leave, although his next hearing is scheduled for December 19. At least the Pompano Beach native was able to attend Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s Miami rave for their collab album Vultures earlier this week following bond.

Furthermore, the last update we got on Kodak Black’s legal case was his attorney Bradford Cohen clearing up the aforementioned drug bust. While many reports indicated that he had cocaine at the time, his lawyer denied these claims and said that it was Percocet, instead. This suggests that this will be a pretty contentious and conflictive legal battle if the “Roll In Peace” MC decides to fight for his side of the story in court. After all, this conflicts what the official arrest report read, so there are a couple of moving parts here which could prove to be misdirections.

Boosie Badazz and Kodak Black have some pretty contentious and, as of very recently, financially contingent beef to handle. Moreover, the former called out the latter on Sunday (November 19) for sampling his track “Let Me Ease Ya Mind” on his new song, “Eaze Your Mind.” While it’s not a direct interpolation or sample, the Baton Rouge MC still thinks that his Floridian rival took too much liberty with this cut. Furthermore, he blasted Yak both in tweet form and with a video uploaded to social media going over his grievances. In both instances, the 41-year-old made it clear that, even if they don’t get along, they could’ve still made money together.

“DAM @kodakblack,” Boosie’s tweet read, which linked the music video for Kodak Black’s record. “EVEN THO WE FELL OUT WE COULDA DID FAIR BUIZNESS #justbuizness.” For those unaware, the two were most recently at odds due to Kodak’s decision to collaborate with 6ix9ine on a song. Badazz wasn’t very approving of this, as he sticks to a pretty stringent and very vocal anti-snitch philosophy that, in his opinion, should keep any and all MCs out of the rainbow-haired provocateur’s way.

What might be the most direct and confrontational of them all, though, might just be his new feud with Latto stemming from their collaboration on her 2022 album, 777. Moreover, for those unaware, she had confessed that it was difficult to get an artist (that she kept anonymous) on the album because they wanted sexual favors in order to clear it. Then, fans online assumed that the femcee was talking about Yak, and he just came through with another response to the whole ordeal. According to him, Latto failed to clear his name after Internet accusations went wild, but this brings us no closer to the actual truth.

Basically, the conversation stemmed when N.O.R.E. was doing his typical “this or that” questions to Kodak Black. When asked to pick between Ice Spice and Latto, he sided with the Bronx MC because of the aforementioned situation. Overall, it’s a pretty difficult one to pin down, especially within the “he said, she said” framework that it falls under right now. While the Florida MC did address a lot with his remarks, it also drew a lot of concern from fans due to his seemingly erratic and volatile behavior. In fact, his industry peers particularly expressed worry about this, as they have more experience with the destructive path that they think he follows. Via an Instagram comment on the post below, which is still up as of writing this article, Ray J called folks to action when it comes to Yak’s health.

However, a lot of people both within and outside of the industry are decidedly less forgiving when it comes to this ordeal. Perhaps that’s an unfair assessment, though, as they really don’t seem to dismiss his struggles but rather his choices without the context that those issues display. For example Meek Mill came through with an Instagram comment of his own in the above post, which didn’t leave much room for sympathy. “I damn near don’t even wanna be labeled a rapper nomore,” the Philly MC shared, presumably concerning Kodak Black’s work with a snitch.

Of course, the Pompano Beach native is not free of critique and accountability, but both that and the need for him to seek counseling and support can be true. As long as the conversation centers around his antics and not his health, then these clout chases will continue because they work.
