Juice WRLD‘s mural in Chicago was mysteriously painted over. But don’t worry, a new one will be on the way.
Speaking with TMZ Hip-Hop, Juice WRLD‘s manager, Peter Jideonwo, revealed no one knows what happened to the original that was a spot frequently visited by fans nationwide. The art piece was created by Corey Pane and cost $50,000 to create.
The city of Chicago stepped in and also revealed that the paint used did not match the brands used by the city, stating there was no city action in the removal.
The forthcoming artwork is developing and will aim to be better than the original. Current plans call for a life-sized statue or mural to be placed in a protective covering.
Juice WRLD fans can rest easy now. Many were upset by the mural of the late artist being painted over. However, they can find solace in today’s news. According to TMZ, a new mural paying tribute to him is in the works. The person who painted over the original mural has still not been identified. According to the late rapper’s manager, Peter Jideonwo, he and the family are still unaware of who removed the beloved cultural landmark.
Since it was unveiled in 2020, thousands of fans traveled to Chicago to see the original mural. It was created in memory of Juice WRLD after he died from an overdose in December 2019. The artwork was commissioned by the 999 Squad for $50,000 and was painted by artist Corey Pane. Despite being in the early stages of planning, Peter and Juice’s team are considering how to make the new installation even better. Additionally, they want to make sure to protect it from potential vandalism or accidents. As such, they are considering the possibility of a life-sized statue or a mural that would be covered for protection.
Juice’s Continuing Legacy
Despite his untimely death, Juice WRLD has continued to achieve significant accomplishments in his music career. Last month, it was revealed that the rapper had surpassed 30 billion streams on Spotify alone. This achievement solidified his status as one of the most streamed artists of all time. One can only imagine how many streams Juice has when you include other platforms such as Apple Music and YouTube. Recently, Juice’s close friend and collaborator, Cole Bennet, celebrated a personal milestone in their careers by sharing on Instagram that the first music video he ever shot for Juice had reached 300 million views on YouTube.
Juice’s death was a huge blow to the music industry and community at large as he seemed to be one of the fastest-rising stars in the industry. Since passing, the rapper’s music has only become more popular. In 2021, the RIAA announced that the rapper had posthumously received 50 new platinum and gold song certifications. His 2018 single “Lucid Dreams” has gone 9x platinum. The rapper also currently holds the record for the highest number of streams per song on Spotify. Stay tuned to HNHH for the latest updates on Juice’s accomplishments and the new tribute planned in Chicago.
Juice WRLD, XXXTentacion, and Drake have topped the list of rappers with the most streams per song. All three artists topped 200 million streams per song on Spotify. Even with Spotify’s well-known low payout, the artists are earning quite a bit from numbers like that. Rounding out the list with just under 200 million are Travis Scott, Pop Smoke, and Kendrick Lamar, who all have upwards of 150 million streams per song. It is worth noting that both Juice and X achieved this record-breaking moment several years after they passed.
Whether or not their untimely deaths have anything to do with their streaming numbers cannot be confirmed. However, it is clear that the high number of streams per song shows just how much both Juice and X were loved by their fans. The pair were both poised to be huge names in the industry, but their lives were tragically cut short. Still, their staying power shows what an incredible impact they had in the time that they spent making music.
Juice WRLD Continues To Break Records Posthumously
Despite passing away prematurely, Juice WRLD’s music career has continued to achieve significant milestones. Just a few weeks ago, it was revealed that the rapper had exceeded 30 billion streams on Spotify alone. This established him as one of the most streamed artists ever. When you consider other platforms, it is difficult to imagine how many streams Juice has accumulated. Recently, Cole Bennet, Juice’s close friend and collaborator, celebrated a personal achievement in their careers. He announced on Instagram that the first music video he had ever directed for Juice had reached 300 million views on YouTube.

Juice Keeps Breaking Records Years After Passing
Today, it was revealed via the Our Generation Music Instagram account that Juice WRLD had broken a new record. The late rapper now holds the highest average streams per song. On average, each of his songs has received 212 million streams. The record is insane in and of itself, but particularly so for an artist who has passed away. Juice has not been around to promote his music, but he is still getting more streams than most other artists. It just goes to show the impact the rapper had on the scene.
Fans took to the comment section of the post to share their reactions to the news. As expected, there was nothing but love for the rapper. “Juice was really different,” said one user. Others chimed in to agree. “Too easy for mah boy,” another fan said. Many simply expressed their shock at the huge record Juice was able to break years after his death. It would be quite the feat for an artist who was alive and actively promoting. The fact that Juice WRLD can break these records more than three years after he passed is unheard of. Juice was his mentor, and they had plenty of plans to collaborate with one another. Now, however, LAROI is paying homage to the late rapper.

Cole Bennett is celebrating a new milestone on a video he shot with Juice WRLD. In a new post on Instagram, the famed music video director posted a tribute to the first video he shot with the late rapper. The two were frequent collaborators and, all in all, Bennett was responsible for 7 of Juice’s videos. They began their collaborative relationship in 2018 when he shot the video for Juice WRLD’s single “All Girls Are The Same.” Throughout their time working together, the director became one of Juice’s most outspoken supporters. As such, Bennett was devastated when Juice passed away in 2019.

Bennett Remembers Juice As A Friend
Cole Bennett and Juice WRLD were more than just collaborators. They were friends. In a new Instagram post, Bennett celebrated his first video with Juice reaching 300 million views. The post features several behind-the-scenes photos of the two shooting the video. Along with the photos, Bennett had some kind words to say about the rapper. “The first video Juice and I did together hit 300 million views today,” he said in the caption. “Try telling us that 5 years ago and we’d never believe it.”
After Juice WRLD’s tragic and untimely death, fans and friends gathered at the Chicago United Center in late 2021 to celebrate the life and impact of the singer. Bennett was one of many attendees, and he stepped on stage to deliver a touching message about the friendship between the two. “The narrative was always, you know Cole and Lyrical Lemonade were such a blessing to Juice’s career,” Bennett said. “And as time went on, I realized that he was really the blessing to me.” If Juice was alive today, he would no doubt feel the same about Bennett. Juice WRLD‘s death wasn’t just a loss for his family, fans, and friends, but it was also a huge loss for hip-hop as a whole. It was also a warning about the dangers of drug abuse since it was revealed he’d died of an accidental overdose on Oxycodone in late 2019.
Just like Juice WRLD said he was influenced to try drugs by one of his predecessors, his death has become a beacon to his successors. Among them is Juice’s fellow Chicagoan Polo G. In his episode of RapCaviar Presents, which began streaming on Hulu today, Polo recalls his friendship with Juice and how Juice encouraged him to give up taking pills recreationally.
“It made me look at a lot of sh*t differently,” he says. “That made me stop popping Percocets altogether, though. ‘Cause I know he wouldn’t want me on that sh*t.” Even more impactful, though, is that his father followed his example. “Being able to see that and say, ‘Damn, my son can get it together — I need to [as well],” he muses.
Now Polo G spends his spare cash on other distractions, like the iced-out iPhone holder he had turned into a pendant to keep his where everybody else can see it.
On last weekend’s Fire Emoji update, we chiefly heard new arrivals from artists like EST Gee, Lil Keed, 03 Greedo, and Skillibeng, among others. Today’s roster is arguably equally as impressive, kicking off with yet another must-hear from frequent studio teammates, Hit-Boy and Nas, called “The Tide.” The two artists trade bars on the already beloved new track, which is a part of the former’s new Surf Or Drown project.
Across the 11-song tracklist, Hit-Boy expertly connects with names like Dom Kennedy, Curren$y, Jay 305, and Devi Morrison. He also offers up two solo titles, “Big Hit Intro,” and “Composure Pt. 2,” proving that his skills take him much further than just producing. Following that on Fire Emoji comes another long-awaited collaboration – “Palisades, CA” from Larry June, The Alchemist, and Big Sean.
HNHH Fire Emoji Playlist
As fate would have it, today (March 25), is the latter rapper’s 35th birthday. It’s been some time since we’ve heard the father of one release anything on his own, so this new joint effort is being greatly appreciated by fans. As for solo titles on our playlist, Juice WRLD is holding it down with another posthumous single, “The Light,” reminding his fanbase of the joy he brought to their lives during his tragically short time on Earth.
More collaborative singles that caught our ear for this week’s Fire Emoji update include Internet Money’s “I Remember” featuring Roddy Ricch and Kodak Black as well as NLE Choppa and Lil Wayne’s new heat, “AIN’T GONNA ANSWER.” For female rap lovers, BIA came through with an incredible Timbaland single on New Music Friday, called “I’M THAT BITCH.”
Finally, JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown’s SCARING THE HOES project earned two spots on our playlist. So far, both “Fentanyl Tester” and “God Loves You” have surfaced as fan favourites, though more are sure to come as the album’s streams increase.

Juice WRLD left behind an abundance of music. The rapper’s known for his prolificacy in the booth, resulting in vaults worth of music that have surfaced one way or another. Some records leaked to the frustration of his team and family, while others have officially found their way on streaming services. This week, however, one of Juice WRLD’s closest collaborators and friends confirmed that we’ll be getting new music from him immediately.
DJ Scheme hit Twitter this morning where he confirmed that a new single from the Legends Never Die artist will finally hit DSPs. “New Juice tmrw.. [eyes emoji] ok good night,” he wrote on Twitter around 1:17 am EST. Though Lil Bibby or the rest of his team have confirmed the news, it looks like we can have new heat from Juice WRLD to look forward to this week. Perhaps, it’ll be one of the leaks that surfaced online over the past few months.
Juice WRLD’s Final Album Coming Soon
Since Juice WRLD’s passing in 2019, a pair of posthumous albums have dropped. His estate dropped Legends Never Die in 2020, which produced records like “Come & Go” ft Marshmello and “Wishing Well.” Then, in 2021, his team unveiled Fighting Demons, his second posthumous album. The project included huge collaborations alongside Justin Bieber, Suga of BTS, Polo G, and Trippie Redd. Ultimately, it became a massive commercial success that showcased how big of an artist Juice WRLD would’ve been if he was still alive.
Though fans have been able to enjoy Juice WRLD’s music over the past few years through the release of posthumous albums, Lil Bibby confirmed the next project will be the last. He shared a statement on Twitter in February where he explained that he wanted fans to “celebrate the life of Juice,” rather than mourn his death. “I want everyone that Juice loved while he was here to help celebrate, especially his fans who he loved! You guys have been the best fans an artist can have (Minus the death threats to Bibby),” he wrote. We’ll keep you posted on any updates surrounding his next album. For now, keep your eyes peeled for Juice WRLD’s new single, due out later today (March 22).
