Machine Gun Kelly Doesn’t ‘Want Any Smoke’ With Taylor Swift’s Fan Base As He Refuses To Diss Her

People, generally speaking, like Taylor Swift; The fact that her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, just became the first project to accumulate 1 billion Spotify streams in a single week is evidence of that. Pair that with the fact that her Swiftie fan base is a passionate crew and it’s not often that you see people dissing Swift. With that in mind (and also accounting for the fact that he just likes her), Machine Gun Kelly absolutely refused to go after Swift.

This happened on yesterday’s (April 24) episode of Hot Ones Versus, a spin-off of the popular Hot Ones series in which two celebrity guests play a version of truth or dare, in which they have to eat a spicy wing to avoid responding to a potentially difficult question or prompt. MGK was paired up with Trippie Redd, and Redd asked MGK to say three bad things about Swift.

Kelly deadpanned to the camera and declared, “Ladies and gentlemen, you have got to be out of your motherf*cking mind if you think I want any smoke with that fan base. Also, Taylor is a saint and very nice to me, and Travis is my bro.”

Redd jokingly responded, “Kiss her feet while you’re at it,” and MGK replied, “Jesus Christ… I just… bro, she’s very nice! She’s very, very nice.”

MGK Avoids Taylor Swift Question Because He Doesn’t Want “Smoke” With Swifties

MGK has spent most of his career battling other artists. He’s aimed confrontational bars at the likes of Jack Harlow, G-Eazy, and most famously, Eminem. He hasn’t always come out on top (most fans think Eminem took his head off), but that’s beside the point. The bottom line is that he’s shown a willingness to get in the ring when he has an issue with someone. It may be due of this reputation that MGK clarified he has no problem with Taylor Swift. The rapper-turned-rock star stated, unequivocally, that he doesn’t want to suffer the ire of “Swifties.”

The topic came about during a recent episode of the YouTube series First We Feast. MGK and Trippie Redd took turns giving each other difficult prompts, and the former got a doozy involving Swift. Redd dared MGK to name three negative things about the “Antihero” singer. “You offered to pay $1 million if Travis Kelce would come play for the Cleveland Browns,” the rapper noted. “Burn that bridge by saying three mean things about Taylor Swift.” MGK immediately rejected the prompt, despite Redd’s teasing. “Jesus Christ, I just — bro, she’s very nice,” MGK asserted. “She’s very, very nice.”

MGK Claimed That Taylor Swift Is A “Saint”

Redd’s teasing continued, which spurred MGK to state his reasoning. “Ladies and gentleman,” he stated. You’ve got to be out of your muthaf**king mind if you think I want any smoke with that fanbase.” MGK’s unadulterated support continued: “Also, Taylor is a saint and she’s very nice to me.” MGK’s fandom is not surprising, given that he was pictured partying alongside Swift and Kelce at the Super Bowl. The “Tickets to My Downfall” singer was also seen attending Swift’s “Eras Tour” in August 2023.

MGK and Trippie Redd recently dropped the collab EP Genre: Sadboy. The former made his name in the world of pop-punk over the last couple years, but he recently told Audacy that he’s going to be returning to rap music. “I’m going to make a rap album for myself,” he announced. “For no other reason, no point to prove, no chip on my shoulder… If I keep doing things to prove things to people, I’m going to, one, drive myself crazy and, two, not make a good product.”

MGK & Trippie Redd Sneak In A Subtle JID Feature On “Who Do I Call”

For the latter parts of mgk and Trippie Redd’s careers, both artists have a had a tough go of it from critics and even fans. Their recent projects have not been people’s favorites and the same could be said for their first-ever collaborative outing. The two Ohio natives had a lot of skeptics on their radar when they announced their 10-track EP genre : sadboy. Its title and cover art alone had fans scoffing at it. However, tracks like mgk and Trippie’s “who do i call,” have been proving the doubters wrong.

Trippie and mgk are not alone on “who do i call” either. JID, delivers a bit of an unsuspecting verse at the beginning and provides adlibs later on. All three rappers are singing and spitting about a previous relationship that has lost its spark. With those women gone all three are left asking themselves “who do i call,” to help give their lives meaning again. While the story is a bit by the numbers, JID does a good job fitting into the track.

MGK & Trippie Redd Wallow In Their Sorrows On New EP “Genre : Sadboy”

Trippie Redd and mgk are two legends in the Ohio rap scene. Both artists have taken on multiple genres across their careers from pop punk to emo rap, and much more. They have been close collaborators as well, so it makes sense why these two are bringing us a full body of work. Considered an EP, genre : sadboy sees Trippie Redd and mgk give us 10 cuts of ranging across those aforementioned genres.

According to Genius, this has been in the making for a couple of years. In fact, 2021 was the first time that this idea was brought up. Trippie did an interview with Bleu Magazine, expressing how hype he was to rep Ohio on the now-released genre : sadboy. “Me and mgk are working on an album actually on some Ohio s***. I want to get Kid Cudi on it, too. That’s my boy, I love him. We came up with a name that plays off of Ohio. And it’s gon’ be a mix of rock and hip-hop music. That’s our album together… It would be Ohio’d out.”

Three years later the project is here. The duo gave us the lead and only single “lost boys” on March 26. Trippie Redd Beefs With A Producer From His New Album, Producer Claims He Hates Machine Gun Kelly

Last week, Trippie Redd made an announcement that had both his fans and his haters pretty excited. He revealed that he was teaming up with Machine Gun Kelly, who is now going by mgk. The pair weren’t just dropping one song though, they were releasing an entire album together. The album is called GENRE: SADBOY and it’s due to arrive tomorrow, March 29. Both artists have a long history of dealing with their haters, but they probably weren’t expecting for one of the producers from the record to be one of them.

That was the case when someone tweeted that they got word one of their beats was used on the record but he wasn’t exactly excited by the opportunity. “the way I just learned I have a beat placement in this this morning and I know it’s bout to be the worst song I’ve ever heard” his tweet reads. Clearly that didn’t sit right with Trippie who claimed the producer was removed from the album entirely. “Thanks for letting me know. You have been removed from the album. Good luck” his response tweet read. Subsequently, that led to their pair going back and forth extensively on social media arguing about the album and the production. Trippie Redd’s Back And Forth With Producer

Trippie and mgk have already shared the first taste of the album with fans. Earlier this week they dropped the single “Lost Boys.” Additionally, the song confirmed much of the speculation about the albums direction towards emo and “sad boy” music. Unsurprisingly, it was met with mixed reviews from fans and haters of both divisive artists. The duo have crossed over multiple times on songs before. Most notably they teamed up for Trippie’s song “RED SKY” a few years ago.

A Producer Insulted Trippie Redd And Machine Gun Kelly’s ‘Genre:Sadboy,’ And Things Got Ugly Quick

MGK (the artist formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly) and Trippie Redd will release their recently announced joint project, Genre:Sadboy, on Friday, March 29. One producer will no longer be credited.

On Monday, March 25, a musician going by Kaixan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “the way I just learned I have a beat placement in this this morning and I know it’s bout to be the worst song I’ve ever heard.” The comment was in response to OnThinIce’s post about Genre:Sadboy‘s release date. On Wednesday night, March 29, Trippie Redd responded to Kaixan. “Thanks for letting me know. You have been removed from the album. Good luck.”

Of course, it didn’t end there. Is Twitter beef ever succinct? Kaixan wrote, “thank God ur label paid me in advance [crying emoji, cry-laughing emoji, peace sign emoji],” but Trippie Redd didn’t back down, writing, “This cap. I’ll double the money if you show proof you got paid [blue baseball cap emoji].” MGK also chimed in. “Played himself for twitter likes [clown emoji].”

It’s unclear which Genre:Sadboy song featured Kaixan’s beat, not that it matters anymore. Across several posts, Kaixan went on to explain the issue with being associated with MGK and Trippie, as excerpted below:

“Yall think this funny but name another time a producer has stood by their morals. Most of yall to this day would silently work with terrible corrupt people just for an opportunity. I promise you despite what they say you can still make it in this industry as yourself.

Please never stop being true to yourself and true to the music. Yall got this. That’s all imma say hope yall have a good week.

Please redirect trippie hate to mgk cuz I never said I had an issue with bro I just don’t wanna be tied to no minor lover.”

Trippie Redd and mgk have been two of Ohio’s biggest hip-hop stars for well over a decade combined. Part of the reason for their everlasting success is their ability to switch up their respective sounds on the fly. Both of artists have been flourishing in the emo and pop punk spaces over the last few years and that especially goes for mgk. Time will tell how this project turns out, but for now we have “lost boys” to discuss. We can see why music fans are not too happy about what this could be. Some of the lyrics are pretty surface level for the genre. At end of the day, it is a passable track, but not too much more.

Machine Gun Kelly And Trippie Redd Announced Their ‘Genre:Sadboy’ Project With A Very Sad Song Snippet

Keeping up with Machine Gun Kelly’s announcements is a full-time job. Or is it only “mgk” now? He may or may not have changed his stage name earlier this month. In February, MGK revealed an all-black, nearly full-torso tattoo. And that’s without even mentioning his on-again, off-again relationship with Megan Fox. But in January, MGK wrote something on X (formerly Twitter) that unintentionally (or maybe intentionally) correlates with his latest announcement: “Ultimately, I’m sad at how people perceive me in general.”

On Wednesday, March 20, MGK and Trippie Redd announced Genre:Sadboy, “a project by us.” It will arrive next Friday, March 29.

The punk-rap artists (and fellow Ohioans) jointly introduced the project with a black-and-white Instagram video showing them vibing in the studio to one of their unreleased songs, and it’s particularly sad — even by Genre:Sadboy standards.

“I recorded two tonight,” MGK sings. “One is for all those I love, this one’s for the suicide / Everything is blue inside / Everyone ain’t you and I / People won’t say how they feel about you until you die.”

Genre:Sadboy also has its own Instagram page, which could mean that MGK and Trippie’s collaborative partnership will extend beyond what drops on March 29. This afternoon, March 21, MGK and Trippie Redd premiered a YouTube documentary about the project this afternoon, giving deeper insight into the process behind it and what can be expected from it.

As long as we’re drawing parallels between MGK’s recent online behavior and Genre:Sadboy, we may as well do the same for Trippie Redd. In late January, he went on Instagram Live to (yet again) shut down rumors that he worships the devil.

“I’m just a weirdo, bro,” Trippie said, in part. “I like to get tats on my face! I like to wear all black! I like to look goth! Feel me? Sh*t’s a lifestyle. Maybe I’m depressed. Maybe I like to be the gloomy one in the room. I’m from Ohio. It’s always gloomy there. Y’all don’t get it. I’m a real sadboi. I’m a real loner. Maybe I hide it with my personality and sh*t, but so what? I’m human.”

MGK last released Mainstream Sellout in 2022, while Trippie dropped Mansion Musik, A Love Letter To You 5, and Saint Michael throughout 2023.

A little over a year ago, Megan Fox sparked rumors that she and fiancé Machine Gun Kelly had broken up, first by deleting some Instagram photos, then by being spotted out and about without her engagement ring. So, what’s the deal?

Are Megan Fox And Machine Gun Kelly Still Engaged?

On the March 20, Fox-featuring episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper noted that Fox “got engaged, then I think it was called off,” as NME notes. Fox replied, “All those things you said were accurate things that have occurred.”

Fox then spoke vaguely about the current status of her and MGK’s relationship, saying, “I think that what I’ve learned from being in this relationship is that it’s not for public consumption. I think, as of now, I don’t have a comment on the status of the relationship, per se. What I can say is [he] is what I refer to as being my ‘twin soul’ and there will always be a tether to him, no matter what.”

So, what appears to be the case is that at one point, Fox and MGK broke off their engagement, and it’s not currently clear if it is still called off, or what they current relationship status is.

Back in 2022, Megan Fox generated some attention when she said (and then said again) that she and Machine Gun Kelly sometimes drink each other’s blood. This apparently led to rumors that she’s Satanic and/or in the Illuminati, which she addressed on a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast.

As HipHopDX notes, on the March 20 episode, Fox said:

“Everything is a matter of what you’re accustomed to or what is currently socially acceptable or normal. And back in like the ’50s even, how many times did you see like, little boys would go out with their little pop guns and they would cut their fingers and be blood brothers, right? And they’re like, ‘We’re best friends forever now.’ They would smush the blood together on their fingers. That’s not Satanic, right? That’s normal and that’s cute. It’s like that except instead of rubbing your fingers together, the drop of blood goes in your mouth. And I don’t know why that becomes Satanic.

I understand people think like, ‘Hey, that’s weird.’ But guess what I think is weird? I think it’s weird that girls are out here letting guys c*m in their mouth and they don’t know these guys. F*ck you. You’re so offended that I got a drop of Machine Gun Kelly’s blood in my mouth. What is so gross about what I did with my soulmate?”
