Bladee & Yung Lean Further Their Chemistry On “TERRIBLE EXCELLENCE”

Bladee and Yung Lean go together like peanut butter and jelly. The natives of Sweden are almost always able to display synergy whenever they are on a track together. They might not have as many collaborations as Metro Boomin and Future, for example, but their creative minds do not clash and create chaos. Which is why this new track from Bladee, “TERRIBLE EXCELLENCE,” sounds great.

This is one of the duo’s latest collaborations and it lands on Bladee’s newest project, Cold Visions. It is the 19th offering and second of 2024. The last album we got from him was just last month with Lean called Psykos. Cold Visions features a massive 30-song tracklist and this is just one of the team ups with Bladee and Yung Lean.

It is the fourth out of the five outings, and we think it is the strongest out of the pack. The beat, provided by Whitearmor and F1LTHY is incredibly aggressive and bassy. It fits the rest of the tracklist really well due to its commitment of being dark in tone. Bladee and Lean are rapping about how they are essentially addicted to loneliness and being a lone wolf. “I wanna kill everything just like Chucky, the boys lucky
The shards on me shine lucky, I’m out hunting / The knife, need to find something, I’m blood hungry
,” Bladee raps.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song “TERRIBLE EXCELLENCE” by Bladee and Yung Lean? Is this their best collaboration of all time, why or why not? Was this Lean’s strongest guest performance on Cold Visions? Where does this song rank amongst the rest if the project’s tracklist? Quotable Lyrics:

Pretty violence in the silence, it’s a dark story
Living legends in the flesh, it’s all pain and glory
I don’t even put the pressure, yeah, they do it for me
Enjoy the moments from the nightmares [?]
With the boring blood tourin’, through the pressure we are foreign
Not an angel without horns, there’s no roses without thorns

Buddy Taps Smino & Cedxric For R&B-Flavored Cut “Should’ve Known”

As we mentioned recently, we feel that Buddy, California rapper and singer, deserves more recognition and respect in the genre. The steady veteran recently put out his fourth album, Don’t Forget To Breathe, and it might be his best work to date. He is bringing some great rapping with his smooth and confident delivery. It is tied for his longest record, but it is still only 12 songs. Which means there is hardly any room for filler.

Buddy was certainly not playing around on this album, as “Should’ve Known” with Smino and Cedxric is one his best offerings. It is a smooth R&B-like track about dodging vices and moving through roadblocks. This makes it fit right into an LP all about self-improvement. Both rappers deliver great verses, and Buddy beautifully handles the song’s catchy chorus.

Should’ve known, should’ve known / I been stayin’ out the way / And prayin’ for another day / Wе live on.” Don’t Forget To Breathe was led by two singles up until its release on March 29. “Like This,” which dropped in 2024, and 2023’s groovy “You 2 Thank,” were both great representations of this album. Be sure to check out “Should’ve Known,” as well as the rest of Buddy’s album.

Roc Marciano & Larry June Provide Chilling Performances On “Bad JuJu”

Roc Marciano and Larry June are two of the underground hip-hop kings and have been for quite some time. So, what happens when you combine their respective talents, along with one of the greatest producers of all time, The Alchemist? Well, you get a bone-chilling and well-written track with eerie, top-notch production. Those qualities are how we would describe “Bad JuJu” by Roc Marciano and Larry June. Considering how their styles effortlessly mix together on this record, you would think these two would have tons of previous work as a duo. However, the opposite is quite true here.

“Bad JuJu” is only Roc and June’s third ever offering. Hearing them again on one track for the first time since 2022’s “Maybe The Next Time” makes us wonder why we do not have more team-ups. By the way, the latter can be found on Jay Worthy, Larry, and LNDN DRGS record, 2 P’z In A Pod. “Bad JuJu” lands on Roc’s recently released Marciology.

As we mentioned, The Alchemist produced this track. But this is not the only song he had a hand in. In fact, Uncle Al, Animoss, and Marciano all contributed beats to this concise, 14-song LP. Leading up to the drop date, the Long Island, New York native teased the project with “Gold Crossbow.” Be sure to check “Bad JuJu” with the audio link above.

MGK & Trippie Redd Sneak In A Subtle JID Feature On “Who Do I Call”

For the latter parts of mgk and Trippie Redd’s careers, both artists have a had a tough go of it from critics and even fans. Their recent projects have not been people’s favorites and the same could be said for their first-ever collaborative outing. The two Ohio natives had a lot of skeptics on their radar when they announced their 10-track EP genre : sadboy. Its title and cover art alone had fans scoffing at it. However, tracks like mgk and Trippie’s “who do i call,” have been proving the doubters wrong.

Trippie and mgk are not alone on “who do i call” either. JID, delivers a bit of an unsuspecting verse at the beginning and provides adlibs later on. All three rappers are singing and spitting about a previous relationship that has lost its spark. With those women gone all three are left asking themselves “who do i call,” to help give their lives meaning again. While the story is a bit by the numbers, JID does a good job fitting into the track.

Thanks. Masterpiece,” another adds. Be sure to see what everyone is talking about with the link above.

Beyonce, Shaboozey, & Pharrell Williams Team Up For A Wild, Multi-Layered Cut “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’”

Beyonce has been dominating the streams this weekend and will continue to do so for at least the next week with COWBOY CARTER. The sequel to 2022’s RENAISSANCE, the Beyhive and many others were excited for the project’s sound when this was first revealed to us during the Super Bowl. This second installment in this act trilogy, the Houston native is paying homage to her country roots. However, the icon said it best about what this LP is, “This ain’t a country album. This is a Beyonce album.” One of the perfect examples of that quote is “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’,” which sees Beyonce work with Shaboozey and Pharrell Williams.

This is one of many songs that definitely is not pure country, but has elements of the genre sprinkled in. Firstly, Shaboozey deserves a huge shout-out. He has been rising quickly over the last several months with his spin on the genre, adding elements of hip-hop. Now, because of that mixed audience, he earned the chance to work with not only Beyonce, but with Pharrell Williams too.

This multi-layered track might sound all over the place on the surface. However, each phase fits together fairly well. “SWEET” is dominated by Shaboozey with Beyonce coming in after over a jersey club/country beat. Then, “HONEY” is the shortest part and sees it go in a more R&B direction with a slower pace to the production and a more sensual singing performance. Finally, “BUCKIIN’” is the rowdiest part with hard-hitting thumping bass, the classic air horn sound effects, with a hint of guitar. Again, there is a lot to take in, but this trio delivers one of strongest bangers on the album for sure.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “SWEET HONEY BUCKIIN’,” by Beyonce, Shaboozey, and Pharrell Williams? Is this the best track on COWBOY CARTER, why or why not? Who had the strongest performance on the song and why? What is your favorite element of the track and why? How would you rank RENAISSANCE and COWBOY CARTER? Flee Lord & Conway The Machine Lyrically Spar On Crisis-Produced “Drum Mobb”

Flee Lord and Crisis did a great job promoting their now-released collaborative project Full Court Press. They did so about a week ago with the basketball-inspired “Play Amongst The Stars.” It featured one of the greatest lyricists of all-time, Inspectah Deck, as well. This is something that the rapper and producer duo is known for. Their love of basketball was prevalent on their previous team effort 2-3 Zone. So, you can view this latest album as a sequel of sorts. Today, we wanted to highlight Flee Lord and Crisis’ track “Drum Mobb.”

This is another one of the plentiful collaborative tracks on the record. Speaking of features, listeners will find artists like Trizz, Tiona Deniece, Mummz, and Conway the Machine. Additionally, Full Court Press has 13 tracks at just a runtime of 38 minutes and change. Furthermore, Flee Lord and Conway are no strangers by any means with each other.

This is now one of over 10 meet ups, so you know the chemistry is already going to be there. Sure enough it is and both provide some hard-hitting and catchy flows. Additionally, each rapper hits a nice pocket in the Crisis beat that goes hard with the drum pattern. Conway especially brings a fun performance with his drawn out “o” sounds. Be sure to check out Flee Lord and Crisis’ new album and this track.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Drum Mobb,” by Flee Lord, Crisis, and Conway the Machine? Is this the best song off of Full Court Press, why or why not? NBA YoungBoy & Herm Bring A Catchy Melody To “My Bobo”

NBA YoungBoy sort of pulled a 180 on us a little bit with the release of his new album Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain. Usually when he drops a project it is super long. On average, you can expect at least 18-20 tracks. Sometimes, that number can hit 30 plus. However, YB decided to trim the runtime down with just 13 tracks. The last time he hit that number was in 2022 with the release of 3800 Degrees. Also surprising is that none of the songs that were dropped on YouTube made it to this project.

Apparently, NBA YoungBoy has another album coming (no surprise there). So, maybe those songs will a home in the near future. Currently, Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain is available on Spotify and Soundcloud, but not Apple Music or YouTube. Our condolences go out to those users. But, we are here to talk about “My Bobo,” a collaboration with Herm.

We feel it is one of the stronger cuts, thanks in part to Herm and YB’s chemistry. Also, this song has a solid melody, especially coming from the keys and the lead’s vocals. A “Bobo” is a person that loves materialism and affluence and it after hearing that definition, it makes the lyrics a little more confusing actually. It seems the track is more so about violence than wealth. Either way, it is one of the stronger bangers on the record.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “My Bobo,” by NBA YoungBoy and Herm? Is this one of his strongest tracks of from Compliments of Grave Digger Mountain, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Who had the stronger performance and why? What other tracks are you gravitating toward? Spice 1 Gears Up For New LP With “Gangsta Shhh” Featuring Snoop Dogg & Rick Ross

Spice 1 has not gotten enough love on the HNHH site unfortunately. The Hayward, California rapper has been going strong since the early 90s. He gave his his first record back in 1991 to be exact with his Let It Be Known tape. With well over 20 projects to his name, he deserves a lot a credit for helping shape the West Coast sound. So, we are excited to say that he will be dropping a new record in a couple months. To help promote it, Spice 1 has just released “Gangsta Shhh” with two legends.

Those other two icons are Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross. Since we have not been keeping you up to date on his music output, here is a quick run down. The last time Spice 1 put out a new album was 2022 with Thug Therapy. However, we want to focus on 2019, which is when Platinum O.G. came out.

He will be following up that tape with its sequel, Platinum OG 2, on May 3, according to HipHopDX. The project will feature a bevy of other all-time great talents such as Conway the Machine, DJ Premier, Paul Wall, and more. “Gangsta Shhh” is a trap-flavored cut with tons of swagger coming from Spice 1 and his supporting cast. It is a nice taster for what should be an exciting return.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Gangsta Shhh,” by Spice 1, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross? Is this shaping up to be a top-tier record for Spice, why or why not? MIKE & Tony Seltzer Recruit Earl Sweatshirt & Tony Shhnow For Wavy “On God”

MIKE is one of the more eccentric and ever-changing artists in modern day hip-hop. He can go super lyrical and abstract on something like Faith Is A Rock or Burning Desire. Or he can be looser and dip into more contemporary sounds on Pinball. The latter is his latest offering following a very impressive and diverse 2023 in which those more experimentative projects dropped. One track to make a note of is MIKE’s “On God.”

Pinball is a collaboration tape that sees MIKE working with Tony Seltzer. He is also a native New Yorker like his rap counterpart, hailing from Brooklyn. The tape just dropped today, but leading up to it, there were a couple of singles released beforehand. Those included “R&B” and “Underground Kingz.”

“On God” is one of three tracks to boast a feature. In this case MIKE and Seltzer are teaming up with two other “underground kingz,” Earl Sweatshirt and Tony Shhnow. It is a bit of a weird mix, but they all work together very well. Every rapper on the track gives a subdued performance which complements Tony S.’s woozy and wavy trap-like beat. You will be floating on a cloud after listening to this one.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “On God,” by MIKE, Tony Seltzer, Earl Sweatshirt, and Tony Shhnow? Is this one of his strongest tracks on Pinball, why or why not? Future Steals The Show On Meek Mill-led “Giving Chanel”

Meek Mill has been made fun of a ton lately as fans continue to put his sexuality in question. This is happening because of the rumors circling that him and Diddy were in a relationship. Trolls are also having a time of it, especially after Meek Mill shouted out Future on Twitter for his verse on “Giving Chanel.” This track can be found on the Philadelphia rapper’s latest EP.

HEATHENISM is Mill’s five-track project that released this past weekend. The only other feature to be found is Fivio Foreign on “Whatever I Want.” Future and Meek have been collaborators for years. Their working relationship dates back to 2013 when they, along with Fabolous worked on the Dreamchasers 3 cut “Money Ain’t No Issue.”

Listen To “Giving Chanel” By Meek Mill & Future

On this latest joint offering though, Future absolutely dominates “Giving Chanel.” His verse takes up the bulk of the runtime. However, he manages to be entertaining throughout his performance. Hendrix’s fast-paced flow is stank-face inducing and he adds some cool cadences as well. For example, when he rhymes words with long “e” sounds he really draws out the vowel sound. You can check out the HEATHENISM track above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Giving Chanel,” by Meek Mill and Future? Is this the best track from HEATHENISM why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why?
