MGK Avoids Taylor Swift Question Because He Doesn’t Want “Smoke” With Swifties

MGK has spent most of his career battling other artists. He’s aimed confrontational bars at the likes of Jack Harlow, G-Eazy, and most famously, Eminem. He hasn’t always come out on top (most fans think Eminem took his head off), but that’s beside the point. The bottom line is that he’s shown a willingness to get in the ring when he has an issue with someone. It may be due of this reputation that MGK clarified he has no problem with Taylor Swift. The rapper-turned-rock star stated, unequivocally, that he doesn’t want to suffer the ire of “Swifties.”

The topic came about during a recent episode of the YouTube series First We Feast. MGK and Trippie Redd took turns giving each other difficult prompts, and the former got a doozy involving Swift. Redd dared MGK to name three negative things about the “Antihero” singer. “You offered to pay $1 million if Travis Kelce would come play for the Cleveland Browns,” the rapper noted. “Burn that bridge by saying three mean things about Taylor Swift.” MGK immediately rejected the prompt, despite Redd’s teasing. “Jesus Christ, I just — bro, she’s very nice,” MGK asserted. “She’s very, very nice.”

MGK Claimed That Taylor Swift Is A “Saint”

Redd’s teasing continued, which spurred MGK to state his reasoning. “Ladies and gentleman,” he stated. You’ve got to be out of your muthaf**king mind if you think I want any smoke with that fanbase.” MGK’s unadulterated support continued: “Also, Taylor is a saint and she’s very nice to me.” MGK’s fandom is not surprising, given that he was pictured partying alongside Swift and Kelce at the Super Bowl. The “Tickets to My Downfall” singer was also seen attending Swift’s “Eras Tour” in August 2023.

MGK and Trippie Redd recently dropped the collab EP Genre: Sadboy. The former made his name in the world of pop-punk over the last couple years, but he recently told Audacy that he’s going to be returning to rap music. “I’m going to make a rap album for myself,” he announced. “For no other reason, no point to prove, no chip on my shoulder… If I keep doing things to prove things to people, I’m going to, one, drive myself crazy and, two, not make a good product.”

The image shows Brown, decked out in his Steelers uniform, kissing Swift in front of a crowd of cheering Asian fans. Furthermore, Brown tagged Swift in the photo, as well as his CTESPN brand. However, fans were quick to note that Brown was likely about to face a wave of hate from the dedicated Swiftie fandom.

Of course, it’s far from the first time that Brown has angered a popular figure’s fanbase. In a shot at Swift last year, the former wide receiver recently tweeted out a picture of Ariana Grande in his Steelers jersey alongside Mac Miller‘s mother presumably getting ready for a Steelers game. “I had baddies at the game before the announcements…….. Arianators,” Brown captioned the photo. However, the picture did not go over well with Mac’s fanbase. For many of Miller’s fans, the inclusion of his mother takes the post beyond the pale. “Nah you foul for this fam,” one fan wrote. Another added, “Don’t disrespect Mac”. Brown even faced backlash from prominent fandom sources.

However, it’s safe to say that Swift isn’t exactly a fan of AI art. In January, it was reported that Swift was considering legal action against the perpetrators of a wave of NSFW AI images that hit social media. “Whether or not legal action will be taken is being decided but there is one thing that is clear. These fake AI-generated images are abusive, offensive, exploitative, and done without Taylor’s consent and/or knowledge. These images must be removed from everywhere they exist and should not be promoted by anyone. Taylor’s circle of family and friends are furious, as are her fans obviously. They have the right to be, and every woman should be. The door needs to be shut on this. Legislation needs to be passed to prevent this and laws must be enacted.” a Swift team member told The Daily Mail.

Swifties rallied around the star as the images, which primarily showed Swift in sexual situations with Chiefs fans and players, spread across social media. “PROTECT TAYLOR SWIFT” began trending on X, with the accounts primarily responsible for perpetuating the images swiftly suspended. However, the incident served to highlight the devastating power that current AI image technology has regarding things such as “celebrity deepfakes”.

FKA Twigs’ End-Of-Year Photo Dump Earns Backlash From Swifties

Swifties have gone after FKA Twigs over a perceived slight from the British artist’s end-of-year photo dump. One particular moment saw Twigs and her friends lying in bed as an overheard camera panned across them. However, Swifties have interpreted this as a recreation of Kanye West’s music video for “Famous”. In the video, Kanye is famously seen in a similar panning shot beside a naked Taylor Swift. While Twigs did feature alongside Kanye on Ty Dolla $ign’s “Ego Death”, there is no indication that her recent video was anything but coincidentally similar.

Regardless, the respective fan bases of Swift and Twigs are now waging way across social media. The Swifties have accused Twigs of taking unprovoked shots at Swift. Meanwhile, Twigs’ fans are arguing that the Swifties are overly sensitive and have decided to start beef where there isn’t any. At the time of writing, neither artist has addressed the situation.

Meanwhile, other fans teasingly compared Kelce’s squirrel tweet to Swift’s music at the time, namely her more philosophical songs such as 2012’s “All Too Well”. However, overall, Swifties have appeared to have found a new reason to love Kelce through his very grounded and intensely human social media footprint. Of course, some aspects of Swift’s fandom are unhappy with the relationship but on the whole, Swifties appear to love Kelce.

Taylor’s father is reportedly a massive Eagles fan, although Travis claims to have converted him to the Chiefs fandom.

This claim, made on the Kelce Brothers’ podcast, New Heights, prompted Jason to shoot Scott Swift a DM. “What are we doing, Scott? You’re gonna let this man’s devilish good looks and relationship with your daughter sway you from a lifetime of fandom, Scott? Ridiculous,” Jason’s message to Swift read. However, it’s unclear if Taylor herself will be in attendance. She is due to perform in Rio de Janeiro for the three nights preceding the game. However, much like Kelce did to come see her in Argentina, she might pull a marathon trip to make the game.

Taylor Swift Fans Swarm Restaurant After Rumors That Singer Was There With Travis Kelce

The Elm Restaurant in New Canaan, Connecticut expected an unpleasant afternoon rush yesterday as the establishment was besieged by Taylor Swift fans. A popular fan account had announced on social media that the singer was eating at the restaurant along with boyfriend Travis Kelce and close friend Blake Lively. Hundreds of Swifties flocked to the restaurant, which was closed between its lunch and dinner services. Eventually, the fire department and several police officers arrived to break up the crowd.

However, it appears that the fan account’s information was inaccurate. There was no evidence that the trio were dining there. Furthermore, it was later confirmed that Kelce was in Missouri at a Chiefs practice session, meaning there was no way that he was on a lunch date 1100 miles on the Eastern Seaboard. It’s unclear if this was a deliberate hoax or just an overeager fan putting out some bad reporting.

Kelce To Travel With Swift On Eras Tour

In other Traylor news, Kelce is reportedly planning to spend his 2024 offseason on tour with Swift. According to Entertainment Tonight, Kelce will join Swift on the international leg of her Eras Tour next year. “Travis and Taylor are all in… [They] are very serious about their careers, and the two bond over that and want to show support for each other whenever they can,” a source told the outlet. Furthermore, the source claims Kelce will travel with Swift to Brazil for her concerts from November 17-19. However, that feels unlikely given that Kelce has a marquee matchup against the Eagles on November 20.

However, it’s definitely fair to assume that his plans include a majority of next year’s tour dates. Swift kicks things off in Japan in February. Depending on how the Chiefs do this year, Kelce will be unlikely to attend as the Tokyo concerts coincide with the days in the run-up to the Super Bowl. However, the rest of the dates between late February and the start of Chiefs training camp in August should be wide open for Kelce to attend. That run of shows sees Swift tour both Asia and Europe.

Scorned Swifties Sue Ticketmaster After Taylor Swift Ticket Purchase Fiasco

Taylor Swift's 'Reputation' Tour Sales Are Reportedly Sinking

Following the disastrous ticket sale for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour last month, a group of the singer’s fans has now sued Live Nation, the parent company of Ticketmaster, accusing the company of fraud, anti-competitive conduct, and other transgressions.

The complaint, filed in a Los Angeles county court, accuses Ticketmaster of running an illegal monopoly that dominates the ticket sale market, squashes competitors, and has no motivation to charge reasonable fees or provide competent ticketing services because it has a stranglehold on the market. 

The complaint further charges Ticketmaster with intentionally misleading customers by claiming that only those fans with presale codes would be permitted to purchase tickets, but then allowing bots and scalpers to overwhelm its platform and squeeze legitimate presale purchasers out, with the result that millions of purchasers without presale codes were allowed to purchase tickets.  Specifically, the complaint accuses Ticketmaster of encouraging this result because it also controls the resale market, so it receives additional fees every time a scalper sells a ticket on the resale market.

Ticketmaster has blamed “bot attacks” and “unprecedented traffic” on its sales platform, but has not acknowledged the central role that its actions have played in this debacle and similar situations that seem to occur frequently when tickets go on sale for a popular artist. 

Regardless of how this lawsuit turns out, this incident will likely continue to stir consumer outrage and anger over Ticketmaster’s business practices.  As Lina Khan, the chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, was quoted as saying, the Taylor Swift ticketing fiasco has “ended up converting more Gen Zers into anti-monopolists overnight than anything I could have done.”
