Bad Bunny Reacted To Drake’s Flattering Name-Check Of Him On ‘Major Distribution’ And Drake Loved It

Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss is full of disses and shout-outs. One of the latter is praise for Bad Bunny, who was No. 1 on the year-end Top Tours chart, Apple Music’s Artist Of The Year, and his album Un Verano Sin Ti was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums year-end chart. Drake took some time on “Major Distribution” to commend these achievements.

On the song, he raps, “Major distribution / Labels call me Bad Bunny numbers / It’s a robbery / 500 million, just for Aubrey.” Bad Bunny appreciated the compliment — he posted a video yesterday, December 21, of him bobbing his head to the rhythm of the track and even picking up a weight and lifting it. It’s safe to say he liked the excuse to flex.

Drake shared the clip on his own account, writing: “You know who’s really running up the money. it’s me and the [rabbit emoji].”

The Honestly, Nevermind performer also recently responded to often being turned into a meme, like with the “Rich Flex” meme. “I understand after all these years that, I feel like I have a polarizing presence,” he said. “I’m almost a character in people’s movies and therefore there’s a running a dialogue. There’s jokes, you’re either the villain to some people or hero to some people. It is what it is, it just comes with the territory… I’ve always been able to laugh at myself, but I really do feel now that I mentally am able to separate the two. So I just want to stay in that zone, that’s kinda my resolution.”

Lupe Fiasco Expresses Interest In Doing A Song With Drake

There’s a long, documented history of Drake and Lupe Fiasco having a complicated relationship over the years.

The two share a mutual respect for each other’s craft. There have, however, also been a couple of assumed subliminal shots sent in songs.

It now appears as though the Chicago actually wants to put their admiration for one another to the test. He says he wants them to collaborate on a song.

It all began when a fan took to their Twitter account on Monday (December 19), simply tweeting that they want to hear the “Kick, Push” rapper and Drake on a track together. Lupe subsequently replied, writing “Me three…” in a quote tweet.

On at least two occasions in the past, Lupe has kicked freestyles over a Drake song. In 2018, he rapped over Drizzy’s collab with Travis Scott, “Sicko Mode.”

More recently, he took his turn going in over the “Champagne Poetry” instrumental, titling it “Diet Soda Poetry.” “Just left album mode with me and my n***a Trakk / and Drake dropped this sh*t, got me thinking about going back,” he raps while paying homage to the Certified Lover Boy rapper.

Furthermore, the 6 God rapped over the 40-year-old’s iconic “Kick, Push” instrumental on his debut mixtape, Room for Improvement.

Nonetheless, Drake seemingly took some shots at the Chicago native while rapping on his 2015 throwaway track, “5 Am in Toronto.” The Toronto star raps, “It’s funny when you think a n***a blew up after Lupe / N****s treat me like I’ve been here for 10 / Some n****s been here for a couple, never been here again.”

However, in a 2020 interview with Rob Markman for Genius, Lupe provided his side of the story. Initially viewed as a subliminal shot toward him, the consensus now seems to be that it was actually praise. “I can just tell you that Drake has a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for Drake,” he says in the interview.

Additionally, the DRILL MUSIC IN ZION rapper came to Champagne Papi’s defence amid his beef with Pusha T. Namely, he spoke out regarding Pusha’s choice for the cover art of his notorious diss song, “The Story of Adidon.” Drake is seen wearing black face in the photo.

In some since-deleted tweets, the 40-year-old seemingly defends the cover art. “Yes it’s two pictures of 6 in blackface…the one Pusha has as the cover is connected to another one but it’s cropped off. The one you saw is happy the other is dark and sad. Both together actually presents a powerful duality of representation and race and its expectations on art,” he wrote.

The tweet from Lupe teasing the collaboration has certainly stirred some interesting reactions from social media users.

Regardless, we can only hope that this collaboration will actually come to fruition.

Drake Revealed What He’s Listening To At The Moment And SZA’s ‘Incredible’ Sophomore Album ‘SOS’ Made The List

It seems like the five-year wait has paid off for singer SZA. Rave reviews for her sophomore album, SOS, continue to pour in from fans (we really like it, too). Ditching the “sad girl music” label she had been bestowed. On the now-No. 1 album, SZA explores relationships with a fresh new perspective as a songwriter.

In a recent interview with the online casino Stake, rap superstar Drake shared admiration for the 23-track body of work. However, as the “Rich Flex” rapper peered through the live chat, he noticed one question continued to pop up. “I know one of the questions was ‘what have I been listening to,” said Drake.

The rapper then proceeded to list off a few artists, including Lilah and Baby Drill, before disclosing, “And I’ve been listening to the new SZA, listening [to SOS], [it’s] incredible.”

This should come as no surprise that Drake is a fan of alternative R&B, as he constantly refers to himself as a “certified lover boy.” But, given Drake and SZA’s history, some fans were taken back by his response. But fear not: after their brief fling ended in 2009, the former lovers remained cordial.

Recently, the singer shared that even though Drake “has a Regina George quality to him,” they are in good standing.

“We’re cool. And we’ve always been cool,” said SZA, “It’s never been weird. It didn’t come completely out of the blue when he let me know. I didn’t know it was a song with 21 [Savage] or anything like that. But anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive. He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him… He’s King Drake.”

Drake Calls SZA’s New ‘SOS’ Album ‘Incredible’

Drake Takes Down Another Record of The Beatles with "Staying Alive" feature

Drake has long been a fan of SZA. During a live stream for Stake, Drake highlights how much he loves SZA’s album, calling it incredible.

“I know one of the questions was ‘what have I been listening to?’… I’ve been listening to the new SZA, incredible” Drake said.

Recently, SZA recently spoke glowingly of Drake as well.

SZA pulled up on Big Tigger for Audacy Check In and spoke about her new album S.O.S. and also her current relationship with Drake.

SZA recently appeared on Saturday Night Live with Keke Palmer, an episode with a Drake PSA Skit.

SZA would state the moment was a bit strange but overall she enjoyed it.

“I was like, ‘did they know?’ – but they didn’t ask me to be in it. Nobody said anything…. I feel like Drake has a Regina George quality to him where it’s just kind of like, ‘Have you, or anyone you know been personally victimized?’ He’s like a cool kid, you know. When you’re the popular kid in school, it’s entertaining. It’s entertaining, but you sometimes are taking losses in the midst of that entertainment. The honesty, I respect that. But I definitely laughed real hard…I cackled.”

– SZA

On her current relationship with The Boy, SZA states they are cool “and we’ve always been cool.”

“It’s never been weird. It didn’t come completely out of the blue when he let me know. I didn’t know it was a song with 21 (Savage) or anything like that. But anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive. He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him…He’s King Drake.”

SZA’s sophomore effort continues to be the talk of the town and even Drake can’t help but praise the record. After years of fans pleading in her comment sections, SZA dropped off SOS. It was a labor of love that took some time for the world to receive, and now that it’s here, the Top Dawg Entertainment artist’s growth is audible. Her fusion of several genres is done in a way only SZA can deliver. As SOS sits comfortably at No. 1 on the charts, a clip from Drake’s recent interview commanded attention.

SZA recently said in an interview that she reached out to several of her peers, but sadly, they didn’t respond to her requests. She added she wasn’t upset about it because she’d done the same to many of them in the past.

Elsewhere in Drake’s discussion with Stake, he spoke about the length of time it takes for him to create an album. Apparently, his joint project with 21 Savage, Her Loss, took four months to complete.

“Yeah, that was quick. It’s quick. Like, I’ve obviously had albums that take a year,” said Drake. “I’ve had albums that take two years. And then, I have an album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. I think we made that in like, six weeks. Eight weeks. What a Time to Be Alive, another album that we made fast.”
