G-Eazy Reveals His Mother Passed Away Through A Heart-Wrenching Message

G-Eazy’s mother has sadly passed away. The “No Limit” rapper shared the news on his Instagram with a carousel of images that showed the Bay Area native with his mom at different points in their lives. With them came a voice memo titled “Opportunity Cost Mom” which captures his mom being brought to tears as she says “so proud” of him and his accomplishments. The Instagram post was also made with a length captured that G-Eazy used to honor and remember his mom.

“I love you so much,” he wrote. “The shock still won’t let me accept the feeling that I’ll never get to hug you in person again. My queen, my hero, my everything… my mom. The tears won’t stop. My eyes hurt, my face hurts, my body hurts, everywhere hurts. There’s no safe place to hide and there’s no way to lay, sit, or stand that doesn’t hurt. The pain is enormous. But I know you’re out of yours and that brings me peace. I love you so much.” He went on to call her an “inspiration” to and the “definition of super-human” before revealing that her death comes shortly after she convinced him to seek help for substance abuse.

“As deeply as I was worried about you and your physical health, I didn’t realize the extent of just how worried you were about me until you sent me the hardest letter I’ve ever had to read,” he wrote. “Going to treatment for alcohol and drugs was my decision but your letter was what ultimately persuaded me. They say the opposite of addiction is connection, and I’d never felt more connected to you than I have in the past months. Coming home to this wasn’t easy, and nothing will ever be moving forward… but like you would always say, ‘one step at a time and don’t look at the summit’. I love you so much.”

G-Eazy And Demi Lovato Confront Their Reflections For A Haunting Peformance Of ‘Breakdown’

G-Eazy’s got a new album, These Things Happen Too, out and to mark the release, the Bay Area star hit the Tonight Show stage with pop singer Demi Lovato to perform the haunting “Breakdown” from the new project. The performance, which takes place on a two-sided stage adorned with mirrors, finds the duo confronting their controversies as images of the various headlines written about them flash on the screens behind them.

Between them, the two have accumulated enough headlines to wallpaper a museum wing. Most recently, G-Eazy was in the news for a fight outside a hotel bar and filing a restraining order against an alleged stalker. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato recently came out as non-binary, drawing criticism from conservative corners of the internet.

However, both stars also have their fair share of good news, as well. G-Eazy recently started a wellness brand, FlowerShop, giving an interview to Uproxx’s Dane Rivera about the new brand, and has strung together an impressive list of features in 2021, including on EST Gee’s “At Will.” Meanwhile, Lovato recently helped to honor queer icon Elton John at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards, so both seem to be doing alright, even despite their respective mishaps.

G-Eazy Reflects On Fame And Shame In His Searing ‘Breakdown’ Video Featuring Demi Lovato

G-Eazy is gearing up to release his fourth studio album, These Things Happen Too, which will be out next Friday, September 24. Ahead of the album’s release he’s shared several tracks, including “A Little More” with Kiana Lede and “Down” with Latto.

Today, he dropped a brand new single and video featuring another collaborator, Demi Lovato, an artist who has faced similar scrutiny as the Oakland rapper. As his debut album from 2014 was called These Things Happen, this new installment serves as a follow-up to his breakout, and if this new single “Breakdown” is an indication, the rapper is going to get brutally honest about what he’s been through. Most notably, the rapper’s break up with Halsey was well-documented as the pair had the hit single “Him & I” together prior to the relationship’s end, and were supposedly working on music right up until the end of their time together. He also faced further scrutiny for a 2018 drug possession incident in Sweden.

Headlines about their relationship flit by in the video, which frequently features a split screen of Demi and G-Eazy, both trying to handle what they’re going through. Demi’s struggles with addiction and recovery have also been well-documented, and they even released a tell-all documentary getting into the details of what happened. Directed by Daniel CZ, the video offers a searing reflection on fame, shame, and celebrity culture. Check it out above.

G-Eazy Is Under Investigation After A Hotel Bar Fight In New York

TMZ reports that Bay Area rapper G-Eazy is being investigated by the NYPD after apparently getting into a fight outside The New York City Standard Hotel’s club Boom Boom Room Friday night. The altercation reportedly happened around 1 am when witnesses told police that G-Eazy’s entourage got into a physical disagreement with another group outside the club. G-Eazy allegedly punched one of the other men while a member of his group hit another in the head with a glass bottle, sending him to the hospital for treatment. No one has been arrested as yet.

If the fight sounds out of character for the pretty laid-back seeming G-Eazy, it’s likely because he’s better known for making upbeat party rap with Jack Harlow and promoting his wellness brand, FlowerShop, about which he gave an interview to Uproxx’s own Dane Rivera. However, Complex noted in its report about the brawl that G-Eazy was arrested in 2018 for assault and cocaine possession while on tour in Sweden. He later commented on the incident when ASAP Rocky was also arrested in Stockholm on similar charges a year later but was held for nearly a month, pointing out a prime example of “white privilege” and the double standard in treatment between people, even in other countries.

G-Eazy And EST Gee Refuse To Heed The Commands Of Anyone On The Ornery ‘At Will’

Since rising to fame with his 2014 debut album These Things Happen, G-Eazy has yet to go a full calendar year without sharing a project of some sort with his fans. The Bay Area act tallied four albums and five EPs in the seven years that followed and he’s showing no signs of slowing down. With the sequel project to that 2014 effort, These Things Happen Too, on the way, G-Eazy calls on EST Gee on his ornery new single, “At Will.”

The muscular effort finds the two rappers stepping up to whatever tries to stand in their way. G-Eazy leads the way with an opening verse that aims to separate himself from the competition. “They get to reachin’, that sh*t is pathеtic,” he raps. “They couldn’t walk in my shoes if I let ’em.” He then lends the mic to EST Gee, who delivers a similar verse while reflecting on his past actions. “I beat the streets, I ain’t goin’ to jail,” he says before adding, “It was killed or be killed, am I goin’ to hell?” The single also comes with a flashy visual that puts the two rappers beside a white Lamborghini and a whole lot of money to throw into the sky.

The new collaboration is expected to appear on G-Eazy’s These Things Happen Too, which he confirmed would arrive at some point this year. He also revealed that he’s recorded over 330 songs for the project, which already boasts “A Little More” with Kiana Lede and “Down” with Mulatto as potential lead singles. EST Gee, on the other hand, is just a little over a week removed from sharing Bigger Than Life Or Death, his second project of the year.
