Octavia Spencer and Ariana Debose Join Demi Lovato for Drama Film ‘Tow’

Octavia Spencer and Ariana Debose Join Demi Lovato for Drama Film 'Tow'

Academy Award winner Octavia Spencer and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) are starring alongside Demi Lovato and Rose Byrne in Tow, an upcoming drama feature film currently in production.

As reported in Deadline, the film also stars Dominic Sessa. Tow dramatizes a true story based on the experiences of Amanda Ogle, who was homeless in Seattle while living in her car and was forced to reclaim her livelihood after being handed an impossible tow bill for $21,634. It sounds like some foul stuff that happens often, and it most certainly went down in real life for Ogle. Her story was profiled around the who’s who of news outlets, and Tow takes the story head on every step of the way.

Tow is being directed by Stephanie Laing from a script by Jonathan Keasey, Brant Boivin, and Annie Weisman, with Ogle herself executive producing with DeBose, Keasey, Jonathan Tropper, Josh Ricks, Danny Gusman, The Exchange’s Nat McCormick and Giovanna Trischitta and Kevin Eggers. Liang also makes cakes and death pictures through her newly formed company. Byrne also produces with Votiv Films’ Justin Lothrop, Brent Stiefel, The Exchange’s Danyelle Foord, and Brian O’Shea.

DeBose is known for starring as Anita in the Oscar-nominated West Side Story. She recently starred in Disney’s latest animated film, Wish, and Apple Original Films’ action/adventure Argylle. DeBose is also starring in Sony’s upcoming R-rated anti-hero film Kraven the Hunter.

Spencer recently starred in Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker and Truth Be Told, among other projects. She is also set to star in the new Prime Video action series with Hannah Waddingham.

‘Kendall Roy Parts Ways With Scooter Braun’: The Jokes Are Flying After Multiple Artists Parted Ways With Manager/Taylor Swift-Nemesis Scooter Braun

What’s going on with Scooter Braun? Over the last few days the big time music manager has been losing clients left and right. Reportedly gone from his rolodex are Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Idina Menzel. Rumors had it Justin Bieber was vamoosing, too, but both parties have shot that one down (for now). Braun has claimed it’s really just him cutting back on the day-to-day of managing so he can spend more time as CEO of HYBE America. Others have suggested there’s a reason he’s switching jobs. Whatever the case, it’s inspired some hilarious memes on that joint previously called Twitter.

The fun seemed to begin after reports of Menzel’s departure dropped.

Soon people were joking that fictional musicians, from movies and TV, were joining the mass exodus from Braun’s services.

Other characters, however, weren’t leaving but joining Braun’s team.

Some chose real people who were fictionally teaming with Braun.

Some thought outside the box, choosing inanimate objects.

Amidst all the news, Taylor Swift — whose back catalog was infamously bought and sold off by Braun, prompting her to re-record them all — came up.

Everyone was having a good time, and then Braun himself had to get in on the joke.

But it was a good run for a good meme.

Why Are Artists Leaving Scooter Braun?

Over the past few days, there have been reports that some of Scooter Braun’s biggest clients are seeking new management: Billboard reported yesterday that Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have left Braun. That followed reports that Justin Bieber, who Braun famously started representing after seeing him on YouTube, was also splitting with Braun, although representatives for both parties declined the rumors.

Regardless, there’s something going on here, so what is it?

Variety has a new report that seems to offer some answers. What appears to be happening is that Braun is actually taking a step back from hands-on, day-to-day artist management so he can put more energy into being CEO of HYBE America.

A source told the publication, “All of Scooter Braun’s clients are under contract and negotiations have been going on for several months as Scooter steps into his larger role as HYBE America CEO. People are spreading rumors based on what they know, but they are off. Scooter’s team at SB Projects are still handling both Justin and Ariana as they work through what this new structure looks like.”

Meanwhile, Variety also cites sources with conflicting perspectives. One said, “He’s imploding. It’s a different world since the pandemic. You just can’t be an asshole like that anymore.” Another noted, “He’s getting out of management — he has been for years. That’s the real story.”

Braun himself cryptically addressed the situation today (August 22), tweeting, “Breaking news… I’m no longer managing myself.” That is so far the only public comment Braun has offered about the rumors.

Demi Lovato Reveals Why She Changed Pronouns

Demi Lovato's Alleged Dealer was Arrested for Guns and Drugs Months Before her OD

Demi Lovato says she’s back to using “she” and “her” pronouns again. The 29-year-old Pop singer made the announcement in an interview on the Spout Podcast.

Lovato says she started using “they” and “them” pronouns last year because at the time she was “balanced” in “masculine and feminine energy,” but now she’s adopted she/her again because she feels more feminine.

“So, for me, I’m such a fluid person that I don’t really, I don’t find that I am.. I felt like, especially last year, my energy was balanced in my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said ‘women’ and ‘men,’ I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman. I didn’t feel like a man. I just felt like a human,” she explained.

The former Disney star continued, “And that’s what they/them is about. For me, it’s just about like feeling human at your core.”

The “Cool For The Summer” singer didn’t mention that she’s completely jumping ship from ever using “they” and “them” as pronouns, she seemingly implied that she is adding “she” and “her.”

G-Eazy And Demi Lovato Confront Their Reflections For A Haunting Peformance Of ‘Breakdown’

G-Eazy’s got a new album, These Things Happen Too, out and to mark the release, the Bay Area star hit the Tonight Show stage with pop singer Demi Lovato to perform the haunting “Breakdown” from the new project. The performance, which takes place on a two-sided stage adorned with mirrors, finds the duo confronting their controversies as images of the various headlines written about them flash on the screens behind them.

Between them, the two have accumulated enough headlines to wallpaper a museum wing. Most recently, G-Eazy was in the news for a fight outside a hotel bar and filing a restraining order against an alleged stalker. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato recently came out as non-binary, drawing criticism from conservative corners of the internet.

However, both stars also have their fair share of good news, as well. G-Eazy recently started a wellness brand, FlowerShop, giving an interview to Uproxx’s Dane Rivera about the new brand, and has strung together an impressive list of features in 2021, including on EST Gee’s “At Will.” Meanwhile, Lovato recently helped to honor queer icon Elton John at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards, so both seem to be doing alright, even despite their respective mishaps.
