There’s a lot of competition among female rappers these days. Instead of letting this hold them back, our favourite femcees are using it to get more creative than ever before, constantly finding new ways to set themselves apart from contemporaries. A great example of this is Flo Milli, who nearly always stays out of the way in terms of drama, but has never been known to miss when spitting over a beat. She particularly proved this during last year’s celebrations for the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and continues to make her presence felt while readying her sophomore studio album, Fine Ho, Stay.

Recent singles to come from the Alabama native include “Never Lose Me” (plus subsequent remixes with Lil Yachty and Bryson Tiller) and “BGC.” Music lovers think these titles might arrive on Milli’s next album, along with tracks like “Hot Box,” “Chocolate Rain,” and “Fruit Loop.” As her most popular release continues to make rounds on TikTok and Instagram, the 24-year-old has plans to capitalize on it even further, this time tapping a renowned female vocalist to join her on the gerreaux-produced beat.

SZA & Flo Milli Confirm Their First Collab is OTW

Since Milli first hinted at joining forces with SZA, we’ve been eagerly waiting for the next edition of “Never Lose Me” to hit streamers. However, the “Pussycat Doll” hitmaker shared via Twitter/X earlier this month that she won’t be sharing this version as a single. “I’m not putting the remix out ’til I drop my album ‘cuz [I know] how y’all get lol,” she teased. “But it’s in the box ,” the TDE songstress chimed in, letting us know she’s submitted her verse.

With her Fine Ho, Stay LP being confirmed over seven months ago now, hip-hop heads are growing curious to see who Flo Milli will reference both aesthetically and sonically throughout the project. On her Twitter/X profile, Papa Bear’s mom only had more love to give her longtime friend. “There’s only one holiday in #GagCity and that’s #QUEENRih birthday,” Minaj tweeted. “Dear Rih, Thank you. Love always, – an immigrant,” she added, referencing their shared bond of originally hailing from outside of America. It’s unclear if they have plans to collaborate again in the future, but the Barbz would surely like to see it.

Rihanna’s Navy was happy to help her celebrate her 36th birthday this week, and they’ve only grown more enthused since her beau, ASAP Rocky, confirmed that a new album is on the way. We’ve heard her vocals shine alongside Tinashe and Offset on Calvin Harris’ “New To You” in recent years, not to mention her solo “Fair” single that set the tone for what’s next in this upcoming era of music. Besides that, Normani also collaborated with Cardi B on “Wild Side,” and KAYTRANADA for a must-hear remix of the same single in 2021. Fans have been eagerly waiting to hear what’s next from the multi-talent, and earlier this week, it looked like those announcements might finally be coming out. However, eagle-eyed social media sleuths were quick to speculate that the black-haired beauty might be running one of her own stan accounts on Twitter/X.

On Tuesday (February 20), R&B lovers noticed that Normani’s Instagram profile had been cleared out – this is a common tactic for many artists to usher in a new era. When @normanination reposted a screenshot of the blank account, writing, “WHAT IS HAPPENING” above it, some quickly spotted the “Edit profile” button, suggesting that whoever captured the image was already logged into the former girl group star’s profile. For her first single of 2024, Atlanta’s Kaliii is making a bold return with “BOZO,” which celebrates the femcee regaining her freedom after ending a toxic relationship.

“Last night me and that ni**a broke up / I’m outside, man, that ni**a f**ked up,” the Toxic Chocolate artist says on her first verse, not holding back from the jump. “That ni**a striked out, he done played again / Caught him with a h* in her baby ass Benz,” Kaliii continues, seemingly insinuating that cheating lead to her relationship’s demise.

Whatever’s going on between Latto and Ice Spice definitely isn’t as tense as the drama between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj. However, hip-hop heads have been curious to see how the two younger women will handle the beef that’s been brewing between them for months now. While they’ve never come to blows in person, there’s been plenty of subliminal shade thrown online, and more recently in the studio too. After the redhead confirmed that her first single of 2024 is a diss aimed at Latto, the 25-year-old seems to have aimed at Spice on her “Sunday Service” song, which hit DSPs today (February 9).

Not long after the single’s debut, the former reality star shared its accompanying visual, much of which was filmed in her opp’s neighbourhood – The Bronx in New York. “Every time y’all book me with them h**s, it’s gon’ be big drama / Twenty black Suburbans, we pull up like Sunday Service,” Latto enunciates on her hook. In the following verse is when her apparent shot at Spice comes out. “These b**ches corny, soon as monkey see, then you know monkey do / Do you rap or do you tweet ’cause I can’t tell, get in the booth, b**ch,” she begins.

Supporters who have been running up streams on “HISS” since it first dropped weren’t surprised to see the diss track debut at the top of the prestigious list. Of course, the Houston Queen of Rap broke several records on Spotify after Minaj shot back at her nemesis with “Big Foot.” Now, it’s Ice Spice and Latto who are carrying on the femcee feud baton, as the blonde beauty gears up to drop her “Sunday Service” single this week.

On Monday (February 5), the 777 artist revealed the cover art for her first solo track of the year. It sees Latto posting braless in a white tank top and dark wash jeans, golden accessories around her neck, wrist, and fingers, along with a pair of hoops in her ears. The Atlanta-based baddie’s hair was worn in a curly updo, and her eyes were blacked out with a rectangular bar. As many are pointing out online, Latto’s background is a wall of photos of other rap divas, such as Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, GloRilla, and Coi Leray, whose eyes are also blocked off in a similar fashion
