Soulja Boy Laughed Off Drake’s Recent Comments About Bow Wow’s Influence

Just a little over two years ago, Soulja Boy had his infamous “Drake??” moment on The Breakfast Club, where the “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” rapper claimed he helped influence Drake’s early success. Fast forward to the present and it’s clear that his sentiments have not changed.

Souja recently took to Twitter to share his displeasures with Drake’s recent comments about Bow Wow’s influence on him, which he had posted on Instagram. “I had to link with Wizzle,” Drake said. “Everybody wants to have drinks and everybody wants to celebrate and turn up and, you know, I just had to see Wizzle. I had to see Wizzle in person. If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be no me. That’s why I’mma rock with y’all forever.”

But Souja had said he was lying. “That n**** drake is hilarious. Dude stole my whole bar then thanked bow wow,” he said. Drake showed love to Bow Wow after the three songs on his EP Scary Hours 2 debuted within the top three positions of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. As a result of the feat, he held a party to commemorate the accomplishment, which Bow Wow attended.

Despite all this, it’s likely the two rappers will stay on good terms. After his 2019 The Breakfast Club appearance, Soulja shared an Instagram direct message conversation between him and Drake, in which the Toronto rapper wrote, “You know it’s always been love all jokes aside.”

Deante’ Hitchcock Aims To One-Up Drake’s ‘Scary Hours 2’ Track ‘What’s Next’ With A Witty Freestyle

Deante’ Hitchcock hasn’t announced a follow-up to his excellent 2020 debut album Better yet, but it looks like he’s got his eye on ensuring a bigger, more attention-getting rollout this time around. The Atlanta rapper has spent the last two weeks raising his profile by rapping on other artists’ hits as part of his #NewAtlantaTuesdays initiative and on his latest, he aims to one-up one of the biggest artists out: Drake. Hijacking the beat from Drake’s Scary Hours 2 single “What’s Next,” Hitchcock delivers a witty freestyle showcasing his clever wordplay and relentless flow.

The video accompanying the freestyle takes a similar lighthearted-but-competitive tack, depicting a neighborhood Nerf gun shootout with Hitchcock and his friends. They definitely seem to be having a blast in the video, as does Deante on the track as he snaps off slick lines like “Tell Charmin I’m on a roll and I did this sh*t off the dome / Ain’t signing to TDE, but I got Top on the phone.”

Deante’s last #NewAtlantaTuesdays freestyle found him imitating Tupac and doing the TikTok Junebug Challenge as he rapped to SpottemGotem’s “BeatBox” after capping his stellar 2020 with a live version of Better.

Drake Offers Major Praise For Bow Wow: ‘If It Wasn’t For You, There Wouldn’t Be No Me’

It was revealed yesterday that Drake has done something that no other artist before him ever has: He had three songs — “What’s Next,” “Wants And Needs” featuring Lil Baby, and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” with Rick Ross, aka the entirety of the Scary Hours 2 EP — simultaneously debut in the top three spots of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. That’s cause for celebration and Drake did so by shouting out another rapper who he credits as a major inspiration: Bow Wow.

After receiving the news, Drake decided to have a “1 2 3” party, which had everything from 1-, 2-, and 3-shaped balloons to a cake that had the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart printed on it. He shared some videos of the shindig on his Instagram Stories, including a clip of him and Bow Wow playfully chatting with each other and the camera. In another clip, he said of Bow Wow, “I had to link with Wizzle. Everybody wants to have drinks and everybody wants to celebrate and turn up and, you know, I just had to see Wizzle. I had to see Wizzle in person. If it wasn’t for you, there wouldn’t be no me. That’s why I’mma rock with y’all forever.”
