Janet Jackson Sparks Outrage Online For Her Controversial Kamala Harris Take

A lot of celebrities these days are endorsing either Kamala Harris or Donald Trump for U.S. President, whether their takes are based in actual policy agreements or not. Moreover, it’s been a controversial ride to see what discussions, debates, and combative back-and-forths occur as a result, especially in the hip-hop world. However, outside of that conversation, Janet Jackson recently ruffled a lot of feathers online during her recent interview with The Guardian. In it, the interviewer asked her about the prospect of potentially getting the first female president – and the first Black female president – in United States history.

“Well, you know what they supposedly said?” Janet Jackson asked the interviewer, who had asked the singer this Kamala Harris question due to her own references to social justice and racial equity. “She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian.” “Well, she’s both,” the interviewer replied, referencing Harris’ Jamaican father and Kamala’s mother’s view of her as a Black daughter. “Her father’s white,” Janet responded. “That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”

Then, the interviewer asked Janet Jackson whether she thinks that the United States is “ready for [Kamala Harris]” as, if not a Black woman, then as a woman of color. “I don’t know,” she posited. “Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem.” Of course, this led to a whole variety of reactions from fans who came across this, as they either agree with the Las Vegas concert resident or condemned her assessment of Harris’ racial identity. Nicki Minaj has arguably been Lil Wayne’s strongest defender amid the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show controversy. She blasted Jay-Z for the supposedly hate-fueled decision to not appoint Lil Wayne for the New Orleans stage next year. All of these details and many more are still unclear. But we got a new claim to add to these contradictions. Jesse Collins, a producer for the spectacle since 2021, recently claimed that Hov is the one who has final say in what artists perform, and that the show is largely of his own design.

“It’s a decision that Jay makes,” Jesse Collins said of the Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Kendrick Lamar controversy. “Since we’ve been on board with that show, he’s made it every year, and it’s been amazing. He’s always picked right!” Nicki Minaj reacted to this by replying to a report on the matter with a laughing emoji on Twitter. Even though we don’t know what she’s exactly laughing at here, we can make a pretty obvious assumption that she still blames him at least partially for what went down.

Also, Nicki Minaj’s disdain for Jay-Z extends to other business dealings, primarily how she allegedly never saw a dime for partnering with his TIDAL streaming service. This is all a bit tragic but also unsurprising to see given the very complicated relationship between Young Money and the Roc, which extends to the rest of the rap world. Regardless of where you fall on that Super Bowl debate, seeing the late 2000s and early 2010s implode among itself in 2024 has been one of the most significant rap moments of the year.

The Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans next year on February 9 quickly became one of the hottest hip-hop debates of the year. Moreover, we’re sure you already have your take on Kendrick Lamar getting the headlining slot, and on Lil Wayne missing out on it despite NOLA being his home city. What none of us really know is what the actual process for this looked like. Some fans believe that Jay-Z, who works with the NFL for entertainment endeavors, made the final decision, whereas other reports indicate that it’s not so simple. But as if we needed more contradicting narratives and claims, we now have a new one to unpack.

Jesse Collins, an executive producer for the Super Bowl halftime show since 2021, recently dropped a bombshell claim in his recent Variety interview. “It’s a decision that Jay makes,” he said of the selection process. “Since we’ve been on board with that show, he’s made it every year, and it’s been amazing. He’s always picked right!” While this is a pretty literal statement, it’s impossible to know for sure whether Collins is really talking about a one-sided decision. Elsewhere during the interview, Jesse Collins said more about next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, specifically the Lil Wayne controversy. “We love Wayne,” he remarked. “There’s always Vegas odds on who’s going to get to perform it. But I think we’re going to do an amazing show with Kendrick, and I think everybody’s going to love the halftime show. I know Kendrick is going to work exceptionally hard to deliver an amazing show.” Collins also had high praise for K.Dot and Beyoncé’s performance of “Freedom” at the 2016 BET Awards, a spectacle he also helped produce.

Joe Budden Receives Barrage Of Backlash For Take On Tyla & Her Behavior At The VMAs

One of the most controversial talking heads in all of hip-hop is back at it again. Over the weekend, Joe Budden and the crew got to discussing the MTV VMAs that went down last Wednesday. The main focus during that portion of the podcast had to do with Tyla. Overall, there are some that feel she was acting snobby and standoffish throughout the entire program. For example, some were critiquing her for the way she was asking Lil Nas X and Halle Bailey to help her hold her award onstage.

This led to Armon Wiggins, a pretty big multi-media personality, to call out Tyla on social media. “Hey, I don’t think I like TYLA’s personality. I think someone needs to check her ’cause she doesn’t understand American culture AT ALL. She almost gives off entitled or uppity African vibes. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s very off-putting, and it’s almost like she expects people to just fall at her feet”.

This quote sparked debate on Joe Budden’s show as he was in complete agreement, according to IOL. Apparently, he’s been feeling this way about the “Water” hitmaker, citing an incident at one of USHER’s past shows being the catalyst. In the resurfaced clip above, USHER appears to try and get Tyla to dance on him, but she subtly dodges that advance of assumed showmanship. Joe felt she should have done it out of respect because the R&B legend was trying to show her love by doing this all while dancing to “Water”. However, his panel of co-hosts was in total disagreement, mentioning that she’s in a relationship and didn’t want to disrespect her man. Terence Crawford Reacts To The UFC’s Kendrick Lamar Mix-Up

The UFC has to answer some odd questions about their broadcast, as they made a major mix-up during a recent match. Moreover, the television stream identified boxer Terence Crawford in the stands as Kendrick Lamar, which understandably resulted in some backlash and racism accusations. What’s more is that it’s possible that this was actually intentional, albeit miscommunicated and confusingly presented. K.Dot actually references Crawford on “euphoria,” which is why many folks online saw this as more of a joke. We might never know for sure, and you will have your opinion on whether it’s insensitive even with this possible intent in mind.

However, it seems like Terence Crawford couldn’t help but laugh at this situation, so it seems like there are no hard feelings. “Damn @kendricklamar [two crying-laughing emojis],” he wrote on his Instagram Story this weekend along with a screenshot of UFC’s mix-up. It played Kendrick Lamar’s “euphoria” verse shouting Terence out in the background. Maybe Crawford and the “Watch The Party Die” MC have a more strong criticism of this practice. But for now, the former is just reacting to the antics and having fun with them.

As far as other Kendrick Lamar news, Usher recently gave him advice for his Super Bowl halftime show. “Everybody has this fifteen minutes of fame idea, but it’s really your fifteen minutes of fame,” the singer remarked on Live with Kelly and Mark. “You have to play hits. You’ve got to get right to it.” “I want no part of that. I’m sorry,” he joked about the possibility of mediating the Drake beef. “Let’s just say, it’s been a great experience to say that I could play the Super Bowl. I understand how much pressure comes with it and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. But I would wish it on you if you’ve had the career.”

50 Cent agrees, as he called Kendrick Lamar’s battle “good for the culture.” “Both Drake and Kendrick produced quality music faster because they had to compete with each other,” he shared on The Talk. “That competitive nature made them go work and have responses. During an interview with The Shade Room, DJ Hed gave his definitive take on the Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne Super Bowl debacle. “I mean, I don’t like the comparisons,” he began. “I don’t like the negativity around it, I don’t think it’s needed. For people who are completely self-absorbed and people who are selfish in a certain way – ‘Cause it’s The Shade Room: I’m not talking about Nicki, Drake, Stunna or nobody like that. I’m just saying that the Internet and the fans and people cause these types of disruptions. I think it’s unfair taking away from people’s moments.

“When you look at Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne is one of them ones in a real way,” DJ Hed continued. “This is not to diminish his legacy or take away from anything that he’s done culturally or musically. He’s a legend. All of these dudes is his sons. That’s a fact, right? So because all of these dudes is his sons, I think he’s owed that respect. NLE Choppa’s Baby Mama Addresses “Coming Out” Post And Whether Or Not He’s Gay

NLE Choppa’s recent attempt to stir the online pot was pretty successful, even if it was the most predictable thing in the world. He tweeted “I’m Coming Out…” with some mirror selfies and then clarified that it was for a new song, which is queer-baiting at its finest. However, the Memphis MC isn’t doing so in the traditionally pejorative way that this term exists in. Usually, that refers to people trying to be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community by giving signals of their identity, but really they just want to reach that audience. He, on the other hand, is doing this to point out the hypocrisy and bigotry that’s still present against many rappers, as he’s made his sexuality clear before. Choppa’s baby mama Marissa took to her IG Live to speak on this matter.

“My baby daddy is not gay,” Marissa began concerning NLE Choppa. “He is not gay. *laughs* He’s not gay, he’s just trolling y’all because y’all think he gay. Or whatever the f**k, I don’t know why y’all troll him. But it’s a marketing strategy. It’s an attention-seeking thing. He not gay. I mean, if he was, that’s his preference.” Then, she went on to sing the classic “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross for a couple of bars. Overall, it seems like this is exactly the kind of social media swindle that everyone guessed was happening with Choppa’s tweet.

It’s a complicated issue, and one for which we have no authority to judge NLE Choppa’s authenticity, earnestness, or message. That is not our place, but rather than of the LGBTQIA+ community who are discussing his actions, his support, and his statements in relation to their struggles. The 21-year-old is very supportive of the community, and what we can do from the perspective of fellow allies is applaud that and continue to learn from what the community chooses.

Meanwhile, his brash style at New York Fashion Week is also drawing a lot of conversation. Yung Miami Draws Mixed Reactions To Her Bizarre New York Fashion Week Look

Yung Miami was turning heads and raising eyebrows during New York Fashion Week thanks to a pretty unique and even perhaps controversial outfit choice. Moreover, she donned a sheer see-through dress adorned with many black “A’s” to adorn her skin, as well as added black floral pieces around her legs, arms, and chest. The big detail is a larger black flower on Caresha’s face that covers most of her mouth, eyes, and nose, but leaves one circle completely open for her to peer with her right eye through. It’s a pretty eclectic and stylish combo, and one that pairs well for someone who might not want to be fully in the public eye due to the scandal involving Diddy.

Regardless, that’s just an unconfirmed and purely speculative interpretation of what Yung Miami’s dress could mean or symbolize. “When you in witness protection but still got to go to events to pay the rent,” one user joked about the Diddy situation. But this new interview also saw him reflect on past injustices throughout his career and how they eventually saw retribution. Moreover, the entertainer accused producer Harvey Weinstein of stealing his and his family’s ideas for Scary Movie 3. While this and other factors made Wayans consider a lawsuit, the multiple sexual misconduct convictions that Weinstein faced years down the line ended up serving justice. The actor also accused the executive of subjecting him and his family to very poor deals and not being able to make as good of a comedy film as they could.

Ralo Is Still Demanding A Conversation With Boosie Badazz Amid Their Beef

Ralo and Boosie Badazz are apparently still going at it, and what was once a misunderstanding might turn legitimately contentious. Moreover, for those unaware, the former angered the latter when he said that he doesn’t want to be rapping in his 40s or 50s like Badazz is. The Atlanta rapper didn’t really mean this as a diss, though; just that he has different priorities in mind for when he reaches his Baton Rouge rhyming colleague’s age. After trying to explain himself while responding to Boosie’s attacks, he followed this up with an Instagram message on Thursday (September 5) doubling down on his demands for a sit-down.

“You think you just gone go up on me while im in prison can’t fight for myself and when i get out I wasn’t gone say s**t,” Ralo wrote to Boosie. “Man you crazy as hell you gotta give me ah fade or sum (BOXING MATCH) and I ain’t talkin about that mf haircut. You let n***as pull up and turn you against me, but when I try to pull up and show my part you dodging me. Like what the hell part of the game that is bruh???
