The Weeknd Reveals Lil Baby Collab On “The Idol” Soundtrack

“The Idol” soundtrack might just be the best part about the HBO series, or at least that’s what people online suggest. Regardless of your thoughts on The Weeknd’s show, his latest announcement on what its original music will feature (or rather who) should get you even more amped. Moreover, Abel Tesfaye recently confirmed that he and Lil Baby will release their first official collaboration as part of “The Idol”‘s soundtrack. This follows other high-profile collabs with the likes of Playboi Carti, Madonna, JENNIE from BLACKPINK, and many more on the project. Still, you might be thinking, “Haven’t I heard these two together before?”

You would be right, as the two didn’t officially collab together on a track of their own. However, the Canadian superstar and the Atlanta trap leader both appeared on Kanye West’s track “Hurricane” from his 2021 album Donda. Not only was that a fan-favorite hit (that still doesn’t touch the original leak in this writer’s eyes), but a commercial smash as well. As such, expectations are high as to what the upcoming “False Idols” could be, and the potential for it to be the best song on the whole soundtrack for rap fans.

The Weeknd Teases Lil Baby Collab

In other “The Idol”-related news, The Weeknd recently broke down what he and the rest of the team intended with it. “We’re playing with genres with this show, we’re doing exactly what we wanted to do,” he remarked to Variety. “And none of this is a surprise. I’m excited for everyone to watch the rest of the show. It’s almost educational, that this is what comes with being incredibly famous. You’re surrounded by people who you’re not sure what their true intentions are, even if it seems like they’re good. You just never know.”

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old continues to respond to fan hate on Twitter concerning the show’s themes, writing, and acting. Unfortunately, a lot of that negative discussion has caused people to not be super invested in the quality tracks that have formed part of the soundtrack. Perhaps this new collab is what will bring it to the forefront of discussion. On that note, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on The Weeknd and Lil Baby.

Young Thug & Drake Plan A “Parade on Cleveland” On Their New Fan Favourite Collab

Young Thug and Drake is a duo that’s given us no shortage of fire collaborations over the years. “Way 2 Sexy” with Future and “Sacrifices” with 2 Chainz are definite standouts, though we also frequently revisit “Ice Melts” and “Bubbly” with Travis Scott. Though Thugger remains behind bars as his YSL RICO trial wages on, his team managed to drop an album on his behalf, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, which has the Atlanta-based artist on top of his game once again.

Opening the 15-track effort is “Parade on Cleveland,” a nearly four-minute long song that features Drake and finds him showing off his singing chops over Metro Boomin’s dreamy production. “Ayy, soon as I’m fresh out the box like a Tic-Tac / We havin’ sex soon as I get my b**ch back / It ain’t gon’ be sexy when I get my lick back,” the 36-year-old cleverly rhymes shortly after the song begins. Later we hear a phone call between Thug and his friend, during which he seemingly throws shade at Gunna.

Drake Opens Young Thug’s BUSINESS IS BUSINESS Album with “Parade on Cleveland”

“Uh, I ain’t doin’ s**t, man / Just pushin’ more Peter, more sweeter, more completer / Than any Peter pusher around,” the So Much Fun hitmaker tells Drake from Cobb County Jail. “See what I’m sayin’, twin? Ha (Ha-ha-ha),” he added as both men laugh. Of course, the track follows Gunna’s a Gift & a Curse album, which put him back in the good graces of many hip-hop heads after being outcast for taking a plea deal in the YSL RICO case.

Learn the lyrics to Young Thug and Drake’s “Parade on Cleveland” in the video above, or add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Who has your favourite feature on the YSL rapper’s BUSINESS IS BUSINESS album? Let us know in the comments, and check back later this weekend for more HNHH release recommendations.

J. Cole & Bas Have Another Collab Single On The Way

Dreamville is among the best hip-hop labels out right now, and a particularly unified and familial one at that. As such, it’s no surprise that two of their most acclaimed and skilled MCs would want to feed fans with a collab once again. Moreover, Bas just teased via Twitter that he has a “summer heater” with J. Cole set to release soon. Of course, fans expect the single to also appear on the former’s upcoming album, We Only Talk About Real S**t When We’re F***ed Up. It also seems like this is a very recent collaboration that they cooked up, so it’ll be fresh out of the studio onto release platforms.

“gave my bro @djmoma an exclusive summer heaaater me and Cole cooked up this week,” Bas tweeted on Saturday (June 17). “pull up on my @everydayppl fam in a city near you to hear it. song not out nowhere don’t look.” According to the event series’ website, the next Everyday People bash will take place on July 1 in Detroit, Michigan (find info here). Hopefully it gets here sooner rather than later so that we can enjoy this track with as much of the summer left as possible.

Bas Teases J. Cole-Assisted “Summer Heater”

Fans likely know the duo for “Tr*be,” a standout 2018 cut that features impeccable verses from both MCs. In addition, they collaborated on “Night” back in 2016 and on “The Jackie” in 2021, and they go back further than that. Another link-up occurred with Bas’ various contributions to the Creed III soundtrack, which J. Cole executive produced. All in all, there’s no reason not to expect more fireworks from the two, especially considering their years of chemistry and versatility as hip-hop artists.

Meanwhile, it’s actually quite notable that they collaborated on the track so little ago and that it’ll come out so fast. After all, we recently found out that sometimes Cole takes his time working on team-ups. Lil Durk recently shared that their recent song “All My Life” was in the works for about two years while Durk searched for “the right record” to send him. That being said, the spontaneity should certainly inspire more excitement than discouragement, as there’s more than one way for him to bring heat. For the latest news on J. Cole and Bas, check back in with HNHH.

Lil Durk & J. Cole Spent Two Year Looking For “The Right Record” To Collab

It might seem silly or too soon to start thinking about which songs from 2023 will get nominated come next year’s awards season. Still, if you’re going to entertain yourself with that notion, “All My Life” by Lil Durk and J. Cole seems like a surefire prediction. Moreover, the track is a perfect blend of contemporary style, timeless messaging, and impressive lyrical displays, bridging all sorts of worlds within hip-hop. What’s more is that the collaborators spoke for two years before finally landing on this record in particular. During his latest interview, Smurk expanded to Nadeska on how the song came about.

“He went super cr*zy,” the Chicago MC said of the North Carolina native’s performance on the cut. “And it’s so cr*zy because we’d been talking for, like, two years. He’d always be like, ‘Send me a record.’ And I’m like, ‘I gotta find the right record.’ Man, I’m glad it wasn’t three years. In my eyes, he a legend so if you have a chance to do a song with a legend, you either send them something just to send it, just to say you got one, or you gon’ make it stick. But that’s why I never just sent him a record. ‘Cause I’m like, ‘I want something that’s gon’ stick.’ Yeah, as soon as I did the record, he’s the first person that popped into my head. I’m like, ‘I got it.’ Yeah, that’s why I believe in timing. Timing is everything.”

Lil Durk On Waiting For The Right J. Cole Collab Record

Of course, this is far from the first time that Lil Durk praised J. Cole’s performance. “I had to listen to it like four times,” he said of the verse. “You know I ain’t super big on lyricist-type rappers. With Cole, [he] was one of the ones, like him and Jay, you gotta play them 50 times to catch what they’re saying. Like, if you listen to Lil Wayne right now, and you heard some s**t ten years ago that you just catch onto today. But he definitely gave me one of them verses and I appreciate it. ‘Cause he ain’t even have to, for real. He could’ve gave us anything.”

Meanwhile, Cole’s manager Ibrahim Hamad clarified rumors that The Voice paid him almost a million dollars for the feature. While he quickly called cap on that number, such a moment this year was surely priceless for many fans. One can only imagine what other dream track team-ups Durk is waiting for the perfect moment for. For more on Lil Durk and J. Cole, stay up to date on HNHH.

Royce Da 5’9″ And 100 Kufis Link Up On New Track “No Love”

After appearing on a number of new songs and a new EP, Royce Da 5’9″ is back with his first new single of the year. The Detroit legend returned with his new song “No Love” which features underground rapper 100 Kufis. The song was released as part of a collaboration with the app Tully. Tully is a music management app aimed at helping artists and managers with industry business. The app was co-founded by Joyner Lucas who uses it to help manage his independent rap career, according to their website.

Royce Da 5’9″ has guest featured on a trio of new singles this year. Shortee Blitz, Dem Southernfolkz, and Grafh have all dropped new singles that he appears on. He also released a new EP back in March called The Heaven Experience. The project features appearances from Redman, Courtney Bell, and Traxx Sanders. It serves as a sort of companion EP to The Heaven Experience Vol. 1, the album Royce dropped last year.

Royce Da 5’9″s New Track For Tully

Earlier this year, Royce Da 5’9″ had some massive praise to dish out for one of his favorite current rappers. In an Instagram post he made back in February, Royce described Tyler, The Creator as “one of the greatest.” He also made some waves last year when he claimed that he and Black Thought might release a collaborative album at some point. He revealed that the pair had been working on an album, but busy schedules got in the way before they could finish it. That won’t come as a surprise to anyone following Black Thought. After concluding his Streams Of Thought series the Roots rapper has made collab albums with Dangermouse and El Michels Affair in the last two years.

Black Thought showed up for a feature on Royce’s last album. He appeared in the tracklist alongside Eminem, Pusha T, Rick Ross, Big K.R.I.T, and many more. What do you think of RoyceDa 5’9″‘s new song? Let us know in the comment section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the music world.

Nicki Minaj & Karol G Give Each Other Their Flowers, Explain “Tusa” Collab

“Tusa” was one of the most explosive and instantly beloved reggaetón crossover tracks of the past few years, thanks in no small part to Karol G and Nicki Minaj’s chemistry and performances. Recently, the Colombian star served as the cover star for Elle and had an interview with them where she spoke on the collab. “When I had this song, I just text on Instagram to Nicki Minaj,” she explained. “We never had met before, and it was so special for me that she loves the song, and she just jump on it- like, singing lyrics in Spanish. We were really grateful about her celebrating our Latina community. And I remember [during] the pandemic, this song was one that people used to sing in the balconies, so this one is really, really special. I know you love ‘Tusa.’ I love ‘Tusa,’ too.”

Then, when a fan reposted the message on Twitter, the Trinidadian rap legend also showered Karol in praise while going into more detail. “But the thing is, Karol sent me another song @ first & I asked her to send smthng else,” Minaj wrote. “She didn’t want to b/c she said the reggaeton was what was popping at the time. But she still sent a new song. When I heard Tusa I fell in love. I think I was pregnant. I was dancing w/husband non stop in the backyard. We swore we were doing the merengue. The song made us feel so happy. That’s how I knew it was the one.”

Nicki Minaj & Karol G Still Love Their Collab

However, this prompted fans to once again ask for a performance of the song from the two, which Nicki Minaj also spoke on. “To be fair, Karol asked me to perform it with her on 2 different award shows, if I recall correctly.,” the 40-year-old expressed. “By that time I had gotten preggers tho & I was still keeping it a secret. I hated having to pass up on it but papa was growing in mama tummy. Lo siento por mis fans Latinos.”

The Queen Further Speaks On “Tusa”

In fact, fans might remember that this is far from the first time that Nicki addressed rumors about the track. “The fact that y’all believed that dopey fkng lie?!? LMAO,” she said of a rumor that Cardi B suggested she passed on the song to spite Minaj. “That’s exactly why I’m checkin everything IMMEDIATELY from now on. Who?? Passed on what?? This isn’t even the 1st song Karol sent me. I asked her for ANOTHER song AFTER the 1st option & when she sent this I LOVED it [heart smiling emoji].” For more news on Karol G and the latest updates on Nicki Minaj, check back in with HNHH.

Tyler, The Creator Pulls Up To Lil Yachy’s House

Lil Yachty shared a series of pictures and videos from a trip Tyler, The Creator recently took to his house in a post on Instagram, Saturday afternoon. In the post, Tyler makes fun of Batman, pulls down the pants on a toy modeled after Yachty, and more.

“Tyler verbally abusing Batman is insane to see,” one fan commented in response. Another wrote, “Nah pulling down the back of his pants is crazy.” Other fans called on the two to release a collaborative album together. “You convince him to do the album?” one user asked Yachty. At one point in the post, Tyler plays piano, but it’s unclear if the two actually worked on music together.

Yachty previously discussed the idea of working on an album with Tyler following the release of his latest project, Let’s Start Here. Speaking with Billboard, Yachty revealed that Tyler served as a major inspiration for the album. “I would love to do a project with Tyler [The Creator],” Yachty said at the time. “He’s the reason I made this album, he’s the one who told me to do it, just go for it. He’s so confident and I have so much respect for him because he takes me seriously, and he always has.”

The album marked a creative departure for Yachty who opted for a psychedelic rock-influenced sound. “Fuck any of the albums I dropped before this one,” he also controversially said. “I came into music in a time where rap was real hardcore, it was real street. And a bunch of us kids came in with colorful hair and dressing different and basically said, ‘Move out the way, old fucks. We on some other shit.’ I was young and I didn’t really give a fuck, so I did do things that may have led people to the assumptions that I was a mumble rapper or a SoundCloud kid or I don’t appreciate the history of hip-hop.”

Ice Spice & Taylor Swift Collab Dropping Soon, EZMNY Records President Claims

Ice Spice has been in the spotlight for less than a year now, but already she’s been a part of some seriously impressive collaborations. She and fellow New Yorker Lil Tjay showed out on “Gangsta Boo” from her debut EP (even if their music video shoot was derailed by an unexpected arrest) and English songstress Pinkpantheress brought her onto “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2,” which quickly became a success on TikTok and other platforms. More recently, the 23-year-old crossed her dream feature off of her bucket list thanks to Nicki Minaj’s appearance on the “Princess Diana (Remix).” Seeing as it’s hard to top the Queen of Rap, the Spice Cabinet has been wondering who she’ll work with next.

If the latest gossip from EZMNY Records President Shawn Barron is true, then the answer may surprise you. During a recent appearance on the One More Time Podcast, the industry executive revealed that the bodacious redhead is apparently working on a song with country-turned-pop star, Taylor Swift. Rumour has it that Spice could make an appearance on the blonde singer’s next release, which would follow her highly successful surprise Midnights album from late 2022. Of course, nothing has been confirmed just yet, though the two stars did share a sweet moment on stage at the iHeartRadioAwards in March.

Are Taylor Swift and Ice Spice Working Together?

At the time, Spice and her foreign collaborator presented the “Fifteen” hitmaker with the Song of the Year award for “Anti-Hero.” As XXL notes, Isis Gaston also spoke with Nylon about her favourite breakup song, which is Swift’s 2012 classic, “We Are Never Getting Back Together.” Taylor doesn’t have a ton of joint songs in her discography, and she typically works with other pop artists, so it’ll certainly be interesting to hear how she and the “Bikini Bottom” hitmaker bring their wildly different sounds together on one single.

Elsewhere in the news, the east coast rap diva dropped a hint over the weekend that we may see her at this evening’s Met Gala. Rihanna has also confirmed that she’ll be attending, setting up a seriously stacked guest list ahead of the big red carpet reveal. Tap into Barron’s full interview on the One More Time podcast below, and let us know if you’d stream a Taylor Swift x Ice Spice joint track in the comments.

Jim Jones, Fabolous, Maino & Dave East Working On Gym-Inspired Album

When it’s time to get gains, rappers often focus just as much on the strength of their pen as they do on the strength of their bodies. Now, four New York MCs are teaming up to bring those two worlds together for a full project- and really show the weight of their work. Moreover, Jim Jones, Fabolous, Maino, and Dave East are reportedly working on a gym-inspired album titled Fit Lit. If you recognize that title, it might be because they released a song of the same name on Jones and DJ Drama’s collab tape, We Set The Trends.

Furthermore, this new information comes straight from Maino, who spoke to the Amazing AllHipHop Podcast. Although he didn’t share a release date, he said that the album is almost done. “I’m gonna tell you some secretive shit that I’ve never talked about,” he revealed to the hosts. “It’s actually an album that’s I’ll say 85 percent done. Me, Jim, Fabolous and Dave East. Fit Lit– it’s us together because we be working out. That’s our little Fit Lit Club. We got some heat.”

Jim Jones, Dave East, Maino & Fabolous’ Fit Lit Album Inspired By Working Out

In addition, the quartet also dropped a music video for their collaborative track, directed by Will G, Shula The Don, and Jim Jones himself. In it, all four trade bars inside the Impact Zone Fitness and Sports Performance gym in Norwood, New Jersey. Not only that, but their fits in the visual actually call back to a viral clip of Capo and Maino roasting Fabolous for his gym wear. Of course, that was ironic because just about a week later, Maino roasted Jim for his outfit while working out.

“Bro, nah, don’t take the coat off now,” Jim joked about Fab’s look. “Yo, look how he come out! We in the gym, bro! Yo bro, why we coming to work out? You got all your s**t laid out for the week?” Hopefully, that playful and friendly banter made for compelling and entertaining bars on Fit Lit. Regardless, we’re sure they’ll update us on gym hijinks along the way. For the latest on Jim Jones, Fabolous, Dave East, and Maino, stay logged into HNHH.

Yeat Teases New Young Thug Collab

Yeat continues to level up and get fans excited about what’s to come, with the help of none other than Young Thug. Recently, the California-born MC took to Instagram Live to preview some new music, including a brand new track with Thugger. For those unaware, the two previously linked up on the track “Outsidë” from Yeat’s 2022 album 2 Alivë. On this new teaser, both rappers float over eerie synth pads, sharp snares and hi-hats, booming bass, and a generally trippy atmosphere complete with additional synth melodies. Whether the track will drop sooner rather than later remains to be seen, but fans can’t wait for their reunion.

Unfortunately, any new Young Thug feature will come with its fair share of sadness and frustration. The YSL leader and 13 other defendants face hefty RICO charges that have dominated headlines and music news coverage for almost a year. However, the “Check” artist showed high spirits and determination in new courtroom footage, which at least has his fans touched and hopeful that things won’t be so bad. In addition, prominent industry figures like Metro Boomin updated audiences on his well-being and continue to show their support.

Young Thug & Yeat Might Have A New Song On The Way

Regardless of how his legal ordeal will conclude, Young Thug and Yeat is a combination of two rabid fanbases and eccentric styles. As such, it’s no wonder why a new track from them would elicit a lot of excitement and anticipation. After all, the “Monëy so big” MC has audiences going crazy at pretty much every live show he does. Most recently, he brought out Lil Uzi Vert and they had a blast on stage together, speaking to their artistic and personal chemistry.

Meanwhile, Yeat’s most recent album AftërLyfe is quite the lengthy but also energizing experience, not unlike one of Young Thug’s most recent albums, So Much Fun. There’s clearly a lot of chemistry here, although it’s unclear if they recorded or worked on this before Thug’s arrest. Despite that uncertainty, the context surrounding him could never deter fans from wanting to hear more from the Atlanta rap pioneer. For more news and updates on Young Thug and Yeat, stay posted on HNHH for the latest happenings.
