Noname Closes Out “Sundial” Album With “oblivion” Featuring Common & Ayoni

Over the next month, we’ll hear the final hip-hop and R&B albums of summer 2023 before transitioning into the industry heavy-hitters, who tend to share major projects in the last quarter of the year. This weekend continued the trend of artists both new and old showing out on singles and LPs. Those who stand out in the latter category are Trippie Redd (A Love Letter To You 5) and Noname (Sundial).

Noname didn’t come quietly with her latest project, bringing on collaborators like Atoni, $ilkMoney, billy woods, and Jimetta. She received no shortage of backlash for her decision to work with Jay Electronica on “balloons,” which also features Eryn Allen Kane. Elsewhere on Sundial, the 31-year-old threw shade at huge names like Jay-Z, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and Rihanna, earning her plenty of attention in the media. We’ve already reported on that drama, but today (August 13), we’re spotlighting Sundial‘s closing song, “oblivion” featuring Common and Ayoni.

Noname’s Sundial Takes Us to “oblivion”

“Sacrificial lambs, scam the church / The whole world berserk, the product is a perk,” the Chicago native begins over production by Berg. While Noname’s work here is impressive, it’s her collaborator’s verse as “oblivion” comes to an end that has us pressing the replay button consistently. “I’m a pallbearer to this fake ni**a era / Gamblin’ life so that I could get better,” the multivalent reflects in the latter half of his turn contribution. “My metaphysics ain’t for the Metaverse / It’s red alerts, I touch where the ghetto hurts.”

Before another weekend of HNHH release recommendations comes to a close, stream “oblivion” featuring Common and Ayoni above. If you’re feeling the collaborative track, make sure to add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. For those of you who haven’t yet streamed Sundial, you can do so at the link below.

iLoveMakonnen Blasts Metro Boomin, Post Malone, And Swae Lee For Ghosting Him Until NBA YoungBoy Collab

The career of iLoveMakonnen never took off after his 2014 hit “Tuesday”. The Drake-remixed track peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led to the rapper joining OVO Records. However, he has rarely made an impact on the charts since. His debut EP iLoveMakonnen peaked at #72 on the Billboard Album 200 and is just one of two non-single releases from the artist to chart. The other was the mixtape Drink More Water 6, which peaked at #35 in 2016. Outside of that, his single “I’ve Been Waiting” with Lil Peep featuring Fall Out Boy peaked at #62 in 2019. Meanwhile, his Steve Aoki feature “How Else” peaked at #47 in 2017.

However, the artist, who also saw a major decline in his following after coming out as gay in 2017, has gone on the offensive. He recently featured on the NBA YoungBoy track “Parasites” and has found his phone blowing up ever since. As a result, iLoveMakonnen has chosen to call out the people who ghosted him until now.

iLoveMakonnen Blasts Big Name Artists

“I’m HIM and I Been HERE! 🐲I ain’t do shit to yall! Y’all turned y’all back on me and held hands together, 💅unfollowed me and everything, now y’all see me with YB(the realist n***a on earth) and start hitting me up like it’s all good. 🤯Damn,That shit painful to see, especially after we came up together in Atlanta in 2014 🫣 💅 @postmalone @swaelee @metroboomin @nba_youngboy,” the rapper wrote on Instagram. Included in his post was screenshots of the tagged artists sliding into his DMs after the release of “Parasites”. In some cases, there are clearly visible years-old unread messages from iLoveMakonnen to these various artists.

Swae Lee hit back in the comments of the post. “Bro I was saying that to you goofy not for any reason besides spreading love I’m good in the game ,I knew you when you was throwing up on shrooms bro relax tf I saw you on the TL heard the new jam and privately told you it was hard don’t be that guy 👌🏽 that’s funny though bro fr. We can chop it up anytime you see me though I don’t do the public drama shit stay up,” Lee wrote across two separate comments posted seven hours apart.

JT Throws It Back To New Kali Uchis Collab In Sensual New Clip

JT, Kali Uchis, and El Alfa recently teamed up for a new song, “Muñekita,” and it’s exactly the reggaetón-heavy banger that such a collab suggests. What’s more is that its infectious rhythm and charismatic performances clearly inspire something in the City Girl’s hips- and so many others. Moreover, she recently uploaded a video on social media of her dancing along to one of the track’s slower “dembow” moments. In the clip, the Florida MC moves her hips slowly and sensually to the rhythm, leaving a lot of impressed fans in the comments, albeit some critics, too. “We can’t be listening to the same song she’s moving to,” one user jokingly wrote under the clip.

No matter what you think of those moves, you can’t deny that this is the kind of track that you don’t really care how you look when you dance to it. Furthermore, its different tempo switches and pitch-shifting plucks keep the energy on high all throughout. In addition, it’s just great for fans of hip-hop and Latin music alike to have another crossover banger in the repertoire. In one way or another, a lot of people who listened to this song discovered at least one new artist that will surely become part of their rotation.

JT Shaking Hips To “Muñekita”

While JT came through with a short verse, she still filled her contribution with a lot of bombast and confidence. In fact, she even drops some bars in Spanish, showing that she can hold her own in either context with ease. Also, there’s currently a lot of City Girls hype right now, since they’re back to releasing new music quite prolifically. They’ve even pursued their own careers in the meantime, with the 30-year-old releasing the single “No Bars.”

Meanwhile, with all that new music to consider, we’re sure that City Girls, Kali, and many more have plenty to soundtrack their dances with. It had actually been a long time since we got a crossover hit like this. Let’s just see how her dance moves evolve as she gets deeper and deeper into reggaetón. With that in mind, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on JT.

Blxst & Remble Join Forces For New “child of GOD” Collab Track

Blxst has impressed us already with his work in 2023 so far, from his appearance on Labo4oe’s “Tada” to his Just For Clarity 2 EP. The latter previously gave R&B lovers four new songs to revel in, including “Passionate” featuring Roddy Ricch, “Keep Calling” with Larry June, and the Mustard-produced “Ghetto Cinderella” alongside Terrace Martin. His most recent work came in the form of “West Coast Weekend” with YG and Tyga last month, but Blxst knows that’s not enough to keep his fans satisfied all through the summer.

On Tuesday (July 11), the vocalist surprised us with a new single called “child of GOD,” which finally finds him connecting with West Coast artist Remble. Blxst begins the song with a catchy chorus followed by a reflective verse. “Yeah, and I done seen it all above / The hate, the love, the fake handshakes, the genuine hugs / It is what it is, yeah, was what it was / I done really lost friends, that’s what success does,” he contemplates.

Blxst is Feeling Like a “child of GOD” on New Remble Collab

For his part, Remble brings his signature flow to the beat, praising the Lord and reminding listeners that things come easier when you surrender to the divine plan. While speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Blxst explained how their genre-bending single came to be. “Remble, for example, the dichotomy between him and me, it’s just like good and evil. People love to see those things meshed together. And even on ‘child of GOD,’ that was the constant theme in the song, seeing the good, no matter what evil you’re surrounded by,” he told the host.

Benny The Butcher Previews Lil Wayne Collab For New Album “Everybody Can’t Go”

Benny The Butcher are cooking up something good for the former’s upcoming August collaborative project with Hit-Boy, Everybody Can’t Go. Moreover, the Griselda affiliate recently took to Instagram Live to give fans a taste of what’s to come, and included a brief tease of a potential Weezy collab that might appear on the album. Furthermore, if released, this marks their first collaboration since 2020’s “Timeless,” which also featured Big Sean, on Benny’s Hit-Boy-produced album Burden of Proof. While it’s a (very) short snippet, just the Young Money legend’s voice got fans pumped.

“New Orleans to Buffalo,” Lil Wayne rapped on the song before Benny The Butcher cut it off quickly. “That’s all ya’ll need to hear, y’all heard what the man said,” the Buffalo lyricist remarked. “I said I need Lil Wayne, y’all heard what the man said. It’s on the way.” Of course, this is far from the only tease he offered so far as to his next full-length release. Still, for those unaware of his artistry and incredibly formidable pen, hopefully this serves as an entry point for those late to the party.

Benny The Butcher Teases Lil Wayne Feature

Hopefully this collab drops, as the Tana Talk 4 rhymer had bad luck with them in the past. “They hit me and was like, ‘Hov got an idea of a song he wanted you to do,” Benny The Butcher told Joe Budden of a potential Jay-Z team-up. “And then the day that I linked up with him, I’m just kicking it with him.We having drinks and s**t, and he didn’t mention the song. And as soon as he said that, somebody was like, ‘Yo, we need you,’ and they called him over. He left and it never got brought up again. This like, two, three years ago.”

Meanwhile, a Drake collaboration also fell through, but don’t let these unfortunate circumstances cloud your judgement. There’s a good chance that a writer of his caliber bodied both other MCs on the track. With that potential in mind, fans can only dream of what he achieved with Tunechi. On that note, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Benny The Butcher and Lil Wayne.

EARTHGANG Connect With Benji. & Spillage Village For Funky “Bobby Boucher” Single

The only appearances we’ve heard from EARTHGANG so far in 2023 are on Forest Claudette’s “Mess Around,” and more recently, “Sometimes…” with Snakehips and Daya. This New Music Friday (July 7), the dynamic duo took the lead on their first single of the year, titled “Bobby Boucher.” It finds them linking up with Benji., as well as their Spillage Village collective for a funky new release that seemingly pays homage to The Waterboy

“Playin’ roulette like Bobby Boucher/ Wa-wa-water on a Tuesday for all this D’Ussé,” the featured rapper rhymes on his closing verse. As Consequence notes, Adam Sandler played the alliterate character in the 1998 comedy classic. In the accompanying visual we see more nods to The Waterboy along with lyrics from WowGr8, “Growing up, might need to be the villain,” which refers to Boucher’s infamous decision to switch sides.

EARTHGANG is Back with “Bobby Boucher”

The single is reportedly due to appear on EARTHGANG’s next EP, EARTHGANG vs. The Algorithm: RIP Human Art. That project is due to debut on July 28, and will mark the rap group’s follow-up to 2022’s GHETTO GODS. On that, they connected with legends like JID, J. Cole, Musiq Soulchild, CeeLo Green, Nick Cannon, and Ari Lennox. The deluxe cut came later in the year, including more collaborations with Smino, Wiz Khalifa, and Curren$y. It’s unclear who we’ll hear on the upcoming EP, but hip-hop heads and certainly hungry for whatever the Atlanta-based duo has to offer.

Check out the new “Bobby Boucher” visual from EARTHGANG above, and if you’re feeling it, add the song to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Dave East & G-Eazy Are Carefree On Summer Banger “WDGAF”

By the middle of the month, Dave East plans to make his mark on the hip-hop industry with his Fortune Favors The Bold album. We’ve previously heard the New Yorker reflecting on the struggles of being wealthy in his “Rich Problems” single and giving us a sequel to a previous Nipsey Hussle and Bino Rideaux collaboration in the form of “Clarity Pt. 2.” On top of that, the legendary lyricist also had some fun remixing Lil Uzi Vert’s “Just Wanna Rock” alongside Nino Man.

This New Music Friday (June 30), East finally tapped in with G-Eazy for the first time, giving us a summer banger called “WDGAF.” As the title suggests, the track finds the artists chiefly trading braggadocious bars about their luxurious lifestyles, allowing them to take a carefree approach to things. “When they see me in the street, they be callin’ out my name / Back the f**k up, you keep foggin’ out my frame,” the “Perfect” hitmaker cautions his over-eager fans.

For his part, G-Eazy keeps his bars short and simple. “Karats, baguettes, I’m there to collect / We fly overseas, I Paris the jet,” he rhymes on the second verse. “She f**kin’ a rapper, her parents upset / She lie to her man, she still got me on her breath,” he continues before reuniting with East for one final chorus.

CHIKA & Freddie Gibbs Play “TRUTH OR DARE” On Hot New Single

While CHIKA is an undeniably impressive lyricist and storyteller, her talents have been previously overshadowed due to drama with other celebrities. Just last month, she sparked a viral debate online after lashing out at crying infants on the same flight as her during a Twitter rant. As fate would have it, the little ones are the grandchildren of T.I. and Tiny Harris, and anyone familiar with that family knows that they don’t tolerate disrespect.

In the weeks since then, CHIKA seems to have put the beef behind her and focused on her mental health, which she blamed for her outburst. As many creatives do, the 26-year-old has been channelling her feelings into art. On her second single of 2023, the quick-witted star connected with Freddie Gibbs to play a game of “TRUTH OR DARE.”

Prior to the infectious song, we heard CHIKA on “REQUIEM FOR A DREAM.” As for Gibbs, he’s faced his share of media controversy recently as well, markedly from his ex-girlfriend who claims that he got her pregnant and went ghost. His only other release so far in 2023 is a feature on BJ The Chicago Kid’s “Liquor Store In The Sky,” which has nearly 550K streams on Spotify.

If you haven’t already, check out CHIKA’s new “TRUTH OR DARE” single with Freddie Gibbs on YouTube above. Additionally, you can add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Ty Dolla Sign & Wiz Khalifa’s Latest Collab, “You,” Is Here: Stream

Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla Sign are two artists who have been holding the music industry down for over a decade now. Even with his recent pelvis injury, the Taylor Gang artist isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon, sharing his See Ya mixtape earlier this month to remind us he’s still got it. To follow that, Khalifa returned on New Music Friday (June 30) to drop off his latest single, “You,” in collaboration with Ty Dolla Sign who recently announced a tour of his own.

This obviously isn’t the first time we’ve heard the West Coast-based duo link up on the track. “Sitting Pretty,” “Hope,” and “Something New” are all past fan favourites, not to mention “Or Nah” with The Weeknd and DJ Mustard. On “You,” the two lyricists call out a lover who has a talent for making themselves the centre of attention at every opportunity. “Say it loud / Said I should just fade out / But everything ain’t all about you,” Ty Dolla’s voice croons on the chorus.

Wiz Khalifa Follows See Ya Mixtape with “You”

For his part, Khalifa tries to charm his presumably pissed-off partner with compliments like, “How your waist so small with an a** so fat?” after finding his belongings thrown out in the streets. In our opinion it doesn’t top their past efforts, but still, “You” is a fun addition to any R&B party playlists you’ll be putting together over the coming months.

Check out Wiz Khalifa’s “You” featuring Ty Dolla Sign on YouTube above, or add it to your Spotify/Apple Music playlist. The Weeknd Reveals Lil Baby Collab On “The Idol” Soundtrack

“The Idol” soundtrack might just be the best part about the HBO series, or at least that’s what people online suggest. Regardless of your thoughts on The Weeknd’s show, his latest announcement on what its original music will feature (or rather who) should get you even more amped. Moreover, Abel Tesfaye recently confirmed that he and Lil Baby will release their first official collaboration as part of “The Idol”‘s soundtrack. This follows other high-profile collabs with the likes of Playboi Carti, Madonna, JENNIE from BLACKPINK, and many more on the project. Still, you might be thinking, “Haven’t I heard these two together before?”

You would be right, as the two didn’t officially collab together on a track of their own. However, the Canadian superstar and the Atlanta trap leader both appeared on Kanye West’s track “Hurricane” from his 2021 album Donda. Not only was that a fan-favorite hit (that still doesn’t touch the original leak in this writer’s eyes), but a commercial smash as well. As such, expectations are high as to what the upcoming “False Idols” could be, and the potential for it to be the best song on the whole soundtrack for rap fans.

The Weeknd Teases Lil Baby Collab

In other “The Idol”-related news, The Weeknd recently broke down what he and the rest of the team intended with it. “We’re playing with genres with this show, we’re doing exactly what we wanted to do,” he remarked to Variety. “And none of this is a surprise. I’m excited for everyone to watch the rest of the show. It’s almost educational, that this is what comes with being incredibly famous. You’re surrounded by people who you’re not sure what their true intentions are, even if it seems like they’re good. You just never know.”

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old continues to respond to fan hate on Twitter concerning the show’s themes, writing, and acting. Unfortunately, a lot of that negative discussion has caused people to not be super invested in the quality tracks that have formed part of the soundtrack. Perhaps this new collab is what will bring it to the forefront of discussion. On that note, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on The Weeknd and Lil Baby.
