ASAP Rocky Albums Ranked: “Long.Live.ASAP” And More
A$AP Rocky boasts an incredible discography, from his 2011 debut Live.Love.ASAP to his ultra-experimental, Testing. These days, we’re anticipating the release of his next studio album. He dropped a few notable solo singles in the past few years including, “Babushka Boi,” “D.M.B,” “Shi*ttin’ Me,” and “Same Problems?” The latter appears to be the first single for his new album. Rocky performed the song for the first time at Amazon Music Live in December 2022. During an interview around this time, he said he finished the album while confirming ALL $MILES as the title. As we wait for the album’s rollout to begin, we have ranked the previous entries in his discography.
4. TESTING (2018)
Though it’s not A$AP Rocky’s best album, it’s easily his most creative — and divisive. “A$AP Forever” marked the first single from the album, though the remix featuring Kid Cudi and T.I. appeared on the official tracklist. “Praise The Lord (Da Shine)” is easily one of the album’s most successful songs, thanks to the hypnotizing flute melody and bouncy flows from Rocky and Skepta. Rocky took a risks across the album, experimenting with different sounds and textures, leading to both praise and criticism. With features ranging from a jail call from Kodak Black to a rare appearance from Frank Ocean, there are plenty of noteworthy moments all over the album.
3. LONG. LIVE.A$AP (2013)
This was A$AP Rocky’s debut album and for some, his best. This album captured various soundscapes that Rocky thrives in and truly had something for many types of rap fans. “1Train” brought together seven lyrical heavyweights at the time while “Wild for the Night” banked on the popularity of dubstep to create a quintessential party rap banger. Meanwhile, tracks like “LVL” and “Pain” found Rocky back in the hazy, psychedelic-esque rap he was known for. “Phoenix” found him focusing his technical proficiencies and lyricism through internal rhyme schemes. Rocky showcased his diversity across the album and his ability to effortlessly adapt to a range of production styles. Some of Rocky’s references are dated/show his immaturity but that doesn’t stop the project from being a time capsule of his career.
2. AT. LONG. LAST. A$AP (2015)
This album was released after the passing of Rocky’s friend and mentor, A$AP Yams. Across the album, Rocky showcased his maturity as he detailed navigating through fame and the loss of his close friend. However, it also further showcased Rocky’s unmatched ear for production highlighted through the arrangement and beat switches. “Back Home” stands as one of the best, though overlooked, songs in his discography. Rocky’s verse shows him flowing at an elite level and the Yasiin Bey feature that follows it, while short, still resonates with listeners.
1. Live.Love.A$AP (2011)
Though not an album, Live.Love.A$AP remains an integral part of A$AP Rocky’s discography. Deemed as “cloud rap,” his debut project introduced the world to his “trill” sound that merged East Coast sensibilities with Houston’s chopped-n-screwed sound. Production from his day 1 collaborator Clams Casino ensured the hazy psychedelic sound is cohesive across the project. However, it was A$AP Ty Beats that produced the break-out singles, Purple Swag” and “Peso.” Only in 2022 did the project find its way to streaming services. When this happened, the project was re-released with a song titled “Sandman” which was recorded around 2019. Much to the approval of listeners, it fits right into the tracklist.

ASAP Rocky’s 8 Best Songs Of All Time, Ranked
ASAP Rocky boasts a deep catalog of songs that capture the evolution of his sound. Beginning his career as a part of the A$AP Mob, the Harlem-based prospect first blew up after releasing “Peso” in summer 2011. Two years prior, Rocky described being a young man in Harlem involved in the streets and the fashion world. He began making songs along with his childhood friends with the goal of getting them out of their unsustainable lifestyle.
Approaching five years since his last studio release, fans are beginning to wonder when we’ll be hearing his next studio album. He released “Same Problems?” in January while rumors have been circulating that the track launches the rollout for Don’t Be Dumb — the rumored title of his next project. However, we haven’t heard anything from Rocky in the three months since. “Same Problems?” was one of his most introspective cuts to date, with euphoric synths wearing the influences of Kid Cudi. Before the anticipated rollout of his next album, we figured we’d take a look at the 7 best songs in ASAP Rocky’s catalog.
8. “Praise The Lord (Da Shine)” (2018)
Featuring British MC Skepta, “Praise The Lord” is ASAP Rocky’s most commercially successful song to date. The Skepta-assisted record serves as the third single off of Testing. It marked the third collaboration between the two artists. In an interview with Genius, Rocky discussed “smoking in the studio” with Skepta when he first heard the beat. Similar to tracks such as “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2,” Rocky is reflecting on his massive success. He states, “Locked and loaded, diamonds glowin’/ chart-climbing on ’em.” In addition, Rocky provides motivation to think outside of the box no matter their circumstances. He gives a shoutout to people with the “game plan” and “escape plans,” urging them to “create, explore, expand, [and] conquer.”
7. “Sundress” (2018)
“Sundress” represented a sharp turn in Rocky’s career, for the better. Produced by Kevin Parker (predominantly known as Tame Impala), the track came from left field compared to the grimy bangers that Rocky’s released in the past. A psychedelic blend of indie-rock and hip-hop, fans have been hoping he’ll release a full project that parallels this sound ever since. In fact, this might be the case with his new project. “Same Problems?” is far more melodic, making it relatively similar to “Sundress.”
6. “Peso” (2011)
“Peso” put ASAP Rocky on the map. The lead single for Live.Love.A$AP, the track transcended Rocky from the streets of Harlem and into the limelight. He told the New York Times, “New York didn’t respect me until ‘Peso.’” Even though he was very much focused on breaking out, he didn’t use this as an excuse to formulate a generic sound. Right off the bat, Rocky aspired to push the boundaries in hip-hop. “Peso” is a song that very much mirrors the environment that ASAP Rocky grew up In. He captured Harlem’s flamboyant essence with fashion-forward bars, along with an analysis of capturing the flamboyant essence of Harlem.
5. “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2” (2015)
“Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2” is a definitive banger of the past decade. Featuring paranoia-inducing synths and menacing bass, Nez & Rio come through with a simplistic approach to the overall production. However, Rocky rides the beat with high-energy and technical proficiency. Still, the brief runtime of the records left fans wishing for an extended version. An anthem through and through, Rocky portrays himself atop the mountain of MCs.
4. “r – Cali” (2013)
Created for Grand Theft Auto V, “r – Cali” provided ASAP Rocky with his first opportunity to create a song specifically for a video game. Anyone who knows Grand Theft Auto will know that the soundtracks are a hallmark aspect of the franchise. “r – Cali” would become one of the most well-known songs in GTAV, perfectly fitting the fictional Los Santos setting.
3. “Holy Ghost” (2015)
One of ASAP Rocky’s more underrated songs, “Holy Ghost” is the intro of AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP. In the song, Rocky details his hesitancy towards organized religion while also reflecting on his own spirituality. At the same time, he’s pleading for his corrupted soul to be saved. It’s one of his more narratively damning songs to date. The melancholy guitar strings add a unique element to “Holy Ghost,” thanks to DJ Khalil and Danger Mouse’s production.
2. “F**kin’ Problems” (2012)
“F**kin’ Problems” is an iconic track in Rocky’s catalog. Featuring Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and 2 Chainz, the headlining heavy hitters in rap came together for a generational anthem. ASAP Rocky cedes much of the song to his contemporaries, solely delivering one verse on the front end. However, his ability to stand his ground with Drake and Kendrick solidified him as one of the most talented MCs out of his generation.
1. “Canal St.” (2015)
“Canal St.” contains one of the best beats that ASAP Rocky has ever flowed on, thanks to the sample of Bones’ “Dirt.” Canal Street is a famous crosstown street in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Best-known for its expression of the arts and spots such as Chinatown, Rocky claims to have copped two of his gold chains from Canal Street. In fact, he’s referenced the street multiple times in other songs. Rocky’s relationship with Canal Street likely changed significantly throughout his life. Once a place where he couldn’t afford anything, he now walks down the street as the wealthiest person there. He references this on the track, stating, “I went from roaches on my bump to red brooches on the cuff of my tux.”

Metro Boomin, A$AP Rocky Pose With “Free Young Thug” Shirts
Young Thug may not have freedom right now, but he has friends on the outside supporting him. The rapper was arrested last May. He was been accused of trying to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. He was also accused of participating in criminal street gang activity. Additionally, Young Thug faced additional charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of prohibited weapons, among others. These charges were part of a larger 56-count grand jury indictment which names 28 people involved with the YSL “criminal street gang,” including fellow rapper Gunna. As many know, Gunna has been freed, but Young Thug’s case is still awaiting trial.
Young Thug is a rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Atlanta. He first gained recognition in 2013 with his mixtape 1017 Thug and has since released numerous projects, including his debut studio album So Much Fun in 2019. Young Thug’s music is popular in large part due to his singular style, which features both singing and rapping in a high-pitched, melodic flow. He has collaborated with a range of artists across various genres, including Future, Travis Scott, and Camila Cabello.
Young Thug’s Friends Call For His Release
In an Instagram post on Metro Boomin’s account, several of Young Thug’s friends posed with a “Free Young Thug” shirt. Don Toliver, Metro Boomin, and A$AP Rocky are all included in the picture. The caption reads, “Free Jeff till Jeff free!!” Jeff is Young Thug’s government name. Whether or not “Jeff” will be free remains to be seen. It isn’t all bad, though.
Although the rapper originally could have faced up to 65 counts, he was only charged with 8. The charges include conspiracy to violate the RICO act, participation in criminal street gang activity, and possession of both marijuana and codeine with intent to distribute. Those certainly aren’t light charges. Young Thug was briefly allowed freedom recently to attend his sister’s funeral. Even if the rapper does win in court, the result is likely still somewhat far off. Jury selection is still underway and has been hit with several roadblocks. Most recently, a potential juror was jailed for filming the court room. Here’s hoping Young Thug can come out on top once the trial begins.
Tyler The Creator Goes On A Solo(?) Date In His ‘Wharf Talk’ Video With ASAP Rocky
On Tyler The Creator’s deluxe edition of Call Me If You Get Lost, subtitled The Estate Sale, the former demon child enters what Pitchfork is calling his “Munch era,” embracing the freedom and sincerity of falling in love on previously unreleased tracks like “Dogtooth” and “Sorry Not Sorry.” Honestly, it’s a good look on him, cementing his evolution from a talented but obnoxious enfant terrible to a dapper, forthright artiste.
His latest video from the release, “Wharf Talk,” keeps the good vibes flowing. On this one, Tyler’s in full loverboy mode, singing plaintively about how much he wants to spend time with this special lady over what sounds very much like some classic Neptunes production. When Tyler’s good friend ASAP Rocky shows up for a good, old-fashioned rap bridge — man, remember those? — he too sounds transformed by the affections of a good woman. It’s genuinely endearing and inspirational to see our boys really grow up. They’ve come a long way.
The video’s pretty clever, too, messing with the viewer’s perception as Tyler goes on a series of what appear to be solo dates: a picnic in the park, a day trip to the beach, and more. However, a bike ride through nature throws off this reading when one of the bikes propels itself — is Tyler dating The Invisible Woman, or what? (There’s some nifty commentary about how this makes his “keeping it low-key” approach to his relationship visual, but it’s also just fun to see him toasting what appears to be nobody.)
You can watch the “Wharf Talk” video above and check out Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale here.
