The ongoing divorce battle between Teyana Taylor and her estranged husband, Iman Shumpert, has taken a turn as Taylor alleges Shumpert is resorting to underhanded tactics. Amid their legal dispute, Taylor has accused Shumpert of cutting off utilities and neglecting financial responsibilities related to their marital home and their children.

Last year, Taylor filed for divorce from Shumpert after seven years of marriage, during which they welcomed two children together. However, their separation has been marred by a series of disputes over various aspects of their shared life, including finances and the division of assets.

According to TMZ, Taylor’s attorney recently filed court documents detailing Shumpert’s alleged actions. Taylor claims that Shumpert, who moved out of their Georgia home in October, has been gradually shutting down utilities at the residence where she currently resides with their children. The documents state that Shumpert’s brother, who manages his affairs, informed Taylor of Shumpert’s intentions to cut off power to the home.

Taylor further alleges that Shumpert has failed to contribute financially toward their children’s expenses, including child support, food, and clothing costs. Despite the court’s standing order for both parties to maintain the status quo on home and financial matters during the divorce proceedings, Taylor asserts that Shumpert has not upheld his responsibilities.

Taylor also claims that Shumpert left her responsible for $200,000 worth of home renovations that he initiated three years ago. Despite promises of reimbursement, Taylor states that Shumpert has not fulfilled his financial obligations regarding the renovations, citing purported financial constraints tied to investments.

In response to Shumpert’s alleged actions, Taylor’s attorney is seeking legal recourse. They are urging the court to hold Shumpert in contempt for violating the standing order and to compel him to provide monthly child support payments.

Drake has appeared unbothered by the diss leveled at him by Megan Thee Stallion on her recent track, “Hiss”. Drizzy was seen posting on Instagram, posing in an oversized trenchcoat with a cocktail. “I spend my mornings that start at 2pm preoccupied trying to check off the lists I prepare every night. If you’re looking for a good morning text @ 11am, I am not your guy,” the rapper added as a caption. However, could this be a subtle hint at a response to come? Perhaps Drake is simply saying that he’s not one to rush into a response.

Regardless, fans are eager to see how Drake will respond to the diss. “People are asking how Nicki is going to respond but I’m more curious about how BBL, etched abs, accent switching, Bad bitch Drake is going to respond,” one fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “If Drake “fires back” he’s simply confirming the BBL allegations,” argued another. But some fans felt that they would have to wait. “Drake is very predictable with his disses he’s gonna wait until later this year to release a mid 20 track album just so he can sneak diss and throw subs in track 2,” theorized one person. As alluded to, Megan’s bars on Drake accused him of having a BBL and surgically enhanced abs despite publicly railing against such things.

Drake Posts Up With Lil Yachty

Meanwhile, Drake and Lil Yachty posted up for a film camera throwback photoshoot. “Everyone asks ‘is it better to be feared or loved’ but no one tells you what happens when you’re both of them,” Drake added as a caption. It’s unclear if this was just a social call or if the pair have more projects on the way. Yachty was heavily involved in Drizzy’s 2023 album, For All The Dogs. He featured on “Another Late Night” and is credited as a producer on another five tracks.

Stephen A. Smith Wants To Be In “GTA 6”

Stephen A. Smith has co-signed a fan request to appear in GTA 6. After a fan said that the game needed a radio station featuring Smith, the ESPN personality replied, saying “I do love me some Vice City” and tagging GTA developer Rockstar Games. Smith’s bombastic style would be perfect for the spoken interstitials between the tracks of licensed music played on the in-game radio stations. Hell, maybe Rockstar could add a side quest where you have to help the in-game Smith deal with his rival, the in-game version of Skip Bayless.

GTA 6 is due to be released next year. Rockstar finally teased the game at the end of 2023. Fittingly for Smith’s musing, the game is due to return to Vice City, the in-universe version of Miami. However, fans are still waiting for more substantial news about the game following Rockstar’s initial vibes-based trailer. What is known currently is that GTA 5‘s multi-protagonist mechanic is returning and that one of the playable characters will be a woman for the first time in the history of the series.

Elon Musk Says He Doesn’t Play GTA

However, one person who won’t be playing GTA 6, Stephen A. Smith feature or not, is Elon Musk. As the trailer for GTA 6 dropped, Musk revealed that it’s not a game series that he plays. “Tried, but didn’t like doing crime. GTA5 required shooting police officers in the opening scene. Just couldn’t do it,” Musk tweeted in reply to another user saying they didn’t play the games. The response was widely mocked on the platform, with many people saying that Elon Musk was “a Drake type”.

However, Musk’s indifference to the series didn’t stop his beloved X from debasing themselves at the feet of the game’s developer, Rockstar. Rockstar was forced to release their trailer a day earlier due to an internal leak. However, X CEO Linda Yaccarino quickly made a post suggesting that Rockstar should directly upload the trailer to X to increase visibility. Rockstar would later do this, albeit with a boilerplate caption added.

Moreover, the latest person to get roped into the battle by these fanbases and viewers is Vogue director Sergio Kletnoy, who books celebrities for the magazine and is a main point of contact for them. As such, many folks questioned his comments during Minaj’s Instagram livestream on Friday (January 26), including a series of foot emojis. “Not ‘fragment foot’ lol not even a whole foot?” Kletnoy wrote during the session, referencing her “bullet fragment foot b***h” comment against the Houston rapper.

However, Kletnoy issued an apology on Saturday the 27th for Megan Thee Stallion and the fanbase following what seemed like explicit support for Nicki Minaj. “I am a huge music lover and support many artists (especially female artists),” he wrote on his Instagram Story. “Everyone who knows me knows I love Nicki, Megan and so many other musicians. I joined a livestream from one of my fave artists and was excited to hear there’s a new song from her. I made comments that unfortunately were taken the wrong way, I never meant to mock or insult anyone and have always been a fan of both women. My apologies if my comments offended or hurt anyone. Still, some fans called out how comments like Sergio Kletnoy’s are harmful because of his editorial role in Vogue. If these biases play a part, assuming he did initially mean to mock Megan Thee Stallion, then it could shut out or discourage her from participation in the publication. Regardless, given the vague nature of Kletnoy’s remarks, perhaps he really didn’t intend for his comments to shade Meg. It is crazy to think that about a year and some change ago Lil Uzi Vert shocked the world with “Just Wanna Rock.” It somewhat revived the Jersey club sound with its viral accompanying dance. The song could turn any boring party into a rager. Producing genius MCVertt was the main man behind it all. You know when that “Project, Project, X, X, X” producer tag comes in, it is about to go down. He is behind what is bound to be another hit song inspired by that sound called “Trick,” by 41 & Kyle Richh.

The latter names hail from Brooklyn, New York, and they specialize in drill as well as some Jersey club. 41 is a rap trio that is made up of Kyle, as well as TaTa, and Jenn Carter. “Trick” is an exclusive Kyle Richh track, but the fact that 41 is included, has us feeling like this could be a future album single. That is all speculation, but keep that in the back of your mind.

Nicki Minaj Announces New Single, “Bigfoot”

Nicki Minaj has announced the release of a new single, “Bigfoot”. The track will drop at 3 PM PST on January 28, according to a tweet from Minaj herself. Furthermore, Minaj announced the track with the inclusion of an image of Megan Thee Stallion looking unimpressed. For many fans, this signaled that the track could be a direct musical response to Megan’s recently released “Hiss”.

The beef between the two rappers absolutely exploded this week after Megan’s new track took shots at Nicki. Specifically, Megan took aim at the various connections to sex offenders that Minaj has in her life. The line “Megan’s Law” in “Hiss” refers to the sex offender registry law that Minaj’s husband fell afoul of. Kenneth Petty, who was a childhood friend of Minaj’s, served four years in prison for the attempted rape of a minor. Minaj’s response has mostly been limited to Twitter until the surprise track announcement.

Fans Discuss Problematic Nature Of Nicki Minaj Alter Ego

However, the beef has proven divisive among rap fans. While some believe that Megan went too far, others are starting to see a disturbing trend for Minaj. The beef led some fans to take a closer look at “Roman Zolanski”, the alter ego that Minaj occasionally drops verses as. However, many fans are now only learning for the first time that Minaj has never shied from Roman’s name being a play on that of Roman Polanski. Polanski is an Oscar-winning director who is perhaps best known for pleading guilty to statutory rape of a minor. The girl was 13 at the time of the rape and had also been drugged by Polanski.

Nicki has already dipped into the Roman well at least once during this beef with Megan. “Megan’s law. For a free beat you could hit #MeganRAW,” Minaj tweeted late Friday night. Furthermore, the tweet was signed “Roman”. While the tweet could be taken several ways, one popular theory is that it refers to rumors about Megan’s ex, Pardison Fontaine. As noted on Megan’s late 2023 track “Cobra”, she allegedly walked in on her ex having unprotected sex with another woman in her bed.

The 31-year-old is back to deliver his fifth Lyrics to GO, Vol. 5. It is a series that began nearly four years ago to the day. Like almost all Kota projects, the tracklist is trim, leaving little to no room for error. But, he is up to the challenge as always and he succeeds with flying colors.

It just comes so easily for Kota. His flows never feel forced and it is like the beats have to form to his flows rather than him having to conform to the production. Hit-Boy and Statik Selektah headline the main acts, while Dakun, Exile, and Sango fill in the cracks beautifully. This is a top-tier release of 2024 so far and it has a great chance of being on end-of-the-year lists.
