Who Is Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Cobra’ About?

Megan Thee Stallion politely requested that her Hotties “stop trying” to guess what her next single, “Cobra,” would sound like because “y’all are not gonna be able to guess.” Within the same post, Meg also shared, “I spilled my guts on this song, I helped produce this song, I’m just so proud of it.” When “Cobra” arrived this morning, November 3, Hotties no longer had to guess about the song’s sonic contents, but now, they’ve shifted into hypothesizing who “Cobra” is about.

In the accompanying “Cobra” video, Megan Thee Stallion emerges from inside of a cobra after saying, “Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.” Once she’s standing on her own two feet, she shreds everyone who has done her wrong. If you’ve been paying attention over the last three-ish years, that’s a lengthy list.

Who Is “Cobra” About?

Disclaimer: We don’t know. We can’t know unless Megan Thee Stallion explicitly says whom “Cobra” is based upon. She’s endured an overwhelming amount of people projecting opinions onto her, especially after Tory Lanez was alleged to have shot her in her feet in July 2020.

That said, it would appear that the majority of “Cobra” finds Meg venting about how she navigated Lanez’s abuse toward her — evidenced by brave and vulnerable bars like “Breakin’ down, and I had the whole world watchin’ / But the worst part is really who watched me / Every night I cried, I almost died / And nobody close tried to stop it” or “Yes, I’m very depressed / How can somebody so blessed wanna slit they wrist?”

For reference, Meg testified during Lanez’s trial, in part, “I can’t even be happy. I can’t hold conversations with people for a long time. I don’t feel like I want to be on this earth. I wish he would have just shot and killed me, if I knew I would have to go through this torture” (as NPR relayed last December).

Lanez was found guilty on three felony counts (assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence) and is serving a 10-year prison sentence.

Additionally, there’s this: “Damn, I got problems / Never thought a b*tch like me would ever hit rock bottom / Man, I miss my parents, way too anxious, always cancel my plans / Pulled up, caught him cheatin’, gettin’ his d*ck sucked in the same spot I’m sleepin’.” People were quick to assume that those bars were reserved for her ex, Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine.

Megan Thee Stallion is excited to be independently releasing “Cobra” (and her presumed forthcoming album — her first since August 2022’s Traumazine) after she and her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, “mutually reached a confidential settlement to resolve their legal differences” (as reported by Billboard). LL Cool J And The Roots Teamed Up To Create An Anthem For The Inaugural In-Season Tournament

The NBA is going all-out for the newest addition to its calendar. For years, it’s been reported that Adam Silver wanted the league to adopt some sort of additional competition that took place during the regular season, and earlier this year, the announcement came that the NBA would institute the inaugural In-Season Tournament during the 2023-24 campaign.

We’ve seen some of the ways that the league wants to hype up the event already. There will be dedicated nights of the week over the next month — Tuesdays (minus Election Day) and Fridays — that will serve as tournament nights. There will be special courts and jerseys for those games, and there’s a terrific ad for the whole thing that seems ripped from the Oceans series. Once the four semifinalists are determined, those teams will head to Las Vegas for the semifinals and final.

And on Friday morning, the league unveiled the latest way it’s looking to add a little bit of excitement to the festivities. LL Cool J and The Roots teamed up to combine the song “Mama Said Knock You Out” with the melody of “Here I Come” to create the official anthem for the event.

“I’ve been a fan of the NBA ever since I can remember, and it’s a real honor to have my record serving as the anthem for this monumental moment,” LL Cool J said in a statement. “I’m excited to see the energy of the song translate to the play on the court during the NBA In-Season Tournament.”

The first slate of In-Season Tournament games begins on Friday, Nov. 3.

Earl Sweatshirt Claims Tyler, The Creator Is Responsible For Drake Lean Meme

Earl Sweatshirt and his frequent collaborator, the legendary producer The Alchemist, recently sat down for an episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk series. In it, they discussed the best (and worst) rap trends, animals, candies, and a whole lot more. However, when asked what the best meme of all time is, the Odd Future affiliate actually got to chronicle some meme history with a very interesting but fitting revelation. If you weren’t around back in the day, Drake memes used to take a very different and overly macho shape, unfairly clowning him for being soft. But Earl claimed that Tyler, The Creator created one of the first memes to blow up around the OVO star that weren’t within this flawed framework.

“Tyler, The Creator started the Drake meme,” Earl Sweatshirt maintained on the program. “I was there. We seen the picture. I think Tyler cut it out, he put it on something, he put it up. By the morning, it was, like, [viral].” Of course, given that the IGOR creative is one of the funniest rappers to ever touch a mic, it’s no surprise that he had a hand in one of the Internet’s favorite comedy pastimes.

Earl Sweatshirt Teaches Meme History About Drake & Tyler, The Creator On GOAT Talk

Furthermore, we wonder if Drake had any sort of significant reaction to this revelation. After all, he and Tyler, The Creator have a pretty interesting relationship, one that’s mostly behind the scenes but has popped out every once in a while. Most infamously, Tyler brought Drizzy out as a special guest at his Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in 2019, and fans appeared to boo him offstage because they were expecting Frank Ocean. The Hawthorne native mentioned the large payout he had for Drake on “LUMBERJACK,” and they have plenty of overlap as far as their inner circles and industry associates these days.

In addition, the 6 God posted himself wearing an IGOR chain on his IG Story last year, so clearly there’s still some love there. Many fans might not think there’s much reason for them to associate, since they are in such different lanes. But such is the unitary and community-building power of memes. For those who are not aware, Fetty is in the midst of a six-year prison sentence that came down back in May of this year. It became an extremely messy and lengthy series of events. After about two years of court appearances and four years of investigations, Fetty was found guilty of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute controlled substances.

To be specific more than 100 kilograms of narcotics, including cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and crack cocaine. However, throughout all of it, the rapper and crooner has been pushing out some singles and feature placements. He has not put out a full album since his 2021 record, The Butterfly Effect. Kanye West Album With Ty Dolla Sign Remains In Limbo After Promotional IG Post Vanishes

There’s a new update in the Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign album rollout saga, and unfortunately for fans of the pair, it doesn’t seem positive. After generating hype surrounding their joint project with plans of a live performance in Italy and a star-studded listening party, both events have been suddenly cancelled or postponed. There’s been some speculation that the pair is simply pushing their surprise release back to allow other artists to shine at this time. Of course, it’s worth noting that we’ve seen Ye scrap his work in the past without a second thought, so we can’t rule that possibility out either.

On Friday (November 3), eyebrows began to raise as Ty Dolla’s promotional post for his joint LP with the father of four is no longer on his Instagram. “So this truly turned out to be like ‘Yandhi,’” one disappointed Twitter user wrote after hearing the news. “This was the only outcome,” another person wrote, predicting that the album was sure to fail from the start.

Hip-Hop Heads Confused by Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign’s Album Rollout

Until we have confirmation of beef from either Ye or Ty Dolla directly, it’s hard to say what’s happening behind the scenes. The Yeezy founder’s past few rollouts have been notably chaotic. As a result, fans don’t seem to be fighting off too much shock regarding all the hitches. We haven’t heard a new verse from Ye since he appeared with Lil Durk on Cardi B’s 2022 single, “Hot S**t,” which dropped months after he dissed Pete Davidson with The Game on “Eazy.”

Seeing as J Prince dubbed Kanye West’s unreleased album as “hot” after hearing it during their link-up in Saudi Arabia, we at least know the 46-year-old has some sort of project ready to go. What remains unclear, however, is exactly when (or even if) it will ever make it onto DSPs. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Adam22 & Lena The Plug Pressed For Threesome By Sidney Starr: Watch

On the latest episode of No Jumper, Love & Hip Hop: New York cast member Sidney Starr expressed interest in getting with Adam22 and Lena the Plug. “I think you should try a girl whose name kind of rhymes with kidney. And her last name rhymes with the bar,” Starr said. Adam22, usually cool as can be, was uncharacteristically flustered by the forwardness of his guest. “I’m going to have to speak to my management about that. My whole team…My wife, I don’t know exactly how she’s going to feel about it,” Adam explained. Starr went on to express surprise herself, stating that she didn’t know he was married. However she countered by saying “I’ve been with a couple before.”

Furthermore, Starr seemed even more down after being shown a picture of Lena the Plug. “Oh she’s hot. I would definitely join you guys in a bed,” Starr declared. She proceeded to get graphic after Adam asked what she would do with the the couple. “I would want her to watch you f-ck me and have her eat your a–,” Starr explained. Adam didn’t give too much away in his reaction but safe to say, he wasn’t uninterested.

Adam22 Continues To Promote Lena The Plug’s Upcoming Group Scene

Meanwhile, Adam has been diligently promoting an upcoming video set to be released on Lena’s platforms. Initially, the scene was promoted by recreating the infamous Brazzers promotional image of five Black men standing behind a single petite white woman. This led to the revelation that one of the men would be involved is social media personality Crip Mac.

However, Adam took things a step further, promoting the scene on TikTok using the viral Nathan Fielder “I think this will be good for economy and our society” sound clip. Additionally, this promotional tactic saw Adam leaning hard into the “cuck” critiques that he has been faced with every since he and Lena went public. Honestly, bravo to Adam for monopolizing the hatred of ignorant social media users who don’t appear to know how sex work works. It’s unclear when the scene is coming out. But both Adam and Lena have promised its going to be one of their best shoots yet.

J. Cole On Kendrick Lamar Collab Album: “We Ain’t Ever Got The Chance”

During J. Cole’s appearance on Lil Yachty and Mitch’s A Safe Place podcast, they talked about a lot of stuff. They discussed Cole’s first number one hit and how he “almost” regrets it, his features policy, and plenty of other compelling and interesting topics. It’s great to hear the North Carolina MC and the Atlanta artist chop it up about life and their careers, and they got to discuss one of 2010s hip-hop’s most persistent requests. When addressing his rumored collab album with Kendrick Lamar, the Dreamville boss gave some very interesting and revealing reasons as to why it hasn’t happened… and probably won’t, unfortunately.

“In a nutshell, [Kendrick Lamar] had pulled up on me at No I.D.’s spot,” J. Cole began. “We was already building this relationship, and I had these beats at the time and I was playing them for him. Was that our first time linking? ‘HiiiPoWeR,’ one of them beats? There’s a few beats, a gang of beats that I did, I gave him. Some of them like, maybe had a hook on them, a verse- this, that, and the third.

“So he took them and, you know, in that moment, we talked about, ‘Yo, bro, we should do a project,’” J. Cole continued. “At that time he’s not on like that, but I’m f***in’ with him. At one point, it was a real thing. But bro, time and life, we ain’t ever got the chance to go in and do it correctly, because that would take time. For us to do something that’s full of our potential, that meets our real potential, you’re gonna need time. At least a year.

“When you got two successful artists with lives and families, that’s hard to do,” he concluded. “We put it to bed years ago. But at one point in time, it was a real conversation, for sure. It’s not like it’s a ton of songs. It’s not like it’s some album sitting on the shelf somewhere.” For more news and the latest updates on J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, come back to HNHH.

J Cole Responds To Joe Budden Saying He Washed Drake On “First Person Shooter”

J Cole recently found himself on Drake’s new album For All The Dogs. They were on the track “First Person Shooter” together and it proved to be a very successful track. In fact, it reached number one on the Billboard charts. However, the song got some criticism from Joe Budden, who said Drake was too passive on the track. Lil Yachty disagreed and brought up the criticism to Cole on his podcast, A Safe Place. As Cole explains, the artists themselves can set narratives and not journalists. Although, Cole does believe Budden’s feud with Drake had something to do with it.

“The specific incident you’re talking about, that’s a whole different conversation,” Cole said. “But, in general, do I think the online media is a problem or do I think they’re a part of the problem? No, I don’t actually. I think music is the leader. The artists lead the conversation. [Journalists] can spin it a certain way, but ultimately we lead the conversation.” It was an interesting comment that led to more analysis. In Cole’s eyes, Drake was thinking more about the song than anything else.

J Cole Speaks

“In that moment, [Drake] chose the song over the competition and what they  gonna say,” Cole explained. “And that takes a level of egolessness that’s… you’re putting your ego to the side and like, ‘Yo, I wanna make the best song.’ Drake ain’t looking at it like, ‘I’ma take Cole’s f*cking’ head off at some point.’ Nah.” So there you have it, there is a reason why Cole may have gone harder than Drake on his song. That said, there is no doubt that the fans ended up winning with this collaboration.

Let us know what you thought of “First Person Shooter,” in the comments section below. Was Joe Budden right to say that Drake got washed? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists.

Sam Bankman-Fried Found Guilty In FTX Fraud Case

Sam Bankman-Fried has been found guilty on seven charges primarily relating to fraud. Additionally the charges stem from his role in the collapse of his cryptocurrency exchange, FTX. The charges Bankman-Fried faced could amount to 110 years in prison. However, experts believe that the 31-year-old will receive well below the maximum sentence when he is sentenced in March. The main crux of the prosecution’s argument was that Bankman-Fried had used his hedge fund, Alameda Research, to siphon funds away from FTX, which he founded two years later. This money came from customers who used the exchange. Furthermore, Bankman-Fried is believed to have defrauded his customers for more than $10 billion.

Jurors rejected testimony from Bankman-Fried that he never intended to defraud the customers of his cryptocurrency monolith. However, Bankman-Fried’s rang hollow. The prosecution presented countless tales of structural mismanagement, a lack of proper accounting, and simply bizarre details. Salacious headlines have dominated the case since the exchange collapsed last year. Of particular note were the reports that Bankman-Fried lived alongside nine other people as part of a polycule, a term to describe the structure of a polyamorous relationship. All nine of them reportedly worked alongside Bankman-Fried at FTX.

Prosecutors Declare Justice Served, Bankman-Fried Vows To Fight

US Attorney Damian Williams told reporters that Bankman-Fried had “perpetrated one of the biggest financial frauds in American history, a multibillion dollar scheme designed to make him the king of crypto. But here’s the thing: The cryptocurrency industry might be new. The players like Sam Bankman-Fried might be new. This kind of fraud, this kind of corruption is as old as time and we have no patience for it,” he said.

In closing statements, Bankman-Fried’s attorneys argued that the prosecution was trying to “turn Sam into some sort of villain, some sort of monster.” Furthermore, after the verdict, his team vowed that the fight wasn’t over. “We respect the jury’s decision. But we are very disappointed with the result. Mr. Bankman Fried maintains his innocence and will continue to vigorously fight the charges against him,” attorney Mark Cohen told reporters outside the courthouse.
