Filmmaker Hit With A Cease-And-Desist By AEG Over Unauthorized Frank Ocean’s Coachella Performance Footage

Coachella 2023 was one for the history books. The beloved music festival in the desert had several high points, including Blackpink and Bad Bunny’s record-setting performances. However, the fallout from Frank Ocean’s seemingly disappointing return to the event is far from over.

Although the “Novacane” singer took the stage for the first weekend, he dropped out of his headlining performance set for the second weekend, which reportedly cost the organizers millions in profits. While Ocean admitted that his solo set was “chaotic” because it had been years since he graced the stage and the live stream was pulled at the last minute, those attending the festival took out their phones to record the performance on social media.

Despite not attending Coachella, according to Variety, Los Angeles-based filmmaker Brian Kinnes was hit with a cease-and-desist by AEG, a festival partner, over unauthorized footage from Ocean’s set. “I’m just combining what’s already publicly available,” Kinnes told the outlet.

Supposedly, Kinnes sourced around 450 Ocean videos posted online over 80 hours. Then Kinnes allegedly sent the best audio clips to a sound engineer to create the final audio file.

“Essentially, [AEG’s] claims are pretty frivolous and almost completely baseless,” said Kinnes as he states, “[I] did not plan on making a single penny” from the video.

AEG disagrees. Although the performance was supposed to be streamed live on YouTube for free, it was not. If it was, the exclusive rights to the footage from Coachella belong to AEG. AEG’s notice demanded that Kinnes “remove and destroy all audio and video content of musical performances from the Festival…failure to do would lead to further legal action.” Kinnes’ footage has since been removed.

However, this isn’t the first time Kinnes has pulled videos across social media of festival footage. In 2017, he created a video of Ocean’s 2014 FYF Fest performance, which was also removed from the internet. Kinnes defends his creations, citing legendary hip-hop group Beastie Boys’ fan-shot 2006 concert film Awesome; I F*ckin’ Shot That!

In the accompanying video, we see Palmer standing in a cheetah-print jumpsuit, back turned to her man as she casually shakes her booty for him. “Y’all see this work?” he proudly asked as his partner laughed and continued munching on a snack.

The footage came after the lovers made their red carpet debut with Leo at the screening of the Disney alum’s upcoming project. KP celebrated with a commemorative photo dump of her own on Sunday, expressing plenty of gratitude for everyone involved in the caption. “So happy that my LO was able to attend, being with him is all that’s ever on my mind. He is also my BBL doctor because honey this body???! Don’t talk to me. I’m different now! I’s a woman hahahahahaha,” she also joked in the post. Latto Twerks Up A Storm During Something In The Water Festival Performance

Following two weekends’ worth of standout performances at Coachella, Latto is once again showing her skills and talent as a rapper and performer on the festival circuit. Most recently, she visited Virginia Beach to perform at Pharrell’s Something In The Water festival. During her set, she put her twerking skills on full display, accentuated by live instrumentation and a killer drummer. Along the way, she played some of her biggest hits and even brought a fan onstage to get a lap dance for her remix of YFN Lucci’s “Wet.” All in all, it’s been a great run of shows for the 777 MC.

However, that’s not all that Latto brought to the table recently as far as material. She just released a new single “Put It On Da Floor” that made headlines for her mention of Coi Leray, which she responded to negatively. However, since then, the two made amends and cleared up any assumptions of beef. In fact, things got so discussed online that a fake video of them fighting went viral after their reconciliation. Furthermore, fans of both artists are hoping that this can manifest into a collab between the two.

In addition, a lot of people thought that she photoshopped a picture of the crowd at her Coachella set to make it look bigger. After the 24-year-old shut down those claims, people quickly realized that it was just haters looking to hate. Unfortunately, the Ohio-born and Georgia-raised MC has to deal with that a lot. For example, people also criticized her body implants after a picture of her mid-twerk made rounds on Twitter. As always, she brushed it off with ease with a simple and carefree explanation: “Just a BBL mid-clap.”

Meanwhile, she recently opened up on her thoughts on plastic surgery with her sister Brooklyn Nikole on her Apple Music 777 Radio show. “I’m telling you… all the young girls listening, all the women listening right now,” the RCA Records signee began. “I’m telling you from someone who’s been there, done it, find peace within your natural state. Because you’re going to find a flaw and another flaw and another flaw and another flaw. Willie Nelson is a country music icon. Born in 1933, Nelson’s music career began with a failed record in 1956 while he was working as a radio announcer. However, just two years later, he would get a job as a club singer in Houston. By 1961, Nelson was making a name for himself with music that went against the traditional sound of his new home, Nashville. Nashville would become the place that Nelson was best associated with as his stardom grew.

Nelson has since gone on to record 99 albums, 73 of them solo. His most recent album, I Don’t Know A Thing About Love, was released in March 2023. He has also appeared in over 30 films, as well as writing and co-authoring numerous books. His last film role was in the 2018 musical film, Paradox. Willie Nelson also loves weed and thus, is one of the most vocal advocates for marijuana legalization. At the time of writing, 31 US states have either decriminalized or legalized weed. Sadly, this does not include Nelson’s home state of Texas.

Stars Show Out For Willie Nelson’s 90th

To celebrate Willie Nelson turning 90 years old on April 29, the music world showed out for a special concert at The Hollywood Bowl. The concert was called Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90, A Star-Studded Concert Celebrating Willie’s 90th Birthday and featured a host of big-name musical stars. Speaking to PEOPLE about the event, Nelson said “I have been so fortunate this far that I just hope for things to continue the way they are. I think it would be too much to ask for anything more than what I already have experienced.”

While everyone from Beck to Dave Matthews performed, perhaps the most special guest was Snoop Dogg himself. Snoop and Nelson share a special bond thanks to their mutual love of marijuana. “I love Snoop. He and I are great friends — have been forever. It was a lot of fun just hanging out and getting to do some things — Snoop and I,” Nelson told PEOPLE. The pair performed Nelson’s 2012 hit Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die together at the concert.

As DailyMail reports, they headed to a bar in Manhattan called Pergola after their meal. Rick Ross’ Neighbors Are Trying To Kill His Car Show

Rick Ross loves cars. Last year, he started a car show on the grounds of his mansion in Georgia. Winners of the show walked away with a diamond-encrusted key. General reports suggested it was attended by at least 6000 people. However, some estimates place it at closer to 6500. Many famous faces and car enthusiasts were in attendance at the event last May.

This year, Ross wanted the event to be even bigger. The prize keys were bigger. Lil Wayne was scheduled to perform. He was hoping to top the 6500+ attendees from last year. However, it appears that not everyone in the Fayetteville area is a fan. It appears that some of his neighbors are trying to get the festival shut down ahead of its June 3 hosting.

Rick Ross’ Neighbors File A Petition Against Car Show

“I have the petitions here that we signed,” one neighbor said at an April 25 Fayette County Board of Commissioners meeting. Another neighbor testified that “Our quality of life was unnecessarily compromised.” Their claims stem from accounts that last year’s event brought traffic in the area to a stop, and caused major delays for residences. June 3 is a Saturday, meaning that if were to go ahead, the event could cause delays to people’s weekend plans. However, it is also something of a buzzkill move to go after what Ross is allowed to do on his property. Fayetteville is home to around 19,000 people. A southern migration has benefitted the town greatly, almost doubling the population from where it was in 2000.

“We feel locked out. It took me 40 minutes to get out of my subdivision,” testified a third individual. The opponents of Ross’ show also argue that Ross’ mansion and estate are not appropriately zoned to host a large-scale commercial event such as a car show. It is unknown if Ross, or a representative on his behalf, attended and testified at the meeting. Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty Accuser Seeking Default Judgement For Alleged Sucker Punch

Queens MC, Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty, were sued last year by the head of security at a venue in Germany. The accuser claims Zoo broke his jaw with a sucker punch because a male fan was allowed to run on stage during Nicki’s performance.

Now the accuser is seeking a default judgement after Nicki and her hubby ignored his lawsuit.

Radar Online reports:

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, the man suing the couple has asked a judge to grant him a default.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, back in 2022, Thomas Weidenmuller brought a lawsuit for battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.

Last year, Weidenmüller asked the court to allow him to serve Minaj and Petty via an alternative method. He hired a process server who made various unsuccessful attempts to track down the rapper.

The judge signed off on the request and Weidenmüller placed a notice in the local paper notifying Minaj and Petty of the lawsuit.

Now, the security guard has demanded the court grant him a default against Minaj and Petty. The judge signed off on the default against Minaj but has yet to grant one against Petty.

Now, Weidenmüller will move for a default judgment in the amount of $753k.

Ice Cube Launching Big 3 Reality TV Series

Serial entrepreneur Ice Cube is producing and starring in an unscripted series about his Big 3 professional basketball league. Ice Cube’s BIG3 Basketball League is recognized as the first professional black-owned sports league. Unlike NBA games, BIG3 matches are half-court competitions in which the teams compete to reach 50 points and must win by at least two points with a 14-second shot clock.

Ice Cube is teaming with Jesse Collins Entertainment on a sports docuseries revolving around his successful Big3 sports league. Ice Cube will star in and produce via his Cube Vision with Jesse Collins Entertainment.

The as-yet untitled series will take an unprecedented look at the making of one of the fastest growing new leagues in the United States, the Big3, as Ice Cube defies the NBA on its quest to become one of the biggest sports leagues in the world.

Described as Welcome to Wrexham and Cheer meets basketball, the series will be dual-narrative following Cube and the challenges of building a new basketball league from the ground up, as well as the journey of one of the Big3 teams, as they navigate the ups and downs of a grueling season in pursuit of a national championship. Big3’s widely covered $1.2 billion lawsuit against Qatari investors will also be covered in the series.
