Young Thug’s Lawyer Files Another Motion To Recuse Judge Glanville

With the Young Thug case going on endlessly, his lawyer is doing whatever he can to ensure a speedier finish. With the trial extending beyond 12 months, Brian Steel has seen enough of Judge Glanville. Consequently, the lawyer for Young Thug is filing a supplement motion to recuse Glanville and Judge Rachel Krause. This news comes just a few weeks after Steel put forth his first motion. DJ Akademiks, as well as a crime and public safety writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution broke this just hours ago.

In the motion from Steel, he states, “Mr. Williams’ trial is constitutionally broken based upon the unconscionable misconduct of Judge Glanville”. He even adds in a handful of lawyers (Love and Hylton) who he feels cannot be trusted”. Additionally, the reason Steel wants Krause gone is because she helped with the reelection of Glanville. Overall, this additional motion harkens back to the time that Glanville organized a private meeting with a witness in the RICO case, YSL Woody.

The original recusal motion has also put the entire trial on hold, and it looks to remain that way after this second one. Steel did find out about this ex-parte meeting, however he refused to reveal how he did. However, Woody’s lawyer, Kayla Bumpus, came clean recently that she did give a rundown of what was going down in that meeting. Stick with us for more impending news surround the possible recusal of Glanville and Krause.

Young Thug & YSL RICO Trial: Lawyer At Judge’s Ex-Parte Meeting Finally Divulges On It

If you’ve been following the Young Thug and YSL RICO trial, you know that things are currently on hold due to Judge Ural Glanville’s ex-parte meeting with a witness (YSL Woody), Woody’s lawyer Kayla Bumpus, a court reporter, prosecutor Simone Hilton, and another prosecutor. For those unaware, an ex-parte meeting refers to a motion, hearing, or order requested by, and granted to, a single party in a court case. Specifically, Thugger’s lawyer Brian Steel asked for the recusal of Judge Glanville on the notion that this meeting violated various rules in the trial, including witness collusion for the benefit of the state.

The problem with the meeting is not what was discussed,” Bumpus told The Shade Room‘s Justin Carter of this meeting in the Young Thug trial. “It’s that Mr. Copeland [YSL Woody] was already a sworn witness. So defense council should have at least known about the meeting. I did not tell Attorney Steel [about the meeting]. I do not know who told Attorney Steel. But once they told him, he came and questioned me and I then did give him a rundown of what happened in the meeting.”

Young Thug Trial Might Take A Turn As Case Pauses Due To Ex-Parte Meeting & Attorney’s Testimony

Furthermore, Bumpus was allegedly filling in for a colleague in the Young Thug trial, and specifically for his ex-parte meeting. At press time, the court must wait for another judge to rule on the recusal motion and determine what will become of this YSL case. “We don’t want you in custody,” one of the prosecutors reportedly told YSL Woody. “I can’t say that any other different way, but we don’t want you in custody. The only thing that’s holding you is refusing to testify.”

YSL Woody had attempted to invoke his Fifth Amendment rights on the stand when he responded to a question about how old he was. Also, he tried to refuse immunity and be a state witness, but he ended up cooperating. In addition, Bumpus claimed that, while she didn’t tell Young Thug’s lawyer about the meeting, she did reveal more info about it once he asked. We’ll see whether these extra details and deliberations shift the tide of the case, or if things will go back to our regularly scheduled (and chaotic) court program.

Young Thug YSL RICO Trial Delayed Indefinitely Amid Judge Controversy

Several reports have confirmed that the Young Thug YSL Trial has been indefinitely delayed due to drama involving Judge Ural Glanville, who is now trying to excuse himself from the case.

Due to the secret meeting between the judge, a witness and prosecutors, the trial has stopped and it will be determined if Judge Glanville acted inappropriately.

Glanville agreed that the trial will not proceed until another judge decides whether he should recuse himself from the trial over alleged misconduct.

The Fulton County judge got into a publicized argument with Thug’s attorney Brian Steel over the meeting with witness Kenneth Copeland, which Steel said was unconstitutional.

Glanville has now agreed to make the transcripts from his meeting with the witness and prosecutors public.

Steel recently filed a motion to dismiss Glanville from the trial, alleging he had an “unlawful, improper ex parte meeting” with Copeland who had previously been granted immunity by the prosecution in exchange for his testimony.

Steel claims that he and Thug received no notice of the meeting and that it violated the rapper’s “constitutional and statutory rights, including the right to due process, a fair trial, a fair tribunal, ethical prosecutors and the right to be present at every critical stage of the proceedings under the Georgia Constitution.”

The Young Thug Trial Has Reportedly Been Put On Hold Until A Recusal Judgment Is Made

Last month, the racketeering trial against YSL and Young Thug was sent into disarray as Judge Ural Glanville had Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, held in criminal contempt, sentencing him to a month of weekends in jail alongside his client. While that sentence was suspended while Steel appeals the decision, now the whole proceeding has reportedly been put on hold, as another judge must now review a recusal motion filed against Glanville by the defense.

The defense moved to have Judge Glanville recuse himself a couple of times in this case, but he’s refused on every occasion. On June 18, he denied the most recent motion, which stemmed from a secret meeting between the judge and a witness for the prosecution — the same meeting that prompted Steel’s supposed contempt of court when the defense attorney demanded the minutes from the meeting and refused to tell Glanville how he found out about it.

According to WSB-TV Atlanta, the case will now be on hold until another judge has made a decision on whether Glanville can continue to preside over the case, which has been underway for 100 days today.

Young Thug is accused of being the ringleader of a criminal organization, YSL (Young Slime Life), which has been credited with a wave of crimes across Atlanta, including armed robbery, drug trafficking, and attempted murder.

YSL Woody Affiliate Reportedly Murdered In Atlanta Amid Young Thug RICO Trial

A lot of speculation is running rampant online right now due to the alleged murder of an affiliate of YSL Woody’s supposedly named Tay. Moreover, this discussion is happening because of Woody’s involvement as a witness in the Young Thug and YSL RICO trial, and how folks are claiming that there must be a connection here. We want to make it clear that there’s little confirmation on whether a shooting victim is actually an associate of the YSL member’s, and that any theories about the reason for this attack are purely speculative and unrelated to the case at press time. The tragedy occurred in Southwest Atlanta early Sunday morning (June 30) at an apartment complex in Peyton Place off of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and police reported no other injuries.

Furthermore, the last update we got concerning YSL Woody and the Young Thug trial are about theories seeking to answer why Thug might not have paid for Woody’s legal fees. These rumors landed on the Internet courtesy of 1090 Jake’s recent interview with DJ Vlad on VladTV, and are also unconfirmed as of writing this article. There was a big back and forth between whether or not Woody would testify in the case, which obviously prompted its own heated debate around the idea of snitching. It’s been an unfortunate narrative in the case either way, albeit an expected one given the circumstances of these alleged crimes.

YSL Woody Affiliate Allegedly Shot

Meanwhile, other folks are instead focusing on a very interesting recent Young Thug tweet. “Whateva wham say goes,” Thugger sent out, and “Wham” is his nickname for Lil Baby. As you’re probably aware, Baby has been dissing Gunna for a while now, a former close partner still on YSL that many folks launched snitching claims against after his plea deal in this trial. Did the Atlanta trap pioneer cosign one of his protege’s attacks against another or does this have nothing to do with the case?

Either way, we still have to see what comes of this mystery murder, and whether there’s an actual link to YSL Woody here. There are also rumors that Thug’s brother Unfoonk will reveal some important information soon. Many fans raised eyebrows at his musings on whether to “set the record straight,” considering that he also took a plea deal. It’s all a pretty confusing and concerning affair, so we’ll see what happens with it.

Lil Yachty And James Blake Claim Young Thug Is Wildest Artist To Record With

Lil Yachty and James Blake are one of the most fascinating collaborations in recent memory. The rapper and electronic balladeer couldn’t be further apart, and yet, they’ve found a way to make their disparate sounds for an entire album. Bad Cameo, their debut release as a duo, is out June 28. They’ve been doing lots of promotion in the lead up to its release. That being said, the most surprising anecdote they’ve said thus far has to be their shared fascination with Young Thug.

Lil Yachty and Blake were asked about their wildest studio experiences during an appearance on the Safe Space Podcast. Incredibly, both artists picked sessions with Young Thug as their answer. “Probably Young Thug, during COVID,” Blake quipped. Lil Yachty instantly co-signed his collaborator. “I was just about to say the same thing,” he claimed. “Young Thug, for me, was definitely the craziest session ever.” What makes their shared answer so interesting is that Lil Boat and Blake recorded with Thugger during completely different times.

Lil Yachty Was Fascinated By Thugger’s Musical Process

Lil Yachty elaborated on Young Thug’s unorthodox process. “It’s 60 people in a room, the mic’s in the room, he’s recording in the room,” he explained. “No one stops talking, it’s weed smoke, there’s nowhere to sit, the lights are low.” James Blake confirmed that he was brought into a similarly packed situation. The singer/producer did assert that Thug was very professional in terms of work ethic, however. He told the Safe Space host that the YSL boss was “very supportive” and focused when it came time to lay down vocals.

James Blake and Young Thug have only collaborated on one song, “Kisses Make Sure.” The former claimed that he worked with Thugger during COVID, however, so it remains to be seen whether they have more songs in the vault. Lil Yachty and Young Thug, meanwhile, have multiple collabs dating back to 2016. The two rappers are so close, in fact, that Yachty scrapped an entire album on Thug’s advice. “One time I played [Lil Boat 3] for Young Thug,” he told Pheno Bars in 2023. “He said it was dog sh*t, so I just started over.” It’s this brutal honesty that has led Lil Yachty to dub Thugger one of the “greatest” of his generation. Here’s hoping more collabs are around the corner.

Is Gunna Still Signed To YSL Records?

GUNNA: The Bittersweet Tour - Atlanta, GA

In December 2022, Gunna “entered a negotiated plea, known as an Alford plea, in which a defendant doesn’t admit he committed the crime but acknowledges that it is in his best interest to plead guilty,” as initially reported by WSB-TV. Gunna and Young Thug had been among 28 YSL members arrested in May 2022 and charged with in a 56-count grand injury indictment, including Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations (RICO) allegations. Gunna’s decision to take a plea deal sparked scrutiny with many calling Gunna a “snitch,” especially considering Young Thug is facing nine charges in the ongoing YSL RICO trial.

Is Gunna Still Signed To YSL Records?

On Wednesday, June 26, a video shared by Complex showed Gunna reiterating his loyalty to YSL.

“I’m still signed to YSL,” he said. “I’m still providing. We still pushin’. No paperwork has been changed. So, it’s like, whatever’s been getting and how we’ve been pushin’ this sh*t, it’s still going.”

It’s unclear when the video was shot and for whom, but Gunna expressed a similar sentiment about Young Thug for his XXL Magazine cover story in April: “It’s the same. It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship.”

Earlier this month, Jeffrey Williams Sr., Young Thug’s father, was dancing front row at Gunna’s The Bittersweet Tour finale at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Williams Sr. has been an ardent defender of Gunna.

Young Thug Posts Cryptic Tweet About Lil Baby Amidst YSL Trial

There are a lot of moving parts in the YSL trial. Young Thug is the leader, and therefore the face, of the organization, but Lil Baby and Gunna have played pivotal roles. Lil Baby has continued to voice support for Thug. Gunna, on the other hand, has come under fire from the hip-hop world. Many believe Gunna snitched on his label boss to save himself, though he refutes these claims. This context is important, because Young Thug’s recent tweet doesn’t provide any. The rapper sent a message to Lil Baby, and fans are unsure as to what it could mean.

The tweet in question was posted on June 26. Young Thug wrote: “Whateva wham say goes,” which again, makes little sense in a vacuum. “Wham” is the nickname Thug has for Lil Baby, which implies the rapper is supporting whatever Lil Baby wants to do on the outside. Simple enough. Except for the fact that the message was shared shortly after footage of Gunna surfaced online. The footage in question sees Gunna declaring that he’s still part of YSL. “I’m still signed,” the rapper asserted. “Still providing, like we still been pushing. No paperwork has been changed… It’s still going.”

Young Thug And Lil Baby Have Remained Close Friends

Lil Baby and Gunna, who were once serial collaborators, have been on the outs since the YSL trial started. Lil Baby even threw subliminal disses at Gunna on the song “Family Freestyle” from 2023. “Some ni***s taking pleas at trial I know that slime ain’t happy,” Baby rapped. More disses came on “350,” which saw the rapper calling an unnamed target a “rat.” It doesn’t take much to arrive at the conclusion that Lil Baby is siding with Young Thug in the YSL cold war.

Lil Baby has been upfront about his stance on Thug. He told XXL that he barely talked to Gunna when the YSL case began, but stayed in touch with his label boss. “He’s not like one of my rap friends,” the rapper noted. “He’s one of my personal friends. We actually talk on the phone. Or if we in the same city, like one of them guys that I pull up on.” It’s unclear whether Young Thug’s tweet was meant to suggest that Lil Baby wanted Gunna off the label, or if he was merely co-signing Baby. Either way, all eyes will remain on YSL.

1090 Jake Theorizes On Why Young Thug Might Not Have Paid For YSL Woody’s Lawyer

1090 Jake has a lot to say about Young Thug and YSL’s ongoing RICO trial, especially as some internal conflict seems to affect the case. Moreover, during a recent interview with DJ Vlad on VladTV, he theorized on why he thinks Thugger isn’t paying for YSL Woody’s lawyer. Vlad brought up his alleged conversation with Gunna’s lawyer, who is currently representing Donald Trump, concerning the difficulties of pleading the Fifth as a result of possible federal indictments. Jake claimed that Woody acted in an ill-informed and perhaps manipulated way in court, since he fired his public defense lawyer during proceedings.

Furthermore, 1090 Jake suggested that Young Thug might not have the authorization to pay for counsel for crucial codefendants like Woody, as they could possibly testify against him in court. Vlad chimed in to counter with defendants being able to choose their payment sources, but Jake maintained that it might not work out in Thug’s to fund a legal team that might eventually move against him. Both individuals, despite their different perspectives on this specific matter, called this case a “circus” and think that appeals and mistrial rulings will come soon. This specific question of Woody is due to the many narratives that emerged upon his testimony, including the arrest of Thugger’s lawyer Brian Steel and accusations of witness coercion against the case’s judge, Ural Glanville.

1090 Jake Speaks On Young Thug & YSL Woody

Elsewhere concerning this RICO trial, Young Thug’s brother Unfoonk recently offered a vague and confusing message for fans. “Should I set the record straight or let the world think what they wanna think?” he wrote on his IG Story, leaving many fans scratching their heads as to whether this has anything to do with the case. For those unaware, Unfoonk pleaded guilty to certain charges last year, resulting in a 12-year sentence with ten of those being on probation. This caused much controversy around potential snitching accusations, so fans want answers as quick and as clearly as they can get them.

Meanwhile, it looks like Judge Glanville is here to stay. He did not approve of motions to recuse him from the trial, and it seems like he’s committed to continuing the legal process and seeing it through himself. Whether or not this holds up is a question for another time. For now, 1090 Jake and plenty of others are trying to piece things together little by little.

Young Thug’s Brother Unfoonk Bamboozles Fans With Cryptic Message: “Should I Set The Record Straight”

Young Thug, as everyone knows at this point, is still working tirelessly to make his case and be a free man in the near future. Unfortunately, it seems that every other day presents a new setback for the Atlanta, Georgia influencer and multi-hyphenate. One of them involves his brother and fellow YSL rapper, Unfoonk. Many fans observing this case closely feel that he screwed over his blood relative by accepting his plea deal nearly one year ago. To recap, Unfoonk pleaded guilty to one count of violating the state’s RICO act in addition to another count of theft by receiving stolen property. It led to a 12-year sentence, which includes 10 on probation. Now, Young Thug’s brother has a message that is seemingly making him more enemies by the second.

According to HipHopDX, Unfoonk was all sorts of cryptic, sharing the note on his Instagram story. “Should I set the record straight or let the world think what they wanna think”, he said. Clearly, there is no telling what he could be possibly referring to, other than some stray link to the YSL RICO case. Obviously, fans were leaving with more questions rather than answers.

Those inquisitions mostly centered around the grammatical errors surrounding the message. “Are or or?” questions mostly flood the comments section, as well as telling Unfoonk to hush up. “Shut da hell up till da case over”, one user writes. “Bruh Nb Checking Fa You . How Thug Doing,” another chimes in. More should come of this, so be sure to stick around for more.

What are your thoughts on Young Thug’s brother Unfoonk asking this ambiguous question? What do you think he is referring to here?
