For several months, the relationship between Saweetie and YG has attracted public interest, notably exciting fans of the couple. Both prominent figures in the Hip Hop and staples on the West Coast, the pair captivated the hearts of many while they were together. However, recent development seems to prove that their romantic journey together may have come to an end. While fans were rooting for the couple, their relationship unfortunately lasted less than a year. Nevertheless, they seem to be ending things on a good note, so a win is a win. From its inception to its eventual end, here’s a timeline of YG and Saweetie’s relationship.

March 2023: Whispers Of A Romance Between The Two

After being spotted together at an event in California on March 5, 2023, speculations started flying about the two being in a relationship. Subsequently, Saweetie’s appearance at YG’s all-red birthday party on March 8 slightly intensified the rumors. Many celebrities were in attendance, and the pair didn’t show any public displays of affection. As such, the rumors were largely unfounded. However, some fans insisted that the two were romantically involved. While it remains unclear if the two were already together in March, the speculating fans were soon proved right.

April 2023: More Public Appearances Fueling Dating Rumors

Following the first weekend of Coachella 2023, the Jasmine Brand reported that Saweetie and YG were seen getting cozy at the festival. As expected, this set fans into a speculating spree once again, with many suggesting that they had broken up. However, on December 28, they were spotted together at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This sighting eased the breakup rumors, but only slightly.

January 2024: YG And Saweetie Break Up

On January 15, 2024, it was reported that YG and Saweetie had called it quits on their relationship. Moreover, YG was also spotted on his ex Kehlani’s comment section on Instagram. After his and Saweetie’s last sighting in December, this news came out of left field. Here’s a full timeline of YG and Kehlani’s short-lived relationship.

2014: The Pair Meet As Their Careers Begin To Reach New Heights

Although the precise details of their initial encounter are unclear, rumors suggest YG and Kehlani first connected during music industry events in 2014. Kehlani confirmed this once the pair began dating in 2019, stating she had known the rapper for over five years, since the respective releases of their 2014 albums Cloud19 and My Krazy Life.

In fact, Kehlani stated that YG hollered at her long before they started seeing each other. However, she had no interest in dating him at the time due to her aversion to celebrity couples and “industry people.”

After unveiling their relationship to the world, the Compton, California rapper caught attention by canoodling with a female fan on camera in Los Angeles. Reps for YG took to The Shade Room to make a statement on his behalf, while the rapper himself shared a now-deleted Instagram story that read, “I love Kehlani I would never.” According to his PR team, YG “was drunk, got carried away and it was very regretful for putting himself in that situation and hurting Kehlani. He has no romantic connection to the girl, just a drunken moment carried away.”

Though Kehlani didn’t comment publicly about the situation, she took to social media to delete several images of the pair spending time together. However, the controversy didn’t end their relationship, as they continued to see each other without problems for at least another month.

February 17, 2020: Kehlani Announces Her Breakup From YG With A New Song

Just days later, Kehlani released a heartbreaking song titled “Valentine’s Day (Shameful),” which features lyrics regarding infidelity in a relationship. The singer would go on to express to fans that the lyrics are very literal to her relationship with YG and describe the events leading to their ultimate breakup. Further, Kehlani has since clarified that she and YG ended on good terms and have agreed to not make things awkward when they cross paths in public or at music events. Now, nearly four years after the split, YG has ignited rumors that the pair might get back together. This news comes as reports stated YG and Saweetie have split, though the rapper now denies that this is the case. During the time these reports were circulating, YG commented on a gym selfie from Kehlani, using just the “OK” hand emoji. Though this flirtatious comment aroused confusion from fans, YG claims he and Saweetie are still together, so nothing ultimately came of the interaction.

The West Coast duo mostly kept quiet for the duration of their time together, though we did see them outside in coordinating outfits on more than one occasion.

Earlier this week, sources close to them alleged that Saweetie and her ex are going their separate ways. Both reportedly feel friendship is the right choice for them as they continue to focus on their respective work obligations. Interstingly, internet sleuths caught YG in the comments of his former lover, Kehlani’s recent gym photo, immediately starting rumours of his desire to spin the block with her. However, he’s responding to the gossip and clarifying that his “SHOT O’CLOCK” collaborator is the only woman with his attention.

Now, a lower-profile but still popular couple, YG and Saweetie, has also apparently broken up, according to a report from The Shade Room.

According to the Instagram gossip account, a source close to the couple confirmed they made a mutual decision to split up, as both are busy with their careers and focused on making the most of them.

The two California rappers were rumored to be dating after Coachella last year, seemingly confirming the speculation during a cozy getaway in Cabo, Mexico a month later. In July, they announced a joint tour along with Tyga, which concluded in November with a hometown show at the Forum in Inglewood. The three rappers also collaborated on Saweetie’s July single “Birthday.”

Since then, YG and Tyga collaborated on their joint project, Hit Me When U Leave The Klub, while Saweetie most recently popped up on fellow Cali native Anderson .Paak’s Apple Music radio show .Paak House Radio to play a game of “Name That Tune.”

YG & Saweetie Call It Quits After 7 Months Of Dating: Report

YG and Saweetie were one of hip-hop’s most low-key but beloved couples in recent memory, but it seems like they went their separate ways. Moreover, according to new reports from TMZ, representatives from both rappers spoke to The Shade Room about how they mutually decided to end their seven-month-ish relationship, as they think they would be better off as friends. Also, these reports suggest that neither is very interested in seeking another partner right now, and that they want to focus on their careers first and foremost. It’s a sad thing to hear about, but at least this all seems amicable and respectful, which is more than we can ask for in these wild times.

Furthermore, the West Coast MCs confirmed their romance around in May of 2023 following a month or so of rumors. Not only that, but this wasn’t really a surprise: YG and Saweetie have collaborated often– most recently on the former’s “BIRTHDAY” single– and they toured together with Tyga. As such, it was great to see these two work well together within and outside of their careers and personal lives. After all, they were pretty low-key about everything, which again, is more than we can ask for from most couples with a strong bond before their romantic union.

Meanwhile, the last we heard from them in the pop culture and gossip mill was their October performance at the University of Southern California. Since then, things cooled down significantly at least on our end, leading folks to speculate on just how long ago they split. It’s possible that their teams are just now allegedly relaying this to The Shade Room after days, weeks, or months of a relationship status update between YG and Saweetie. Perhaps we’ll just have to wait and see whether either Cali native speaks out about what they had, and what they might continue to manifest beyond a cuff.

Stunna Girl and YG are getting 2024 started off right. The pair didn’t wait long into the new year to share a new track and the song itself doesn’t hold anything back. It’s the first time the duo have collaborated on a song together and they brought out one raunchy bar after another for the hard-hitting banger. “Stand Up” follows a 2023 that saw Stunna Girl releasing a few other notable collaborations. She found herself with a surprise hit in the song “Like Dat” which has amassed nearly 10 million streams on Spotify alone. To push the track even higher she recruited French Montana for a remix. Shortly after, she teamed up with JT of City Girls fame for yet another remix of the song. All three versions of the song sit among other tracks like “Real Rap” and “Pretty Privlidge” as some of her most-streamed music to date.

Stunna Girl Flexes On “Stand Up”

Meanwhile, YG may have had an even busier 2023. He released an entire collaborative project with Tyga called Hit Me When U Leave The Klub. The album also featured appearances from Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, and Blxst. The single “Brand New” with Lil Wayne served as quite the breakout hit with over 22 million Spotify streams since it dropped last year.
