Usher Joins Muni Long For Super Sensual “Hrs & Hrs (Remix)”

Usher is known as something of a heartthrob within the music industry, which is what made him the perfect collaborative option for Muni Long’s new “Hrs & Hrs (Remix).” The singer-songwriter first shared the romantic track in 2021, but she continues to find ways to breathe new life into it. While her intro and verse remains the same on this New Music Friday’s (June 23) version, Usher comes in midway through the slow and sensual song to turn up the heat like only he can.

“Where would I be if I didn’t have you? / I’d be a fool / What’s mine is yours and is ours / Yes it is / I’ve never been in love like this / A love like us / Is exactly what I need / Every night for some hours,” the Texas-born superstar beautifully croons. So far fans have been sharing positive reviews of the joint effort online, though it may not be the first time fans of Usher and Long have heard it.

Muni Long Taps Usher for the “Hrs & Hrs (Remix)”

As Rated R&B notes, the “Baby Boo” hitmaker joined Usher during his Lovers & Friends Festival set last month, at which time they sang a duet to a cheering audience. The original “Hrs & Hrs” earned Long her first-ever Grammy for Best R&B Performance, so it’s understandable why she wants to keep the torch lit. However, she’s given us plenty of other new arrivals in the same since then on her Public Displays of Affection: The Album project, and is sure to keep the fire coming as she grows as an artist.

Stream Muni Long’s new “Hrs & Hrs (Remix)” with Usher on YouTube above, or add it to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Which version do you prefer more, this weekend’s or the 2021 original? Let us know in the comments, and check back later this weekend for more HNHH release recommendations.

Usher, Not Beyoncé, Is ‘This Generation’s Stevie Wonder,’ According To Samuel L. Jackson’s Daughter

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Samuel L. Jackson discussed not only his new Marvel show that begins streaming today (it’s called Secret Invasion and it’s on Disney Plus) but also, fittingly enough for the publication, his taste in music. And while some of his responses are no surprise, others are, and some are just downright illuminating.

In addition to admitting that he likes the music of the late Juice WRLD, he also draws an interesting parallel between Stevie Wonder, Usher, and Beyoncé. Check out his full response below:

There’s some music of my youth that I still listen to. I like rock music — I was sort of a hippie during the Sixties — and in the Seventies, when I was in Atlanta, there was this Black rock band called Mother’s Finest. They played at Alex Cooley’s Electric Ballroom. I listen to a lot of modern hip-hop also. Sometimes I’ll turn on some spatial DJ on Apple Music to hear whatever’s out there now. I’m pretty open to everything except country. [Laughs] The personal hip-hop music is very interesting to me. Back when Juice WRLD was alive, I listened to that. The kid was having some issues, but the music was still good. I remember asking my daughter and her friends who their Stevie Wonder was, and they said, “Usher.” They didn’t say Beyoncé. They said, Usher.

Chilli & Usher: TLC Singer Stayed In Contact With R&B Star During His Marriage

One of pop culture fanatics’ favourite couples to watch over the past year has been Chilli and Matthew Lawrence. The unexpected duo first got together in 2022, shortly after he finalized his divorce from professional dancer Cheryl Burke. It’s obvious that the TLC alum’s feelings for Lawrence run deep, as she previously shared that she would be happy to marry him. While Chilli is more in love than ever before since beginning her new relationship, she recently revealed to PEOPLE that it took years to get over one of her past loves.

Usher seems to be the “one that got away” for the “No Scrubs” songstress, though they apparently remained in contact up until 2019 – even while he was married. “I love hard. I was like, ‘God, why can’t I get over this?’ He couldn’t either,” she reflected to the outlet. Finally, Chilli got tired of repeating the same cycles and cut the Houston native off to “focus on [herself].” Not only did she quit Usher, but the 52-year-old “stopped dating” as a whole, proving how committed she was to her healing journey.

Chilli and Usher Have Plenty of History

“Before that, I thought if I met the right guy during that time that I wasn’t over [Usher] it wouldn’t work. I would never want to straddle the fence,” Chilli added. Prior to going no contact, she and the Confessions hitmaker could find themselves back in each other’s lives during periods of being single.

While Chilli has been falling further in love with Matthew Lawrence, Usher has been living the dream during his Las Vegas residency. One of the most recent celebrity guests to get the up close and personal performance treatment from the vocalist is Baby Phat designer Kimora Lee Simmons. Read all about that at the link below, and check back later for more music/pop culture news updates.

Chilli Reveals She Hooked Up With Usher For Over A Decade Following Breakup

Screen Shot 2023 06 03 at 1.41.36 PM

For years fans hinted they wanted to see the reunion of one of their favorite celebrity couples. TLC songstress Chilli recey admitted that after breaking up with entertainer Usher Raymond in 2003, she quietly hooked up with him for years until breaking it off for good in 2019.

People Magazine report:

“I have never experienced anything like this,” she tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue, opening up about her happy life now with boyfriend Matthew Lawrence, 43, ahead of the premiere of Lifetime’s new documentary TLC Forever. It is the first high-profile relationship the singer, 52, has had since famously dating Usher from 2001-2004. “We definitely had some chemistry,” she says, when asked about her time with the R&B star. “But working chemistry does not mean it works in your personal life. If we were working, it was great. But outside of that, we’re so different.”

Noting how fans rooted for them as a couple, she says, “It looked great, but in real life … he knew he had to be a certain way with me and he couldn’t.”

While she denies rumors that his hit breakup album Confessions is about her (“I was with him at the studio that whole time”), the couple still wasn’t meant to be, she says due to differing values and trust issues. Still, they remained off and on for years, reconnecting when they weren’t in other relationships. “I love hard,” says Chilli. “I was like, ‘God, why can’t I get over this?’ He couldn’t either.” Leaning on her Christian faith, she eventually cut off contact for good in 2019 “to focus on myself,” she says. “I even stopped dating. Because before that I thought if I met the right guy during that time that I wasn’t over [Usher] it wouldn’t work. I would never want to straddle the fence.”

Fun Fact: Usher was married to Tameka Raymond from 2007 to 2009 and he was married to Grace Harry from 2015 to 2018.

Chris Brown Defended By Lisa Raye In Usher Drama

Recently, it was reported that Chris Brown’s 34th birthday party ended on a violent note. Rumors swirled that he and his crew jumped Usher at the event. This development was surprising, given that the two R&B singers have a close relationship. While the story remains unconfirmed and is mostly based on hearsay and conjecture, reports have flooded in from all angles. Although some individuals may need to see video evidence to believe it, most are curious to know what happened. Though there is no video of the physical altercation, a video did later emerge of an argument between the two. According to these accounts, it was not a personal grudge but a matter of defending a victim of Brown’s behavior.

Usher threw a skate party for Brown’s birthday, with guests including Mario, Bow Wow, and many others. However, things reportedly took a turn for the worse as Brown allegedly got increasingly intoxicated. He was said to have been disrespectful to Teyana Taylor, approaching her in a drunken state. It’s unclear what exactly he said or did. Multiple individuals are believed to have joined the argument, leading to the alleged altercation. Now, Chris Brown has a new defender in Lisa Raye.

Lisa Raye: Why [Brown] Gotta Chill?

Lisa Raye spoke out in Brown’s defense on Fox Souls’ Cocktails With Queens. In the roundtable-style interview, Raye says that the public treats the singer unfairly based on his past. However, she points out that having a past doesn’t mean everything is automatically your fault. “Why he gotta chill? Why he gotta chill?” Raye asked. “What if he felt just like what he said? ‘F her.’ What if he felt like that? What I don’t like about it is that every time his name is brought up, that he always gets automatically blamed. Because, ‘He is that way.’ We know him to be that, so it gotta be him.”

Raye went on to compare her past to Brown’s, giving some insight as to why she feels that he is treated unfairly. “That’s what I don’t like when people have that kind of stigma – because I got that. It’s quick for you to think that, ‘Oh Lisa Raye would have done that,’ or, ‘Lisa Raye said that,” said the actress. “And I don’t like that because that very next time, it could have been very different. But you blame me because of my past.” What do you think of Lisa Raye’s defense of Chris Brown? Do you think that the public treats him unfairly? Let us know in the comments!
