Saweetie Teases New Song With London On Da Track Production In Chicago

It’s been several years of EPs, singles, and other notable moments, yet there’s still no debut album from Saweetie. Of course, she’s spent plenty of time giving updates and timelines on when the album is coming, and why it’s taken so long to release. However, it seems like all of that might change this year after performances and new music teases, plus a couple of notable collaborations and last year’s EP, THE SINGLE LIFE. Recently, at Chicago’s Pride In The Park Festival, the Cali native teased a new track with production from acclaimer beatmaker London On Da Track. Moreover, it’s reportedly titled “Shot O’Clock” and hopefully drops very soon.

In terms of the beat, it’s a classic bounce for Saweetie, harkening to West Coast rhythms and chorus structures. There’s even a Spanish countdown that compliments the beat and melody quite well, on top of sampling Suzanne Vega and DNA’s “Tom’s Diner.” Lyrically, it’s just as boastful, confident, and club-ready as you expect a track from the 29-year-old to be. Her performance on it is sharp, focused, and filled with laidback energy.

Saweetie & London On Da Track’s Teased Song

However, a bigger story involving her recently actually involved another rapper allegedly throwing a diss her way. Moreover, the “ICY GIRL” seemed to catch a stray from Young Thug on the track “Want Me Dead” off his new album BUSINESS IS BUSINESS– or at least that’s what fans thought. “My n***a ain’t even tryna hit sweetie,” Thugger raps. He took to Twitter to clarify that he said “sweetie” and not “Saweetie.” Regardless, it still caused quite the stir online given the hype around the release and the apparent name-drop. Ultimately, Thug is such an expressive rapper that confusion around his bars is to be expected at this point.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta-based producer made a lot of headlines recently for his relationship with Shenseea. In fact, it crossed over into another news story. Summer Walker (his ex that beefed with him a lot online) gave her props for changing his ways. From the looks of it, he and Saweetie will go back to making headlines for their art very soon. On that note, log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on these artists.

Young Thug Debunks Saweetie Diss On New Album “BUSINESS IS BUSINESS”

Even though this wasn’t a diss as people thought, it does answer some interesting questions people had about BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. Moreover, Young Thug recently stated via Twitter that a line that many thought was directed at Saweetie on his new album actually didn’t take aim at her at all. “My n***a ain’t even tryna hit sweetie,” Thug raps on the track “Want Me Dead.” Furthermore, it seems like a lot of people thought that he actually mentioned the California rapper. It was just a case of mishearing the line thanks to there not being a word like “a,” “the,” “my,” and so on before “sweetie.” “Her name is Saweetie,” Thugger tweeted. “I said sweetie. #BusinessIsBusiness.”

Given the Atlanta trap pioneer’s expressive inflections and unique tone, it’s easy to confuse lines from him. However, his clarification points to a few other rumors surrounding BUSINESS IS BUSINESS‘s release. For starters, many wondered how much of these new tracks were freshly recorded during his incarceration. He now confirmed that probably many of these have a couple of years on the shelf. More importantly, though, fans wonder whether Young Thug will clarify whether he meant to diss Gunna on tracks like “Jonesboro,” where he talks about snitching. Since he’s in jail, it’s unlikely that he recorded a specific verse for it. Still, now that he cleared one alleged diss up, why not another? And what does it mean if he doesn’t?

Well, the reason why is likely because of his YSL partner’s plea deal. Its legal ramifications likely bar significant contact between the two, as some pointed out. On the other hand of that argument, Wunna’s done plenty to shout out Young Thug and reach him indirectly. Also, Thugger once linked Gunna’s music on his IG bio and then deleted it. At the moment, it seems like the relationship between the two is assumed to be at least amicably at arm’s length as fans continue to speculate. For example, an alleged leak voice call from the 31-year-old to Lil Baby and Lil Durk asking for them to respond to Gunna’s alleged disses was called fake by Thug’s sister.

Meanwhile, even that hasn’t convinced people that there’s bad blood brewing. That’s certainly true for Gunna’s relationship with other artists, but not necessarily with Thugger himself. While many hope we’ll get true answers soon, those won’t likely be coming anytime soon. Regardless, log back into HNHH for the latest news on Young Thug and Saweetie.

Jason Martin (FKA Problem) Alleges Nicki Minaj Stole The Idea For Her And Ice Spice’s ‘Barbie’ Movie Song From Him And Saweetie

For the upcoming Barbie movie soundtrack, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice teamed up for “Barbie World,” a new spin on Aqua’s classic “Barbie Girl.” However, Jason Martin (the rapper/songwriter/producer formerly known as Problem who now releases music as JasonMartin) claims that Minaj stole the idea for the track from him.

Last December, Saweetie previewed the Aqua-sampling “Icy Girl, Icy World” during an Instagram Live session. Sharing a clip of that on Twitter on June 18, Martin wrote, “As a writer on this, I can confirm this song and idea was sent to her last year to submit for the Barbie movie. It’s sad to see that the original artist has been pushed off a song that was her idea and was meant for both of them. I have no side in this, but I will be compensated.” He continued in another tweet, “If or when I need to detail the whole way it went down in regards to this Barbie sh*t, you will understand why all writers need to be compensated with day rates and contracts protecting their intellectual properties the day of. Hopefully this gets sorted out quietly. But please no I don’t scare easy.”

He spoke about it on Instagram Live, too, claiming he and Saweetie created the song and sent it to Minaj for Barbie movie consideration. She supposedly said she was going to use the song before making her own version without the two involved.

Nicki Minaj Allegedly Bit Saweetie’s Idea For “Barbie World” Track

Apparently the upcoming Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice collab “Barbie World,” for the upcoming Barbie movie, has a certain inspiration that they ripped off. However, that accusation is pretty contentious at the end of the day when you read into it. Still, writer and former rapper Problem, real name Jason Martin, claimed that the New York rapper took Saweetie’s idea to sample Aqua’s 1997 hit, “Barbie Girl.” Not only that, but Martin also alleged that they sent a track called “Icy World” with a slightly different version of the beat to the Barbie team to be used in the movie. Furthermore, he took to both Twitter and Instagram Live to voice his frustration with this alleged biting.

“As a writer on this, I can confirm this song and idea was sent to her last year to submit for the Barbie movie,” Martin wrote on Twitter. “It’s sad to see that the original artist has been pushed off a song that was her idea and was meant for both of them. I have no side in this, but I will be compensated.” While it seems he’s seeking writing credit and nothing more, it’s odd to say he’s not taking a “side.”

Nicki Minaj Accused Of Biting Saweetie’s Barbie Song Idea

“If or when I need to detail the whole way it went down in regards to this Barbie shit, you will understand why all writers need to be compensated with day rates and contracts protecting their intellectual properties the day of,” Jason Martin continued. “Hopefully this gets sorted out quietly. But please no I don’t scare easy.” Regardless, the artist formerly known as Problem also hit up fans live on Instagram to share his thoughts. In it, he reiterated that he doesn’t want to start beef, just get paid for writing the song concept.

Jason Martin Continues His Side Of The Story On Instagram Live

Meanwhile, this accusation is quite odd considering that Ice Spice and Saweetie linked up in the past. Also, is this really the first two instances of people wanting to sample the Barbie song? Things are quite unclear right now with all artists involved not responding as of writing this article. However, it’s hard to predict how it will pan out. YG and Saweetie have kept the rumor mill churning about a potential romance between the two. On Tuesday (May 30), the two were spotted in Cabo, coupled up, enjoying a baecation.

The Shade Room spotted the two in a pool, cuddling up and kissing. YG had a fitted-on hugging Saweetie from behind in one photo. Another catches him kissing the “Tap In” star on her neck.

Previously, the two were spotted at Coachella and caught eyes, sparking rumors about their status. Before that, YG hosted a birthday party, which Saweetie also attended.

Saweetie And YG Seem To Confirm Their Relationship In Romantic New Photos

Saweetie is having a big year. She hopped on a remix of Baby Tate’s viral “Hey, Mickey!” and she was brought out during Latto’s Coachella performance. Now, it looks like her love life has a lot going on as well.

The “My Type” performer has been rumored to be dating fellow rapper YG after the two were allegedly at Coachella together. They also both collaborated with Tyga on “Money Mouf” and Mozzy on “In My Face.” However, photographic evidence has surfaced Tuesday, May 30 of the pair getting close in Cabo.

Though fans are excited for romance in Saweetie’s life, they would also like new material from her, especially considering she’s been putting off her debut album for quite some time. In March, she talked about why it’s been taking a while. “I feel like a debut album is not something you just put out,” she said. “It’s not something you play with. I’m a Cancer, so I like to overthink sometimes, but I think you have to be really careful with that, and I take my art really serious.

“I’ve been through a lot of interesting experiences,” she added. “So, I wanna put that all into my album in the most artistic and organic way.”

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

YG And Saweetie Confirm Their Romance In New Pictures

YG and Saweetie, both hailing from California, have been connected to each other for a while. However, the pair have managed to keep their relationship under wraps. The speculation surrounding their romantic involvement began when Saweetie attended YG’s birthday party in March. At the time, no official confirmation was made. According to The Jasmine Brand, they were seen getting cozy together during their time at Coachella. Given their previous collaborations with artists like Tyga on “Money Mouf” and Mozzy on “In My Face,” it’s not entirely surprising to see them develop a romantic connection.

However, what is somewhat surprising are the rumors that YG provides Saweetie with a monthly “blank check.” Apparently, she is allowed to spend it as she pleases. AllHipHop alleges that YG possesses a black card with an extremely high credit limit. The outlet adds that Saweetie is not in the relationship for financial gain. She already has her own considerable wealth. While the truth of those rumors remain unclear, YG and Saweetie’s romance has now been officially confirmed.

YG and Saweetie have confirmed their relationship and made it public by traveling to Mexico together. The rappers are displaying plenty of affection in Cabo, leaving no doubt about the romantic nature of their connection. On Sunday, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other, engaging in intimate embraces and passionate kissing at the poolside of their resort. Saweetie flaunted her figure in a vibrant pink bikini, and YG appears to be very content with his new partner, which is completely understandable.

The recent vacation during the holiday weekend provides confirmation to the ongoing speculations about YG and Saweetie’s relationship, which have been circulating for several months. If you haven’t been keeping up, the rumors initially sparked when they were spotted together at Coachella last month. However, their rendezvous at the music festival wasn’t just a one-time occurrence, and their trip to Cabo further solidifies the fact that they are indeed involved in a new romance. Who Is Baby Tate? The Multihyphenate Artist Up Next

Baby Tate has been causing chatter following her recent release. The music video for her Saweetie-assisted “Hey Mickey!” has made the rounds on social media, once again stirring conversations about Baby Tate’s versatility. The Georiga-born star was destined to be immersed in the world of music. Her mother, Dionne Farris, is an iconic Grammy-nominated singer who rose to fame in the 1990s. With such strong musical roots, it’s no surprise that Baby Tate would follow in her mother’s footsteps.

The singer-rapper’s journey in music began at a young age. At just 13, she started making beats and writing her own songs. Driven by her passion for music, she taught herself how to play various instruments and honed her songwriting and producer skills. Her dedication and hard work would soon pay off as she began to gain attention.

In 2018, Baby Tate released her debut project, ROYGBIV, an acronym for the colors of the rainbow. The EP blends a variety of musical genres and influences. Tracks like “Bob” and “Crowned” highlighted her confident flow, earning her fans and critics praise.

Gaining Recognition

Baby Tate made major waves in 2019 with the release of her single “That Girl,” which quickly went viral on social media. The catchy track showcased Baby Tate’s playful personality and undeniable charisma. As a result, she began to amass a loyal following, and her music started to reach a wider audience.

Building on the momentum of “That Girl,” Baby Tate dropped her debut studio album, Girls, in 2020. The project, which features collaborations with artists like Kari Faux and Latto, further highlighted her growth. Songs like “Pretty Girl” and “Mean Girl” quickly became fan favorites, reinforcing Baby Tate’s status as a rising star in the music industry.

Stage Presence

In addition to her success as a recording artist, Baby Tate has also been recognized for her talent as a live performer. Her energetic stage presence and charismatic personality have made her a sought-after act at festivals and events nationwide. As her career continues to blossom, Baby Tate is undoubtedly poised for even greater success in the years to come.

As previously stated, Baby Tate’s musical influences can be traced back to her mother, Dionne Farris. Farris, a successful singer in her own right, provided a strong foundation for her daughter’s love of music. Farris’ background in Hip Hop and R&B and her experience navigating the music industry undoubtedly impacted Baby Tate’s development as an artist. By blending elements of various genres and drawing inspiration from her personal experiences, Tate has created a style that sets her apart from her contemporaries.

A New Era

Tate has been actively promoting herself by any means necessary. Her temporary, short-lived stint on Love & Hip Hop created off-screen controversy. However, she didn’t let it break her down. Once going by “Yung Baby Tate,” the artist shortened her moniker as she embarked on a new era. Her releases show that she’s not to be pigeonholed into a specific look or sound. She could be an R&B diva on one track, while she’s a formidable emcee on another.

Looking ahead, Baby Tate is poised for even greater success as she releases new music and collaborates with other artists. Her journey thus far is a testament to the power of hard work and staying true to one’s artistic vision. As she continues to break boundaries and make her mark on the music industry, there is no doubt that Baby Tate’s star will continue to rise. Fans aagerly await her future projects and the next chapter in her already impressive career.
