Toosii Taps Future For “Favorite Song (Toxic Version)” Remix

There’s plenty of new music to get into this Friday (May 19), including singles from Post Malone, Juice WRLD, and H.E.R., as well as a long-awaited R&B EP from Summer Walker. A few of our favourites have hopped on remixes with rising artists as well, such as Snoop Dogg’s work with Scar Lip on “This Is Cali,” and Future’s appearance on Toosii’s “Favorite Song.” In his usual fashion, the Atlanta native chiefly put a toxic twist on the popular track.

“These bitches too smart to compete with you / I’ma leave her right now if she mention you,” Hendrix begins his verse. “Only f*ckin’ on her just to get to you / Only f*ckin’ on her ’cause we’re missin’ you,” he later assures his lover. For his part, Toosii sadly sings on the chorus, “I’m on the stage right now, singin’ your favorite song / Look in the crowd, and you’re nowhere to be found as they sing along.”

The original version of “Favorite Song” first landed back in February, and has since gone on to become a fan favourite within Toosii’s discography. It was produced by ADELSO and Tatiana Manaois (via a sample previously taken from 2022’s “You Might As Well”) and marks a continuation of the 23-year-old’s undeniably hot R&B streak with other singles like “Magic Potion,” Heartaches,” and “Love Is…”

Prior to releasing his latest hit, the New Yorker teased it on TikTok, at which time listeners immediately fell in love and demanded its release. They’ve since shown plenty of support, racking up over 66 million streams on DSPs. Snoop Dogg & Scar Lip Show Us That “This Is Cali” On New Remix

In a stellar case of East Coast and West Coast bonding, Snoop Dogg and Scar Lip just joined forces for a killer remix. Moreover, the Long Beach MC added a verse to Lip’s viral track “This Is New York,” and of course, this time it’s “This Is Cali.” While the track only features one of the Bronx rapper’s original aggressive verses from its first iteration, the remix still shows off her incredible skills when it comes to flow, delivery, and impactful wordplay and phrasing. All in all, it’s quite the murderous and boastful song that harkens back to the gritty hip-hop of the ’90s and beyond.

What’s more is that this rejuvenation of older styles is becoming increasingly fused with more contemporary production techniques. For example, “This Is Cali” features a very crisp and sharp instrumental, with familiar boom-bap rhythms that are stripped back a little bit. In addition, there’s the addition of sliding bass that evokes some of the New York drill style that’s taken over the region as of late. Of course, the most standout part of this remix in comparison to the original is Snoop Dogg’s added verse. It’s been a while since we’ve heard the 51-year-old sound as menacing, focused, and emphatic as this.

Snoop Dogg Brings The West Coast Swagger To Scar Lip’s “This Is New York”

This whole collab came from just a simple Instagram DM, and that’s always amazing to see. Amid other cosigns from Cardi B, the 22-year-old is rapidly becoming one of the game’s next big stars. That’s owed to both her viral presence and lyrical skill. You can find the track on YouTube, but make sure to keep an eye out for more Scar Lip releases. We’re sure that there’s only more heat to come, whether on the East or West Coasts. For more news on the Bronx lyricist and the latest updates on Snoop Dogg, come back to HNHH.

This ain’t a game or a b***h n***a party, if we catch you

Usher was made an honorary Doctor by Berklee College of Music over the weekend. The ceremony took place on Saturday at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. The R&B singer was seen celebrating in a post on Instagram by fellow musician Jermaine Dupri. The performers were in high spirits at the event where Usher was awarded for his contributions to music as well as his philanthropy. Dupri attended the ceremony and later shared a clip of Usher wearing his cap and gown. Usher went on to reference his track “Nice & Slow” from his 1997 album, My Way. He plays on the song’s original lyrics, changing them to “They call me D-o-c-t-o-r R-a-y-m-o-n-d.” Usher later commented on Dupri’s post, restating the remixed lyrics. He added, “I’m so grateful for this opportunity to share a message to the next generation of artists, producers, vocalists, arrangers, dancers and more.” Reminding graduates to, “Be brave.” He tells them, “I hope your spark never goes away.”

Usher Urges Graduates To “Make Great Things”

The artist also shared an inspiring message in his commencement speech earlier in the day. He stated, “My goal as an artist has always been to inspire people to make a positive impact through my music, to make you feel something.” Going on to say, “Last night I felt proud…of the legacy that has been built and that we’re building together as artists.” He told the graduating class to “keep running past that finish line [of your goals], break the barriers, identify that spark in you that motivates you to keep going.” He also told them not to expect everything to be perfect and run smoothly.” Usher urged the graduates to “Take what you’ve learned here [at Berklee], go into the world, and make great things.”

Usher was joined at the commencement ceremony by his mother, his partner Jennifer Goicoechea, and his sons Usher Raymond V and Naviyd Ely Raymond. Dupri as well as another frequent collaborator, Rico Love, also attended to show their support. Dupri received his own honorary doctorate from The Art Institute of Atlanta last June.

Scar Lip Gets Snoop Dogg To Agree To Jump On Her Song

Scar Lip, an up and coming new artist from the Bronx, has received a significant endorsement from Snoop Dogg. The icon has agreed to collaborate on the remix of her popular track, “This Is New York.” On Thursday, the new rapper shared a direct message conversation with the legend on Instagram. She revealed that they had not only discussed business, but also had a FaceTime call to finalize the agreement.

It all started with a simple slide into Snoop’s DMs. Scar Lip sent a message to Snoop Dogg on April 20, saying, “Hey Snoop, I’m a big fan & love your music. I have a song called ‘This is New York,’ and wanted to know if you’d get on the remix,” followed by a heart emoji. Although there was no immediate response, she didn’t give up and messaged Snoop again on May 8, asking, “Hey Snoop you think u can get on my remix?” The next day, Snoop replied, saying, “F*ck yes.” Scar Lip shared the DM exchange on her Instagram page.

Scar Lip Gets The Cardi B Co-Sign

Scar Lip recently got a big show of support from Cardi B, as well. The Bronx native was overwhelmed with emotion after receiving love from her fellow rapper Cardi B, who is also from the Bronx. Cardi B shared a video of the new rapper on her Instagram Story on Monday night and captioned it “I love her.” The post was made following Cardi B’s attendance at the 2023 Met Gala in New York City. In response, Scar Lip broke down in tears. “Cardi B just posted me,” she said. “She inspired me. She showed us young girls we could make it and we could be something, bro. I can’t f*cking believe this sh*t. We did it.”

The up and coming rapper has also received recognition from Swizz Beatz. The producer featured her on his recent EP, Hip Hop 50: Vol. 2. Scar Lip collaborated with Jadakiss and Benny The Butcher on the track , titled “Take ‘Em Out”. Scar Lip debuted her own single, “This Is New York,” last month. Whatever the future may hold for the Bronx native, it looks like it’s getting brighter every day. What do you think of Scar Lip? Are you excited to hear what Snoop brings to the remix? Travis Scott Performs At Miami Nightclub, Teases Remix With Kodak Black

It’s been almost five full years since Travis Scott dropped his last album, ASTROWORLD. Still, word on his next project UTOPIA remains scant and unfulfilled, and the hype around it easily makes it one of the most anticipated drops of the year. Regardless, La Flame is still popping out every now and then to give fans an update (whether from him or as secondhand information) and turn them up in the process. Moreover, he performed at the E11EVEN nightclub in Miami on Saturday night (May 6). Not only did he play a few of his biggest songs ever, but he also teased a remix of Lil Blessin’s “Likka Sto” featuring him and Kodak Black.

Of course, this is far from the first time that Travis Scott teased fans as to his next drops. At Rolling Loud Thailand, the “MAFIA” MC and Offset teased new music together to an amped crowd. Beyond that, there’s also The Alchemist’s vague response to a fan asking if he’s ever collaborated with Travis. With a simple “lips-sealed” emoji, fans think that a link-up between the legendary producer and the Houston star is on its way.

Travis Scott Parties In Miami

Despite anticipation for UTOPIA and what feel like endless teases akin to ASTROWORLD, the 32-year-old’s catalog still holds a lot of weight today. In fact, it would probably hold fans over for another five years. Recently, Travis Scott’s catalog reached an amazing streaming milestone that speaks to his impact and dominant presence in the game. Furthermore, all of his albums have racked up over 2 billion streams each, landing Scott in an elite pantheon of hip-hop streaming giants. Off of the strength of his bangers, ballads, and everything in between, even near-ten-year-old albums like Rodeo stay in rotation.

Meanwhile, it seems like this nightclub appearance went much better than the one that nabbed him an assault lawsuit. While the NYPD maintained that an active investigation into the incident is still underway, he was able to settle that claim with the alleged victim. Regardless, his rabid fanbase won’t let anything distract them from his next release. TiaCorine Taps Latto For “FreakyT” Remix

TiaCorine’s had TikTok on lock with her viral single, “FreakyT” but she’s put new life into the record with the remix. This weekend, the North Carolina rapper debuted the official remix featuring Latto. The ATL native’s latest guest appearance is another exemplary display of her versatility. She slides over the Honorable C.N.O.T.E.’s glossy production effortlessly and compliments TiaCorine’s gritty, Memphis-influenced flow. Even though the South Coast Music Group signee released the single in September 2022, Latto’s addition to the remix signals that TiaCorine will have the summer

With TiaCorine’s original verses intact, Latto sweeps through with another impressive offering. Though far more ‘laxed compared to her usual dominating flow, the Queen Of Da Souf lays it down with extravagant flexes while name-dropping DJ Khaled, Kai Cenat, and her deal with Rihanna’s FentyxSavage. Often times, rappers can hop on a remix, only to outshine the original artists. This time, Latto comes through in a manner that helps TiaCorine flesh out the record into something bigger than it already is.

Latto & TiaCorine Connect

“FreakyT” gained a life of its own on TikTok and Instagram in the months after its release. Though TiaCorine already made a statement since the release of 2020’s 34Corine, her latest project, I Can’t Wait turned her into one artist that everyone needs to keep an eye out for this year. Across the project, he showcased that she can morph her voice from infectious pop-driven melodies to grimey triplet flows that she puts on display on “FreakyT.” Ultimately, she’s the one to watch this year.

The release of “FreakyT (Remix)” arrived on the same day that Latto unveiled her new single, “Put It On Da Floor.” Though the record received widespread approval on the internet, it also resulted in an impending beef with Coi Leray. Latto harmlessly name-dropped the “Blick Blick” rapper on the second verse but was met with immediate pushback after comparing Coi to the size of her blunt. Ultimately, Latto put the rumors to rest during her Coachella set on Sunday.

Quotable Lyrics
Diamonds twitchin’ like they Kai, hold my wrist up, make ’em freeze
Ruby cut, a million dollar chain, Savage Fenty when I’m havin’ sex
When we fuck, he sound like DJ Khaled, tellin’ me this pussy is the best
Tellin’ me it’s super tight and wet, I don’t take the dick without the neck

Coi Leray Helps RAYE “Flip A Switch.” On Must-Hear New Remix

If we had to crown a queen of remixes so far this year, it would undoubtedly be Coi Leray. Not only did she give fans several versions of her smash hit single, “Players,” which first landed in January, but we’ve also heard the Boston native lend her vocal talent to a lot of other artists in recent weeks. At the end of March, it was Sabrina Carpenter’s “Nonsense (Remix),” and now, she’s helping out British singer RAYE with an updated edition of “Flip A Switch.”

The song previously arrived on the foreign talent’s debut album, My 21st Century Blues a few months back, and quickly became a fan favourite. On the chorus, RAYE sings, “Flip a switch on a prick, then I / Come alive in the nighttime / In the club, sippin’ Hennessy / And tell him I’m dead if he callin’ me.” The infectious beat was produced by Mike Sabath, Dj Genius, and the 25-year-old singer-songwriter herself.

RAYE Taps Coi Leray to Remix “Flip A Switch.”

As expected, Leray chiefly brightens up the remix with her bold energy. Her verse begins, “Bad bitch break hearts, all-black Patek watch / Swervin’ through London, we got stars in the race cars.” She later comes through with bars like “We got pretty bitch energy, that’s why they hate us / Guns up for the real ones, let that shit bust,” and “C-O-I, he said, ‘Coi Leray, you lit / We in VIP, takin’ shots with my bitch.” Besides today’s (April 21), single, we’ve also recently heard her on “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” with David Guetta and Anne-Marie, which is already making waves as we inch closer and closer to summer.

Stream Coi Leray and RAYE’s “Flip A Switch (Remix)” on YouTube above, or add the track to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Are you a fan of the Trendsetter‘s latest collaboration? Let us know in the comments, and check back in on Saturday (April 22) for more release recommendations on our Fire Emoji playlist.
