The Rock And Oprah Winfrey Announce $10M Donation To Maui Wildfire Relief

Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have teamed up to help the people of Maui. The pair of entertainment industry A-listers announced that they had launched a $10 million fund to directly help residents of the island affected by the recent wildfires. “We are honored to start this campaign with $10 million dollars and ask for your help in donating to those who have lost their homes,” Johnson said. “We thank you in advance for your contribution.” Winfrey, who lives part-time in Maui, has been on the island in recent weeks, visiting shelters and helping distribute supplies.

Wildfires ravaged the island of Maui, which forms part of the State of Hawaiʻi, earlier this month. Driven by the perfect storm of high-pressure areas and Hurricane Dora, high winds blew the fires across the island. Additional fires started when live electric poles collapsed. Hundreds were evacuated and millions of dollars of property was destroyed. Elsewhere, at least 55 people have died in the town of Lāhainā. Meanwhile, the official death tally now stands at 115. Furthermore, smaller and quickly-contained fires broke out on the islands of Hawai’i and O’ahu.

The Rock And Winfrey Put LA To Shame

The $10 million fund from The Rock and Oprah will go a long way to helping the affected residents of the island. The same can’t be said for some other charitable donations. Earlier this month, the Lakers announced that the 12 LA pro sports teams (Angels, Angel City FC, Chargers, Clippers, Dodgers, Ducks, Galaxy, Kings, LAFC, Lakers, Rams, and Sparks) had come together to make a joint donation to victims of the wildfires. Those 12 franchises are worth a combined $31 billion. However, they gave a joint donation of just $450,000. That’s an average contribution of $37,500.

For context, The Rock and Oprah, are aiming to give 22 times more money to the relief efforts. This is despite their net worth being nine times smaller than the 12 Los Angeles sports teams. As a reminder, the Lakers are paying LeBron James $47.6 million for the 2023-24 season. However, hopefully, the “People’s Fund of Maui” can be put to good use and help the displaced families find some semblance of recovery.

Al Sharpton Calls Out Black Men and Rappers Supporting Trump: ‘He Took Out Ads in Papers Calling For Black Men to Get Death Penalty’

a

Rev. Al Sharpton is speaking against rappers who are standing in support of former President Donald Trump. During an appearance on MSNBC, Sharpton questioned how Black people, including rappers, could support Trump, recalling his history with the Central Park Five.

For a brief history lesson, in 1989, Trump, who was then a prominent New York City businessman, took out several full-page newspaper advertisements calling for New York City politicians to reinstate the death penalty following the brutal rape and attack of a female jogger in New York City. Five youth, Yusef Salaam, Korey Wise, Antron McCray, Raymond Santana, and Kevin Richardson, were wrongfully imprisoned for 7-13 years until the attacker was caught. They had been coerced into giving false confessions and received substantial settlements. All are involved in criminal justice activism efforts now. Trump never formally apologized to the five, especially since he took out the ads before their trials began.

“Let’s go to the 1990s when five young Black and brown men were falsely accused of raping a white woman in Central Park,” Sharpton said. “It was Donald Trump that took out ads in the papers in New York saying they should get the death penalty.”

Sharpton later said, “Black men need to know they were all young Black men. One spent 13 years in jail. He was with us for the March on Washington on Saturday. Let them come and tell the rappers and other Black men being seduced by Trump what he did in his hometown to innocent to Black men.”

Vic Mensa Speaks On PinkyDoll “Light Skin Fishing” Allegations

TikTok star PinkyDoll has found herself in hot water this week following an appearance at the Streamy Awards. Many viewers noted that PinkyDoll is much darker skinned in real life compared to her online content. This led many people to accuse the Canadian content creator of artificially lightening her skin to boost her appeal and engagement.

Furthermore, PinkyDoll didn’t help her case when she responded to the allegations. “When I go to the sun, I can get a little darker. It’s life, what can I do? And I love to be a Black woman, fuck you mean?” she told TMZ. “I think they’re just hating. It’s hate.” This response did not sit well with a lot of people, who saw it as PinkyDoll dodging the issue. Furthermore, she received additional backlash for also essentially admitting to lightening her skin. As part of her interview with TMZ, she said she used lighting tricks to “look more Japanese.” However, now other figures who have had to battle colorism in their careers are stepping forward to speak out.

Vic Mensa Advocates For Natural Beauty

Musician Vic Mensa, who is biracial and has previously addressed the issue of colorism in his own work, discussed the PinkyDoll situation with TMZ. “I think it’s a deeper issue than a person. The aspiration to a European beauty standard influences people to think that they have to be of a lighter complexion to be viewed as beautiful, to view themselves as beautiful,” Mensa told the outlet. “At the end of the day- we as Black people and people of color across the planet – we have to learn to love ourselves and our natural beauty and lean away from those things. I won’t chastise anybody doing it because it doesn’t start or end with this person that you mentioned.”

Furthermore, Mensa delved into the origins of colorism. He argued that the concept had been “programmed” into the Black community through centuries of oppression. He concluded his comments with a statement of support and self-love. “I think [Pinkydoll] is beautiful just the way she is. To anybody that might see this or see that, recognize your beauty the way that you are.”

Rapper Bandman Kevo Gets Trump’s Mugshot Tatted on His Leg

Bandman

It was only a matter of time before former President Donald Trump’s mugshot was everywhere. And everywhere, including Bandman Kevo’s leg. The rapper recently revealed a leg tattoo of Trump’s shot labeled “Make America Great Again.”

Donald Trump’s mugshot is running wild all over the Internet. The former president dropped off his own merch line with the image, but Hip-Hop is getting involved, too. “FDT” creator YG has used the mugshot as the central image of a shirt with the word “FUCKED” blasted across the bottom.

For the first time in American political history, a current candidate for the presidential nomination has been indicted, arrested, and arraigned on criminal charges for electoral interference. Nevertheless, following Former President Donald Trump’s surrender to Georgia authorities for allegedly attempting to rig the 2020 Presidential election, his campaign think tanks came up with the brilliant yet unconventional idea of peddling merchandise with the former Potus’ mugshot on it.

Donald Trump: Everything We Know About His Arrest

Former President Donald Trump was indicted for a whopping 4th time and arrested in Georgia on August 24, 2023. The latest charges stem from his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state. Officials accused Trump of unlawfully wielding his influence and power to secure the White House for another four years.

Since that time, Trump has continued to push the false narrative that he won the election and how it was stolen from him. While he’s gotten away with plenty in the past, he may have gone too far this time. Here’s everything you need to know about the charges against Donald Trump and his latest arrest in Georgia.

What Donald Trump Is Accused Of Doing

DALLAS, TEXAS – AUGUST 06: Former U.S. President Donald Trump speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). At the Hilton Anatole on August 06, 2022 in Dallas, Texas. The embattled 45th president is accused of conspiring with 18 other people, including some who previously worked in his administration, of scheming to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. In a 41-count, 98-page indictment, Donald Trump was hit with 13 felony charges. Some of these include racketeering, making false statements, and solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer.

Donald is accused of calling Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on January 2, 2021. Trump allegedly pressured him to change the results of the state’s election by finding him enough votes to secure victory. Besides being deemed inappropriate, the call was also perceived as threatening. Further, Georgia officials are also accusing Trump of conspiring with his co-defendants in harassing poll workers, trying to appoint new electors to vote for Trump, and trying to access voting machines. Fani Willis, the Fulton County district attorney who also hit Young Thug with RICO charges, has been relentless in going after Trump.

According to the AP, DA Willis said, “The indictment alleges that rather than abide by Georgia’s legal process for election challenges, the defendants engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn Georgia’s presidential election result.”

The Arrest Of Donald Trump

Leading up to his arrest, Donald Trump kept teasing it. Since he had a timeframe to turn himself in, he chose August 24 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Being typical Trump, he addressed the controversy on his social media platform, Truth. In part, he posted, “I have to start getting ready to head down to Atlanta, Georgia, where Murder and other Violent Crimes have reached levels never seen before, to get ARRESTED by a Radical Left, Lowlife District Attorney, Fani Willis, for A PERFECT PHONE CALL, and having the audacity to challenge a RIGGED & STOLLEN ELECTION. THE EVIDENCE IS IRREFUTABLE! ARREST TIME: 7:30 P.M.”

Donald Trump milked every moment and arrived in his private jet, dubbed the “Trump Force One.” Like every other defendant in Fulton County, Mr. Trump had to take a mugshot. Boy, oh boy, did he take a mugshot. Staring right at the camera with a scowl that gave new meaning to “if looks could kill,” Trump left an impression that will last a lifetime. After posting his $200,000 bond, Donald Trump was on his way to continue his life and campaigning for another term in office.

Some of Trump’s co-conspirators include the man once known as America’s mayor and Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani. Fulton County also indicted former Trump White House aide Mark Meadows. Leader of “Black Voices for Trump” Harrison Floyd and former Kanye West publicist Trevian Kutti were also indicted and arrested.

What Could Happen To Donald Trump

Currently, Donald Trump is making a ton of money, capitalizing off of merch with his now-infamous mugshot. He’s also leading the polls for the Republican nomination for the 2024 election. While Trump is taking it all in stride and making his situation no big deal, he’s facing some severe consequences. He’s set to be arraigned in Georgia on September 6 at 9:30 a.m.

Along with the other pending cases in other states, Trump is facing hundreds of years behind bars. However, that is highly unlikely given he’s a former president, wealth, and influence. Although his arrest was touted as proving Trump was not above the law, everything surrounding it differed from the typical defendant. But, when it comes to Donald Trump, nothing is ordinary.

Styles P Claps Back After Biggie’s Former Manager Calls His Trump Argument “Bullsh*t”

Recently, Styles P has been getting some backlash for claiming that he preferred when Donald Trump was in office instead of Joe Biden. The artist’s argument was that both parties are racist, and he’d rather deal with clear racism than covert racism. “I’d rather you have you tell me you don’t like me and know you don’t like me and you inform me than me have to guess it or you secretly don’t like me but you telling me you don’t like me,” he explained.

“I think the government been doing that for ages. I’d rather deal with clear racism,” he continued. “Just someone being who they are and letting you know where they come from.” Countless social media users weighed in on his statement, and many have now accused him of being a secret Trump supporter. The Notorious B.I.G.’s former manager, Jacob York, even recently shared his take on the discussion. He described feeling as though Styles P’s argument doesn’t make any sense, calling him “disingenuous.”

Jacob York Calls Styles P “Disingenuous”

“Styles is my boy so no disrespect to him,” he says in a new clip. “This argument is bullsh*t.” He continued, “It’s like saying I want a gun to my face then maybe there being a possibility that someone drive by and shoot me. Nah, I don’t want either, right?” York then went on to claim that many others have used Styles P’s argument before as a means to shield their “misogyny” and “bigotry.”

Styles P responded to the clip, claiming that York had no right to call him disingenuous. “Here’s how I choose to see it: Touré asked me about the presidency. See, Jacob put the video like I choose Trump over Biden. I said I preferred Trump over Biden because I like to deal with my racism straight up,” he explained. “When Trump was in office, you spoke about racism with your white co-worker,” he continued. “You spoke about racism at your barbershop. You knew your enemy was there. Whether you have a loud racist or a quiet racist, they’re both racist.” Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Styles P.

Eminem Sends Cease and Desist Letter to Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Following Politician’s Performance of “Lose Yourself” at Campaign Event

Eminem Sends Cease and Desist Letter to Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Following Politician's Performance of Lose Yourself at Campaign Event

The 2024 Presidential Election is still over a year away, but newcomer candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has already taken an L following his recent performance of Eminem‘s hit “Lose Yourself” at a campaign event in Iowa as Eminem’s legal team sent a cease and desist order requesting that Ramaswamy not use Em’s intellectual property at political events.

Ramaswamy first performed the song karaoke-style at the Iowa State Fair in an appearance with Gov. Kim Reynolds. He said that the song was his favorite walkout song for a campaign event. (CNN has a video of the performance.)

Eminem’s legal team reportedly reached out to music licenser BMI, who then sent a letter to Ramaswamy’s lawyer that read as follows:

Dear Mr. Roberts:

This letter serves as notice to you pursuant to the BMI Music License for Political Entities or Organizations entered into by Broadcast Music, Inc. (‘BMI) and Vivek 2024 on May 24, 2023 (the Agreement**) that BMI has received a communication from Marshall B. Mathers, III, professionally known as Eminem, objecting to the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign’s use of Eminem’s musical compositions (the “Eminem Works”) and requesting that BMI remove all Eminem Works from the Agreement.

As such, pursuant to Paragraph 2(a) of the Agreement, this letter serves as notice that the Eminem Works are excluded from the Agreement effective immediately. BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem Works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach of the Agreement for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies with respect thereto.

Very Truly Yours,

Pamela Williams

Ramaswamy has apparently agreed to comply with his campaign spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin stating: “To the American people’s chagrin, we will have to leave the rapping to the real slim shady.”

Ramaswamy, 38, is the youngest serious presidential contender in the current crowded candidate field and hopes his youth will allow him to connect to younger voters.

“Black Voices For Trump” Leader Harrison Floyd Still In Jail After Refusing To Hire A Lawyer

The Donald Trump case continues to add more headlines. There were 19 defendants and among them, one still remains behind bars for the time being. That man is Harrison Floyd, and he is the only individual not to strike a bond agreement before his arrest by authorities. The reason why the “Black Voices for Trump” leader is still locked up is due part to his judge Emily Richardson stating that she views him as a flight risk to commit more crimes.

“So I’m going to go ahead and find that you are at risk to commit additional felonies and a potential risk to flee the jurisdiction.” Because of that, Richardson is currently denying a shot for Floyd to receive an agreement on a bond. “I do find that based on the open charge against you there are grounds for bond to be denied at this point.” According to FOX News, Floyd is facing charges of influencing witnesses, conspiracy to commit solicitation of false statements and writings, and violating the Georgia RICO Act. He is being contained at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, after turning himself in on Thursday.

An Instagram video clip is making its way across the platform catching the conversation between Floyd and Judge Emily Richardson. This is becoming a big deal too because he states in the video that he does not want to hire a lawyer since they are too expensive for him. Lloyd says he cannot afford to put his family and his daughter in a tough situation. It is unfortunate to hear that, but of course, this whole deal brings up a whole bunch of questions.

What are your initial thoughts on Harrison Floyd being denied a bail agreement? Do you think Donald Trump will help him in any capacity? Do you feel bad for Floyd refusing to hire a lawyer for how expensive it is for him? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy Addresses Eminem’s Cease And Desist

The long-running history of artists asking politicians to stop using their music during their campaigns continues. Recently, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Eminem are the latest pairing to join the list. It all began when the 38-year-old went viral earlier this month from performing Eminem’s classic song “Lose Yourself” at the Iowa State Fair. After seeing the clip of Vivek the Michigan rap megastar did not take too kindly to him performing it. The history of Em’s distaste for the Republican political party goes back years.

This is especially true when former President Donald Trump was running for office. Eminem said enough is enough as he decided to get in touch with BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) with a request to prevent Ramaswamy from using his music in the future. BMI followed through as they sent a cease and desist letter to the potential future president making him aware to never use a single melody from the icon’s discography. “BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem Works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach of the Agreement for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies with respect thereto.”

Vivek Ramaswamy Responds: Watch

Fast forward to August 29, Vivek joined MSNBC for a one-on-one interview. They discussed a host of topics, including the Eminem cease and desist request. Ramaswamy agreed to let bygones be bygones, but he added a little extra to his response. “I’ll respect his wishes but I would just say will the ‘Real Slim Shady’ please stand up?” He goes on, “Eminem and his rise used to be a guy who actually stood up to the establishment and said the things the establishment didn’t want him to say.” Vivek then ended his response with well wishes for Eminem, “But I have hope for him that he will one day rediscover the ‘Renegade’ that made him great and I’m rooting for that success in his life.” Maybe Eminem will write a diss track back?

What are your initial thoughts on this response to Eminem from Republican Vivek Ramaswamy? Do you think Eminem was right to send a cease and desist towards Ramaswamy? Or, are you on the politician’s side? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around the music world.
