Iggy Azalea may be laying low on Instagram right now, but the past few days have seen her speaking her mind over on Twitter in full force. The Australian artist has been taking a break from flaunting her figure to, instead, debate with some Twitter trolls about the dangers of drag queens. It all began when Azalea announced she would be taking a break from Elon Musk’s app due to the incessant negativity, homophobia, and criticism she’s been seeing.
“Nah Iggy, you wrong,” one person responded to the “Work” rapper’s rant on Tuesday (June 13). “People really aren’t homophobic, we are in 2023. It started becoming an issue when they started trying to indoctrinate kids. You have a son of your own, would you be ok with his school [having] drag shows? Or books teaching him to give BJs?” they asked Azalea. Minutes later she responded, making it clear she would be more than happy to bring her and Playboi Carti’s 3-year-old son, Onyx, along with her to watch drag artists perform.
“Yes!!! I would love to take my son to a drag show and will! He already knows tons and yes,” the blonde beauty proudly declared. “I would LOVE for my son to read about blowjobs, birth control and sex education in general as soon as he hits puberty,” Azalea went on to note before putting the Twitter troll in his place. “Ps. You’re a loser AND you’re st*pid as F**K,” her post ended, earning her tons of praise from her fans.
Things have been relatively quiet on Iggy Azalea’s front lately (especially compared to the frequent thirst traps she served up in the first half of 2023), but we now know it’s because she’s still recovering from a recently sustained injury following her tour with Pitbull. Fans of Playboi Carti and YoungBoy Never Broke Again are convinced that the two controversial rappers are working on a joint album. The speculation was prompted by Carti making an unexpected return to social media with an Instagram Story post with a photo of YoungBoy wearing an inverted cross pendant on his chain. Sacrilegious symbolism is kind of Carti’s thing, so naturally fans wondered whether YoungBoy rocking the Atlanta genre-bender’s signature iconography — and Carti posting it — was a sign.
Even more evidence of an incoming collaboration appeared on the Instagram profile @jewelryunlimited, where celebrity jeweler Wafi amin Lalani noted the chain and pendant were a gift from Carti to YoungBoy, “ahead of their new collab album.”
The duo had never previously collaborated but both have proven to be very popular among younger hip-hop fans despite aggressive opposition from traditionalists and less-than-sterling histories with women. If the rumor does turn out to be true, it’ll mean that Carti is extra busy working on collaborative projects this year; in March, Lil Uzi Vert teased that they and Carti were also working on a collab project and “about to take over the world.”
Carti is also billed to appear at Rolling Loud Miami and Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash this year, so he’s got a pretty full schedule for 2023. YoungBoy, meanwhile, has raised his proile with a string of big-name collaborations (and beefs) but is currently stuck in Utah on house arrest for the foreseeable future.
Playboi Carti might have just caused the two most volatile and fervent fanbases in hip-hop today to unite. Moreover, the Opium label head just reposted a picture of NBA YoungBoy wearing an Opium chain, who also took the opportunity to promote his Never Broke Again merch. Furthermore, fans lit Twitter and Instagram ablaze with album rumors, clamors for a collab, and a whole lot of hype. Also, Instagram jewelry accounts and other social media pages bolstered these rumors by specifically reporting news of a joint album and Carti gifting the chain to YB. Further down, you’ll be able to see an embed alleging the collaboration, and it’s important to note that these rumors are still unconfirmed.
Of course, this is one of the most elusive rappers today linking with one of the most prolific. As such, a lot of people remain skeptical of the collab chances of seeing the light of day. Still, even a simple Instagram Story post from Playboi Carti is a lot of info by his standards, as album rumors continue to prop up and then dissipate. The one who might confirm these rumors to greater extent is NBA YoungBoy, who hasn’t said much other than plugging the promoted clothing.
Regardless, the possibility of a team-up between these two is quite exciting and has a lot of potential. After all, YoungBoy tried out more rage-inspired sounds on his 2023 project I Rest My Case. As arguably the figurehead and most important innovator in that genre, the WholeLotta Red MC could add a lot to the Baton Rouge rapper’s development. On the other hand, we could see them try something completely different, or maybe Carti will enter YB’s lane.
Rumors Swirl Online Of Collab Album
Given his recent track with The Weeknd and Madonna, “Popular,” we know that the “King Vamp” artist is one to consistently surprise the fans. If it actually shapes up to be true, this could be a standout moment for hip-hop in 2023. Whether it happens or not, one thing’s for sure: the fanbases’ online energy is enough to light up a stadium. In any case, stick around on HNHH to stay up to date on all things NBA YoungBoy and Playboi Carti.
The Weeknd, Playboi Carti, and Madonna have united for a new single, “Popular.” What a combination. The single is from the soundtrack for the HBO original series THE IDOL.
“Popular” is the second single from the soundtrack, following “Double Fantasy,” which featured Future. The full release will drop on June 30.
The HBO® Original series THE IDOL debuts Sunday, June 4 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.
Ahead of the series premiere of HBO’s The Idol this weekend, the show’s co-creator Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye has given us another taste of the show’s soundtrack. Tonight (June 2), he has shared “Popular” which features Playboi Carti and the original pop idol herself, Madonna.
These days, getting Playboi Carti and Madonna on a track is a task that proves equally difficult, however, The Weeknd, who is considered an idol of his time, managed to make it happen. On “Popular,” The Weeknd, who is likely singing from the perspective of his character, a cult leader named Tedros, alludes to a woman doing whatever it takes to become famous.
Over the course of the song, The Weeknd is likely alluding to Jocelyn, a fictional pop star on The Idol played by Lily-Rose Depp. Carti and Madonna garnish the song with hypnotic ad-libs and harmonies.
The Idol had its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival last weekend, however, the series, which The Weeknd co-created with Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson, was panned by critics, who likened the series to softcore pornography.
Viewers will finally get to see the often-delayed series this Sunday.
The Idol premieres 6/4 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO. Episodes will air weekly on Sundays and be available to stream on Max.

Pi’erre Bourne may be best known in mainstream circles for the “Yo Pierre, you wanna come out here?” tagline. However, Bourne is a multifaceted artist who works as a producer, rapper, and audio engineer. Along with producing some of the top tracks of the past few years for rappers such as Playboi Carti, Young Nudy, and Lil Uzi Vert, just to name a few, Pi’erre has also released three solo studio albums. Pi’erre has also worked closely with Kanye West and has recently solidified himself as one of the most prolific producers. Here’s a look at the life and career of Pi’erre Bourne.
Early Life
Pi’erre Bourne grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. In addition to this, he spent summers with his grandmother in Queens, New York. During his time in New York, Pi’erre’s interest in East Coast Hip-Hop acts such as Dipset and G-Unit grew. Pi’erre began making beats on FL Studio on his uncle’s computer in elementary school. Bourne’s uncle was a rapper and graphic artist.
Upon graduating high school, Bourne went to college for graphic design but dropped out after a year to pursue music. At this time, his uncle encouraged Bourne to move to Atlanta. Due to this, Pi’erre attended the SAE Institute to study sound engineering. While in school, Bourne befriended DJ Burn One, and after graduating, the two worked at a recording studio as audio engineers. In 2015, Pi’erre worked as an engineer for Epic Records but left after a year to pursue his own career as a producer.
Solo Career & Collaborations With Playboi Carti
The year 2016 proved to be the beginning of Pi’erre’s breakout as an artist. In 2016, Pi’erre began producing for Trippie Redd and eventual long-time collaborator Young Nudy. Additionally, Bourne released three solo mixtapes, The Life of Pi’erre, The Life of Pi’erre 2, and The Life of Pi’erre 3. Bourne’s popularity would skyrocket after he met Playboi Carti.
Pi’erre met Playboi Carti in February 2017 and collaborated on the track “Woke Up Like This” featuring Lil Uzi Vert. Pi’erre produced more tracks on Carti’s debut self-titled album, including the hit “Magnolia.” The track peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to its commercial success, Pi’erre’s tagline on the song, “Yo Pierre, you want to come out here,” became its own viral sensation. The saying became an internet meme and a trademark attached to any Pi’erre beat.
Sli’merre, The Life of Pi’erre 4, & Collabs With Kanye West
With the success of “Magnolia,” Pi’erre’s talent as a producer was in high demand in 2017. That year, Pi’erre racked up production credits on 21 Savage’s Issa Album, Lil Yachty’s Teenage Emotions, Big Sean and Metro Boomin’s Double or Nothing, and Lil Uzi Vert’s Luv Is Rage 2. Pi’erre also produced 6ix9ine’s 2017 track “Gummo.” It charted at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Pi’erre another top hit along with “Magnolia.”
In 2018, Bourne once again collaborated with Playboi Carti on his second album Die Lit, as he produced the majority of the songs and featured as a rapper on two tracks from the album. Around this same time, Pi’erre would also begin his collaborations with Kanye West. Pi’erre co-produced the song “Yikes” from Kanye’s album Ye and the single “Watch,” which featured West and Travis Scott.
Pi’erre then released a full-length collaborative project with Young Nudy in May of 2019 titled Sli’merre. Bourne produced all twelve tracks on the project, which included features from Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Sli’merre was met with critical acclaim and released at No. 1 on Apple Music’s US All Genres Chart. It also peaked at No. 63 on the US Billboard Hot 200. Also in 2019, Pi’erre released his debut studio album, The Life of Pi’erre 4. The album featured Bourne’s production and rapper abilities and peaked at No. 107 on the US Billboard Hot 200.
Recent Success: Grammy Awards & No. 1 Producer In The World
In 2020, Pi’erre’s contributions to Hip-Hop continued. Bourne produced four songs on Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake and also produced Drake’s “Pain 1993,” which featured Playboi Carti. “Pain 1993” peaked at No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Because of this, Bourne debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Producer Chart in March 2020. In addition to this, Pi’erre would once again collaborate with Carti on his third album Whole Lotta Red, which was met with critical acclaim.
Pi’erre once again collaborated with Kanye West on his album Jesus is King. Bourne co-produced songs “On God” and “Use This Gospel.” For his contributions, Pi’erre won his first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album at the 2021 award ceremony. Bourne also released his second album, The Life of Pi’erre 5, in 2021, which peaked at No. 35 on the US Billboard Hot 200 charts. As with his previous album, Pi’erre produced the entire album and rapped on it as well.
Pi’erre’s success has continued to the present day, as he continues to contribute to some of the hottest tracks in Hip-Hop. Pi’erre also released his third album, Good Movie, in September 2022. He has also released two singles this year, “IG” and “Honeyberry 2.” Whether as a solo artist or producer, Pi’erre Bourne has cemented himself as one of the most influential and important artists of recent times.
While a lot of attention has been lavished on Rolling Loud as the premiere hip-hop-oriented festival (and rightly so), Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash, which takes place annually in the Chicago area, is quickly carving out a chunk of that regard for itself. It probably helps that Lyrical Lemonade is the brainchild of Cole Bennett and has produced music videos for just about every notable name in rap right now (as well as Jack Black, whose “Peaches” song from The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an inescapable earworm).
So it makes sense that the 2023 lineup for Summer Smash includes a great many of those notable names, including headliners Future, Kid Cudi, and Playboi Cart, along with “a very special Chicago guest” which probably means Chance The Rapper (or a hologram of Juice WRLD, you never know. As long as it ain’t Kanye). Meanwhile, the three-day festival — which takes place at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL on June 23-25 — also includes heavy hitters like Vince Staples, Ice Spice, GloRilla, Freddie Gibbs, Ski Mask The Slump God, G Herbo, Cordae, Juicy J, Trippie Redd, Lucki, Central Cee, Lil Skies, and Rico Nasty, and that’s just the top line of each of the three days.
Rolling Loud Miami is back, and this time, it is bringing its most diverse lineup yet. This year’s lineup is stacked with some of the best acts in hip-hop, but according to a release, Rolling Loud Miami is “branching out across the genre spectrum for the first time” and featuring artists who “don’t make rap music, but still bring a hip-hop ethos.”
