Honestly, this is a very solid effort all around. While Logic and Conway make sense, RiFF could have stuck out like a sore thumb on this cut. For Westside, he has been a tad less carefree. His sole album release was indeed his last. And Then You Pray For Me, was the follow-up to 2020’s Pray for Paris. Lil Baby has not been dropping the same quality in most people’s eyes since 2021, and especially 2020 with My Turn. The Atlanta, Georgia product still possesses great technical ability, but a fair amount believe he is dropping the same tracks with different titles. Over the past couple of months, Baby has been featured on some other artist’s singles. Just last Friday, December 8, he and French Montana collided on “Okay.”

In the middle of October, we saw him dip his toes into electronic with Flowdan and Skrillex on “Pepper.” That one did not bode well for Baby, as he mumbled his way through his verse. The last time we heard solo material from him was back in July with “Merch Madness.” However, he has just broken that streak.

Based on the sound of this track, he is going back to the trap sound. It harkens back to the Cath Carti era in some aspects. It has a more eerie, dreamy, and nocturnal element tone this time around.

Playboi Carti Changes Up His Sound Again With Secretive Track “Ur The Moon”

Playboi Carti is an artist who is known for neglecting to drop music. Overall, he ends up scrapping releases due to leaks. He may just be the most leaked artist in hip-hop right now. Ultimately, this is why Whole Lotta Red took so long to come out. As for his new album, it remains to be seen when he will drop. Although DJ Akademiks recently revealed the album would come out in January, no one actually knows for sure. However, Carti is definitely getting his fans’ hopes up thanks to a recent string of social media photo dumps.

Over the weekend, Carti surprised by fans by dropping a song and music video on his Finsta. The burner Instagram account is mostly private to fans, and only a few caught a glimpse of the track. Subsequently, a few days later, the video ended up on YouTube, and here we are. The track in question is called “Ur The Moon” and it features that new version of Carti in which he delivers a deep voice. In fact, even the production choice is a bit different for him. One might say there is a heavy hyperpop influence here.

Regardless, Carti does sound great on this song. He weaves through the beat quite nicely, and while this is a change of pace for him, he finds the pocket with ease. It seems like he wants to deviate from the punk-inspired bangers from Whole Lotta Red. Ultimately, this switch-up in sound may not be super interesting for some. However, to others, including his diehard fans, this has been a great new artistic focus. Only time will tell whether or not he stays with this sound. Furthermore, it still remains to be seen whether or not he actually drops his project.

Quando Rondo Drops Single “Cash” Amid Federal Drug Charges

Georgia rapper Quando Rondo is dealing with a lot of outside noise right now. Unfortunately, he could be serving up to two decades worth of prison time. On December 10, the 24-year-old rapper was originally arrested without incident. He was simply a passenger in a vehicle and was the only one in handcuffs by the FBI on federal drug charges.

A couple of days later, we learned more about the situation. Rondo was involved in conspiracy to possess and distribute various drugs. Those substances included marijuana, cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. The accusations date back to 2021 as well. So, it is safe to say Rondo is not in the best state now, but he did manage to get a track out today to sort of address all of it.
