Jay-Z And D’Angelo Announce New Song Coming This Week

Two legendary musicians from two different genres who don’t release music often are teaming up for a new single. The first is Jay-Z, whose last studio album 4:44 dropped in 2017. Hov hasn’t been completely silent since then though. The next year he teamed up with Beyonce as The Carters for a full collaborative album. Since then he’s popped up for a few notable features as well. He’s appeared on songs from Kanye West, Pusha T, Pharrell, and DJ Khaled since 2020.

The other artist is D’Angelo who has been far more reclusive. His last studio project is nearly a decade old. Black Messiah dropped in late 2014 and marked the R&B legend’s first new studio project since 2000’s Voodoo. Since then the only new song he’s released is a track called “Unshaken” which landed on the soundtrack for the video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Now D’Angelo and Jay-Z are coming together to collaborate on a brand new song. The track is called “I Want You Forever” and it’s also a collaboration with musician and filmmaker Jeymes Samuel. Samuel described the track as “nine minutes and 32 seconds of absolute soulful, biblical bliss.”

Jay-Z And D’Angelo’s New Song

The new song is landing on the soundtrack for the upcoming film The Book Of Clarence. It’s part of a full soundtrack Samuel is releasing alongside the film. Jay-Z and D’Angelo aren’t the only notable contributors to the soundtrack either. Doja Cat. Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Kodak Black, Jorja Smith, and more are set to feature on the soundtrack accompanying The Book Of Clarence. The full soundtrack is due out for release later this week.

Additionally over the weekend, Jay-Z took home an Emmy for his directing work on Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show. He’s become a bit of a staple of the category for Directing A Variety Special with his Super Bowl shows landing among the nominees every year. Jada Kingdom Keeps The Momentum Rolling With “What’s Up (Big Buddy)”

We can almost guarantee that no one saw Jada Kingdom having as big of a day as this. That is no slight to the Jamaican dancehall artist, though. She is ultra-talented in many ways. But, this out-of-nowhere beef with Stefflon Don has put her in the spotlight rapidly. This war of words with the UK dancehall mainstay has an unknown origin. But, some were considering that it could have something to do with their ex-boyfriend, Burna Boy. Jada and Stefflon both had their hands on him, but that is a fairly loose reason.

Jada Kingdom is now dating Pardison Fontaine and seems happy with the relationship so far. As we talked about earlier today, Stefflon got the beef started with her “Dat A Dat” single. Then, Jada followed up not too long after with “London Bed.” It seems she is feeling uber-confident because she is back with her second track of the day.

That Mexican OT Drops An Absolute Banger With “02.02.99”

Southern hip-hop always seems to produce some of the best bangers. Whether you like your hits chopped and screwed or dark and atmospheric, this subgenre has you covered. Someone who is bringing some fresh and eccentric cuts to the table is That Mexican OT. The 24-year-old rapper from Bay City Texas has been blowing up over the past few months.

What got people buzzing about him was his “Johnny Dang” single and music video. The track featured fellow Texas legend Paul Wall and gave many listeners a peek at what OT could bring. Simply put, it proved that he is here to stay. One thing you will notice right off the bat is how he raps. He loves to roll his “l’s and “r’s” and it adds a lot of character to his performances. OT is becoming one of rap’s beloved figures due to his charismatic personality as well.

That Mexican OT looks to build on a strong 2023 with an even better 2024. To some, he may need to prove that he is not a one-hit wonder. However, he might have put that to bed with his brand-new single. “02.02.99” is a straight raging banger. The beat is dark and stank-facing inducing. His bars are funny but also clever. Case and point, the first bar: “I ain’t f*** yo’ sister, b****, I’m just a motherf****r / Nah, I’m lyin’, I knocked her a** down too and we got in a lots of trouble, ugh.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “02.02.99,” by That Mexican OT? Is he becoming a star in the Southern hip-hop scene, or is he already one? Will this be a bigger hit than “Johnny Dang,” why or why not? Is his most recent album, Lonestar Luchador, still in your rotation? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Eem Triplin’s Signature Moody Tone Shines Through On “Stephanie”

Moody hip-hop is not a subgenre. But, if there is someone who could turn it into one, Eem Triplin could be one. The Johnstown, Pennsylvania rapper possesses a subdued and raspy flow that adds a unique element. Here at HNHH, we do not have much on file for the 22-year-old.

The last time we spoke about his music was in July of last year. Eem came through with his debut project, STILL PRETTY. It was a seven-song solo offering with his trademark style. He likes to dive into songs about relationships and that is what he is doing on his newest single.

On this track, he is thinking back on a recent relationship that was wrecked by infidelity. Triplin displays growth and discusses how he can move on from it.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “stephanie,” by Eem Triplin? Is this his best single in the past year or so, why or why not? Stefflon Don Fires Away At Jada Kingdom With “Dat A Dat”

Dancehall has provided us with some intoxicating rhythms for years. However, it seems it is becoming more popular by the day. It reaches new heights especially when two powerhouses are beefing for the whole music world to see it. That is true of Stefflon Don and Jada Kingdom. The UK native got the ball rolling with “Dat A Dat.” Both of these diss songs are exclusively available on YouTube and have each one is gaining traction online.

A report from Clash gave us a glimpse into why Stefflon Don decided to send some shots at Jada Kingdom. According to them, Jada and Stefflon’s ex, Burna Boy, were seen out in public and photographed. This is because Jada and Burna were also a thing for a little bit during the summer of last year. However, the Jamaican talent is now partnered up with rapper Pardison Fontaine, who was previously with Megan Thee Stallion.

So, since Jada and Stefflon are both separated from Burna for the most part, it is not clear why these two are beefing. About 12 hours later, Jada responded with “London Bed.” Both songs were produced by heavyweights as well. Rvssian got to work with Don, and Byron Messiah paired with Jada. More should unfold from this situation and we will provide you with updates when they come through.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single and diss track, “Dat A Dat,” by Stefflon Don? Who had the better song out of the two and why? Do you think this beef has something to do with their ex-boyfriend Burna Boy? If not, what do you think the origin of this is? Whose music do you listen to more often? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Jada Kingdom Continues The War Of Words With Stefflon Don On “London Bed” Diss Track

We have a new beef alert for 2024! Two of dancehall’s exciting voices, Jada Kingdom and Stefflon Don, are trading shots. It began with the latter dropping “Dat A Dat,” a song produced by Rvssian. According to The STAR, which is a popular Jamaican news source, was one of the first to report on this exchange. One of Don’s shots includes this one. “Dem man full a gyal like down a dovecot / You too beggy beggy you naa ambition.” There is not a whole of background information on why these two are clashing. However, Clash might have an explanation.

According to the news source, they mentioned that Jada Kingdom was pictured in public with Burna Boy. That happens to be Stefflon’s ex-partner. Coincidentally, Burna is also now getting tangled in this beef. All of this comes as quite a surprise though. Clash also explained that even though they had never been too close to one another, they were cool.

Perhaps more will come out on this. But, for now, we are munching on popcorn listening to Jada and Don spit aggressively. The STAR got some bars from “London Bed.” Jada raps, “Buss a move an meet mi anyweh, you coward like puss yu nu bad from noweh.” The publication reported that the only reason she responded was because of her “respect and for the culture.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single and diss track, “London Bed,” by Jada Kingdom? Is this the more ruthless diss compared to Stefflon Don’s “Dat A Dat?” Do you think this began when Jada was photographed with Stefflon’s ex, Burna Boy? Whose music do you listen to on a more regular basis? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Bryson Tiller Flows Effortlessly On New Soundcloud Single “Lost Intro”

One of the most beloved figures within the R&B space has to be Bryson Tiller. People who keep a closer eye on music know how the Louisville, Kentucky native got his start. It was an incredible one at that. In 2015 God Tiller came through with T R A P S O U L. The project was a great mixture of soulful and sexy R&B and impressive rapping. Bryson’s ability to spit may be his most underrated skill.

Now, he might not feel that way, because the 31-year-old artist just came through with a new Soundcloud exclusive track. “Lost Intro” features fantastic rhyming and breath control across the 1:41 runtime. The instrumental is fairly skeletal with rapid-fire hi-hats and a low-key drum pattern. Bryson Tiller has been active on the Soundcloud platform as of late. Back in August, he came through with SLUM TILLER VOL. 1 & 2, which was also a nice release for him.

It appears Bryson will continue to provide more and more material in the future. This “Lost Intro” is kicking off a weekly upload experiment that Bryson is going to try. He calls it “Tiller Tuesdays” and fans can expect a new song at midnight ET. We are certainly here for it. But, hopefully, we do get an album in the near future. His last true project was 2020’s A N N I V E R S A R Y.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single, “Lost Intro,” by Bryson Tiller? Do you think it is a good idea for him to drop a new track every Tuesday? Is he one of the more underrated R&B artists of the last 10 years? Should this weekly upload of tracks eventually land on other DSPs? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. Lil Nas X Is Living Up To Entering His Christian Era On Upcoming Single “J CHRIST”

Lil Nas X had one of the more dominant runs in music in the past several years from 2019-2021. His viral tracks such as “MONTERO” and “INDUSTRY BABY” had him constantly topping the charts. However, the past year and a half has been quiet for the Georgia native. In 2022, Nas X put out two singles. Those were “Late To Da Party (F*CK BET)” with NBA YoungBoy and “STAR WALKIN’.” The latter was a collaboration with the League of Legends video game.

Part of the reason for his lack of production is because Nas X feels he was “blackballed” from releasing in 2023. According to Billboard, it is because of “promoting God to the masses.” The latter of the comments were made late last week. Around the same time, Lil Nas said he was going to “expose the industry” and that he needed to “watch his back.”

In addition to all of those statements, the multi-talent made one last year. He claimed he was going to enter his “Christian era.” Well, he is living up to that promise it seems. According to Pitchfork the platinum recording artist revealed the cover art and release date for “J CHRIST.” “MY NEW SINGLE IS DEDICATED TO THE MAN WHO HAD THE GREATEST COMEBACK OF ALL TIME!” It will be out on Friday, January 12. Also according to Billboard, this track is rumored to be put out independently, and not through Columbia Records. Nas X is doing this because “[my label] gave me the choice of going independent to release my gospel music or staying with them.”

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single announcement by Lil Nas X? Will “J CHRIST” be his best song in the last couple of years? How do you feel about the rumors that this will have gospel inspiration? Does this mean that he is getting ready to drop an album this year? Fabolous Recaps Dubai Travels On New Single & Music Video, “OSHO Freestyle”: Stream

Fabolous“Freestyle Friday” series has been giving us heat for a while, and why would 2024 be any different? Moreover, he opened up the year with a new off-top song and music video, “OSHO Freestyle,” in which he recaps his Dubai travels in the visuals. The New York rapper starts the video with a phone call from his plane, and shows the lavish New Year’s celebrations and performances that he engaged in during his time there. Overall, it’s a pretty opulent cut with a thematic focus that centers it around his success and career moves after what many would argue is his peak. Fab’s still not slowing down after all these years, so the quality drop is practically nonexistent.

Furthermore, “OSHO Freestyle” uses what sounds like a dramatic and grand Middle Eastern sample to accentuate his surroundings in the music video. Perhaps that’s a misguided assumption, but the important part is that it fits incredibly well with Fabolous’ evolutionary flow. In addition, the hardened trap drums give this song a nice edge that he also displayed on recent “Freestyle Friday” entries like “Tuluminati.” That also saw the 46-year-old make a connection to his location, and we can’t complain about the results so far. As far as lyrical focus, there’s not much new here: luxury, skill, and the like.

Meanwhile, this comes amid claims from French Montana that his collaboration with Loso, “Ball Drop,” should have won a Grammy. It also follows previous freestyles, such as Drake’s Scary Hours 3 challenge, in which he was as lyrically sharp and charismatic as he’s ever been in his post-prime career. But with this new offering and many others, it’s clear that we can’t box Fabolous into a specific era in which he was top-tier; he’s just too good to do so. If you haven’t heard “OSHO Freestyle” yet, check out the music video above and some standout bars below. Also, as always, check back in with HNHH for more great hip-hop releases around the clock.

NBA YoungBoy Assists Tre Savage On New Song & Music Video “FYN”: Stream

Tre Savage is a new name in the game that just made a big splash with the new NBA YoungBoy-assisted single and music video “FYN” [F**k You, N***a]. Moreover, it’s a classic Southern-inspired and soulful trap beat on which Savage displays a lot of influence from the Baton Rouge native. In the track’s visuals on YouTube, a space that YB continues to dominate, they move through his Gravedigger Mountain property in Utah while on house arrest. However, it’s heartening to see that both MCs still perform with plenty of energy, charisma, and confidence for this record. With this, we think that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Tre’s output in 2024.

Furthermroe, “FYN” strikes a common balance in YoungBoy’s catalog: soulful instrumentation and samples with hardened trap drums. The claps, shuffles, hi-hats, percs, and kicks all sound crisp and infectiously groovy on this cut. In addition, they support dense electric bass, woozy guitar chords, some key arrangements, and even an organ thrown in there. Not only that, but Tre Savage comes through with some impactful lines, combative boasting, and a hardened delivery. It’s been great to see the I Rest My Case spitter collab with more artists, as he’s apparently working with the one and only B.G. soon.

Meanwhile, this new cut follows a lot of recent press for YoungBoy, during which he spoke a lot about his current state, career, and legal troubles. Another important topic during recent interviews is his relationship with substances, something that he hopes to improve upon moving forward. This move to support a burgeoning artist and show him the ropes is a win-win situation, and hopefully we get many more of those in 2024.
