Mary J Blige Teams Up With Fabolous For A Throwback Style Single, “Breathing”

Mary J Blige possesses a timeless voice and is also a true leader of blending hip-hop and soul together. Additionally, you cannot forget her copious number of hit tracks and successful albums. All of these things got her into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year. After notching this feather in her cap, she expressed how much this recognition meant to her. “I’m still trying to process this whole thing. It’s a big deal. I’m just so grateful because I know it didn’t have to be this way, but it is this way, and I give all the credit to God. I don’t even know what else to do. It’s just so humbling,” the performer explained. “I don’t know what to do besides be grateful and thankful”.

However, it seems that Mary J Blige isn’t just okay with this major career milestone. At some point later this year, the New York balladeer is going to release a new album, which also may be her last. She dropped this bombshell on People in late April and while “it’s probably [her] last”, she says she’s been enjoying the process. “I’m actually in the studio right now recording more music, and I’m having fun. I’m having fun no matter what happens”. It looks like one of those “fun” studio sessions produced “Breathing”, a classic Mary J Blige record that also features Fabolous. You can check out the grand and uplifiting single with the music video link below.

Lil Yachty & Veeze Are Unapologetic On “Sorry Not Sorry”

It seems that every weekend Lil Yachty has a new single out and this time around it’s called “Sorry Not Sorry”. The track enlists the gravelly-voiced rapper from Detroit, Veeze. These two vastly different MCs are no strangers to each other. A lot of their past collaborations stem from the Georgia multi-hyphenate’s 2021 record, Michigan Boy Boat. That project saw Lil Boat try his hand at the Detroit rap style, all while working alongside plenty of names from the area. BabyTron, Sada Baby, Icewear Vezzo, Tee Grizzley, and of course, Veeze. They worked on two songs together, including “Fight Night Round 3” and the closer, “This That One”.

However, Veeze was not nearly as popular as he is now. 2023 was his breakout year, dropping Ganger and its subsequent deluxe four months after the original version. Now, after increasing popularity and trying out different sounds, these guys are reconvening on “Sorry Not Sorry”. Yachty has decided to release this in a three-pack format by including past singles such as his viral collab with ian, “Hate Me”, and “Lets Get On Dey A**”. Whether or not the Bad Cameo is working on another new project remains to be seen. For now, though, he is at least giving us this unapologetically braggadocious single. You can check it out with the Lyrical Lemonade-produced music video below.

Big Sean Skates Over Soulful Beat From The Alchemist On “Together Forever”

Big Sean has been one of the biggest leak victims this year, especially since it has affected the release of his upcoming album. Better Me Than You was slated to hit DSPs last Friday, August 9. Now, we should be receiving the new body work hopefully by the end of the month. If not then, we could also be looking at an early September date as well. The Detroit MC has been handling all of this very well given the circumstances, which you have to commend him for. He revealed he’s in the process of planning some shows immediately after the album drops, so he’s really trying to give fans a lot during this album rollout. In the meantime, though, Big Sean is tiding fans over with “Together Forever”, which brings the single total to four.

It seems that Sean Don is leaning into themes of family, relationships, self-confidence, and living a fulfilling life for this record. Overall, it seems like this project could be one of his best yet, because “Together Forever” is another W in our books. Here, Big Sean is reuniting with the mad scientist himself, The Alchemist. The acclaimed producer has worked with him once before on the Larry June-led cut, “Palisades, CA”. The West Coast native gives the Michigan technician a jazzy, soulful, and head-nodding boom-bap beat, which he floats on. Below, you can check out the song and its accompanying visuals. On top of this heater, Sean seems to tease another track from the album with a darker approach and it may feature some rapping from Uncle Al, so fingers crossed.

Kwazii Tries To Fix A Broken Relationship On “Full Circle”

Kwazii is someone who we have been shedding some light on as of recent. The artist hails from just up north in great country of Canada and he has the ability to sing and rap. In some respects, he takes some cues from the likes of his more popular contemporaries from his hometown such as Drake, Tory Lanez, and PARTYNEXTDOOR. He really is a dual threat that is looking to make some noise with each release, and to be honest, he’s doing just that. His last three singles, all of which are promoting his forthcoming mixtape, I Was Perfect To Someone, are pulling in good numbers. In fact, all of them hold the top three spots in his top 10 popular releases on his Spotify.

As for Kwazii’s newest track, it’s called “Full Circle”. It’s clear that he is going to be focusing on themes of relationships and their complexities. The focus of “Full Circle” sees Kwazii painfully and annoyingly deal with a woman who’s constantly playing games and gaslighting him. He’s trying to put in the effort to fix their problems, however, she’s not willing to do the same. “You normalizing the things I just can’t do / You stubborn got me praying tryna break through / I tried a thousand ways nothing changed you“. You can check out the new track with the link below. As for when I Was Perfect To Someone will be out, you’ll have to wait until September 20.

Bruiser Wolf Unexpectedly Collabs With Producer F1LTHY For “Rope Chain” Single

Bruiser Wolf is one of the more interesting characters you are going to encounter in the hip-hop world today. He features a truly one-of-a-kind delivery on top of zig-zagging flows and wild bars. It makes that sense that Detroit underground legend Danny Brown would sign him to his recent Bruiser Brigade record label. All of Bruiser’s albums, two to be exact, are under that roof. Dope Game Stupid would be his debut in 2021 with his sophmore effort arriving earlier this year. My Story Got Stories would include features from Danny, Zelooperz, Trinidad James, and more. His 2023 was also eventful thanks to a feature on Brown’s standout return project Quaranta. But for 2024, Bruiser Wolf is looking to keep his momentum going with “Rope Chain”.

This is his second release post My Story Got Stories, with “Brick Up” back in March being the previous offering. Bruiser Wolf began to tease “Rope Chain” just over a week ago on his social media pages and fans were pretty ecstatic to get it. That excitement partially stems from the fact that he got producer F1LTHY for this record. “Bruh what in the hell is this gonna sound like”, one user replied to the IG announcement. “WTF IS THIS COLLAB????? IM HERE FOR IT😭”, another added. F1LTHY is known for his extensive work with artists such as Playboi Carti, and even others like Drake, Lil Yachty, and more. Pit his wavy and atmospheric production up against Bruiser’s zany style and you have a truly interesting combo. You can hear what they cooked up on “Rope Chain” with the audio link below.

BigXthaplug Releases Prideful New Single “The Largest”

2024 XXL Freshman and Dallas, Texas native BigXthaplug is definitely someone to keep your eyes on moving forward. There are certainly a few others that standout from this latest “graduating” class so to speak such as BossMan Dlow, That Mexican OT, and ScarLip. But with an instantly recognizable voice that he can be heard from miles away and a great ear for beats, BigX is going to be one of the topflight names. He really made a name for himself last year with two projects, AMAR and THE BIGGEST. Both of them have successful tracks such as “Texas”, “Levels”, “Mmhmm”, “Climate” with Offset, and more. Additionally, BigX showed what he could do with a more country-like beat on the Shaboozey collaboration, “Drink Don’t Need No Mix”.

That song is helping the new country superstar’s new project, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, do well on the charts. On top of the XXL nod and this massive single, BigXthaplug hasn’t been up to much solo wise. He teamed up with Ro$ama and 600 Ent. for the short team effort tape MEET THE 6IXERS back in May. That’s the closest he’s been to dropping anything for his own catalog. However, that has come to an end as of this weekend with “The Largest”. Produced by his frequent producer pal BandPlay, BigX raps about how far he’s come thanks to all of these aforementioned accomplishments we listed off.

On the second verse though, he gets even more braggadocious and prideful. “I just got off a tour, finna go on another one / Album dumb, finna drop me another one / Couple of Ms, finna run up another one / Super Bowl rings, s***, I had to go double ’em“. Check out the new BigX single with the link below.

Erica Banks Doesn’t Want To Hear The Hate On “H*e Please”

Erica Banks may be the most confident femcee in the game today. It seems that every track she puts out sees her quieting the haters in some capacity. In this case, Erica Banks is tired of hearing the chatter around her abilities to make it in music on “H*e Please”. Additionally, she’s calling out all the fake rapper’s out there who really have little to no talent. “Where you at b****? Come and start yo verse / He lookin at da p**** that ain’t art that’s thirst“. This could certainly be a controversial set of bars to some people. That is especially true for the people out there who think she’s diminishing her value by continuing to get work done on her rear end. That certainly still is a major talking point around Erica, and it will probably never stop.

For Erica Banks, “H*e Please” looks to be a single for her forthcoming EP, Cocky On Purpose 2. According to the press release for this track, there is no release date for the tape available just yet. All we know is that it’s coming later this year. There’s a good chance that this record is the fourth teaser, as “I Ain’t Fresh”, “ON HIS FACE”, and “Extra” are the only other songs to be put on her DSP pages. The Texas native has put out a host of freestyles over previous big-name instrumentals. But a lot of them remain on YouTube only. Speaking of samples, “H*e Please” is another track that flips a classic. Here, Erica takes the piano key melody from The Game and 50 Cent’s “How We Do” and makes pretty light work of it. Give the new single a spin below.

Trippie Redd Continues To Tease His Next Album With “LGLG”

Trippie Redd has not been in his prime according to a lot of listeners. Obviously, a great deal of his fans are going to defend their Canton, Ohio MC star, but we can see where the former camp is coming from. His last few projects, MANSION MUSIK, A Love Letter To You 5, and Saint Michael V2, seem to have come and went. Furthermore, his collaborative record with mgk, genre : sadboy, was another disappointment thanks to its blandness. On top of that, some of his recent singles, especially “LWRW”, just feel lazy.

However, Trippie seemed to redeem himself a little bit with “Bando Kid”, the follow-up to the aforementioned track. It’s also the second single for the upcoming sequel LP to his debut album LIFE’S A TRIP 2. It saw the “Miss The Rage” artist lean into that heavy metal sound and the effort level was clearly raised in our opinion. Now, Trippie Redd is looking to carry that momentum into “LGLG”. On this record, it feels he went back to the basics. For him, that means a catchy and repetitive chorus mixed with some dark lyricism and production. For some reason that method on “LWRW” came across as annoying, but not here. Trippie even tries his hand at interpolating Playboi Carti’s deep voice, as well as Travis Scott’s recent growling he’s been messing with. Overall, it’s a decent effort but let us know what you think below.

Toosii Gets Vulnerable On New Single “Fuk You Mean”

It’s no secret that Toosii has come a long way since his quick rise to fame, and evidently, he only continues to grow and evolve. Fans have been begging for a new album ever since the release of Naujour in 2023. While it remains to be seen whether or not their wishes will be granted anytime soon, the New York-born performer recently delivered the next best thing, a brand-new single. “Fuk You Mean” arrived late last week, and already, his fans can’t get enough.

On the somber, mellow track, Toosii sings about giving his all to someone that he’s pursuing, spending money on luxurious designer items simply to impress them. Sadly, he just ends up disappointed in the end, when he finally realizes their true intentions. The song features heartfelt and vulnerable lyrics, falling in line with his last single “Where You Been,” which he dropped back in June. It’s unclear if the tracks will eventually become part of a larger project, but fans certainly hope so. They’re currently flooding his comments section with demands for a full-length album, and urging him to go back on tour.

What do you think of Toosii’s new track? Will you be adding “Fuk You Mean” to your summer playlist or not? Are you looking forward to seeing what he does next? Do you hope he drops another album sometime soon? Share your thoughts in the comments section and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates. Check out the new track down below.

Ray Vaughn Is Prepared For The Beef On Fiery New Single, “Ray Wop”

The West Coast is up in 2024, and it seems like we have a new reason to celebrate Cali every single week… Which means we’ve been eating good. Moreover, Ray Vaughn just delivered the latest bouncy banger with his new single “Ray Wop,” and it’s just as bouncy and grimy as you’d hope for. Also, this follows his two previous singles, the much more reflective and measured “Supposed To Die” and “Black Jesus,” and it’s great to hear him showing off more versatility and variety in this new era.

TDE’s newest star, who previously dropped heaters like “Blasphemy” and even got a Pusha T cosign on “Problems,” is absolutely relentless on this new cut. “Ray Wop” sees him engage in classic West Coast flows with a lot of aggression, confidence, and personality. Ray Vaughn weaves in more melodic moments here too, bolstered by woozy key embellishments that add to the dramatic string sample and gritty Cali percussion. As far as the lyrical content, the verses here are charismatic, boastful, clever, and vividly creative when it comes to his phrasing.

Furthermore, we’ll see what else the “Sandcastles” spitter has in store for us this year, and we hope it arrives sooner rather than later. Still, if you haven’t heard Ray Vaughn’s “Ray Wop” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or check out the music video on YouTube below. In addition, find some standout bars further down and let us know what you thought of the track down in the comments section.
