Jill Scott Praises Chris Brown, Responds To Fans Pointing Out His Abusive History

Much of Chris Brown’s allegedly abusive history against women is just that: accusations. However, given that he pled guilty to assaulting Rihanna 15 years ago and the testimonies from his former partners and the media, he has always dealt with folks writing him off due to this past. Granted, the Virginia native has always been quite aggressive in responding to these narratives, and it’s overall a very complicated web. Moreover, a lot of this is popping back up in the trending topics because of a recent tweet from multi-hyphenate Jill Scott praising Breezy. She responded to many folks online on Sunday (April 21) who offered their criticisms, support, or other comments about the matter.

“@chrisbrown is amazing,” Jill Scott wrote of Chris Brown on the social media platform. “How does ANYBODY sing like THAT? Dance, look, Act and Rap… like THAT? Beyond gifted. It appears, exceptional people have to go through exceptional [fire emoji]. There’s nothing to debate.” “I think the women he’s abused would disagree,” one user posited. “I doubt it,” Scott replied. “My Mother’s ex husband was a mean, violent human AND he could lay foundation better than anyone in my city. What he did with cement was awe inspiring. We got away. He got a raise and praise for his ability. God dealt with the rest.”

Jill Scott’s Praise Of Chris Brown

“I love you Jill but he has so many domestic abuses cases it’s ridiculous we can’t look past that,” another fan replied. “I love you too,” Jill Scott responded. “I’m not here to fight anymore else’s battles. If/since women hear the stories, they should avoid that street. Running backwards in moving traffic makes zero sense. Therapy for every damn body.” “Yes he is, but that diss track [against Quavo] was too personal. He went too low,” one fan brought up, changing the topic real quick. “I agree,” she wrote in response.

Some Of Scott’s Responses To Fans, Plus Other Reactions

Meanwhile, what do you think about this situation? Has the 11:11 artist already done everything he needed to atone for his actions or does he still perpetuate this abhorrent behavior? Wherever you fall on that scale, let us know in the comments section below. Also, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Jill Scott and Chris Brown.

Sheff G Released From Prison After Posting Bond

Sheff G returned to Instagram on Sunday (April 21) to share some heartening news for fans: following a gun possession case and an indictment against him, Sleepy Hallow, and many others on gang allegations, he is now once again a free man. “10 MILL BOND , 1.5 MILL CASH BAIL WAS THE TICKET‼,” he captioned his post. “BAIL PAID SAME DAY ARE YOU DUMB, SHEFF G BACK‼ NEW YORK. WE FUCKING LITTTTT THEY COUNTED ME OUT!! THEY THOUGHT I WAS DONE , PEACE AND LOVE TO YALL LOL. ( WINNERSCIRCLE IM W THE STARS BABY. YOU CAN COME AND EAT W US YOU AINT GOTTA STARVEE BABYYYYYYY #FREETHEGUYZ #BAILOUTBOYZZZZZ.”

Furthermore, the Flatbush drill MC also posted some proof of all this with some screenshots that attested to his $10 million bond and $1.5 million cash bail, posted the same day. In addition, this post also included some videos of his return, which see him in very good spirits all things considered. Overall, it’s heartening to see that Sheff G overcame this part of his life and career at least for now, and hopefully he and his associates stay out of trouble. This is true especially for other rappers, as he recently squashed beef with Nas EBK and Smooky MarGielaa, even performing together at Rikers.

Of course, Sheff G unfortunately faced a lot of accusations about his alleged involvement in gang activity. This is an issue that many folks historically attributed to New York drill, a scene that also has a tough time receiving the proper support and guidance due to this bias. Regardless, it’s unfortunately not something exclusive to rap. Some major changes well beyond the scope of music are necessary to improve the city’s socioeconomic conditions, incentivize good behavior, defend their freedom of speech, and prevent harm and violence as much as possible.

Meanwhile, this release follows that of Sleepy Hallow last year, one that Sheff anticipated by promising his own very soon after. After 14 months, that promise finally came true. We’ll see what these returns to the rap game and to everyday life look like moving forward, and wish them the best path possible. For more news and the latest updates on Sheff G, log back into HNHH.

Kanye West Heats Rap’s Civil War Up… Or Does He? Fans React To “Like That” Remix

Kanye West’s “Like That” remix has added another explosive layer to the 20v1 between Kendrick Lamar, some company, and Drake. Of course, fans went absolutely wild with reactions to all this online, with some praising Ye for his verse and for his shots at Cole and Drake and others not being so impressed. Here are some opposing examples to set the stage a little bit. One common sentiment can be summed up with this tweet: “One thing ‘bout Kanye… he’s gonna insert himself in a situation that doesn’t involve him,” a fan wrote. Another took a different stance: “Hate all y’all want! Ye is a monster! This diss was fire!!!”

However, many of the positive reactions to this whole situation center around Ye’s involvement in the first place, and less so about the bar work or the shots themselves. For those unaware, Kanye West took aim at Drake’s UMG deal, and said that playing J. Cole… well, let’s just say he isn’t playing his music for his wife Bianca Censori anytime soon. While some people thought these were valid shots, others took issue with this particular bar: “I can’t even think of a Drake line.” This is because of the Toronto superstar and the Chicago creative’s history of working together in the past, and how the former wrote the chorus of “Yikes” for the latter without receiving any credit.

Kanye West’s “Like That” Remix: Listen

In addition, many folks thought that this was just a poor-quality or straight-up bad move for Kanye West in the long run, ultimately proving Drake’s point about everyone having to unite to beat him. Still, there’s one person who is notably absent from many of these discussions, and the one that really ignited this in the first place: Kendrick Lamar. No one really knows the dynamics of how “Like That” came about in the first place, but he’s kept quiet in the overwhelming aftermath of it. K.Dot’s silence might indicate he’s working on a bomb, it could threaten his place on the throne, or it’s proof that he’s the only one who really has the confidence and security to ignore the game’s uproar over one effective verse… again. Your call. On that note, check out some “Like That” remix reactions down below.

Furthermore, we want to know what you think of this version and of everything else going on with this beef. Do you think The Boy will keep the same mocking troll tone that he’s utilized ever since “Push Ups”? Only time will tell, but we’ve all got a shot at manifesting the truth with our predictions. Offset & Clubgoer Get Into Wild Fight Over Thrown Cash: Watch

Lately, it’s appeared as though Offset has been working hard at putting his best foot forward. Last month, for example, he stopped by a high school in Baltimore to hand out groceries. A couple of weeks later, he surprised some Detroit students with a personal meet and greet. Overall, it’s clear that he has a good heart and is eager to give back. With that being said, he also doesn’t tolerate any disrespect, as evidenced by his infamous 2020 takedown of a strip club attendee who sprayed Cardi B with champagne.

Unfortunately, the former Migos member once again found himself at the center of a fight this weekend, though exactly what prompted it is still unconfirmed. In a clip making its rounds online, Offset is seen onstage at a club, seemingly making his exit. As he walks away, someone in the crowd showers him with cash, and he quickly turns back around.

Offset Makes It Rain In A Bad Way

Offset then makes his way across the stage towards the person who threw the money and attempts to grab a hold of them. Luckily, it seems like security intervened just in the nick of time, preventing things from escalating too much further. Offset and the unspecified individual then threw money at each other for a while before being told to “relax.”

Now, social media users are speculating exactly why the fight started in the first place, and most can agree that the thrown cash was to blame. It’s suspected that Offset could have perceived it as an insinuation that he’s broke, or just became annoyed with all the flexing. What do you think of Offset getting heated onstage at a club recently? Are you surprised? What do you think prompted his reaction? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Tyler The Creator Speaks On Frank Ocean’s Elusive Nature During Coachella Set

Someone tell Frank Ocean to call Tyler The Creator, because it seems like he’s been lost for a long time. Ironically enough, among his last notable “public” appearances arrived on T’s 2021 album CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST for the outro of the track “LEMONHEAD” with 42 Dugg, on which he provided some spoken word. Needless to say, the Blonde crooner has had fans demanding a new album (or anything, at this point), for years now. It’s a notorious choice that his former Odd Future partner commented on during his Week Two set at Coachella on Saturday (April 20) following an incredible Week One showing.

“Y’all know this song?” Tyler, The Creator asked the crowd as the instrumental for his 2011 Goblin collab with Frank Ocean, “She,” played in the background. “Oh, sing the song, ’cause this n***a not coming out. We don’t… We don’t know where that n***a is, so… It’s on y’all. You know it?” Considering the special guests that T brought out last weekend (Childish Gambino, A$AP Rocky, Kali Uchis, and Charlie Wilson), plus Frank’s own controversial Coachella performance last year, many fans had hoped that this could be a big moment.

Tyler The Creator Doesn’t Know Where Frank Ocean Is, And Neither Does Anyone, Apparently

But at the end of the day, no one should be complaining about any of this. Frank Ocean didn’t suddenly disappear as a chronically online artist in the first place, and even though his absence definitely hits hard and receives legitimate qualms from his die-hards, who can really blame him for avoiding the spotlight as one of the best (and therefore most under-pressure and sought-after) artists today? As for Tyler, The Creator, who had mentioned using up all his phone calls for Week One, he did bring out another OF alum much to the crowd’s delight: Earl Sweatshirt. They performed their 2009 Bastard collab “A**Milk,” the first live performance of this track since 2014, and the 2013 Wolf standout “Rusty.” It was a very wholesome moment between two longtime friends.

“EarlWolf” Pops Out For Coachella Week Two: Watch

“My motherf***ing brother,” the “CORSO” MC said of Earl. “Y’all n***as don’t know. I love this guy so f***ing much.” Considering how close and proud much of Odd Future seems to be to this day, we’re sure they have similar words for Frank, as well. For (hopefully) more news on Frank Ocean and the latest updates on Tyler, The Creator, come back to HNHH.

Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” Inspires New Documentary, “Call Me Country”

Beyonce’s new country album, Cowboy Carter, and its impact on the genre will be the focus of an upcoming documentary from CNN FlashDocs titled, Call Me Country. The production is expected to be available later this month, according to The Tennessean. John and T.J. Osborne of Brothers Osborne, Rissi Palmer, Aaron Vance, and Denitia will all sit down for interviews during the piece.

“Beyoncé’s highly anticipated album Cowboy Carter, released March 29, arrived during a revolution within country music as the latest arena of the culture wars in America,” Warner Brothers Discovery said in a statement as noted by HipHopDX. “Some in the industry are welcoming more diverse artists, while others stick to a much narrower view of a genre that predominately centers around straight, white men.”

Beyonce Attends iHeartRadio Music Awards

Despite ample praise for Beyonce’s newest effort, several voices have derided the project publically. Most recently, Courtney Love admitted she didn’t like the album during an interview with Standard. “I like the idea of Beyonce doing a country record because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed, not that I like it much. As a concept, I love it. I just don’t like her music,” the Hole singer explained. Before that, Azaelia Banks made headlines for criticizing Beyonce’s project. “Sis, I live for Whiteyonce Donatella Bianca Bardot DOWN, but I’m kind of ashamed at how [you] switch from Baobab trees and Black Parade to this literal pick me stuff,” she wrote on Instagram back in March.

Cowboy Carter debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with 407,000 album-equivalent units, after releasing on March 29. Country legends Dolly Parton, Linda Martell, and Willie Nelson appear on the project. Be on the lookout for further updates on Beyonce on HotNewHipHop.
