Chilli Responds To Usher Over Rejected Marriage Proposal: Report

Usher’s recent interview with PEOPLE, published Thursday (February 15), saw him reflect on the heartbreak of TLC signer Chilli turning down his hand for marriage after years of dating back in 2004. However, according to the outlet’s reportedly close source to her, she doesn’t really see it as that big of a deal. Moreover, the publication claimed via this alleged source that the 52-year-old vocalist “is unbothered by the recent hoopla involving her past relationship.” It’s unclear exactly what that means, and whether or not the Super Bowl halftime performer should feel good or bad about that statement, but it seems like it’s all just a thing of the past and doesn’t warrant any old wounds opening back up.

“I was her number one fan, and she was my superstar,” Usher told PEOPLE. “At the age of 8, I put her poster on my wall and said, ‘Man, that girl is so beautiful. One day, I’m going to meet her.’ I was a young man, and she had very specific rules that didn’t work for me. We were missing each other.

“I really did want to have a different type of relationship where she was there with me, and she couldn’t be,” Usher continued. “She didn’t believe that I was actually in love with her as much as I was. I wanted to marry her, I proposed. She said to me, ‘No.’ I went through a great deal of pain after that. Not trusting women or wanting to open up. I hurt her too, but the situation broke my heart.” However, it’s not the only past flame that came up in the Confessions star’s life recently. His ex Tameka Foster pulled up to his halftime show last Sunday in support of his spectacle.

Usher has a lot to celebrate these days: a new album, a Super Bowl halftime show, a new wife, and so much more. He recently spoke to PEOPLE for a cover story to unpack much of this, and also to look back on his legendary career and notable life trajectory leading up to this point. Moreover, the Dallas native might be in a pretty great place right now, but it wasn’t always like this, especially back when he was young and in love. During this interview, he reflected on his three-year-long relationship with TLC’s Chilli, who broke his heart when she rejected his marriage proposal.

For example, upon his return to Atlanta, he got the city’s Phoenix Award for his service to it, got a spot of the Black Entertainment and Music Walk of Fame, and Fulton County recognized February 14 as “Usher Day.” “Atlanta is a city of belief,” he remarked during the award ceremony. “Atlanta is a city that allowed me to be that Phoenix to rise. It is a city that has allowed me to have the tenacity to go out and share this culture that I found when I was here.”

Usher shared a series of pictures from his wedding with Jennifer Goicoechea on Instagram, on Wednesday. The two exchanged vows in a surprise ceremony in Las Vegas after his performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show. A representative confirmed the news to PEOPLE afterward.

“We can confirm that Usher and Jennifer Goicoechea took the next step in their relationship and did get married on Sunday night in Las Vegas surrounded by close friends and family,” a representative told the outlet. “They both look forward to continuing to raise their children together surrounded by love and thank everyone for the well wishes.”

They got married at Vegas Weddings’ drive-thru tunnel, The Fast Lane. Usher rocked an extravagant black and white tuxedo while Goicoechea wore a white, off-the-shoulder pantsuit with matching designer glasses. Captioning the pictures on Instagram, he wrote: “One of them Ones.” Fans shared plenty of supportive messages in the comments section. “Congratulations!! This is truly your era! May God bless your union. I pray for a happy, successful, prosperous marriage,” one user wrote. Another added: “Love this!!! During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club Killer Mike brought up the topic of marriage. While on the show he revealed that he thinks it’s important for black men to marry black women. He elaborates that he nobody else will understand him, his struggles, and the context of his life the way a black woman does. At the time it was unclear whether the license had actually been filled out and filed, but now that’s cleared up. In case you didn’t know, Usher was in Las Vegas this weekend. The R&B legend took one of the biggest stages in music on Sunday when he performed during the Super Bowl halftime show. He unpacked a series of hits during a 13-minute show right in the middle of an exciting football game. After his performance the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers played an exciting second half that even went into overtime. Chiefs fans and Swifties alike celebrated when the team scored an overtime touchdown to win the game.

But Usher himself had a pretty busy weekend. It started off with the release of his new album Coming Home on Friday. The project represented his first new release since 2018 and his first new solo project since 2016. He’s also taking it on tour later this year and has been dropping more and more tour dates throughout the weekend. Unfortunately for fans trying to get a hold of tickets, Ticketmaster seemingly had a rough time handling the drop. Fans were met with long queues, sold out tickets, and exorbitant prices while trying to secure their spot to see the “Yeah” hitmaker. Despite his busy schedule, he managed to find some time to get himself a marriage license.

Everybody is talking about Donald Glover’s new series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The entire series dropped on Prime Video last week to rave reviews from critics and Glover has been making the rounds with a series of interviews to promote the project. In one interview with Complex earlier this week he revealed that he still sees Kanye West as hit GOAT rapper. He explained that despite the controversy none of the contemporary rappers around today would exist without West.

But it was actually an interview with his co-star Maya Erskine where an even bigger story was first tipped off. She said that Glover actually got married during the show, something he was asked about directly in an interview of his own. “Yeah. There was a day where I don’t think we had to be on set until noon or 1, so, I was like, ‘Can we get married today?’ I got married in the morning. We had a real wedding afterwards, too,” he revealed. Fans who have been following Glover for a while know that he’s said in the past that he doesn’t believe in marriage, so he also had to answer questions about what changed his mind.

Glover elaborated on what made him decide to finally get married. “What happened was, well, number one, I didn’t know what I was getting out of it. I felt like I knew what she was getting out of it, and I didn’t feel like she was being honest, necessarily, about what she was getting out of it. I was thinking about it in such a silly way, which I see now. Now I realize, yeah, maybe she’s gaining some stuff, but she’s also losing a lot of stuff,” he continued.

“We eventually had an honest talk and she was like, ‘I’m a traditional woman.’ And when she said that, some part of me was like, ‘And I want to help you be that.’ Whatever she needs me to be, that makes me happy. Jada had claimed that, despite her candid admissions about her marriage to Will in the book, Worthy, they’d be staying together while promoting the release. “The truth of the matter is I’m not leaving Will’s side and he’s not going to leave mine. Boosie Badazz Reveals Marriage Plans During Court Appearance

It’s no secret that Boosie Badazz has had his fair share of legal drama, but it looks like the rapper won’t be letting it get in the way of love. Last week, the Louisiana native appeared in court via phone for his ongoing felony gun possession case. During the appearance, he asked the judge to modify the conditions of his bond to allow him to see his fiancée, who he’s been apart from since June of 2023.

“We vehemently oppose that,” Attorney Michael Wheat said of Boosie’s request. According to Wheat, authorities don’t want Boosie making contact with his wife-to-be due to security concerns. His fiancée wasn’t a witness in the case, or even in the same state as Boosie during his arrest. Wheat failed to share more information about the specific concerns initially, leading Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo to call the no-contact order a “serious curtailment of [Boosie’s] rights.” After a lengthy sidebar conversation with Wheat, however, the judge decided to impose another 60 days of the order.

It appears as though Boosie will have to wait a bit longer to be reunited with his fiancée. Luckily, he’ll be free to see her as much as he wants after the 60 days are up, as long as the government doesn’t raise any more objections. During the hearing, Boosie asked the judge whether or not the no-contact order should impact his plans to get married in April of 2024. “Me and my fiancée was having a wedding,” he announced. “Do I need to set it back?”

Hulk Hogan’s Daughter Reveals Secret Marriage To Hockey Player

Brooke Hogan, the daughter of Hulk Hogan, has revealed that she has been secretly married to hockey player Steven Olesky for over a year. The two wed in a private ceremony last June and held a reception with Olesky’s family in Michigan earlier in December. Olesky played four seasons in the NHL and last played in the EHCL during the 2021/22 season. The pair reportedly met through mutual friends.

Brooke runs an interior design firm in Nashville and released a single, “Don’t Know It Yet”, earlier this year. TMZ released an exclusive report on the marriage, including a sweet shot from the couple’s wedding day. Congratulations to Brooke and Steven.

However, it’s not the only marriage to come out of the Hogan family this year. The Hulkster himself married his partner, Sky Daily, two months after the pair announced their engagement. The pair wed in front of a small gathering of family at the Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Clearwater this past Friday. Daily looked radiant in a sleeveless, strapless dress courtesy of Rue de Seine. Meanwhile, Hogan was dressed to the nines in a sharp tuxedo, though he did add an iconic bandana to the mix.

It’s Hogan’s third marriage and Daily’s second. However, Daily has been very candid about just how special Hogan makes her feel. “I wasn’t allowed to watch a lot of TV growing up. I knew who Hulk Hogan was obviously, but I hadn’t seen any of his fights or watched any wrestling. But I think he liked the fact that he had to ask me for my number as opposed to everyone else just jamming their number into his hand. He knew I was interested in Terry, not Hulk. He swept me off my feet and he is my ultimate male. I’ve never been with someone who puts me first in every single thing. When I wake up in the morning he’s there ready to hand me my coffee,” Daily told the Daily Mail back in July.
