Adidas Wins Class Action Lawsuit Involving Kanye West’s Antisemitic Comments & More

It appears that Adidas is coming out with a pretty major win in court. According to an exclusive piece from AllHipHop, the sneaker and apparel giant is avoiding potentially hefty lawsuit from company investors. This legal battle has been going on for over a year now and it stems Adidas not voicing the internal concerns about Kanye West to the public. The HRSA-ILA were the ones responsible for filing the suit and they felt that the German shoe company was specifically keeping Ye’s conduct under wraps from 2013-2018. Overall, Adidas won this lawsuit thanks to there not be enough solid evidence “showing misleading statements that could have swayed investor choices”.

“Certainly, that Ye allegedly engaged in such behavior while working with adidas is troubling. This Court does not condone what Ye allegedly did. But the question before this Court is not whether to admonish Ye or hold Adidas morally accountable for Ye’s conduct”, Judge Karin J. Immergut said. Later, she went on to question, “This Court is faced with a precise legal question: has [HRSA-ILA Funds] sufficiently pleaded facts showing that Adidas misled investors and thereby committed federal securities fraud? On the current record before this Court, the answer is no”.

The HRSA-ILA was a firm believer that Adidas knew about how ugly this partnership could have gone with Kanye West since 2013. If you remember, there were some truly odd and outlandish things that Ye did early on in his tenure with the three stripes. That included the Georgia MC having executives watch adult films at his Manhattan apartment and him drawing a sw***ka on a shoe during a meeting in Germany. Of course, things then spiraled further when he went on his various anti-Semitic rants in the 2020s.

AI Companies Tied To Creation Of “BBL Drizzy” Are Being Sued By The RIAA

The RIAA is taking a stand against the highly controversial use of AI in music. According to AllHipHop and CNN, The Recording Industry Association of America is filing two lawsuits against a pair of companies in the space for their contributions to the creation of “BBL Drizzy”. The latter quickly went viral during its use in the Drake versus Kendrick Lamar beef, mainly due to Metro Boomin. The superstar producer initiated a challenge to other rappers to give their best stuff over the instrumental. Whoever won the contest would receive $10,000 reward and a free beat. However, the original “BBL Drizzy” sample can be credited to internet comedian, King Willonius.

The latter used the AI platform, Udio, which is itself developed by Uncharted Labs. The RIAA is targeting the latter, as well as Suno. The organization feels it is entirely necessary to approach it in this way because they feel that both are performing “blatant infringement”. Neither Uncharted Labs nor Suno have commented on the impending legal action, according to CNN.

The RIAA Is Fighting Against AI & “BBL Drizzy”

In the paperwork from the RIAA, their overarching argument is this, “If developed with the permission and participation of copyright owners, generative AI tools will be able to assist humans in creating and producing new and innovative music. [But] without regard for fundamental copyright protections”, there could be “irreparable harm”, as well as a “[reduction] the quality of new music”. Furthermore, the RIAA adds, “These digital music files have been released to the public—some already finding their way onto the major streaming services—and compete with the copyrighted sound recordings that enabled their creation; yet Suno sought no permission from and gives no credit or compensation to the human artists or other rightsholders whose works fueled their creation”.

Dame Dash’s Roc-A-Fella Shares: Cam’ron & Mase Discuss Their “Hypothetical” Purchase

For the femcees, the drama between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj, as well as a slightly less tense feud between Latto and Ice Spice has been at the centre of internet discourse. As for male artists, the Diddy scandal unearthed by Cassie continues to bring forth other damning allegations, meanwhile, Dame Dash is doing everything in his power to hold onto his Roc-A-Fella shares amid a time of financial strife.

Last week it was reported that the music executive would have to sell his stake in the company to pay off an $800K+ debt he owes. Now, sources are saying Cam’ron and Mase might be the new owners of those shares; these rumours were addressed during a new episode of It Is What It Is this week. When the rappers’ co-host, Stat Baby, asked about the validity of the gossip, they couldn’t help but giggle about the situation for some time. “Let’s just say hypothetically, right?” Mase said with a grin while pulling money out of his coat pocket.

In response to their unofficial confirmation, some hip-hop heads think this is the best move possible for Dash. “I mean, Dame ain’t tryna seel it to Jay, so s**t, why not? I say ask for $3M and walk away knowing it’s in good hands. If Cam and Mase acquire it, then it’s win for them both ’cause now Cam with the ROC and Mase get a win ’cause of those jabs Hov took at ’em,” one person wrote under @thehiphopwolf’s post.

Dame Dash is in a tough spot, with upwards of $800K still owed to a film producer who’s actively trying to get his money. Thankfully, Jay-Z and “Biggs” Burke are doing their part to keep his Roc-A-Fella shares in his name, though this rumoured deal has the potential to shake everything up. Lil Rod Also Trying To Sue Diddy For Publishing On Top Of His Sexual Assault Claims

The lawsuits and accusations continue to pile up for Diddy as Lil Rod is one the more recent to speak up. Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones worked on The Love Album: Off The Grid which dropped back in September of 2023. It is one that Rod said he “took a year off” to work tirelessly on. However, even with all of the long nights and “not going to sleep until it’s done,” he was being paid “pennies.” Furthermore, he said that the contract he signed was “disgusting,” according to AllHipHop. So, with all of that, Lil Rod is also suing Diddy over publishing, on top of the wild sexual assault and harassment allegations.

However, for this to happen Lil Rod created a GoFundMe page to raise $50,000 to help with paying an attorney. In the post below from The Neighborhood Talk, they found a video of him and Diddy going back and forth about his publishing details. Lil Rod posted that video on his Instagram and Stevie J, who was a part of the Bad Boy’s production collective responded essentially calling him a liar.

Diddy’s legal team has the same opinion as Stevie J, saying, “We have overwhelming, indisputable proof that his claims are complete lies.” They also called him out for looking for an “undeserved payday” especially after the previous lawsuit is around $30 million. According to Zane Lowe, this version of Kid Cudi is “a reenergized Cudi.” That comes from the legendary interviewer’s latest sit-down with Cleveland’s very own Mr. Rager. The 39-year-old multi-talent just dropped his 11th project INSANO on January 12. It looks to be another top 10-worthy release on the Billboard Hot 200 with nearly 50,000 copies sold. While the LP was the main reason for Lowe to chat with Cudi. However, there was another interesting nugget that the two spoke about. The hitmaker revealed how he and Lupe Fiasco’s dislike for one another started.

HipHopDX highlighted that it all began in 2008. Before Cudi got his music career going, he was an employee at the BAPE store in New York. Lupe Fiasco happened to be shopping there one day and his co-workers were juiced to see him. The opposite could be said about Cudi. “[I] Stayed down the stairs, waited until he left. [My colleagues] were like, ‘What you down here for?’” He explained, “‘Yo bro, if I get famous one day, I don’t ever want this n**** saying like, ‘He sold me clothes. You my son!’ We can’t have that!’”

Other solo efforts to come from the 30-year-old last year include “Meet Me in Da Skreets” and “1-800-Bad-Bxtch,” though we haven’t heard a full-length project from him since 2021’s Keep It Playa featuring Rubi Rose, Kaliii, the City Girls, and BeatKing.

Earlier this week, rumours began circulating online that Santana and his label have parted ways. No formal announcement came from either party. However, internet sleuths noticed that the TikTok star is no longer listed on RCA’s website. “No matches for your search. Run it back,” a screenshot shared by @MobzWorld on Twitter/X shows the page saying. Instead of addressing the gossip, the “Walk Em Like A Dog” artist is showing what he’s got up his sleeve next.

The disco-infused project was mostly well-received, though a few artists took issue with samples of their work appearing throughout the Houston native’s songs, including Kelis. Queen B responded to the hate by taking out the “Milkshake” interpolation, but we’re curious to see how she’ll respond to Hajime Sorayama’s recent Instagram post about her “ALIEN SUPERSTAR”-esque looks on her tour that is notably similar to his past artwork.

On Monday (December 10), the renowned artist’s social media lit up with a post comparing one of her most futuristic looks to some of his designs. “Yo @beyonce You should have asked me ‘officially’ so that I could make much better work for you as like my man @theweeknd ,” Sorayama wrote in his caption. Within the past 24 hours, the comment section has flooded with people criticizing the Japanese artist for seemingly trying to take credit for a style that he didn’t necessarily create.
