Ice Spice Was All About Butts And Farts During Her 2024 BET Awards Performance Medley

Ice Spice has undoubtedly been one of hip-hop’s biggest rising stars of the past couple years. The whole time, along with her undeniable bars, she has made use of her sex appeal. A combination of both factors fueled her 2024 BET Awards performance.

The performance opened up with “Phat Butt” and Ice made the moment all about the song’s namesake on a gas station set. She then kept things in backside territory by moving onto “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” to wrap up her two-song medley.

Ice is about a month away from the release of her upcoming album, Y2K, the cover art of which saw a bit of criticism. Starting in a few days, she’ll also be heading out on tour in support of the album, alongside Cash Cobain. This is all going down as she gears up to star alongside Denzel Washington in an upcoming movie.

Ice Spice has three nominations at this year’s awards. Her and Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie World” is up for Best Collaboration, Ice herself is up for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, and “Barbie World” is also up for Video Of The Year.

Ice Spice Speaks On The Leaked Texts Of Her Allegedly Dragging Nicki Minaj

Ice Spice has not had the easiest road since starting her rap journey just a couple of years ago. It seems that at nearly every turn, people are critiquing something about her. Whether it be music, fashion, or any other career decision, there seems to be a lot of animosity constantly. For example, her original album cover for Y2K! was clowned mercilessly online. Fans were making tons of jokes about the title being on a trash can. Another thing Ice Spice has been ridiculed over are some alleged leaked texts from an “ex best friend” in which she tore down Nicki Minaj.

The leaker of the messages is Baby Storme and it seems she was doing everything in her power to ruin Spice’s image. According to HipHopDX, this was not the only time Storme was trying to expose the “Munch” rapper. Overall, she was attempting to highlight that she is fake, fatphobic, a cheater, and a liar. As for the Nicki texts allegedly from Spice, there were a few key messages that set a lot of the Barbz off, especially. Two of them were, “shes kinda like my mom. ungrateful and delusional”. That comparison followed previous texts that explained how the drill artist presented the Barbie soundtrack ideas to her because “that’s her brand”.

Ice Spice Is Moving Past The Nicki Minaj Texts

Overall, the whole situation was extremely messy and now Ice Spice is looking to just forget about it. In a recent interview with BET surrounding the upcoming award show, the interviewers vaguely asked her about how she handles certain drawbacks of being famous like the leaked messages. Spice answered by saying, “Sometimes I’m tempted to engage with certain things. But I also realized you’re just going to give it legs to grow and run with and sometimes I think you can overexplain yourself a little bit. So, I just like to focus on what I can control and what really matters.”

What are your thoughts on the response from Ice Spice about the text drama surrounding Nicki Minaj? Do you think she is handling this in the right way, why or why not? If not, should Spice hash things out with her former collaborator? Will we ever get another song between them ever again? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. This Sunday (June 30) at 8 p.m., all eyes will be on BET as the 2024 BET Awards take place. We know who’s nominated: That was announced in May, and leading the pack are Drake, Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, Victoria Monét, 21 Savage, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Tyla, and Usher.

The other big piece of the puzzle is who is set to perform during the broadcast. Well, now we know.

Who’s Performing At The 2024 BET Awards?

It was announced today (June 26) that Megan Thee Stallion has joined the lineup, as she’ll perform to open the show.

Meanwhile, added to the lineup two days ago was Will Smith, who is set to perform a new original song.

Also performing during the broadcast will be GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Lauryn Hill and YG Marley, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, Tyla, and Victoria Monét. Tanner Adell will also perform, on the BET Amplified stage.

Usher, meanwhile, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement BET Award. Taraji P. Henson is returning to host the show.

Aside from getting ready for the BET Awards, Megan also just had a fresh Amazon Prime Day ad campaign drop, which included a brand-new song made specifically for the commercial.

Latto’s Rumored Album Title May Have Been Inspired By Ice Spice And Naturally, Fans Are Losing Their Cool About It

Oy vey. Just when you thought Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert in LA finally brought the fractious energy of early 2024 to its natural conclusion, another one of the many, many examples of rap beef this year resurfaced over the weekend to potentially keep the bad vibes rolling into the summer.

According to fans attending Latto’s Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta, the “Big Energy” rapper teased the title of her next album during the show. It’s supposedly called Sugar Honey Iced Tea, and here’s why fans think it has to do with Ice Spice and her beef with Latto. Latto later seemingly confirmed that she does have something by that name “OTW” and with a CD emoji attached, it does appear to be an album.

Obviously, the phrase “sugar honey iced tea” has long been used as an acronym for a certain bad word referring to poop. This is significant here because Ice Spice’s most successful Y2K! single this year so far has been “Think U The Sh*t (Fart),” which the Bronx native admitted is a diss song about Latto. While Latto already addressed Ice Spice with her own combative single, “Sunday Service,” fans have interpreted Latto’s album title as a direct response to Ice’s accusation, acknowledging that yes, she does think she is “the sh*t.”

Naturally, everyone is being very chill about this… oh, wait. No. Of course, they aren’t. In any event, you can watch Latto’s Birthday Bash in full up top, and check out just some of the reactions to her album’s potential title below.

Ice Spice Releases Hot New Single “Phat Butt”

unnamed 47

Today, GRAMMY-nominated rapper and pop culture sensation Ice Spice unleashes the pulse-pounding new single “Phat Butt.” Defiant, sexy, and dripping with attitude, the summer anthem features on the rapper’s hotly anticipated debut album Y2K! — due July 26. The project also includes recent hits “Think U The Shit (Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light.”

“Hatin’ bitches be angry, hatin’ bitches they ain’t me,” Ice Spice spits on “Phat Butt” over RIOTUSA’s bone-rattling beats and ferocious percussion. “How the fuck I’m still chewing bitches in plain shorts and a grey tee?” From there, the multi-platinum hitmaker outlines why she is the moment. “Rap bitch on the pop chart, toasting bitches like pop tarts,” she declares. “Fat butt and a back tatt and I been bad like Mike Jack.” Both a razor-sharp missive to opps and a party-starting banger, “Phat Butt” is peak Ice Spice

That also applies to the self-directed video that finds the rap superstar performing in front of graffiti. Ice Spice rocks a yellow bob with sharp bangs as she preens and poses in a designer fit complemented with serious bling. Clever use of filters gives the visual a gritty edge, but ultimately the 24-year-old is front and center — as she should be.

Ice Spice’s Boastful ‘Phat Butt’ Video Flexes Both Her Bars And Body

Pull those pants up. Bronx rapper Ice Spice continues her Y2K! rollout with the tough-talking “Phat Butt” video. As always, the new song is produced by Ice’s long-running collaborator RiotUSA, who offers a video gamey beat that gives the rapper plenty of room to stretch her lyrical muscles. Among her boasts on track are reminders of her recent success (“We came from the four line to four times Grammy nominated”) and, of course, flexes about her attention-grabbing physique (“Fat butt pull my pants up / Shakin’ ass got my bands up”).

“Phat Butt” is the third single from Ice Spice’s upcoming debut album Y2K!, following “Think U the Sh*t (Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light.” While none has reached the heights of the four hit singles she references in the lyrics to “Phat Butt” (“Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress, “Karma” by Taylor Swift, and “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World” with Nicki Minaj), fans continue to look forward to the debut. Ice confirmed its July 26 release date after months of teasing, then announced her headlining tour with Cash Cobain earlier this month, following up with a defense of the album cover after fans maligned it online.

Y2K! will be out on July 26 via 10K Projects and Capitol Records.

Ice Spice Gives Fans What They Want On New “Phat Butt” Single

Ice Spice is a formulaic artist. It’s not a criticism, per say. Most successful pop stars hit upon a formula that works, and continue to make variations on said formula until it gets stale. Fortunately, for the Bronx rapper, it hasn’t gotten stale. Ice Spice has cornered the market when it comes to trash-talking over pop rap beats with trap flourishes. If “Munch” is the blueprint for this sound, than “Phat Butt” is evidence that Spice’s upcoming album, Y2K, is going to be dedicated exclusively to bangers.

“Phat Butt” is actually the first track on Ice Spice’s impending debut. Musically speaking, it’s easy to see why. There’s an bass-heavy start, before the drums kick in and an ominous synth takes over. It’s one of the more adventurous beats Spice has rapped on, as it sounds closer to somebody Playboi Carti or Ken Carson would release. It also has the self-awareness to not overstay its welcome. “Phat Butt” is a little over two minutes in length, which is perfect. As one can intuit from the title, there isn’t much being said that we haven’t heard before. Ice Spice trash talks her ops and her butt. There is some fun wordplay on the back end of the song, though, when Spice starts rapping about Batman and Pac-Man. It’s light and fun, ultimately.

Let us know what you think of this brand-new track, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Ice Spice Showcases An Otherworldy Sound For Potential Single “Phat Butt”

There is a belief out there that Ice Spice’s upcoming debut album Y2K! could be career altering record for better or worse. The New York rapper experienced an extremely quick rise to star status after several viral singles. It has led to brand deals, as well as co-signs from major stars. However, after the release of her first project, Like.. ? in early 2023, the quality of her releases has not been up to snuff, for the most part. Those tracks of course include “Think U The S*** (Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light”. But perhaps this potential single from Ice Spice, “Phat Butt”, could swing her fortunes.

Since her fans are going to have wait another month and change for the LP, the 24-year-old has been extremely generous with the snippets. With “Phat Butt” being teased multiple times in the past couple of days, there is a good chance we get another sneak peek at the sonic direction soon. Compared to the aforementioned promotional cuts, “Phat Butt” sees Ice Spice go for a more spacey, warped, and dark sound. It sounds like something Yeat would have put on his last record, 2093.

In terms of the artist performance, the “Munch” MC is bringing a more stripped back and cool cadence. It is a pretty stark change from the shouty deliveries on “(Fart)” and “Gimmie A Light”. The flows and bars are also pretty sticky, “Name got the b**** gaggin’, hit the bench up and tagged in / B****, you lost, throw the flag in, stay on a jet, but ain’t laggin’ (Yup) / Got these b****es copying my pose (My pose) / Got these b****es bitin’ all my flows (Bitin’ all my flows) / Like ballerinas, keep em’ on they toes (On they toes) / And I really write, like f*** a ghost (Ghost, ghost, ghost)“. If this is the type of material fans are getting a lot of on Y2K!, then those monthly listener numbers are going to shoot back up.

What are your thoughts on this new Ice Spice snippet, “Phat Butt”? Do you like Ice Spice going in a darker direction for this upcoming track, why or why not? Could this be one of her best songs to date? Does this get you more excited for her upcoming debut album Y2K!? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Ice Spice “Y2K”—Artists Fans Want On Her Debut Album

Ice Spice has announced plans to release her debut album Y2K this July, with a world tour set to follow soon after. The album will be Ice Spice’s first full-length body of work, serving as a make-or-break moment for the up-and-coming artist. She has previously built considerable buzz with just a few singles, features, and prominent movie soundtrack placements, accumulating a monthly Spotify listenership of over 45 million Spotify users at certain points in her career. While Ice Spice has shown she can carry a song by herself, fans are already hyped to learn what featured artists may be present on Y2K. Let’s list a few fan-favorite choices as we continue to patiently sit back and hear the final product.

5. Lil Wayne

Ice Spice has already collaborated with Nicki Minaj to major success. It only makes sense that she would travel up the ranks of the former Young Money signees and link with other big-name artists such as Lil Wayne or even Drake. Ice Spice’s aggressive flow, powerful stage presence, and propensity for leaning on shallow wordplay make her an ideal candidate for a Wayne feature, as the pair would blend styles quite harmoniously.

4. JID

While a JID feature may seem a bit out of left field, the Atlanta native has a real habit of bringing some of the best feature verses in the game right now. If JID were to appear on Ice Spice’s Y2K, his vocal melodies and densely packed rhymes would provide the perfect contrast for Ice’s drill-inspired New York flows. Ice Spice’s greatest weakness seems to be a heavy reliance on her iconic flow, which could hinder her ability to keep listeners entertained for an entire project. Adding a versatile and respected young rapper like JID into the mix could only improve the sonic diversity of her debut album.

3. Chief Keef

As mentioned, Ice Spice leans heavily on the New York drill sound, which will undoubtedly be present all over Y2K. Who better to assist her chopped vocal melodies and thumping, bass-heavy production than the founder of the Chicago drill wave, Chief Keef? Keef has also been getting into his melodic singing bag quite a bit lately, with features such as “Hit & Run” by Tobi Lou, “Ghetto Princess” with Sexyy Red, and Lyrical Lemonade’s “Say Ya Grace.” As a result, his vibe and presence could bring a lot to an Ice Spice track.

2. Megan Thee Stallion

It is highly unlikely that Megan Thee Stallion will appear on Ice Spice’s Y2K album, though it would be a pleasant surprise. Meg has seemingly entered her prime lately, with a string of singles and freestyles that have fans itching to hear more of her brash Houston sound. Earlier this year, Ice Spice became a de facto opponent of Thee Stallion due to her relationship with Nicki Minaj, even leading to something of a proxy beef breaking out between Ice Spice and Latto. If Meg and Ice could work together and bury the hatchet, it would be a big step in laying to rest the pervasive rumor that women in hip hop can’t get along. We won’t hold our breaths for this one, but the team-up would be legendary if it ever played out.

1. Taylor Swift

The No. 1 spot on this list could only go to the queen of the modern music landscape herself, Taylor Swift. Not only would a Taylor Swift inclusion bring massive numbers to Ice Spice’s Y2K, it would also make perfect sense as the two popular vocalists are already friends outside of music. Ice Spice and Taylor previously linked up for a remixed version of Swift’s song “Karma,” though they have yet to craft an original hit together. Seeing the chemistry of Ice Spice and Taylor Swift come together on a pop single would absolutely propel Y2K to massive heights and deliver a major streaming win for the rising star.

Ice Spice Responded To Fans Who Criticized The Placement Of ‘Y2K’ On Her Album Cover

Yesterday, Ice Spice announced the release date of her debut album, Y2K, after months of anticipation. At the same time, she also shared the album’s cover artwork, but while she was clearly very proud of it, folks on social media were, unsurprisingly, less than impressed.

One element fans took note of was the placement of the album’s title on the photo, which was shot by David LaChappelle. Some fans even took it upon themselves to redesign the cover themselves, hoping to improve on its perceived flaws.

Today, Ice Spice herself responded to the criticism, posting a Polaroid photo of herself and LaChappelle on X (RIP, Twitter.com) with a thankful caption and a cryptic message. “David LaChapelle is #Y2K!” she wrote. “soooo sweet + legendary he didn’t even charge me cus he f*cks wit a real b*tch💋thank U for all the incredible art you’ve put out through the years this cover means everything to me ❤ & yes Y2K was placed on the trash can on purpose can u guess why?”

If the placement of the album title is indeed meant to be a metaphor for moving on from the nostalgia for years past, it certainly hasn’t translated in Ice’s music. A proponent of so-called “sample drill,” both her look and her sound draw heavily from the years immediately after her birth (she was born on New Year’s Day, 2000, if you can believe it). Her most recent single, “Gimmie A Light,” interpolates a sample from Sean Paul’s 2002 hit “Gimmie The Light,” while 2023’s “Barbie World” tapped Aqua’s “Barbie Girl,” a staple of turn-of-the-millennium Europop.
