Taylor Swift Donates $100K To Family Of Kansas City Radio Host Killed In Chiefs Parade Shooting

Taylor Swift has reportedly donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe set up to support the family of late Kansas City radio host Lisa Lopez-Galvan. Lopez-Galvan was killed when a trio of individuals opened fire at the Chiefs Super Bowl parade earlier this week. “Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,” a note on the donation read. Before taking the stage for an Eras Tour show in Melbourne, Swift’s team confirmed to Billboard that it was a legitimate donation from the swinger.

Lopez-Galvan, who hosted a food program on a local radio station, was the lone fatality in the shooting. 22 others were injured. “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally. Our hearts and prayers are with her family. This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community,” wrote Lopez-Galvan’s employer wrote in a statement.

Police Highlight “Dispute” That May Have Lead To Chiefs Parade Gunfire

Meanwhile, Police in Kansas City have pointed to a “multi-party dispute” as the potential cause of the mass shooting that broke out at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl Parade yesterday. Three individuals, including two minors, are currently in custody and are being questioned about the shooting. Furthermore, firearms were recovered from the scene. “We are working to determine the involvement of others. And it should be noted we have recovered several firearms. This incident is still a very active investigation,” Police Chief Stacey Graves said at a news conference.

More information is also emerging about the fallout of the incident. One person died and 22 were injured, including 11 children. The local fire chief said that eight people were critically injured and seven were in serious condition. However, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, who was in attendance, said there were no plans to cancel the upcoming St. Patrick’s Parade. “We have parades all the time. I don’t think they’ll end. Certainly, we recognized the public safety challenges and issues that relate to them,” Lucas said.

Update: GoFundMe Denies Freezing $400k Raised For Homeless Man

Screen Shot 2024 02 12 at 10.08.59 AM

A tale of generosity and compassion has taken another turn as a GoFundMe denies freezing campaign aimed at aiding a homeless man in Washington, D.C. The crowdfunding platform has come under scrutiny for freezing over $400,000 raised by a college student for the homeless individual, sparking a debate about the ethics of fundraising for individuals with criminal histories—all of which GoFundMe says is untrue.

In a statement sent to The Source GoFundMe denies the allegations:

It is not uncommon for someone to create a GoFundMe to help another individual and we continue to be inspired by the generosity and empathy our GoFundMe community shows every day. Donations are safely held by our payment processor partners until the correct beneficiary is added to the fundraiser or a distribution plan is established with the organizer with the approval of the beneficiary. Ensuring that donors’ intentions are honored is our top priority and we continue to work closely with the organizer who set out to help Alonzo get the care he needs.

Sanai Graden, a college student, shared her encounter with Alonzo Douglas Hebron, a homeless man, in a viral TikTok video. Graden’s video depicted her interaction with Hebron outside a Washington, D.C. grocery store, where he approached her and requested assistance in purchasing a cup of tea. After learning about Hebron’s homelessness and diagnosis of prostate cancer, Graden went above and beyond, paying for his medication, securing him a hotel room, and documenting her acts of kindness on social media.

Inspired by her encounter, Graden initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise donations for Hebron’s benefit. The campaign quickly gained traction, attracting widespread attention from local news programs and social media platforms. Within days, rumors emerged that the campaign amassed over $402,000 in donations before GoFundMe intervened and paused the fundraising efforts.

The momentum of the campaign came to an abrupt halt when a woman, recognizing Hebron from the news coverage, came forward with allegations of his violent past. The woman reported being attacked by Hebron in 2020, and rumors that GoFundMe froze the campaign in accordance with its Terms of Service, which prohibit fundraising for individuals with histories of violent crimes.

Now, GoFundMe also states: Donations must be used for the intended purpose described on the fundraiser in alignment with GoFundMe Terms of Service. However, should a donor want to submit a claim to request a refund, we will honor it for them. I’ll also share with you a verified fundraiser link started to “pay it forward” to Sanai following her kindness towards Alonzo, which her mom is managing: https://www.gofundme.com/f/pay-it-forward-to-nai

GoFundMe Freezes $400k Raised For Homeless Man With Violent Past

A tale of generosity and compassion has taken a contentious turn as a GoFundMe campaign, aimed at aiding a homeless man in Washington, D.C., has been halted amidst revelations of his violent past. The crowdfunding platform has come under scrutiny for freezing over $400,000 raised by a college student for the homeless individual, sparking a debate about the ethics of fundraising for individuals with criminal histories.

The woman reported being attacked by Hebron in 2020, prompting GoFundMe to freeze the campaign in accordance with its Terms of Service, which prohibit fundraising for individuals with histories of violent crimes.

The decision by GoFundMe to freeze the campaign has sparked a wave of criticism, with many questioning the platform’s handling of the situation. TikToker Santana Cruise & Travel voiced her discontent, condemning GoFundMe for withholding the funds raised for Hebron. Critics argue that the actions of an individual’s past, in this case, a violent incident from four years ago, should not impede efforts to provide assistance to those in need.

DJ Vlad GoFundMe Seeking $500K For Boosie Badazz’s 2024 Interviews, Less Than $50 Raised So Far

Boosie Badazz still makes music. However, at this point in his career, the Southern lyricist is better known for his commentary on pop culture events, criminal antics, and family drama. He’s currently feuding with his mother and brother over a legal battle – not to mention his long-running spat with Yung Bleu. The multi-talent was arrested earlier this year while attending YNW Melly’s first double murder trial and has since been on (mostly) good behaviour while maintaining his status in the industry.

Earlier this month, Boosie went to New York to appear on The Breakfast Club. During his chat with Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy, we heard the 41-year-old discuss a good friend of his, Vlad Lyubovy, who often invites him on VladTV to discuss current events, among other things. According to Boosie, he makes $500K annually for sitting down with the blogger, and now that the news is out, Vlad has resorted to making a GoFundMe to help him collect the funds to pay his rapper pal for 2024.

DJ Vlad Has Jokes After Boosie Badazz Exposes Him

“Now that Boosie told ‘TBC’ that we pay him him $500K/year to be on ‘VladTV,’ all of our other regular guests want the same amount too so we can’t afford to keep our lights on,” he quipped on Twitter yesterday (November 13). “We had no choice but to start a GoFundMe to avoid going out of business. Even $1 would help during a time like this,” Vlad pleaded. At the time of publication, a total of $49 has come in to pay Boosie for his 2024 commentary. There’s still a long way to go, but seeing as it’s the Baton Rouge-born artist’s birthday, fans are all the more likely to be feeling generous.

If what Boosie Badazz said about his VladTV checks is true, it’s no wonder he’s got no problem offering out a huge cash prize to the fan who finds his ankle monitor charger. Earlier this month, the Louisana native said he’d give $5,000 to anyone who can help him avoid trouble with the law by finding his missing electronic device. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Eminem’s Former Collaborator Had To Launch A GoFundMe For Medical Issues

In early 2003, Eminem released the third single from his fourth album The Eminem Show. The track was called “Superman” and it became a big hit rising all the way up to number 15 on the Hot 100. It also turned up on the 2003 year-end charts at number 98. The track features collaborations from a singer called Dina Rae. Rae appears as a vocal guest on a number of the rapper’s tracks but unfortunately, she appears to have fallen on hard times.

Back in March, she made a GoFundMe to try and get the money for some necessary medical care. She ultimately required corrective surgery for her neck and spine. She had the expensive procedure done at UCLA Hospital and anticipates facing massive bills afterward. “As I’m sure you know, this is an expensive surgery and during this procedure and after I will be entirely responsible for all associated costs, and unable to work as I recover,” the homepage of the GoFundMe reads. Check out a post about it below.

Eminem Singer Dina Rae Launches GoFundMe

Rae elaborated more on her request for help. “I am raising money so I can have this procedure, because the fact is, I’ll need some help as I recover and rehabilitate. I’m hoping to cover rent bills and the basic expenses for a few months, I thank you all so much.” The GoFundMe currently sits with just $1600 of its $33k goal raised but Em’s fans online have ben spreading it recently.

Eminem has spoken out a few times recently getting fans’ attention. He called 50 Cent his “best friend” causing the rapper to reflect on their career development together. That comment emerged from Em joining 50 Cent on stage during a Detroit stop on his massive ongoing “The Final Lap” tour. Gunplay Calls Out Fans Who Refunded GoFundMe Donations Over Rick Ross Gift

Gunplay has called out fans who refunded their donations to his GoFundMe page, after believing that the money was used to buy Rick Ross a necklace. Gunplay’s partner launched the fundraiser to get help paying off their daughter’s medical bills after she had an emergency heart surgery in February. All-in-all, the couple raised just over $30,000. However, the fundraiser was brought up during DJ Envy’s recent feud with Rick Ross.

In a video that has surfaced on social media, Gunplay gifts Ross a new chain. Afterward, some fans apparently refunded their donations to the family’s GoFundMe. “Every single one of you pussy-ass hoes and fuck n****s that went to the GoFundMe and donated and went and got a motherfucking refund, you never gave it with your heart,” Gunplay said in a new interview with We In Miami. “You’re a piece of shit. You’ll die that way.”

He continued: “People that see me give my brother a gift, they automatically want to say that I bought that with GoFundMe money. N***a had to pay that back. So now, if you really want to be for real, my n***a, if a n***a spent that on a chain, how the fuck they got it right back instantly with no pressure?”

The argument wasn’t enough to win over many fans. When We In Miami shared the clip on Instagram, one commented: “How are you buying diamond chains for your homies but asking for donations for your kid? Yes I would have questions too.” Another remarked: “The fact he can’t see the problem is wild.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Gunplay continued to criticize DJ Envy. He even challenged The Breakfast Club host to a boxing match. “He didn’t realize, you know, that I’ll slap the shit outta him,” he said. “Yo, Envy, wassup? Put on the gloves. Let’s get it!” Check out Gunplay’s comments on the We In Miami podcast here.

DJ Envy Responds To Gunplay & GoFundMe Comments

DJ Envy has responded to Gunplay calling him out on social media over comments he made about the rapper having a GoFundMe. Envy had brought it up while discussing his feud with Rick Ross, claiming that Ross didn’t contribute to the campaign. Gunplay demanded a public apology afterward. Envy addressed the incident during an episode of The Breakfast Club on Tuesday morning.

“I didn’t mention his wife and child, and I didn’t put the information about his GoFundMe, he did. I didn’t let that cat out the bag,” Envy said. “He talked about it. It was something that was a story that was reported. So, I didn’t talk about any of that.”

Envy continued: “When Gunplay called me, because he’s a friend to the room and he was upset at first, you can tell he was upset at first, I’m like ‘he’s a friend’ so like speaking to any friend who’s upset, so I let him go. I let him vent and afterwards we had a discussion and said ‘If your wife was offended, that wasn’t my intent and I apologize.’”

Gunplay originally posted a video of a phone call with Envy on social media, earlier this week. “What I had to do with anything, man? And my wife posting a GoFundMe?” Gunplay asked Envy. “My baby was sick. She had a heart defect. That has nothing to do with cars. You know I’ll slap the sh*t out you.”

DJ Envy Responds To Gunplay

Envy and Rick Ross have been feuding for weeks as they both host car shows. Ross had initially called out Envy during an appearance on Drink Champs, noting that the two aren’t on the same level. Envy fired back by bringing up Ross’ past experience as a correctional officer, even wearing an entire uniform on The Breakfast Club to troll the rapper.

DMX’s Daughter Launches GoFundMe To Finance Docuseries On Drug Abuse

We’re fast approaching the two-year anniversary of DMX’s passing. The beloved Hip Hop icon left us back in 2021 following an accidental overdose that caused a heart attack. A GoFundMe campaign shows that his daughter, Sonovah Hillman Jr., is working on a documentary about drug abuse. The 10-year-old shared that she has “lost multiple family members to fentanyl and drug addiction,” so she wanted to lend her young voice to this important, global conversation.

“I felt like I had to do something to help this crisis,” said Sonovah. It would be a series that shifted discussions as they speak with children who have been affected. “I came up with the idea to do a four-part docuseries on fentanyl and drug addiction. I want to show the world the point of view from a child’s perspective.” She added that she knows others are having similar experiences, and she wants to help tell their stories.

“I want to reach out and ask for assistance with some of the production costs to get started,” she further said. “These funds will be used for pre and post-production. All donations are greatly appreciated and will help me get closer to my goal of educating, spreading awareness and saving lives.” In total, she and her team are requesting $250K.

Sonovah has received widespread support, especially among those who empathize with her experiences. Others, mostly adults, who have also lost parents or loved ones to drug abuse not only financially donated, but they offered kind words of support for her efforts. Hip Hop has unfortunately suffered several loses since DMX’s passing. Many young artists have recognized the epidemic and shared their recovery on social media.

Meanwhile, DMX was always open about his journey. His authenticity about his struggles is still discussed today as people weigh in about drug culture in Hip Hop. The Rap icon often spoke about his traumas and even endured public therapy on reality television to help others. Sonovah is picking up the torch and making sure her father’s legacy continues to be an inspiration.

Beyoncé Fans Use GoFundMe To Get “Renaissance” Tour Tickets

Witnessing millions of fans online try to get Beyoncé tickets has been as entertaining as the album, at least if you’re not one of the many hopeful concert-goers suffering through presale and website issues. Moreover, Beyoncé fans took to GoFundMe to ask for money to purchase tickets for the Renaissance World Tour. While their pleas range from heartfelt to funny to frustrated, the tour’s insane demand means that they’ll be tough to catch. Even with all the money in the world, it won’t help insane queue times and shows selling out lighting fast.

Furthermore, one fan wrote, “This is the only life experience I care about living before I die. I will get those front row tickets either way but this way is safer than selling my kidney on the black market.” In fact, some screenshots obtained by TMZ indicate that some people are already close to their goals. Moreover, that last commenter already garnered $225 out of his $300 goal, at least based on their screenshot. What’s more is that it makes you wonder what else people can get away with on there. Still, many of these hopefuls are Beyhive live vets. “Listen…I would love your financial support in sending me to Beyoncé World Tour 2023,” another expressed. “I haven’t missed a Beyoncé concert yet, but I got ‘bills, bills, bills.’”

Meanwhile, other fans unfortunately haven’t raised much money for their selfish but understandable cause. This comes off the heels of UK tickets going on sale just recently. As expected, the demand far outweighs the supply available, something that Live Nation maintained in a statement. According to them, demand exceeds available tickets by over 800%, and they acknowledged the many fans who won’t get to see her.

Still what do you think of the GoFundMe campaigns to raise money for Beyoncé tour tickets? Moreover, are you one of the fans who took a chance on the platform or do you already have your tickets? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest on Beyoncé and the ubiquitous Renaissance World Tour.
