Big Sean’s latest interview with The Breakfast Club‘s Charlamagne tha God is generating quite a bit of buzz. During their chat, they divulge in numerous topics, with perhaps the biggest surrounding him and Kendrick Lamar’s relationship. However, there is another section that is causing some debate amongst the viewers. Over each decade of hip-hop, you can point to three artists who have defined their respective periods. The one that gets perhaps the most traction is for the 2010s. Most throw in Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole in there, something that each MC has addressed several times as of late.

Other names you can debate are Future, Travis Scott, and Kanye West. The former of those names is someone that Charlamagne is willing to create a “Fantastic Four” for. Additionally, he tells Sean that the aforementioned “Big Three” is essentially unanimous, to which Sean rebuttals that he hears his moniker thrown around in those conversations. Additionally, though, the Detroit rapper can understand where people, including Charlamagne, are coming from. He cites that his “consistency” really isn’t there, mentioning how he hasn’t dropped an album in almost four years. Although, that dry spell will be ending on August 9 when Sean comes out with Better Me Than You.

While the “Precision” rapper does show some humility, he does make clear that he can hang with the best of them on any track. He boldly mentions his verses on two Kendrick Lamar collabs, “Control” and DJ Khaled’s “Holy Key”, as his biggest flexes. In fact, he even claims he made sure he put together the stronger performance on the latter. This prompted fans to react. “He didn’t have a better verse on holy key though lol”, one user on X says. Overall, there were some fans that put Sean in the same air as three aforementioned pillars of the past decade and some that don’t. Maybe, though, he can convince the critics next Friday.

Kendrick Lamar’s Engineer Is Being Called A Liar Over Drake Diss Revelation

A clip from a sit-down between Kendrick Lamar’s engineer and Engine Ears Live is stirring up conversation. During their chat, Nicolas de Porcel retold the “amazing” procedure behind each Drake diss record during their battle. “It was a little crazy. I got a call, and it was like, ‘Stay on call, you’re gonna be working’”, Porcel began. “I would get the song and like six minutes would elapse and they’d be like, ‘How we looking?’. It was very high pressure. As Dot was releasing these records, it was like, I was turning in the masters… It would drop like 12 minutes later. It was amazing”.

Any sort of extra details about this beef are going to cause even more debate, and that’s exactly what is going on in the Xspace. According to XXL, fans are very split on whether or not de Porcel is telling the truth. Expectedly, there are a lot of skeptics out there, which is quite understandable. Many non-believers were pointing out how there is no way every fine detail was being ironed out. “You guys smoking the same crack Kendrick was in Power. It’s literally not possible to mix and master a full session at a professional level in just 30 minutes. It takes that long just to organize and label all the session stems”, one user states.

Complete bs. If the beat is already mixed, a single vocal track on a beat can be mixed in minutes. Especially if the studio has already mixed a lot of your albums, so they probably have a preset available to cut the time to a fraction.

Additionally, some weren’t agreeing due to the fact that Kendrick didn’t address anything said in “Family Matters”. “Lmao it’s literally not possible to listen to family matters, enter the studio and record meet the grahams, mix and master the track and release it all under 30 minutes, he didn’t even rebuttal anything from family matters”. Then, there are some who are pointing out that it’s totally plausible, citing Kendrick’s greatness as a result. “They are surprised the man is that good.. they trying to talk down on the genius.. too good !!!”.

Ice Spice Causes More Weight Loss Debate Among Fans Over Her Shrinking Waist

Ice Spice is the talk of the town on the Internet these days for all the right and wrong reasons, although they all inform each other to some degree. For example, while some folks are debating what they thought about her new album Y2K, others think that the heavy rollout for the project is indicating a more personal change in her life. Moreover, a lot of fans think that the Bronx femcee is rapidly losing weight, and her latest Instagram post showing off her tiny waist is yet another indicator of that for some users out there.

While plenty of people think she’s just hitting the gym or don’t really care whether or not she’s losing weight, others are more concerned with what they see as a very fast process or are unhappy with how folks are speaking on the matter so casually. Furthermore, Ice Spice hasn’t really directly addressed this conversation outright at press time, so we don’t think that she minds it too much or else we would’ve heard something by now. But at the end of the day, this is just a lot of social media gossip that should hopefully be moot in the face of whatever personal goals and lifestyle choices she has for herself either way.

What’s more is that this isn’t even the most contentious part of Ice Spice’s public-facing persona right now, as Y2K got its fair share of hate from rap fans. Nevertheless, her opening tour show in Washington, D.C. seemed to be quite the packed and energetic affair, so we’re sure that this will drown out a lot of the negativity behind this album cycle. Also, we can’t rule out a critical reevaluation down the line, even if we doubt that would arrive anytime soon. At least it’s more understandable and less invasive to critique art rather than a waistline.

Meanwhile, Ice Spice has a lot of other narratives to address, like her recent comments on her at-arm’s-length-relationship with Nicki Minaj. In the weeks and months following Y2K, we’re sure we will get plenty of more reflections on this era and what her headspace is looking like. But maybe this fan speculation over supposed weight loss won’t be a part of those conversations. Perhaps it’s best for fans to just mind their own business before speculating on someone else’s.

Kanye West Fans Are Highly Pessimistic Following The “VULTURES 2” Release Date Reveal

When Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign first announced the official release dates for the VULTURES trilogy, the hype was immediate and feverish. When VULTURES 1 hit streaming on February 10, a day after its initial date, fans were hopeful that this tandem would follow through on the schedule. If you remember, installment number two was supposed to drop on March 8, with volume three expected for April 5. Fast forward to July 31 and we still are sitting at just one third of the projects available. However, we all should have seen this coming as Ye’s track record of pushing back albums is nothing new. Its why fans are skeptical once more after Kanye West revealed the third release date for VULTURES 2 moments ago.

Apparently, the hip-hop community can expect it to be out this Friday, August 2. According to multiple reports, yeezy.com was and still is almost completely blank and the only page available on the site read, “ALL ORDERS FULFILLED VULTURES 2 COMING AUGUST 2ND”. Currently, though, that date is now gone. Instead, a timer shows the date and the time down to the millisecond with the “ALL ORDERS FULFILLED” phrase still remaining.

Some have felt that the hype has died out quite a bit in the subsequent months. But with this newest announcement, there will certainly be a lot of fans tuning in whether it’s on the website, on streaming or both. DJ Khaled’s Decked Out Ice Cream Freezer Goes Viral Leading To A Barrage Of Jokes

There might not be another figure in the hip-hop genre that generates more memes than DJ Khaled. You have the unforgettable quotes like, “You played yourself”, “you smart, you loyal”, and of course, “another one”. Also, you cannot forget the countless videos such as the one where he crashes the golf cart and says, “life is like Roblox”. As of recent, though, he might have another one on deck. Across all social media platforms, a video of DJ Khaled’s ice cream freezer is going insanely viral. In fact, according to AllHipHop one repost of it has over 12 million views and counting.

In the clip, Khaled opens up his freezer, which reveals a stash that is almost as big as a small ice cream shop’s. It features tubs of Breyers, pints of Haagen Dazs, Ben & Jerry’s, Jeni’s, as well as dozens of other frozen treats. Before choosing his sweet snack, Khaled calls his son over, Asahd, to help him make a decision. He eventually selects an Oreo popsicle and before the video ends, someone holding the camera hands him a box of Fat Boy ice cream sandwiches (coincidence or staged?).

This has obviously led to a torrential onslaught of fat jokes and jabs, which you see above and below. However, there were also some reactors continuing to point out that Khaled continues to be silent amidst the ongoing Gaza feud. “Whilst his people are literally starving to death he posts this video of his fridge full of ice cream and chocolate”. “He’s not put out 1 video, speaking and showing support and solidarity with his own people. DJ Khaled is a disgrace!”. While some took the time to make fun of Khaled’s diet, others are fed up with the millionaire not making any contributions to the conflict.

JT’s First Week Numbers For “City Cinderella” Stirs Up A Back-And-Forth Debate

On July 19, City Girls rapper JT put full belief in herself to shake things up a bit by dropping City Cinderella. Her debut solo mixtape, powered by singles such as “OKAY”, its remix with Jeezy, and “Sideways”, has been receiving quite the favorable reaction from reviewers. While it isn’t necessarily blowing people out of the water, the scores are very solid. We are in that same boat, as we feel that JT put forth some standout performances and chose some thumping beats. There are moments of repetition, and the features don’t really add much, but overall, it’s a respectable debut.

With it being well over a week now since its release, the final numbers are in for City Cinderella. In terms of sales, it pulled in 26,000, according to That Grape Juice. That is just 1,000 less than the original projection. As for what that means in terms of charting, it slots in at 27th on the Billboard Hot 200. For context, RAW, the City Girls’ last project, did just 6,000. Additionally, it competed with the likes of Childish Gambino and Denzel Curry’s bodies of work that week, and it actually outdueled the latter substantially.

Now that the final stats are in, its causing quite the debate online. On one hand, fans are extremely proud of JT. Their argument is that based on what RAW did, 26,000 is a substantial increase and that progress is progress. Conversely, this stance has some riled up. It’s no secret that Cardi B is taking her sweet time getting her sophomore album out on the open market. 2018 was the year she put out her GRAMMY-winning debut LP, Invasion of Privacy. Since that run in the late 2010s decade, the New York rapper has been going fairly strong thanks to a couple of big singles such as “WAP”, “Up”, as well as several features. With all of this time in between full-length projects, her Barti Gang has been waiting around for the drought to come to an end. You could argue that her staunchest critics want to see the hitmaker do the same, but perhaps for a different reason.

It’s clear it has to do with the fact that she is making headlines because of her constant rants on the industry, politics, and her personal life. Additionally, the haters are fed up with Cardi B’s victim/overly defensive mentality when it comes to receiving any negativity. A lot of people are feeling this way after asserting that her contemporaries are using her as a “marketing plan”. Ice Spice’s “Y2K!” Rating From Pitchfork Has Fans Totally Perplexed

This new wave of female rappers has had a lot of hip-hop fans, especially the purists, upset over their success. Artists like Sexyy Red, GloRilla, Latto, and Saweetie all have an abrasive and raunchy approach that has been nothing but controversial. Listeners continue to highlight that their sex appeal is why they are relevant, while blasting them for their lack of writing and substance. All of these criticisms are certainly being applied to Ice Spice as well. Seeing her immense success has angered the masses, and while the New Yorker might not care about the noise, her debut was set up to quell the hate. In the eyes of Pitchfork, Ice Spice certainly did that with Y2K!.

The music reviewing publication has long been viewed as one of little validity by fans of the genre. That narrative is being pushed once more after they gave Ice Spice’s LP a 7.6 out of 10. It seems that almost everyone has been dragging Y2K!, even labeling it one of the worst projects of the year. However, with this rating, it is officially the highest score out of all of the mainstream rap tapes in 2024. Some Twitter users were asking Hip Hop All Day if ScHoolboy Q’s BLUE LIPS counts. While that certainly is a compelling argument, the Cali rapper does not have the same pull as Ice Spice, especially numbers wise.

In their write-up, Pitchfork does point out the lyrical shortcomings as being the major drawback. However, they feel Ice Spice put forth an album that “sounds like nothing her peers could make, swerving from one sonic inspiration to the next”. They credit her for her “agile and adaptable flow, assembling simple syllables into unusual cadences”. Overall, Pitchfork, deems Y2K! as ambitious and appreciate her willingness to make what she loves, instead of conforming to previous expectations. For context, Ice Spice received higher scores over her mainstream counterparts such as Metro Boomin and Future, Megan Thee Stallion, and Eminem, just to name a few.

Yung Miami’s Song Preview Draws Mixed Reactions, Leading Her To Ask This Question

The City Girls are sort of on hold right now. It’s two members, Yung Miami and JT, are doing their own things. The latter is especially doing so after dropping her solo debut mixtape, City Cinderella. So far, it seems that the general consensus is that the project is quite solid, and we pretty much agree with those reviews. It shows love to the tandem’s riot-worthy sound, but instead you can really feel JT’s presence even more so. With her succeeding, Yung Miami is looking to get back into the swing of things as well, as she recently previewed a new song on her Instagram Live.

Unfortunately, listeners aren’t really feeling all that much. “Girl it’s okay you can’t rap. I can’t either it is what it is ”, one user writes in The Neighborhood Talk comment section. Some are even “politely” asking for Yung Miami to step out of the spotlight and make way for her partner in rhyme. “Now caresha …. Let JT have her moment”.

Haters will discredit it, but overall, the Miami, Florida rapper has a fair point.
