Coi Leray Makes It Clap In Hot New “Bops” Music Video

As promised in the latter half of May, Coi Leray has returned today (June 6) with a long-awaited music video for her “Bops” single – one which includes no shortage of twerking from the 26-year-old. She’s been spending plenty of time shaking her booty as of late. We’ve seen her showing off on Instagram while promoting her quickly approaching sophomore album, COI. Elsewhere, she’s turning up the heat on stage, keeping her energy high while entertaining thousands of fans. Above all else, Leray continues to prove that she’s fully confident in her career as a superstar.

Apart from flaunting her body for the camera, we also see the Boston-born artist flexing some of her material achievements. Among them are Billboard Awards and RIAA plaques, which she happily made it clap in front of while wearing a tiny black thong. Later in the “Bops” video, Leray links up with friends at a party. The group eats plenty of cake and dances along to her hot single.

Upon releasing the @uniqueexvisions-directed effort this afternoon, Leray turned to Instagram to not only share a teaser clip, but also thank the countless people involved in the production, filming, and her glam. The “Players” songstress herself has been labelled as the creative director of the project, proving that she’s highly involved in the details of her work outside of just writing rhymes and dancing along to them.

It remains unclear at this time if the rising star plans to drop another single before COI lands on June 23. We’ve already heard her teasing “Make My Day,” and despite the mixed reception, Leray seems optimistic about the future success of her sophomore release. Check out the salacious “Bops” visual for yourself above, or add the song to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Which of Coi Leray’s 2023 singles has been your favourite so far? RAYE And Coi Leray Get Bloody Revenge In Their Vindictive ‘Flip A Switch’ Video

Aside from their similar names and Uproxx cover features, British singer RAYE and New Jersey rapper Coi Leray have one other thing in common. Neither has any time for noncommital men. In their vindictive song “Flip A Switch,” they not only dismiss a would-be lover after he messes up one too many times, they outright threaten his life, with the title forming a double entendre meaning not just a change in attitude, but also referring to the selector switch on some semiautomatic weapons.

They take things one step further in their newly released video for “Flip A Switch,” which opens with RAYE lying on the floor bleeding out from a gunshot wound to the heart (not subtle, this one). However, the scene plays out in reverse before the song kicks in, implying that we’re going to “flip a switch” on this all-too-familiar narrative. The rest of the video plays out as a bus ride with Coi and RAYE’s girl gang with some neat choreography. Coi’s driving and doing so in a way that makes me think the streets of London are not safe. At the end of the video, they reach their destination, where RAYE turns the tables on her attacker, finishing him off with a shot to the back.

RAYE’s profile is rising rapidly in the states thanks to her new album My 21st Century Blues and impressive performances on shows like Kimmel Live and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Meanwhile, Coi Leray continues to cruise like a high-altitude missile; her video for “Bops” drops later this week and her album Coi is due later this month.

Coi Leray Twerks In The Splits During Summer Jam Performance Before Turning Up In NYC

The drop date for Coi Leray’s sophomore album is nearing closer and closer, and the “TWINNEM” hitmaker’s excitement is obviously growing. She’s had an impressive rollout so far (though the tracklist has left some fans a bit confused), and it’s only getting better as June 23rd approaches. Most recently, the 26-year-old performed in New York on Sunday (June 4), not only giving the crowd big energy while pulling out some of her biggest hits but also showing off some seriously sweet dance moves.

From kung-fu skills to twerking her petite booty in black sweatpants, Leray made it clear she’s been putting in work at the studio. Her backup dancers perfectly kept up with the Massachusets native during her lively set at Hot 97 Summer Jam, causing the crowd to overwhelm them with applause. The multi-talent has since shared a short and sweet recap video on Instagram, captioning it “CoiJAM 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑 @hot97 thank you NY 🗽shout out to @biggtrendsetters !!! @jasnationn you held the team tfff down!!!! I love you!!! 🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑🆑.”

Coi Leray Shows Off Serious Moves at Hot 97 Summer Jam

Earlier today, Leray also gave us a look into her rowdy, post-performance night out on the town, which included plenty of liquor and salacious dancing. In one clip, she and a female friend get up close and personal on the dance floor, and in another, we see how far gone the rising star was by the end of her celebratory night.

She’s already given us singles like “Bops,” “My Body,” and “Players” this year, and we’ve heard a preview of “Make My Day” with David Guetta as well. The latter earned Coi backlash last month for sampling “Pump Up The Jam,” but she seems unbothered by what critics have to say.

This New Music Friday (June 2), Coi Leray teamed up with Metro Boomin for a new song called “Self Love.” It appears on the brand new Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack, along with appearances from other popular rappers like Offset, JID, Don Toliver, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Seeing as her Instagram feed and Story have been lighting up with countless selfies and thirst traps lately, it makes sense why the Boston-born lyricist was picked to put together a confident anthem for the animated film.

Earlier today, Leray turned to social media to celebrate another exciting project she’s got in the works. Wearing a bright pink latex bodysuit, matching gloves, and platform boots, the 25-year-old revealed that she’s officially activated superhero mode. The salacious announcement comes ahead of the arrival of her sophomore album. “GET READY! 👀 @meta 💖🆑,” she added in the caption before reminding her fans that COI is due out on June 23. Leray has already shared a handful of singles from the tracklist. Among them are “My Body” and “Bops,” but many were notably confused when she revealed her full roster of guest features last month.

David Guetta, Saucy Santana, Giggs, Lola Brooke, Skillibeng, and James Brown are all on the list. The latter, specifically, is raising many eyebrows. The “Anxiety” artist has been known to sample throwback hits as of late. It’ll be interesting to see what she has in store with the late funk musician’s discography. On another recently teased single, “Make My Day,” she was criticized for using “Pump Up The Jam,” especially after ranting about oversaturation in the music industry on Twitter recently.

Regardless of what her haters have to say, the genre-bending artist’s fans are more than excited to see what else the rollout for COI has to bring over the coming weeks. Do you think that Coi Leray will top Trendsetter with her sophomore album? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Burna Boy And Davido Will Headline Afro Nation’s 2023 Festival In Detroit

Afro Nation is a relatively new festival but it’s already expanding rapidly — just like the genre it aims to highlight. While the first edition took place in Portugal in 2022, Afro Nation just held its first stateside event in Miami ahead of its return to Europe this summer. Ahead of this weekend’s festivities in Miami, Afro Nation has revealed its next expansion. On August 19 and 29, Afro Nation is taking over the former site of the Brewster-Douglass public housing projects in Detroit, Michigan for its third event of the year.

As with its prior show in Miami, AND will be headlined by Burna Boy, although Wizkid will be replaced with Davido, while they’ll be supported by US stars like Ari Lennox, Coi Leray, Latto, and Masego, as well as rising Nigerian stars Kizz Daniel and sibling duo P-Square. And just like prior iterations, the Detroit event will have an Amapiano stage to showcase some of the South African dance genre’s flourishing DJs along with a comedy show, block party, discussions and panels, and something called a Motown special, paying homage to the city’s musical roots.

Tickets are due to go on sale on Friday, June 2. You can get more information at Afro Nation’s Detroit website.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Coi Leray Confuses Fans With Picture With NBA Trophy

Coi Leray is hard at work promoting and gearing up for her next album COI, but her latest post left many basketball fans confused. Moreover, she posed with an NBA trophy ahead of the Finals, which begin on June 1 pitting the Denver Nuggets against whoever wins between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat (the series is currently 3-2 in the Heat’s favor). “Winnnnnerrrrr @nba x (CL),” she captioned her post with a bizarre set of hashtags. “#TeamCeltics #TeamLebron #WNBAForever.” Given that LeBron and the Los Angeles Lakers lost against the Nuggets, many are urging the rap star to catch up with the news.

Jokes aside, she clearly just wants to show her love and support to a legend despite the disappointing loss. Also, as a Boston native herself, it’s no surprise that Coi Leray’s rooting for her team to make a massive comeback, which is already halfway done. If the Celtics reverse a 3-0 deficit against the Heat, it would be a monumental moment. Still, the series is far from over yet, and the comments filled up with many skeptics of the Massachusetts team’s chances of winning.

However, this isn’t the only big hunk of metal that the 26-year-old posed with recently. While performing at Revolution Saturdays at REBEL in Toronto, she brought our a platinum plaque for her single “Players.” The song, which flips the classic hip-hop track “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, became one of her biggest tracks ever. With other sample-heavy tunes like “Bops” and “Make My Day,” it seems like Coi Leray found a solid recipe for success that fits her style. Despite the confusion that this brought about, the trophy makes one thing clear: right now, no matter the hate, she’s winning.

Still, another post of hers also left fans with a head-scratcher, which was when she revealed the tracklist and features for her upcoming album. Not only are David Guetta and Saucy Santana in the mix, but also Lola Brooke, Skillibeng, Giggs, and the one and only James Brown. Sure, there are some prominent rap names in there, but others have fans wondering what this project will sound like. We’ll have to wait and see how the hitmaker capitalizes on her hype. Coi Leray Teases Upcoming Project With Sultry New Look On Instagram

With her second album COI arriving on June 23, Coi Leray is in heavy promo mode for her next moves. As such, she’s probably very busy shooting visuals, taking press deals, and apparently debuting new looks like the one she just teased. Moreover, the rapper posted an Instagram Reel of her getting ready for what seems like a shoot, whether for a music video or something else entirely. Foregoing her usual long locks, she apparently rocked a short haircut with curls as her team put some hairspray on. Looking sultrily at the camera as her single “Bops” played in the background, she said that there are “good things coming” very soon.

Of course, this is far from the first time that she teased some sort of visual for that song in particular. Just last weekend, Coi Leray and a couple of her friends put on a twerk show for the camera while “Bops” played, yet it’s unclear if it’ll be a part of the music video or if she just built some hype. Regardless, the 26-year-old keeps leveling up and making waves that set the stage for her next moves. We’re only a month away from COI‘s release, but we’re sure that there will be much more to cover from her in that meantime.

Coi Leray’s New Look

However, a lot of fans were left a little confused with the album’s tracklist, which the Boston native revealed on Monday (May 22). Furthermore, a lot of that confusion stems from the features, which don’t include the array of U.S. rappers and hitmakers that appeared on Coi Leray’s debut album Trendsetter. Rather, COI will bring on David Guetta, Saucy Santana, Giggs, Lola Brooke, Skillibeng, and none other than James Brown, somehow. All this points to more genre diversity, but singles like “Players” and the teased “Make My Day” (with Guetta) hint towards heavy sample use, plus a more electronic and dance-inspired direction.

No matter what you think of these teases, it’s clear that the “My Body” MC set herself up for a big splash. Whether she capitalized on the hype remains to be seen, but we’re sure that she’ll continue to make waves no matter what. Until then, we have to find out whether she debuts any other new looks to usher in another era in her career. For the latest news and updates on Coi Leray, stay up to date on HNHH.

Coi Leray’s Diverse And Genre-Spanning ‘Coi’ Tracklist Features David Guetta, James Brown, And More

The release of Coi Leray‘s second studio album, Coi, is still a month away, but that didn’t stop her from sharing the tracklist for the album, which defies genres and finds the New Jersey artist experimenting to her heart’s content. In addition to expected featured artists like the rap-focused Lola Banks and Saucy Santana, the versatile, 15-song tracklist also includes international rising stars like UK grime rapper Giggs and Jamaican dancehall artist Skillibeng. Coi Leray Reveals Sophomore Album Tracklist, Features Leave Fans Confused

On her debut album, Trendsetter, Coi Leray shocked fans with the selection of major artists who appeared on her tracklist. Among them were Nicki Minaj (“Blick Blick”), Lil Durk (“No More Parties [Remix]”), and H.E.R. (“Overthinking”). The project’s first-week sales were relatively low, but regardless, many industry icons were just to publicly congratulate the Massachusetts native on a job well done. In the time since then, Leray has been refining her image while teasing us with a handful of singles throughout 2023. After dropping “Players,” “Bops,” and “My Body,” she finally felt ready to announce the release date of her sophomore album, COI, earlier this month.

Along with the topless cover art, the 26-year-old teased yet another title last week, “Make My Day.” It samples “Pump Up The Jam,” which has been earning her some backlash on social media as critics suggest Leray relies too heavily on sampling throwback hits to ensure virality. She was quick to clap back at them on Twitter and has since continued to move forward with her album rollout, sharing the final tracklist for COI on Monday (May 22).

Leray’s COI Tracklist is Here

The to-be-released in June effort comes with 15 songs, beginning with “Bitch Girl” and closing out with “Come And Go.” While there’s definitely some intrigue generated by Leray’s announcement post, for the most part, many seem surprised by the artists she’s opted to work with this time around. “Wtf are these features omg 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂,” one person reacted to the list, which includes names like James Brown, Saucy Santana, Lola Brooke, and David Guetta.

“Y’all smoking if you think this not a crazy line-up 😂😂🔥🔥🔥,” someone else chimed in, remaining optimistic about Leray’s sophomore album. Which feature on COI are you most excited to hear? Let us know in the comments, and tap back in with HNHH later for more music/pop culture news updates.
