Muni Long Flips “Made For Me” Into A Groovy Amapiano Remix With Yumbs

Muni Long is another artist who is working her way up the ranks and in a hurry. The Vero Beach/Gifford, Florida native is an R&B talent who likes to work in the contemporary lane. However, one of her handful of singles in 2023 was a little bit of a change in sound. “Made For Me” sounds like something that would have released and been a hit in the early 2000s. However it still became one of her most popular songs. Now. Muni Long is bringing a “Made For Me” remix that will knock your socks off as well.

This remix features the same producers such as Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and JordanXL. However, a new face enters the booth. Yumbs is a DJ/producer and he is bringing an amapiano flare to the mix. The slower and more sensual version adds about a minute to the run time.

The smell of your perfume (The smell of your perfume)
I thought I was immune (I thought I was immune)
Lookin’ around this room (Lookin’ around this room)
Can’t help but see the traces of you
This moment is surreal
I can’t put into words how I feel (Feel)

Usher Releases Afrobeats & Amapiano-Inspired Single “Ruin”

Usher Releases Afrobeats & Amapiano-Inspired Single “Ruin”

Multi-Platinum GRAMMY Award-winning artist Usher has dropped his latest single, “Ruin,” infusing Afrobeats and Amapiano into R&B, produced by and featuring Pheelz. The track is a precursor to Usher’s ninth studio album, COMING HOME, set to release on Feb. 9.

Following the success of “Good Good” with 21 Savage and Summer Walker, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales Chart, “Ruin” continues Usher’s exploration of diverse musical influences. “Good Good” also secured Usher’s eighth No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart and dominated multiple major R&B/hip-hop airplay charts.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the creative mind behind Usher’s iconic videos like “U Remind Me” and “Risk It All,” the “Ruin” video captures the essence of love through various scenes, shot entirely on iPhone 15 Pro.

Usher’s upcoming album, COMING HOME, will be released via mega, a music collective founded by Usher and L.A. Reid in collaboration with gamma, a multimedia platform providing creative and business services. The joint venture ensures gamma’s exclusive distribution and marketing of all music released by mega.

What Is Tyla’s ‘Water’ Song About?

Burna Boy, Bad Bunny, and Dua Lipa are part of a wave of international artists who have dominated the American charts. Another is Tyla. Thanks to her viral song, “Water,” the Grammy Award nominee is bringing the flair of Johannesburg, South Africa to every corner of the globe. The song’s fusion of pop, R&B, Afrobeats, and amapiano has made Tyla a new artist to watch.

But what is the song actually about? Let’s just say when Tyla sings the chorus — “Make me sweat, make me hotter / Make me lose my breath, make me water / Make me sweat, make me hotter / Make me lose my breath, make me water” — it’s more than her just being steamy.

Tyla hasn’t said what the record is about, but the lyrics leave little room for interpretation. Fans online have given their attempts at the “Water Challenge,” in which they tried to recreate the drenching dance break in the video. Some offered a theory: It’s about a woman’s desire to reach a squirting orgasm. Unfortunately, Travis Scott didn’t lean into the concept when he appeared on the song’s official remix.

This wouldn’t be the first time a raunchy sex song was cleverly masked by poetic songwriting. Aaliyah’s “Rock The Boat,” Britney Spears’ “If U Seek Amy,” and Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” are just a few examples.

Read users on X’s (formerly Twitter) reactions to the now viral theory.

Burna Boy And Davido Will Headline Afro Nation’s 2023 Festival In Detroit

Afro Nation is a relatively new festival but it’s already expanding rapidly — just like the genre it aims to highlight. While the first edition took place in Portugal in 2022, Afro Nation just held its first stateside event in Miami ahead of its return to Europe this summer. Ahead of this weekend’s festivities in Miami, Afro Nation has revealed its next expansion. On August 19 and 29, Afro Nation is taking over the former site of the Brewster-Douglass public housing projects in Detroit, Michigan for its third event of the year.

As with its prior show in Miami, AND will be headlined by Burna Boy, although Wizkid will be replaced with Davido, while they’ll be supported by US stars like Ari Lennox, Coi Leray, Latto, and Masego, as well as rising Nigerian stars Kizz Daniel and sibling duo P-Square. And just like prior iterations, the Detroit event will have an Amapiano stage to showcase some of the South African dance genre’s flourishing DJs along with a comedy show, block party, discussions and panels, and something called a Motown special, paying homage to the city’s musical roots.

Tickets are due to go on sale on Friday, June 2. You can get more information at Afro Nation’s Detroit website.

Asake Announces His Upcoming Album ‘Work Of Art’ With The Party-Starting ‘Amapiano’ Featuring Olamide

In September 2022, Nigerian afrobeats singer https://uproxx.com/music/asake-yoga-organise-the-tonight-show/ released his debut album Mr. Money With The Vibe in what capped off an excellent year for him. He took over the afrobeats world with records like “Sungba,” “Peace Be Unto You (PBUY),” “Terminator,” and “Organise” while Mr. Money With The Vibe was heralded by some as the afrobeats album of the year. While some, like myself, may have expected Asake to spend this year crafting his next project, the singer is way ahead of schedule as he announced his second album Work Of Art.

That announcement came with the release of “Amapiano” featuring Olamide, a respected afrobeats singer who signed Asake to his YBNL Nation label. It makes for their second collaboration following last year’s “Omo Ope,” and for their latest record, Asake and Olamide deliver what is undoubtedly a track perfect to start your summer parties. More records like that will be available on Asake’s upcoming album as it will arrive with 14 tracks to its name including “2:30,” “Yoga,” and the newly-released “Amapiano.” The artwork for Work Of Art, which arrives on June 16, depicts a joyous Asake in front of a pair of paintings.

You can listen to “Amapiano” and check out the artwork for Work Of Art above.

Work Of Art is out 6/16 via YBNL Nation & EMPIRE. Find more information here.
