Chet Hanks Called Out ‘Deplorable’ Far-Right Hate Groups For Using ‘White Boy Summer’ As A Slogan For Racist Propaganda

Chet Hanks is not a sympathetic figure. The son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson has made a brand out of publicly stepping in it. In early 2021, he coined “White Boy Summer” with a rap song of the same name, which did not impress Dionne Warwick yet earned him a record deal with Soulja Boy. Three years later, Hanks (who also goes by Chet Hanx) appears to be distancing himself from the song.

On Wednesday, July 2, the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism published statistical findings showing how “White Boy Summer” became a slogan for hate groups. Hanks responded to the report on Wednesday, July 3.

“White boy summer was created to be fun, playful, and a celebration of fly white boys who love beautiful queens of every race,” Hanks wrote on Instagram. “Anything else that it has been twisted into to support any kind of hate or bigotry against any group of people is deplorable, and I condemn it. I hope that we all can spread love to each other and treat each other with kindness and dignity. Love, Chet Hanks.”

Specifically, the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism relayed, “Over the past couple months, white supremacists and neo-Nazis have been calling for the destruction of Pride flags, killing ‘n*****s and communists,’ and the creation of ‘more militia[s]’ all under one slogan: ‘White Boy Summer.’ Several extremist groups including the Proud Boys, White Lives Matter, the Identitarian movement in Europe, and neo-Nazi Active Clubs are all using ‘White Boy Summer’ to spread propaganda, recruit new members, and facilitate targeted hate campaigns including acts of vandalism and hate incidents.”

While Hanks did the right thing by publicly condemning such bigotry and racism, he has not always handled it correctly. In 2015, Hanks defended his past use of racial slurs in a truly indefensible way.

In 2022, Hanks appeared on Ziwe, and the show’s namesake host asked Hanks about his cultural appropriation and whether there were “any marginalized communities you want to apologize to,” and his response was pretty insensitive. “I don’t feel like I’ve truly done anything offensive,” he told Ziwe, adding that “social justice warriors can kick rocks.”

That was two years ago, so the hope is that his posting on Instagram indicates growth and was not posted with convenient or performative intent.

Tom Hanks Had The Most Dad Response To Chet Hanks’ Text About The Drake And Kendrick Lamar Beef

Tom Hanks is generally regarded as a generational actor and among the most pleasant celebrities alive, so it checks out that Hanks was profoundly confused by Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef, which hit apex earlier this month with back-and-forth diss tracks, including Lamar’s Billboard Hot 100 chart-topperNot Like Us.”

On Monday morning, May 20, Chet Hanks, one of Tom Hanks’ four children, posted screenshots to his Instagram Story showing an endearingly funny text exchange with his father.

“Big Main, can you explain the Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud to me?” Hanks is shown to have texted Chet.

Chet’s reply needed a second screenshot to be captured in its entirety, as he was very thorough (and slightly erratic). All his father could muster in response was, “Holy cow! These are fighting words. People taking sides?? Who’s winning??” Chet shot back several laugh-crying emojis alongside, “Did you not just read what I said[?]”

To be fair, as lengthy as Chet’s text was, it is impossible to sum up the Drake-Kendrick saga via iMessage. Seth Rogen even struggled to adequately assess the various moving parts, though he did definitively declare Drake as the loser. Meanwhile, J. Cole made it out blissfully unscathed after removing himself from the beef in April.

Chet Hanks Hilariously Explains The Drake Vs. Kendrick Lamar Beef To His Father Tom Hanks

The Hanks family is now weighing in on Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s rap feud. Tom Hanks recently reached out to his 33-year-old son, Chet Hanks, for an explanation of the entire scandal because he felt left out of the loop about the all-consuming cultural event the beef has become. Chet Hanks has shared that his father had asked him to explain everything that had happened. He shared the hilarious text chain where he broke it down for his pops on Instagram.

Chet shared screen grabs of the text exchange on his Story, revealing that his father, whom he refers to endearingly as “Pops,” had messaged him, asking, “Big Main, could you please explain the Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud to me?” After the dispute between Kendrick Lamar and Drake became viral, it’s understandable that an ordinary person couldn’t keep up with every detail. Tom Hanks wasn’t keeping a close eye on everything that happened because he is Tom Hanks. Thankfully, Chet, who himself is a rapper, was there to explain the monumental feud to his pops.

Naturally, Chet began a long summary of the rappers’ dispute, pointing out that since Drake’s “Push Ups” in April and May, each of them has been releasing a slew of diss recordings targeted at the other. Next up were K. Dot’s “Euphoria,” “6:16 in L.A.” and “Meet the Grahams,” along with Drizzy’s since-deleted “Taylor Made Freestyle,” “Family Matters,” and “The Heart Pt. 6.” Chet explained Kendircks mega hit diss “Not Like Us,” saying, “pretty much the sonic equivalent of when you took me to your high school in Oakland and we walked in on the basketball game and everybody started going nuts.”

“Like if you heard it you would just automatically know how to Crip walk with a stank face while clutching an Oscar in each hand with Marshawn Lynch,” Chet added. “Then dap him up and tell him ‘Town Bidness’ which solidified the win not only for Kendrick but the entire West Coast.” Chet Hanks is sometimes problematic and sometimes just hilarious. His explanation of the Drake-Kendrick beef is hilarious. Tom Hanks replied “Holy cow!” He added, “These are fighting words. People taking sides?? Who’s winning??” His son hilariously replied, “Did you not just read what I said,” with several crying emojis.

Chet Hanks Covers Summer Walker’s “Session 32”: Watch

Chet Hanks is best known for being the son of Forrest Gump actor Tom Hanks, and for keeping us laughing with his antics on social media. Though his past hasn’t been perfect, in recent years, the nepo baby has put in serious work on changing his life for the better. His Instagram profile lately has been relatively quiet, though he did end 2023 with a wholesome picture posing with pops. Aside from that, Hanks is also working on music again, covering an R&B classic from Atlanta’s own Summer Walker on Tuesday (January 23).

“Little Summer in the winter, ‘Session 32,’” the entertainer wrote in his caption. He made the song his own by plucking on his guitar while singing. The pink sunset behind him helped set the smooth vibe he was obviously going for. In the comments, friends and fans are encouraging him to keep experimenting with his sound. “I thought this was Frank Ocean,” one user joked. “[I know] Chet’s a real bass player ‘cuz when tf was the last time he changed them strings 😂,” another person laughed.

Chet Hanks Brings Us Summer in the Winter

Expression through singing seems to be helping Hanks tremendously at this stage in his healing journey. “Woke up and wrote my first song,” he told his IG followers in a post in early December. “I was not expecting Chet Hanks to have such a beautiful voice,” one comment on that upload reads.

While reactions to Chet Hanks’ cover of a Summer Walker fan favourite roll in, the Still Over It songstress is teasing us with another potential SZA collab. At the end of December, she shared some snippets of what she might sound like on “Hit Different,” which came out via the TDE signee, Ty Dolla Sign, and The Neptunes in 2020. Check those vocals out at the link below, and tell us what you’d like to hear Chet sing next in the comments.

Chet Hanks Allegedly Fights Off Burgular At LA Home

Chet Hanks reportedly subdued a 42-year-old man earlier this week after discovering him attempting to enter his home. According to an LA County Sherriff’s report, Hanks had physically subdued the suspect, who continued to resist arrest once the authorities had arrived. This, according to law enforcement, ended with one deputy suffering a broken leg after the man fell on top of him. All of this occurred around 3:00AM this past Monday. The man has been charged with attempt burglary and the case has been passed onto the LA County District Attorney. However, it remains a developing story.

Hanks, the son of legendary actor Tom Hanks, has become an internet meme in recent years. Chet is a brash, outspoken Republican who is seemingly completely at odds with his quieter and more dignified father. Back in 2021, Hanks expressed a desire to fight DJ Vlad over comments that the controversial interviewer had made about him. Hanks has not yet released a statement of his own about the break-in at this home.

Hanks Spotted With MMA Fighter Beau During Quiet 2023

Furthermore, maybe Hanks’ love life is the source of his viligante-esque prowess. Hanks has been dating amateur MMA fighter Melissa Maysing since 2022. He was present at her debut fight in December of last year and the pair were seen canoodling on the beach this summer. Maysing has a fairly sizeable following on Instagram as a fitness influencer and started to pursue a career as an MMA fighter last year. However, there is very little information available about her career at this time.

Hanks has mostly kept a low profile in 2023, after becoming very visible in the public eye over the past few years. He made appearances on The Eric Andre Show and The Adam Friedland Show. However, that appears to be the extent of his major on-screen appearances for 2023. During the appearance on Adam Friedland’s show, Hanks revealed that he was two years sober at the time of recording.

Chet Hanks Calls Eric André A “P*ssy” After Comedian Labels Him “Emotionally Disturbed”

Upon hearing what Eric André had to say about him in a Rolling Stone interview earlier this week, Chet Hanks has a few words of his own for the comedian. As you may recall, the former recalled his experience working on his self-titled show with the controversial actor, who reportedly nearly put several members of the cast and crew in danger with his reckless antics. “He broke our crew. It felt like ‘Rust.’ He broke us down,” the Bad Trip star explained, drawing comparison to the fatal incident that took place on the set of Alec Baldwin’s movie in 2021.

“[Chet] is… emotionally disturbed. He stole a motorcycle and rode it around. He almost knocked a bunch of grips and gaffers off their ladders,” André added, specifically dishing on the incident that put Hanks in his bad book. “He’s not well. How did Colin Hanks come out so good and Chet Hanks come out so bad?” he went on, also expressing gratitude that his creative control allowed him to “edit out all [the] bullshit.”

Chet Hanks Claps Back

Rather than doing an interview of his own, Hanks handled things in a much more casual manner, addressing André on his Instagram Story. According to the father of one’s version of events, he “outshined” the 39-year-old on his own show, and was just trying to match up to his “weird, outlandish, troll” characters. Elsewhere, Chet described his former collaborator as “soft” and “easily scared,” even asserting that he had no idea Eric was “such a p*ssy 🤣.”

Hanks later added, “There’s a lot of f*cking weirdos in Hollywood, but I didn’t think you were one of them. I thought you were funny and cool but turns out you’re just a p*ssy.” Once André got wind of this, he couldn’t help but come back with some verbal warfare of his own. “Everything Chet Hanks just said about me is a f*cking bald-faced lie,” the multi-talent insisted. “He’s a f*cking liar. And I dare him to take a f*cking DNA test and prove that Tom Hanks is his f*cking father.” See for yourself in the video above, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Chet Hanks Is “Emotionally Disturbed” And “Not Well,” Eric André Claims

Some “nepo babies,” such as Gigi Hadid, have made wildly successful careers for themselves by taking advantage of the opportunities their famous families have afforded them. Others, however, seem to crumble under the pressure of being in the spotlight (often from a young age), taking dark and troubling routes rather than coasting through Hollywood with ease. A star who seems to fall into the latter category is Chet Hanks, son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.

While he has had some noteworthy acting roles over the years, the 32-year-old’s name is often embroiled in controversy, showing him in a negative light. He’s previously been accused of cultural appropriation after going viral several times while speaking in a Jamaican accent on social media, and now, Eric André is spilling on his time spent working with Hanks. During a recent conversation with Rolling Stone, the comedian described the Your Honor star as “emotionally disturbed,” among other things.

Eric’s Experience Working with Chet Hanks

“Chet Hanks was a tough cookie,” André recalled of working with the California native on his self-titled show. “He broke our crew. It felt like ‘Rust.’ He broke us down,” the 39-year-old further explained, comparing Hanks to Alec Baldwin’s western film that was shut down several months back after the unexpected death of Halyna Hutchins on set. Apparently, the environment he created on the Eric André Show was equally as “dangerous” and could’ve seriously injured other cast and crew members.

The Bad Trip star went on to share that “[Chet] is… emotionally disturbed. He stole a motorcycle and rode it around. He almost knocked a bunch of grips and gaffers off their ladders.” Thankfully, André’s creative control allowed him to “edit out all [the] bullshit” Hanks pulled off while trying to prank Eric back. “He’s not well. How did Colin Hanks come out so good and Chet Hanks come out so bad?” the Florida native pondered.

Actor Reportedly Tried to Sleep with Ziwe

Elsewhere in his interview, André alleged that Chet Hanks tried to sleep with talk show host Ziwe, who he previously went to school with. “I talked to Ziwe about it. God, what a guy. Now he’s the executive producer on the show and the president of Adult Swim,” the funny man quipped. Just last year, the embattled entertainer appeared on the female host’s Showtime series, at which time he went viral for his various on-screen antics. See for yourself in the video above, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Soulja Boy Tops Off ‘White Boy Summer’ By Signing Chet Hanks To His Record Label

Chet Hanks, the son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has certainly had his fair share of viral moments this past year. Between ranting about the COVID vaccine, declaring this summer as “White Boy Summer,” and sliding into Adele’s DMs, the oftentimes cringe-worthy and controversial celebrity has surprising still found the time to work on his music (yes, he’s also a rapper). His work has certainly paid off as Soulja Boy just named Hanks the newest addition to his SODMG Records label.

Soulja and Hanks broke the news in a joint video posted to Instagram. Soulja said Hanks is the first rapper signed to SODMG this year, and they apparently have big plans. “It’s going down,” Soulja Boy said in the announcement. “We about to make history.”

Of course, Hanks isn’t alone when it comes to viral moments this year. His now-business partner Soulja has also been making headlines recently. Just last week, the rapper went viral when someone on Instagram shared a video accusing him of buying fake jewelry at the mall. Soulja wasn’t happy about the accusations, so he invited the user to join him on Instagram Live. The conversation quickly became heated, with Soulja continuously insisting the jewelry was genuine. “That mothaf*cka $35,000. The Rollie $30,000. Everything over there real,” Soulja said. “They sell real ice in the mall, clout chasin’ ass p*ssy ass.”
