Jason Lee, founder of the media brand Hollywood Unlocked, has won the District 6 seat on the Stockton City Council, marking a return to his childhood hometown. Lee, who first led in the March primary with nearly 42% of the vote, clinched the general election against incumbent Kimberley Warmsley with 55.7% of the total vote, according to Stocktonia.

Jason Lee Of Hollywood Unlocked Wins Councilman Race In California

Jason Lee, of Hollywood Unlocked fame, has won the race for Councilman of Stockton, California’s sixth district. He was able to do so with 55.7% of the vote over his opponent, Kimberly Warmsley. The victory came amid a night of disappointment for Democrats, as Donald Trump easily secured a Republican win for the presidency.

Lee previously discussed his decision to get into politics during an interview with BET. “It’s very different from being in the media and covering pop culture to being in politics. When I talk on Hollywood Unlocked, people are going to like my opinion or not,” Lee explained to the publication, last month. “But when you’re in the streets trying to tackle homelessness, trying to make the streets safer for kids, making sure people live in market-rate housing, and have a community that can thrive again, it’s a very different experience.”

He added: “Running for office took me back to my days of working for the union, which I did for 11 years at [the Service Employees International Union]. This is real purposeful work. I’m not saying the work I do at Hollywood Unlocked isn’t purpose-driven, but being able to help people in my community where I grew up, where my family still lives, [and] where I’ve moved back to is where the heart is. It’s my passion.”

On the other side of the country, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis also made headlines for winning her bid for reelection. On top of the presidency, the Associated Press reports that Republicans have won control of the U.S. Senate as well. Be on the lookout for further updates on Jason Lee on HotNewHipHop.

California Legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, And Kendrick Lamar’s Music Made Its Way Into The State’s 2024 DNC Roll Call

Snoop Dogg was one of the most talked about non-competing Team USA members. His advocacy reportedly earned him a hefty seven figure check. Before cashing checking for commentary work, the “Gin And Juice” rapper’s music brought home the bacon.

Today (August 20), at the 2024 Democratic National Convention his home state honored his early career. During California’s roll call, led by Governor Gavin Newsom, its delegates subtly paid tribute to several hip-hop legends from the Golden State. As Newsom delivered his speech (viewable here) to advocate for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, songs from California legends Dr. Dre, the late Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, and of course, Snoop Dogg played in the background.

Although none of the living acts were present to perform their classic tracks, that didn’t stop viewers at home from performing karaoke to the instrumentals. Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” featuring Snoop Dogg, Tupac’s “California Love” featuring Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” and “Not Like Us,” all made the state’s unofficial 2024 DNC playlist.

California wasn’t the only state to lean on hits from beloved natives. As a proud product of Atlanta, Lil Jon threw his support behind the Georgia delegates with a performance of his song “Turn Down For What” with DJ Snake.

The “Lake Fire” has devastated over 13,000 acres within days and is now threatening the iconic Neverland Ranch, once home to Michael Jackson. By Sunday, the blaze was within one mile of the 2,700-acre property, reported RMG News.

The fire first igniting on Friday at 3:48 p.m. southeast of Santa Maria has prompted evacuation orders for Figueroa Mountain Road, Tunnel Road, and the Figueroa Campground.

Neverland Ranch, owned by Jackson from 1988 until he died in 2009, was purchased by billionaire Ron Burkle for $22 million in 2020. The rapidly advancing fire poses a significant threat to this historic estate, highlighting the urgent need for firefighting efforts to contain the blaze and protect the surrounding areas.

Billboard Of Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” Concert Appears In California

Kendrick Lamar not only took down one of the titans of the rap game in Drake, but he also unified an entire segment of the genre. The iconic Compton, California MC did so through orchestrating an incredible one-time concert called The Pop Out – Ken and Friends. It took place a few weeks ago, and it is still fresh in a lot of fans’ minds. Honestly, it will probably never be forgotten amongst the community, as it generated amazing moments galore. To help immortalize The Pop Out even more, a billboard reusing the photo of Kendrick Lamar and other West Coast greats has now appeared in Inglewood.

Complex‘s Instagram account shared the image, and it is equally awesome as the original picture. It also borrows the “Not Like Us” title in a clever and simple way with the billboard reading, “Us.” Below that, you can see that it was a collaboration with Lamar’s pgLang label, Amazon Music, among other entities. This really signifies how impactful this victory was even beyond one rapper. When Kendrick rapped on “euphoria”, “I’m what the culture feelin’“, it is incredible how accurate that statement is.

While the debate between who won between him and Drake is totally out of the question, the only thought that now remains is, “When will the “Not Like Us” video drop? Just like The Pop Out, it figures to be another major moment in this event-packed timeline. Kendrick’s victory lap can last as long as it wants in our opinion.

What are your thoughts on this Kendrick Lamar Pop Out billboard in Inglewood, California? Is this event going to go down as one of the most iconic moments in hip-hop history, why or why not? Is this West Coast officially on top of the rap world right now? Do you think he will drop a music video for “Not Like Us” sooner than later? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Kendrick Lamar. Wack 100 Claims Drake Is Still Safe In California Despite Kendrick Battle

Drake has been living in a “Not Like Us” world. The rapper has been drowned up by Kendrick Lamar’s number one diss record. Especially in California. Lamar’s “Pop Out” show solidified him as the king of the West Coast, and even alluded to Drake’s “California love” running out on the aforementioned song. “You think the Bay gon’ let you disrespect ‘Pac, n**ga” he spit. “That Oakland show might be your last stop, n**ga.” According to Wack 100, however, the truth is less severe.

The music executive recently went on DJ Akademiks’ live stream to discuss Drake’s California status. He told Ak that there’s a man named Wacko in Compton called for a ceasefire during the rap beef. “[He’s] a very influential dude,” Wack 100 claimed. “Impeccable track record. He’s the one that called the dog, to where [there was] no more diss records.” The executive also made note of the fact that Wacko was in the now iconic photo that Lamar took onstage during the “Pop Out” show. Wack 100 went on to explain that Wacko’s reputation allowed him to exert control over Lamar’s camp, and ensure that things go too far in the Drake conflict.

Wack 100 Says L.A. Veterans Ensured Drake’s Safety

Wack 100 then clarified what was on Ak’s and everybody’s mind. Yes, apparently Drake is fine to move around on the West Coast. “If they respect Wacko enough to communicate with him, and Kendrick and them respect Wacko,” the executive noted. “Of course Drake can come to California and L.A. and still move around. Ain’t nobody looking to do anything to Drake.” It’s worth noting that Wack 100 has been pro-Drake, and anti-Kendrick Lamar, in the past. The executive claimed that Drake was beating Lamar after the Compton emcee dropped “Euphoria.” Wack 100 felt that Lamar’s diss lacked energy, and was repetitive given what Pusha T had said about Drake in years prior.

That being said, Wack 100 changed his tune. Lamar’s subsequent releases, coupled with the “Pop Out,” made him a believer. Wack also pointed to Lamar’s co-signs as a big reason as to why Drake’s own diss, “Family Matters,” has aged poorly. “A huge L for Drake,” he admitted. The worst part about that was YG. [Drake] name-drops him. Drake can never perform that song and mention YG’s name.” Drizzy may be spiraling, but at least he’s safe.

Jay-Z & Beyonce Lose $200 Million Real Estate Record To Founder Of Oakley

Jay-Z and Beyonce are undoubtedly the king and queen of the current day music industry. From selling millions of records to packing arenas and all of the entrepreneurial endeavors, they really run things around here. However, what they cannot add to their nearly unbeatable resumes is being in possession of the most expensive house in California. According to HipHopDX, Jay-Z and Beyonce have just lost the real estate record to the founder of Oakley, James Jannard. Multiple reports say that the head honcho over at the sportswear company recently sold his $210 million Malibu mansion, surpassing Hov and Bey’s $200 million palace in the same suburb.

Jannard purchased the luxurious pad for $75 million back in 2012 (back when the market was much more reasonable). It apparently possesses eight bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, on top of 9.5 acres in land, which includes 300 feet of ocean frontage. Furthermore, the new owner will also be able to enjoy an expansive courtyard, in addition to a gym and two guesthouses. According to the New York Post, Jannard’s spot has never hit the open market and the person behind this lavish purchase is still unknown.

Travis Scott’s $23.5 Million Cali Mansion In Danger Of Damages Due To Severe Amounts Of Rain

Travis Scott has grinded hard over the course of his over decade-long career. The Houston, Texas rapper has gone from a Kanye West underling to a massively influential artist. He essentially created the psychedelic trap subgenre creating massive pieces of sonic art. From Rodeo, to ASTROWORLD, to 2023’s UTOPIA, La Flame has perfected and experimented with his craftsmanship. All of this musical success has led him to be able to explore other lanes of business. Just recently, he unveiled Cacti Park. It is a baseball field in West Palm Beach that will play host to MLB Spring Training games. All of that money has most likely allowed Travis Scott to purchase an expensive California mansion.

Scott is always talking about living in the hills in his songs and lives out that fascination in reality. The 31-year-old superstar possesses a massive $23.5 million mansion in Brentwood. It sits stunningly on the side of hill with a gorgeous view of the neighborhood below. However, Scott’s estate could be in some trouble.

All of this accumulates into dangerous and weathered conditions for Scott’s mansion on the hill. In the video above you can see the massive crack just feet away from it. Even more rain is expected this week and with the cracks already in about four feet of topsoil, an evacuation could be in order for Travis and the other residents on the same landscape.
