Angela Simmons Issues Second Apology For Gun Purse At BET Awards

Angela Simmons has had a rough 48 hours. The reality star turned heads at the BET Awards when she brought a bedazzled gun purse onto the red carpet. She not only showed off the gun purse, but posed with it as though it was actually a gun. She aimed it at photographers, which didn’t go over well, to say the least. Simmons was criticized for her fashion choice, and tried to quiet the situation by issuing an apology video. Evidently, the reality felt that more needed to be said.

Angela Simmons posted a lengthy written apology to Instagram on July 1. She explained her reasoning for bringing out the gun purse, and acknowledged why it may not have been a great idea in retrospect. “I deeply regret that this item, which symbolizes a gun, was inappropriate and insensitive,” she wrote over a black background. “Especially given my personal and community experiences with gun violence.” She claimed that she merely intended for the purse to “amplify” her beauty, but now views the accessory as a “bad decision.”

Simmons didn’t stop there. She then detailed the ways in which gun violence has impacted her life. “I have personally lost my partner, the father of my child, to gun violence,” she added. “I have witnessed its devastating impact on my community in Southeast Queens.” From there, Angela Simmons listed the ways in which she has fought gun violence. “My work with Erica Ford,” she explained. “And my own organization that creates programs to reduce gun violence and helps those directly impacted by the pandemic, have always been about making peace a lifestyle.”

The reality star wrapped up her statement by restating her apology. “I ask for your understanding and forgiveness,” she wrote. “And I hope that you can accept my sincere apology.” She referred to the gun purse as a “misstep” and promised that she would not let it impact the positive work she’s done. “I will not allow it to define my moral compass,” she subsequently wrote. “Or my commitment to promoting peace and ending gun violence.”

BET Apologizes To Usher Over Dramatic Audio Issues During Acceptance Speech

BET has issued an apology to Usher after his acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement award was plagued with audio issues. In a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson said the organization “couldn’t be more grateful” for his appearance and offered fans access to his uninterrupted speech on BET’s platforms online.

“Celebrating global icon Usher on our stage with a star-studded tribute and having him accept his award with a heartfelt speech was an honor,” the spokesperson said. “Due to an audio malfunction during the live telecast, portions of his speech were inadvertently muted. We extend our sincere apologies to Usher as we couldn’t be more grateful for his participation in culture’s biggest night. Fans can catch his full uninterrupted speech across BET platforms and tonight’s encore on BET.”

Usher focused his 13-minute speech on the value of family and the importance of forgiveness. “We’ve got to be willing to forgive. We’ve got to be willing to be open,” he said at one point. “I’m telling you, you’re standing before a man who had to forgive a man who never showed up ever. And look what I made with it. Shannon Sharpe continues to build a media empire. From his work on ESPN with First Take to his unfiltered podcast Club Shay Shay, there are not many bigger than him in the business. With that pull comes a lot of responsibility as well and sometimes his personality can lead to chaos. For example, he Unc made some questionable comments about Houston, Texas rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion. In late November of last year, Shannon Sharpe was down bad for the “Savage” hitmaker on his second podcast, Nightcap.

The NFL Hall-Of-Famer was just saying anything and everything about her, talking about what he would do to the MC in the bedroom. “I’d have her stretched out like quarter to three”, Sharpe said to his co-host and former NFL wideout, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. “I do it three ways, Ocho: deep, hard, and continuously… I’d have her opening up like saloon doors”. He even added that “she has knees like Barry Sanders”. Megan’s fans and other listeners alike were quite disgusted by the 56-year-old’s NSFW comments.

PartyNextDoor has clarified that he has “nothing by love” for Chris Brown, Jeremih, and Bryson Tiller after seemingly dissing the three on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend. In a since-deleted post, he wrote: “I’m finna make these n***as cry… Bryson Chris; and Jeremih… enjoy, the nights, of your life. Doing videos, at 34, that b***h broke. I know 5 rnb singers who broke.” The comments came after his ex, Desma, made an appearance in the music video for the group’s collaboration, “Wait On It.”

After Party deleted the post, Brown came out and claimed that the OVO Sound singer attempted to apologize to him behind the scenes. “N****s speak without thinking sometimes… then call around to my people trying to retract sh*t,” he wrote on X. “NAW N***A, go on your socials and apologize or keep that same energy when you see me.” Hours later, Party posted: “To be clear, I got nothing but love n respect for those guys…. sh*t happens.”

In the replies to Party’s post, numerous fans trolled him by making reference to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us,” which was released amid his feud with Drake. One user wrote: “And Party at the party playing with his nose now. Chris Brown wants a public apology from PartyNextDoor after the singer called him as well as Bryson Tiller and Jeremih out on X (formerly Twitter). 50 Cent’s Friend Meets With Meek Mill’s Camp To Apologize For Dissing Him

We all know that 50 Cent and Meek Mill don’t always get along, but it seems like their spats have been enough to rope their entourages in. Moreover, some folks on both MCs’ camp have launched some scathing attacks against the latter, including Fif’s friend Mike Knox’s disses against the Philly MC. However, everyone is always capable of acknowledging when they’ve gone too far, and while the two rappers might not be letting bygones be bygones here, hopefully they take inspiration from their crews. Knox apparently met with one of Meek’s friends to apologize for his actions and forge a better bond.

“We just bumped into each other,” 50 Cent’s friend Mike Knox told Meek Mill’s friend. “We had a serious conversation about this situation with Meek and how I was out of pocket, how I was wrong, right? How I was f***ed up, how I was disrespectful. I wasn’t on man time, how I got caught up in the bulls**t with the Instagram and being disrespectful. We had something going on together where we always supposed to do something together and switch, and I got on some bulls**t. Right, with the Meek Mill hate train, with the disrespect and with saying anything that wasn’t supposed to be said on a man’s time. And as a man, I apologize. I was wrong, it shouldn’t have happened. It’s not going to happen again, that’s not how we move, that’s not how we handle s**t. As a man, Meek, I apologize. As a man, [Meek’s friend], I apologize, and this s**t won’t happen no more.”

Furthermore, Meek Mill also has some other rap beefs to handle, such as a reignited feud with Soulja Boy. Folks may remember that he got a lot of recent flack for his alleged connection to the Diddy accusations, and many clowned him for his supposed relationship with him. It all became a pretty nasty affair, and one that Meek’s had to deal with for a while now. Hopefully this move from the 50 Cent camp inspires some more reconciliation.

Meanwhile, 50 Cent recently fell victim to a Twitter hack that made $720K in minutes off of a cryptocurrency scam. He probably has more worries about that right now than about Meek Mill. We’ll see if they actually make up at some point in the future in a more grand and official manner. But props to their circle for opening those conversations.

Shaq Apologizes To Drake & Explains His Recent “BBL Drizzy” Post

There’s not a corner of pop culture or entertainment that the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef hasn’t hit on yet, and its presence in sports is quite a curious one. Many NBA teams, for example, used these disses to warm up for playoff games, and the competitive nature of the feud inspired a lot of takes from sports commentators. In fact, we even saw Shaq have a little bit of fun by parodying the “BBL Drizzy” beat on Inside The NBA alongside Chuck, Kenny, and Ernie. But Shaquille O’Neal recently had to explain a bizarre edited picture that he posted of him chilling on a boat with presumably his girl or a female friend… with the 6ix God’s face placed over hers and “BBL Drizzy” playing in the background.

“Let me apologize right quick,” Shaq’s explanation of the whole thing began during his latest episode of The Big Podcast. “I sent out a picture the other day. The mistake I made was that I should’ve said, ‘Who did this?’ Because I want Drake to know… Listen, Drake has a great sense of humor, so I thought it was funny that they did it. I don’t want him to think -– like, I saw ‘Shaq’s trolling.’ No, I’m not trolling.

“No, I didn’t Photoshop it,” Shaq continued. “Somebody Photoshopped it and I actually saw it and I took the picture. So, Drake, I apologize. I should have put ‘Who was this?’ on there, because I don’t want you to think I did that. Somebody sent it to me, I thought it was funny and hopefully you thought it was funny, too. But once it went viral, I definitely took it down. But, so, my bad, big Drake.”

Meanwhile, Drake is already moving onto bigger fish to fry, and has some song of the summer contenders with his new collabs with Camila Cabello. But folks are still spreading a lot of memes and hilarious content about the Kendrick Lamar battle, and we’re sure that Shaq has many other takes on it. Recently, the songstress sat down for an interview with Carlos King, who didn’t shy away from throwing plenty of shade JR’s way. King mocked JR’s appearance, referring to him as “Colonel Sanders” multiple times. He even accused Braxton of trying to keep her engagement on the low by hiding her ring. She laughed off the jokes at the time, though his reaction to the debacle appears to have made her reconsider.

Shortly after the interview, JR took to social media to share his take on the jokes, making it clear that he didn’t appreciate the fact that nobody came to his defense. “Your shade creates uncertainty and your people thrive on stating what you never say,” he said in part. “I’m too graceful and that’s coming to an end.”

Boosie Badazz says he expects Diddy to use his apology for assaulting Cassie in 2016 as an intro to a future song. Boosie discussed the security footage CNN published earlier this month that shows Diddy appearing to throw Cassie to the ground and kick her during an interview with VladTV.

Speaking about Diddy’s apology, Boosie painted a picture of a scenario where the Bad Boy mogul is trying to make a comeback in a number of years. “I feel like that was the intro to a song,” Boosie said. “I feel like [in] five years you gon’ hear that on one of his comeback songs…That was an intro.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Boosie discussed the video itself and labeled Diddy a “sick” individual. When Vlad suggested that Diddy chasing after Cassie was the worst part of the situation, Boosie countered: “That’s not the bad part, him chasing her down. Him kicking her on that ground, like, you kick somebody in the face, you’re motherf*cking– you sick man. A woman, you sick bro. I was pissed. I was like, ‘Damn, Diddy.’” He later added: “Man, all you gotta do is restrain the woman. Grab them hands and hold them hands down. I don’t think a woman can make you mad enough to do that, I don’t think nothing can make you mad enough to– That was some sick sh*t… I think when you do something like that, that’s not the first time. That’s got to be, it’s a pattern man. It’s just like when you whoop a n***a ass or get in a fight with n****s. You get better and better.”

Last week, footage of Diddy seemingly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie went viral, prompting countless social media users and peers to chime in. Unsurprisingly, many of the Bad Boy Records founder’s former friends have since spoken out against his behavior, unfollowed him on various platforms, and more. He’s since released an apology video, claiming that he sought out professional help after the incident.

Now, as the reactions continue to roll in, Chaka Khan’s daughter Indira has joined the conversation, making some shocking allegations of her own about the mogul. In the comments section of Diddy’s apology video, Indira shared her alleged account of watching him scream at her mother. According to her, she’s more than happy to watch him get ripped to shreds by the media.

“I’m glad this is happening to you,” she wrote. “You got in my mothers face and publicly disrespected her yelling and screaming like a l*natic when my little brother tried to get you out of my mothers face your security jumped my 19 year old brother.” Indira added that she’s been “singing and dancing watching [his] demise,” and tagged her mother, urging her to chime in.

Indira is far from the only one reveling in Diddy’s downfall these days, however. 50 Cent has also been criticizing the performer via social media for months now. Just recently, he sold an upcoming docuseries about his legal saga to Netflix. The doc, tentatively titled Diddy Do It, is set to arrive “sooner than later” per TMZ.
