NBA YoungBoy Gets Fiery Again On New Single “We shot him in his head huh”: Stream

NBA YoungBoy is back with a new YouTube-only single and music video, creatively and exhaustingly titled “We shot him in his head huh.” Moreover, it’s structurally the same thing on paper: hard beat, frantic and jumbled flows, aggressive delivery, and visuals from his Utah estate roaming the house and enjoying his material possessions. However, on this track in particular, the 24-year-old also references his legal trouble and how authorities are on him. Paired with the rapid kicks, unstoppable snares, and bouncy swing, it gives this cut a particularly murderous but still playful tone. On that last note, that’s owed mostly to the simple piano melody that the instrumental builds around.

Furthermore, this track follows another recent NBA YoungBoy single that actually hinted at a new and interesting direction. By pairing up with acclaimed producer BNYX on “BNYX Da Reaper,” he taps into more electronic and contemporary soundscapes rather than his usual, straightforward trap fare. Sure, the Baton Rouge native doesn’t switch things up much vocally, but having this different instrumentation works wonder to re-contextualize him. Hopefully, along with his traditional releases like “We shot him in his head huh,” he can continue to evolve his catalog in deeper and more unique ways. After all, YB is still active and successful, and we can only imagine how much more resonant he’d become with listeners.

Of course, not everything is peaches and cream in his life, as recently surfaced bodycam footage shows him and Yaya Mayweather after a stabbing. As such, many want the I Rest My Case artist to keep striving for a balance that turns his environments and actions into more fruitful and less dangerous conditions. With a 6ix9ine collab seemingly on the way, perhaps it will be tough for listeners to accommodate, but with die-hard fans like his, this train might never stop. Check out “We shot him in his head huh” above and find some standout bars down below. Also, as always, keep checking in with HNHH for more on NBA YoungBoy and more great music drops around the clock.

Usher & Zacari Bring The Smoothness To Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

February isn’t getting any hotter for the northern hemisphere, but that doesn’t mean that the soul is getting colder. Moreover, we rounded up the very best of the best new music of the week on our new R&B Season playlist update in this genre’s field. While sometimes that genre barrier can become a little blurry, this next collaboration and artist falls firmly in that camp. Of course, we’re talking about “The King Of R&B,” Usher, and his newest team-up with Pheelz, their single “Ruin.” However, while the vocals definitely fit within that style, the Afrobeat-inspired beat makes for a uniquely breezy take that shows off a lot of vocal strength.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist update is the new Zacari song, “Ocean,” which is a another smooth and pleasant jam. Of course, the vocalist does very well switching between lower tones and high-pitched falsettos, which gives some nice dynamism to the guitar-led beat. Also, additional production elements such as flanging, atmospheric synth pads, and more add to the emotive punch of the song and make it stand out from a typical ballad. Overall, it’s an easy add to a driving playlist or for more chill vibes.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist: Stream

Speaking of atmosphere, we’d be remiss not to shout out SAFE’s new song, “Same Night,” on this week’s R&B Season playlist update. It’s another romantic cut that finds strength in its warbled samples and slow, reverb-drenched drum beat with sharp snares and crisp hi-hats. Not only that, but his vocals never overwhelm the instrumentation and vice versa, and it’s a very nice balance between tense swells and melancholy valleys. Even though it’s not the most eventful track here, it’s exactly the kind of mood-setting that much of this genre champions so well.

Finally, we wanted to give a nod to Daniel Caesar’s soft and patient cover of “Waiting In Vain” by Bob Marley, off of One Love – Music Inspired By The Film. This reimagining is definitely more sultry and less joyful than its original, but its strong sentiment and narrative core still holds on tight. Let us know in the comments what your favorite release on our R&B Season playlist update was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the playlist above and, as always, log back into HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Lil Yachty & TiaCorine Get Odd On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to February: the first releases of the year are out, we’ve had time to enjoy them, and now it’s time for the big guns to come out. While this is by no means a ridiculously huge release window, our new Fire Emoji playlist update and its round-up of the best of the best hip-hop this week proves that things will only get better as 2024 draws on. Leading the way is Lil Yachty’s new single “A Cold Sunday,” one of the most creative and unique rap tracks he’s ever done. With an odd time signature, and flows and drums that adapt on a dime, it’s a dizzying but still soulful record that the Atlanta native still shines on.

Next on Fire Emoji is TiaCorine’s new eight-track offering Almost There, with a lot of colorful and aggressive highlights. However, “Blick” with Key Glock might be the best out of these, with heavy distortion and fiery performances giving off so much energy. Another project release this week was Hit-Boy and The Alchemist’s THEODORE & ANDRE EP, on which the menacing and woozy “THE MAIN EVENT” with Johnathan Hulett bangs hard. Also, Icewear Vezzo’s Live From The 6, particularly the track “Rap Game,” is your fun-to-no-end Detroit rap offering this week.

HNHH Fire Emoji Playlist: Stream

Not only that, but Fire Emoji also highlights the best singles this week, whose artists will hopefully keep grinding in 2024. For example, Don Toliver made his return with “Bandit,” an epic and wavy trap banger with his always vibrant vocal tone. In addition, That Mexican OT tapped DaBaby for “Point Em Out,” which takes all the most cold-blooded elements of many regional scenes and combines them into a trunk-knocker. We’d be remiss not to shout out NBA YoungBoy’s “BNYX Da Reaper,” too, and this collaboration is a refreshing and successful triumph for both its rapper and its producer.

Meanwhile, JT delivered the most confident and cool-as-a-cucumber performance of this whole update on “Sideways.” Finally, there’s YNW Melly and YNW BSlime teaming up for a light and croon-heavy cut, “772 Love Pt. 3 (Your Love).” Let us know in the comments section what your favorite release on this Fire Emoji update was in the comments -– and what else we missed this week, too. ScHoolboy Q Announces New Album “Blue Lips”: Release Date, Tracklist & Reactions

Well, it’s finally time. After four years of teasing, a lot of hard work, and an avalanche of fan anticipation, ScHoolboy Q has finally and officially announced his next studio album: Blue Lips. Moreover, he did so through a teaser trailer that shows a group of colleagues, on car and on foot, arriving at a street alley with the project’s tracklist written out on a building’s wall. By visiting the TDE rapper’s website, you can see a counter that lets you know exactly how long you will have to wait for this LP to drop. Fortunately, it’s not a long wait at all, and fans can pre-save the full-length on their preferred streaming service, preview merch, and sign up for updates on the site, too.

Furthermore, Blue Lips will release on March 1, and the teaser indicates that it will comprise of 17 tracks or so, if each title is a line long. If not, then it’ll be shorter, but either way, there are certain titles that really caught fans’ eyes. For example, ScHoolboy Q fans made a ruckus over the song “Blue Slides,” given the apparent reference to Mac Miller’s debut album Blue Slide Park from 2011. Die-hards are hoping that this includes a feature from the Philly MC given their close relationship, but the prospect of being let down if it doesn’t appear isn’t enough to dissuade listeners’ excitement for this project.

ScHoolboy Q’s Blue Lips Teaser: Watch

As far as what we can gain musically from this teaser, there’s no confirmation on whether the featured song will appear on Blue Lips‘ tracklist in some form. Perhaps it’s a preview of a sample, an original instrumental, or just a really good, tender, and dramatic soul song that ScHoolboy Q wanted to shout out. Regardless of which is the correct answer, it sets the stage for a lush, possibly nostalgic, and emotive experience. Whenever the West Coast MC decides to drop, it’s for a very good reason, so there’s a lot fans can chew on here already. Speaking of which, check out some fan reactions down below.

Fans React To New Album Announcement

Meanwhile, this is how the 37-year-old defined “blue lips” in this teaser. “adj. 1. Speechless, especially as the temporary result of shock or some strong emotion. 2. Shocked, speechless, or embarrassed. n. 1. a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something. 2. c*on. v. 1. become fully aware of (something) as a fact; understand clearly.” What do you think about this preview, these definitions, and how they might play into his past work? Chance The Rapper Delivers New Single “I Will Be Your” Dedicated To Black Star Line Festival: Stream

Chance The Rapper is gearing up to drop Star Line Gallery in spring of 2024, fans believe, and this new track “I Will Be Your” is a great indicator of that. Moreover, the song is dedicated to his Black Star Line Festival in Ghana, and as such, themes of community, perseverance, support, and hope in the face of adversity are very present. It makes for one of the Chicago rapper’s most emotionally resonant singles in his post-The Big Day run, although these other cuts did not have a lack of meaning. Instead, this song amplifies it with a light-hearted tone, both delivery-wise and production-wise, even if its artist is speaking on large issues. What’s important is that he tackles them with the care and levity with which you’d speak to a family member.

Furthermore, a soulful sample provides the bed in which Chance The Rapper lyrically lays, proclaiming that “I will be your everything.” By cutting out the last word, he switches between being different roles for a loved one, all of which communicate the idea of him as a leader. Think what you will of the “Writing Exercise #5” MC’s last project, but don’t doubt that he has this capacity. Sure, some may read this as a little too savior-complexed, but we’d be lying if we said that it wasn’t an inspiring sonic pallet. Lyrically, he’s colorful, charismatic, clever, and seems very focused on building a lively and comforting narrative.

Jay-Z Album In 2024 Isn’t Coming, Roc Nation Suggests In Clarifying Tweet

Unfortunately, it looks like the rumors sparked by director Hidji World that Jay-Z is coming out with a new album in 2024 were just that: rumors. Moreover, the Roc Nation Twitter account recently responded to coverage of these teases with the disappointing phrase “That’s news to us.” Of course, this could just be some cheeky misdirection, but it’s most likely a legitimate effort to quell any announcements or excitement. However, even getting this direct response to this is quite telling, because there are always rumors about when he’s going to drop something. As such, this door isn’t fully closed yet, although it’s getting hard to see the light in between the crack.

Furthermore, this is what Hov himself had to say to Gayle King about the idea of coming out with a new album. “I already [used the word ‘retirement’], I can’t do that ever again,” Jay-Z remarked. “I’ll say I wanna make music, but it has to be something important. I don’t wanna just make a bunch of tunes. That’s not gonna serve me. It won’t feed me, first of all. I have to be saying something important. It has to mean something, you know? It has to mean something to a larger society.”

Roc Nation Debunks Jay-Z Album Rumors

Not only that, but this is far from the only rumor of a new Jay-Z album to sprout in recent months. Again, it appears to be the only one that Roc Nation directly responded to, so take that as you wish. Regardless, another speculative streak began when a special case went up for auction from his “The Book Of HOV” exhibit at the Brooklyn Public Library. In this case, there are thirteen slots for each of the 54-year-old’s album, and a fourteenth one which is empty.

Was this just a design decision or legitimate confirmation that the New York MC has one more in the tank? Perhaps we’ll never know, and we’d bet that we certainly won’t know in the near future. But within every hip-hop fan is a dream that their favorite rapper will pick the mic up again somehow, and that’s important to believe in, no matter how delusional. What do you think will happen? Let us know in the comments down below and stay posted on HNHH for the latest news on Jay-Z.

Chuck Strangers & The Alchemist Get “Ski’d Up” On New Single: Stream

Pro Era’s own Chuck Strangers is gearing up for a new album very soon. Moreover, his next project A Forsaken Lover’s Plea is set to drop on March 15 of this year via Lex Records, and we already have some singles to tease how great this LP will likely come out. This newest one, “Ski’d Up,” sees the Too Afraid To Dance MC pontificating on family over a buttery smooth beat from none other than The Alchemist. Overall, it’s exactly the kind of reflective, measured, and grounded boom-bap that the Joey Bada$$ fronted Pro Era collective burst onto the scene with over a decade ago. Fortunately, the rapper proves that it’s still as captivating as ever.

Furthermore, that’s largely due to Uncle Al’s simple but ridiculously effective beat here, which is a bit more calm and woozy than Chuck Strangers’ usual output. For example, the woodwind loop here is an ethereal and meditative melody for the “Regular Season” artist to flow over, and one that lends itself well to spontaneous and focused flow switches. In addition, The Alchemist’s percussive treatment slightly mutes the kick and snare to make them small details which still loom large over such a minimalist beat. As the Brooklyn lyricist delves deeper into family relationships, his day-to-day, and his motivation to keep finding success, subtle pads and echoes give “Ski’d Up” more atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the California beatsmith has works of his own to look forward to and celebrate, such as his Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine collab tape Hall & Nash 2 and his (presumably) upcoming link-up with Kid Cudi. As we wait for A Forsaken Lover’s Plea, we can’t imagine Chuck Strangers failing to engage listeners with his rhymes and perspective. As such, we’re glad “Ski’d Up” points in that direction. If you haven’t heard the song yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and peep standout bars below. Also, stay logged into HNHH for more great hip-hop releases around the clock.

Jay-Z Releasing New Album In 2024, Director Hidji World Teases

Jay-Z shook the rap world when he released a collaboration with D’Angelo this year, but perhaps he’s not done. Moreover, director Hidji World -– who’s worked with A$AP Rocky, Metro Boomin, Future, and many more rap superstars -– recently teased a shoot he directed on Sunday (January 28) for a 2024 album from Hov. Of course, this is just speculative and largely based on the hopes of fans, as the New York legend himself hasn’t said anything. However, with a visual project on the cards labeled as a shoot for a project this year, we wouldn’t expect this to result in anything less than a ballistic listenership.

Furthermore, Jay-Z hasn’t dropped a full-length project since 2017’s excellent 4:44. Back when Gayle King interviewed him for CBS, he didn’t close the door on another album, but he did remark how it would have to be something really special for him to craft it and sink the necessary time into it. As such, perhaps the 54-year-old finally found that reason… or this is all just a troll to send folks wild online. These days, we can’t rule that out, and with a catalog and career as revered and successful as his, he doesn’t have anything else he owes us other than some social media spectacle.

Hidji World Teases Jay-Z Album In 2024

For the sake of Jay-Z fans (and the ears of any person who likes music), we hope we’re wrong about this probably being misdirection. Still, it begs the question: so what is Hidji World doing related to him that prompted him to tease this on his Instagram Story on Sunday? The “Can I Live” MC is busy collaborating with Moncler; what time does a billionaire have to make a new album, music video, or whatever else this is? We’ll probably find out in due time (after all, this has a 2024 expiration date), and when we do, even the smallest of career moves will surely excite fans.

Meanwhile, the rift between him and Dame Dash over Roc-A-Fella is still a raging battle, albeit a one-sided one. Jay’s got much more pressing problems to handle, and also a whole lot more success to find across his fields. But we can’t help but dream about a new album this year, as it’s what most people love him the most for. With that in mind, keep checking in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on Jay-Z.

Lil Yachty & Chief Keef In “Say Ya Grace” Music Video From Lyrical Lemonade: Watch

The new Lyrical Lemonade album All Is Yellow is finally out, and to name highlights off of it would be a much longer article than needed. Still, there is one track in particular that its team, artists, and fans seemed to take a liking to in particular: Chief Keef and Lil Yachty’s “Say Ya Grace.” Moreover, as expected from a creative like Cole Bennet, its visual treatment is pretty stunning from a technical standpoint, even if it’s not the flashiest of most complex presentation on paper. Some yellow tarps, filter effects, simple outfits, and cameos from Denzel Curry, G Herbo, and Big Sean make this a compelling package.

But all this is unsurprising if you’ve been following All Is Yellow‘s rollout, which contained no shortage of bangers as both singles and music videos. Take for example “Doomsday” with Juice WRLD and Cordae, which is a refreshing spin on old ideas in both lanes. For what it’s worth, Lil Yachty and Chief Keef still come through with a lot of charisma and personality in the video despite their simple set-up. Seeing MCs bring life to ad-libs and contrast their recording delivery is always a really fun part of visuals, and they don’t disappoint here.

Lyrical Lemonade’s “Say Ya Grace” Music Video With Chief Keef & Lil Yachty: Watch

Furthermore, while it’s Chief Keef’s only appearance on All Is Yellow, Lil Yachty also appears on the cut “Fallout” with Joey Bada$$ and Gus Dapperton. Back to “Say Ya Grace,” though, it’s a Sosa-produced cut that pairs an ethereal sample with icy drum patterns, and the two rappers provide all the energy necessary to take it over the top. Their vocal chemistry is potent here, and though we would’ve loved to hear more trade-offs, their matching tones are enough to satisfy. Hopefully it’s not the only collab that the two have in store.

Meanwhile, with other bangers like “Stop Giving Me Advice” from Dave and Jack Harlow, we’re excited to see how All Is Yellow ages throughout 2024. What did you think of the album and its accompanying visuals? Drop your thoughts in the comments section down below and check out the “Say Ya Grace” music video above. Ice Spice Hits The 305 For “Think U The S**t (Fart)”: Watch The Music Video

Ice Spice’s new single “Think U The S**t (Fart)” was turning listeners up before it ever officially dropped, so what better way to solidify that splash with some visuals in the 305? Moreover, she just dropped her official music video for the song, featuring the Bronx rapper and her entourage (including producer RIOTUSA) in Miami. They ride jet skis, party with locals, ride around in expensive cars, hit up some delis and small stores, and of course, shake it for the cam’. It’s overall a really fun watch that sees her enjoying herself just as much as fans are as they take a look. Few music videos can ever really reach that connection, so props to Spice and the whole cabinet for prioritizing a good time.

While these folks were up in South Beach, some fans think that this new track will send shockwaves deep within Atlanta. Sadly, no femcee’s success is complete without fanbases, media, and competitive spirits consistently pitting them against one of their peers. Folks think that Ice Spice sent a not-so-subliminal shot at Latto on “Think U The S**t (Fart),” who sparked beef rumors in the past. “I got my foot on they necks, I can’t let up, she all on the floor, told her get up,” she raps on the cut, an apparent reference to the 777 hitmaker’s “Put It On Da Floor.”

Ice Spice’s “Think U The S**t (Fart)” Music Video: Watch

Regardless of whether there’s any real basis there, perhaps this fiery and combative spirit is something needed in hip-hop right now, even if they might base things on personal matters rather than actual skill. Nevertheless, it’s not the only aspect of the 24-year-old’s life that folks are clawing to get a glimpse into. Her upcoming Super Bowl commercial might reveal her ex, teases suggest, but don’t keep your hopes too high. Still, as Ice Spice enters what will probably be another big year for her, we’re sure that we will get other peeps behind the curtain.

Meanwhile, if complete secrecy keeps pumping out hits like “Think U The S**t (Fart),” then we’re happy to stay in the dark. If nothing else, hopefully people stay most interested in the art for their own personal sake -– and for Ice Spice’s. We’re sure she doesn’t plan on having to address pregnancy rumors just for the whims of the Internet. Check out the music video above and stay posted on HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.
