Chrisean Rock recently took to social media to flex her post-pregnancy figure, revealing that she’s been spending some time in the gym. The rapper and reality star just gave birth to her son, Chrisean Jr., at the beginning of this week. The child’s father, Blueface, took issue with Chrisean hitting the gym so quickly after the birth. He hopped on Twitter recently to air his grievances.
“Here hold my 1 day old baby while I work out a** b*tch smh,” he wrote. Blueface went on to claim that he’d be filing for custody of their son if Chrisean doesn’t make him her top priority for at least 30 days. “You’ve been warned,” he told her, noting that the baby has already been held by various people. “My kid not finna be molested and touched on like everybody in her family,” he wrote. “Dead homys I don’t play them typa games.” Blueface further accused Chrisean of not caring about the newborn, calling her “selfish.”
Chrisean Rock then clapped back, showcasing her home gym on social media. “What gym?” she wrote. “I’m at home in Baltimore the gym is next to my bed room.” Chrisean continued, “Respectfully just blessed to be able to come home n heal properly and abundantly with the right support and love.” She ended her post with a jab at Blueface, claiming that he’s “hoping for the worst.”
It’s clear that the drama between the two of them hasn’t slowed down since the birth of their child. Even the day of his birth managed to spark some controversy. While Chrisean was in labor, Blueface was spotted partying in Miami with the mother of his first two kids, Jaidyn Alexis. The rapper failing to show up for the occasion got social media users talking, however, both of them claim it was for the best. At this point, Blueface says he’s just focused on mending things with Jaidyn, despite Chrisean Jr.’s arrival. Keep an eye on HNHH for more updates on Chrisean Rock and Blueface.
Damian Lillard is still a Portland Trail Blazer. Despite requesting a trade to the Miami Heat at the start of July, very little progress has been made in making that trade happen. However, maybe that’s not the worst thing in the world for the city of Portland. Earlier this week, Lillard crashed a wedding in the city, even going as far as to perform for the happy couple.
Jay and Kelly Virdee were surprised by the appearance of Lillard, who was invited by a mutual friend, rapper Dreebo. The LA rapper convinced Lillard to attend, leading to Lillard going into D.O.L.L.A. Dame mode and performing his Dreebo collab “Home Team” for the happy couple. The Virdees, who are reportedly massive fans of Lillard, met six years ago at a Portland winery. Furthermore, Jay even grew up in the same area as Lillard before moving to the PNW for work. Congratulations to the newlyweds.
However, it’s not the only levity that Lillard has been experiencing recently. The seven-time also did a little bit of reference work with Cam’ron in recent weeks. 21 years after the release of Paid In Full, Cam’ron has recreated the iconic takeout scene with the help of Lillard. The Blazers superstar was 12 years old when Paid In Full came out and was still a full decade away from joining the NBA.
As for his trade woes, it doesn’t look like that is going to change anytime soon. While the Blazers aren’t interested in forcing a deal with Miami, it doesn’t look like there is much of a market for Lillard beyond South Beach. “There’s not that many teams that are going to give you a bunch of players and picks for a 33-year-old who can’t stay healthy and has a giant contract sitting there. It was not anything Dame said or Aaron Goodwin said that shut down the market. That stuff didn’t help. But there weren’t teams lined up for him even before that,” an anonymous NBA executive told Forbes.
The growth of streaming platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music transformed the music industry in the 2010s decade. In particular, 2011 housed timeless rap hits. Artists benefitted greatly from this shift, making their music more accessible to global audiences. The reach and popularity of the genre exponentially increased within the decade, and its significance and impact on pop culture were felt more strongly than ever before.
Rap’s diversity soared in 2010, and even more hits took center stage in 2011. Consequently, commercialization became fully realized. Chart-topping rap hits and collaborations became more common. Additionally, artists were more open to experimentation, further blurring the genre boundaries. As the scope of the genre broadened, so did its success.
“Black And Yellow” – Wiz Khalifa
“Black and Yellow” was released as the lead single from Khalifa’s third studio album, Rolling Papers. The song also served as an anthem for the city of Pittsburgh, whose official colors are black and gold. It features an energetic, anthemic beat with a memorable hook. The catchy and infectious track became one of the most iconic rap hits of 2011.
Further, “Black and Yellow” gained widespread popularity due to its commercial appeal and association with Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams. The song was also a commercial triumph and achieved notable chart success. It peaked at No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Rap Songs charts.
Following her major breakthrough in 2010, Nicki Minaj forged on with numerous rap hits in 2011. She released “Moment 4 Life” as the fourth single from PinkFriday. Similar to her debut single “Your Love,” Minaj smoothly blends rap and R&B on this track. She also featured fellow Young Money affiliate Drake on the track. “Moment 4 Life” is a celebratory song that explores themes of success, ambition, and the desire to make a moment last forever. It is one of Pink Friday’s standout tracks and performed well on the charts. Besides topping the Hot Rap Songs chart, it peaked at No. 13 on the Hot 100.
“Look At Me Now” – Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes
“Look at Me Now” is a high-energy Hip Hop track and one of the biggest rap hits of 2011. The song effectively showcases the talents of Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Busta Rhymes. It was released as the second single from Brown’s fourth album, F.A.M.E., in 2011. “Look at Me Now” is characterized by its fast-paced and energetic beat. Furthermore, the song focuses on rapid-fire, tongue-twisting lyrics, especially exemplified in Busta Rhymes’ iconic verse. The hit song was also positively received by critics and fans alike. As a result, the single topped the Hot Rap Songs chart for a whopping ten weeks.
“My Last” is a Hip Hop and R&B song that marked a significant moment in Big Sean’s career. The upbeat track helped solidify Sean’s presence in the music industry. It was released as the lead single from Sean’s debut studio album, Finally Famous. “My Last” also became one of the most popular rap hits of 2011 and a party staple. Additionally, Chris Brown’s smooth vocals provided a memorable hook. The song was a commercial success, peaking at No. 30 on the Hot 100 chart and number one on the Hot Rap Songs chart for two weeks.
“I’m On One” – DJ Khaled ft. Drake, Rick Ross, & Lil Wayne
DJ Khaled featured three of Hip Hop’s most prominent artists on this track. “I’m on One” was released as the second single from Khaled’s fifth studio album, We the Best Forever. Upon release, it received attention for its star-studded lineup and soon became an anthem for celebrating success and living in the moment. The track’s slow, atmospheric beat creates a laid-back, introspective vibe that greatly complements the artists’ verses. ”I’m on One” was a commercial success, peaking at No. 10 on the Hot 100 chart and topping the Hot Rap Songs chart for 13 weeks.
“Headlines” – Drake
“Headlines” was released as the second single from Drake’s sophomore studio album Take Care. The 2011 album featured many rap hits, but this track stands out. The song is characterized by a mid-tempo beat and a minimalist yet catchy melody. Moreover, Drake’s clever lyricism and flow take center stage. On “Headlines,” Drake reflects on his rise to stardom, relationships, and challenges while maintaining his authenticity. The song was one of his highest-charting at the time, peaking at No. 13 on the Hot 100 chart. “Headlines” also received critical acclaim and claimed the top spot on the Hot Rap Songs chart for seven weeks.
Upon release, “N*ggas in Paris” was a massive hit and a standout track from West and Jay-Z’s collaborative project, Watch the Throne. The energetic, hard-hitting beat, synth bell loop, and aggressive rap style made the track one of the biggest hits of 2011 across genres. “N*ggas in Paris” showcases the chemistry of the two iconic artists, with verses that reflect their distinctive styles and personalities. The song achieved critical acclaim and widespread commercial success. It topped the Hot Rap Song chart for ten weeks and peaked at No. 5 on the Hot 100 chart. The song went on to win two trohpies at the 55th Grammy Awards ceremony.
Lil Durk is the latest rapper to face some legal challenges stemming from a particularly rowdy concert. In Durk’s case, he’s being sued by a young fan who was trampled during a recent show. According to All Hip Hop, the lawsuit was filed last month by the boy’s father Marcus Sloss and it also names Live Nation, iHeartRadio, and the venue that hosted the show as defendants. They’re reportedly looking for $50k in damages and legal fees stemming from the medical fees resulting from the incident and the trial itself.
The lawsuit stems from Lil Durk’s performance at 107.5 WGCI Summer Jam at the United Center in Chicago. During the show many in the audience falsely believed that shots had been fired, causing panic. In the rush for fans to leave the venue many, including the boy at the center of the lawsuit, were injured. The chaotic situation resulted in some scary stories for those trying to navigate the panicked crowd. The lawsuit claims that negligence and mishandling of the situation were present by the named parties. Check out video of the resulting panic at the show below.
Lil Durk has a new song coming out with one of the breakout stars of 2023, Sexyy Red. The pair have a new remix on the way soon and they’ve been finding funny ways to tease it. They took a series of playful shots back and forth at each other on social media. The teases had fans buzzing over the upcoming track.
Lil Durk also popped up alongside plenty of other celebs at Beyonce’s recent stop in LA on the Renaissance tour. Celebrities absolutely piled on top of each other at the event and Durk ended up running into Jay-Z and Travis Scott while there. The ‘90s is often referred to as the golden age of R&B, and for good reason. However, with so much quality music being churned out, maintaining a high profile isn’t easy. Nonetheless, it is entirely impossible to disregard the caliber of R&B talents that saturated the scene in that era. Take the alluring songstress Michel’le. Although she’s flown under the radar in recent times, her impact in the 90s was indelible.
The R&B superstar had a successful career throughout the decade. The albums she dropped between 1989 and 1998 speak loud and clear. This is also despite not releasing any new albums since 1998. It is also unsure whether or not the music scene can wholly welcome Michel’le’s return. Regardless, she still continues to perform live. It has been nine years since her last single though, but her time in the spotlight was marked with great success.
Michel’le Toussant was born on December 5, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. The singer grew up in Compton where she faced a challenging upbringing. During her early life, she had to deal with living in a tough neighborhood and working her way out. Michel’le’s interest in music served as a form of escapism. She was determined to chase a career as a singer and leave Compton despite her limitations. At the age of 16, her world was positively upturned when she was discovered by rapper and record producer, Dr. Dre.
Michel’le caught the attention of Dr. Dre when recording a vocal part for his group World Class Wreckin’ Cru, and her life changed from then on. In the late ‘80s, she became the first female artist signed to Ruthless Records, a label founded by Eazy-E. Under Dr. Dre’s guidance, Michel’le released her self-titled debut album in 1989. The album spawned several hit singles including “No More Lies,” which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Other successful singles on the album include: “Something in My Heart,” and the sleeper hit, “Nicety.” Michel’le was felt throughout the ‘90s and was certified Gold in the U.S. six months after its release.
She was also a featured artist on 2Pac’s song “Run Tha Streetz,” from his acclaimed 1996 album, All Eyez On Me. She also appeared on several other projects before taking a hiatus. Michel’le marked her return to the music scene with the release of her sophomore studio album in 1998, nine years after her debut. The album, Hung Jury, did not enjoy the level of success Michel’le did, however.
Michel’le and Dr. Dre began dating soon after they met. They share a son, Marcel, born in 1991. However, it wasn’t all rosy concerning Michel’le and her relationship with Dr. Dre. Indeed, he changed her life by giving her a platform for her talents, but she also suffered a strained and abusive relationship with him, which included multiple instances of domestic violence. In an interview with VladTV, the singer spoke about his infidelity, as well as his physical violence.
“I was getting dragged on the floor… shot at,” she said. “He shot at me… and I left the bullet in the door.” While she admitted “he never tried to shoot her anymore,” she did refer to the beatings as “a lot.” When asked about the movie StraightOuttaCompton, which was widely anticipated at the time, Michel’le insisted she would probably not make it to the biopic. “Why would Dre put me in it?” she said. “I was just a quiet girlfriend who got beat up and told to sit down and shut up.”
Shortly after the movie was released, Dr. Dre shared a statement to the New York Times, apologizing to the singer. However, she felt as though it wasn’t genuine. “He apologized to the public. I don’t think that was an apology to me, because if it was, he would’ve either called me without the public and said ‘Michel’le, I am so sorry for what I did to you 20-something years ago,’ that’s an apology,” she told the Huffington Post. The following year, she narrated Lifetime’s documentary, Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le, which explored her relationship with both West Coast moguls.
Michel’le’s unique speaking style, characterized by her high-pitched and childlike voice, set her apart from other artists in the genre. Nonetheless, she could tame any audience with the vast size of her singing voice. Her vocals added a distinctive touch to the West Coast Hip Hop and R&B sound of the era. Consequently, that increased the appeal and intrigue of her sound, and music even further.
Her career may not have enjoyed the level of longevity she had the potential for. After her first child was born, Michel’le took time off from music, which was detrimental to her career. Despite it all, Michel’le definitely made her mark in the R&B music scene. She will always be regarded as a trailblazer in the genre, known for her unforgettable voice, and memorable songs.
