Teyana Taylor Is Playing Dionne Warwick In An Upcoming Project, As The Two ‘Talk Every Day’

Teyana Taylor let the tea spill to Tamron Hall, confirming that she’s in the process of playing Dionne Warwick in an eventual biopic.

“We’re already working on it,” Taylor said in a preview clip of their interview shared exclusively with Billboard. “We’re in the building process right now. I always wanted to make sure I could lock in with any person that I would be playing.”

During the interview, Taylor noted that she was pulling her inspiration from biopics of other famous musicians, including 1993’s What’s Love Got To Do With It about Tina Turner and 2004’s Ray about Ray Charles. “I miss when movies were like that, when you got to really get to know them and tap in,” she shared.

Details about her project portraying Warwick are still under wraps. However, Taylor revealed that the two of them are close and “talk every day.” She is also going to eat at her favorite Jersey Italian restaurant soon.

“I’ve always been a firm believer and stood on safety,” Taylor added. “She’s had a wonderful career, and I think right now is about making her feel as safe as possible to tell her story because a lot of these stories get misconstrued or dramatized to an extent. That’s not really where we want to go.”

Beanie Sigel Denies Dissing Jay-Z On 50 Cent Collab “I Go Off”

It’s always fun to revisit one of New York’s most odd but also respectable rap feuds between two titans of the city. Beanie Sigel recently said he didn’t mean to diss Jay-Z on his track “I Go Off” featuring 50 Cent, who does have a weird beef with the Reasonable Doubt MC. Moreover, he recently spoke to DJ Vlad during an interview about how that collaboration, which many still see as a diss, came together. From Sigel’s account, he said he wanted to sign with G-Unit due to Roc-A-Fella’s internal and external struggles at the time, regarding both management and ownership. As such, he tapped 50 for a track, and it devolved into diss territory thanks to his contributions.

“That ‘I Go Off’ was just a record that I had,” the Philly native began. “I ain’t have no hook on it. 50 liked it. I sent it to him, he knocked the hook off. It ain’t nothing about Jay-Z like n***as is talking about with that record. Even through the lyrics, ain’t nothing about Jay-Z in there, but 50 started talking crazy. Not crazy, but you know they got that weird relationship. They don’t f**k with each other, but then they f**k with each other.”

Furthermore, Fif’s message at the end of the track, to be fair to believers of the theory, leaves little to the imagination. “Yeah! You changed man! You let the money change you, Jay,” the Queens MC exclaimed on the song. “You used to be, from Marcy n***a! Now you a pass the Grey Poupon-a** n***a! You don’t want the shooters! I’ll take ’em! N***a, you feed the wolves and the wolves feed off you!“

Meanwhile, it’s fascinating to see that beef in hindsight considering 50’s own money moves and business ventures. Still, it doesn’t mean that the “In Da Club” rapper won’t throw the occasional shot at his somewhat-rival. For example, he recently sided with Eminem over a debate between Shaquille O’Neal and Jamal Crawford over whether Em has more influence than Jay-Z. Overall, their curious animosity will likely continue, though it’s undeniable that they must respect each other as hip-hop moguls. Diddy’s always one to shout out his family as his career develops, and he just posted some adorable pictures with his daughter Love. Moreover, it seems like they recently had a nice vacation, as he included some pictures of them in the water. Also, Love is wearing the finest style possible, with some round sunglasses and adorable bow. In the picture, the Bad Boy mogul smiles down on her in her arms, letting her at least dip her legs into the water. While he surely has some big industry moves on the way as always, the 53-year-old’s family matters are always an integral part of his social media presence these days.

Furthermore, he and his other kids recently filmed for a Hulu reality TV series, according to reports. This news comes from people spotting the clan filming around Miami and Los Angeles for a series that will reportedly profile all their endeavors. Given that the Kardashians moved their reality exploits to the streaming service, it would be understandable if the network piles up the famous family content.

Tony Rock Says Will Smith Lied, Never Reached Out To Brother Chris Rock

If there is one thing Tony Rock will do, it’s defend his brother, Chris Rock. The pair not only share DNA but are both accomplished actors in the industry. They consistently tour and can be found performing standup from coast to coast, and each has decades of success. So, it came as no surprise that when Will Smith slapped Chris on the Academy Awards stage last year, Tony would be his champion defender.

The Rock brothers have separately worked with Smith. Tony starred in the 2000s series All of Us, executive produced by Will and his wife Jada. He knows the couple well and spoke about his brother’s plight with the Smiths while visiting Big Boy’s Neighborhood. There, Tony refuted rumors that Smith reached out to Chris to make amends. “That wasn’t true, that wasn’t true,” he said on the radio show. “I think like, two nights later, he said, ‘I reached out to Chris, and he didn’t want to talk.’ That wasn’t true.”

Tony Rock Still Isn’t Happy With His Former Friend

Smith has delivered several public apologies to Chris Rock, but the acknowledgment doesn’t seem to be enough. “He doesn’t owe me anything, I just thought we were better than that,” said Tony. “My phone number has never changed. So, I just thought I’d get a phone call one day like, ‘Ay, let’s just you and I just talk.’ It hasn’t happened, so I guess it’s not going to happen.”

This is a much more subtle reaction than Tony Rock’s previous responses. In prior interviews, he unleashed on the Smiths, especially Jada. Because the Oscars moment seemed to stem from Chris’s joke about her bald head, Tony followed suit. Much like Chris’s scathing takes in Selective Outrage, Tony has also referred to Jada as a “b*tch” and faulted her for the infamous moment. Additionally, last July, Tony suggested Smith became frustrated because Jada continued to emasculate him with mentions of her friendship with Tupac Shakur. Jazz Cartier Puts On For The 6ix On “+4416”

The 6ix is still scorching hot, even in the winter. The hip-hop scene in Toronto’s flourished over the past few years, especially as more Canadian artists begin to break out into the American market. Sure, Drake, Nav, Tory Lanez, and The Weeknd stand as the most prominent figures in the city, but Jazz Cartier undoubtedly defined an era in the city. Projects like Maurading In Paradise and Hotel Paranoia became pivotal in his career while also helping lay down the foundation for the next generation of rappers that followed.

Still, it’s been nearly five years since his first full-length project Fleurever. The 2018 project boasted 16 songs in total with appearances from KTOE and BLK LT$. However, he hasn’t left fans empty-handed. In 2021 and 2022, he released The Fleur Print Vol. 1 & 2 which saw him colliding on wax alongside Cousin Stizz, Buddy, Kari Faux, AzizTheShake, and KYLE. Though he hasn’t indicated that another album is on the way, he came through with a new single this week that won’t disappoint.

Jazz Cartier Is Back On “+4416”

This week, Jazz Cartier set the tone for 2023 with the release of his new single, “+4416.” This time, he enlists the help of Gray Toomey, JiKay, and Parker Jazz for the spacey and hypnotic production. Jazz is back in his bag with a slick flow that ties together his wicked wordplay and confident delivery.  With a slight tinge of UK influence sprinkled throughout his verses, Jazz brings fun, playful energy to his new single, “+4416.”

“+4416” marks Jazz Cartier’s first official single in roughly two years. However, the rapper delivered a string of excellent collaborations. He teamed up with Eva Shaw on “OUTSIDE.” Then, Jazz and Tommy Newport locked in for “Jackpot.” In early November, he locked in with Rossy for the high-intensity banger, “KARMA.” Hopefully, “+4416” won’t be the only offering he has for us this summer. A simple tweet has caused Mariah The Scientist to face off against Yung Miami’s fans. The public can scrutinize anything you say or do when you’re a famous figure. In our ever-growing, social media-driven culture, online posts receive the same attention—and even the innocent can become wrapped in controversy. This is what happened to Mariah The Scientist today (March 31) when her tweet referenced Yung Miami’s appearance in BMF.

The City Girls hitmaker recently guest starred in the series, and although brief, it created conversations. The internet quickly turned Miami into a meme, and critics poured onto platforms with less-than-stellar reviews of the rapper’s acting skills. Yung Miami took it all in stride and didn’t seem bothered. However, she did notice when Mariah wrote, “I feel like I could’ve said meech where is my husband.” That was Yung Miami’s line in BMF.

Mariah The Scientist Returns With A Denial

Social media users quickly accused Mariah of attempting to shade Miami’s addition to the series. “I’m tryna figure out what this mean [thinking face emoj],” the “Act Up” rapper replied in a retweet. After finding her mentions flooded with reactions, Mariah returned with an update. “If I said I feel like ‘and I seen u skate, so that tells me everything I need to know about a man’ y’all would say I’m shading Lauren London like c’mon now.” She was referencing London’s role in ATL.

This explanation didn’t seem to placate the public. It also didn’t explain her initial tweet, and the public let her know. When Mariah The Scientist isn’t kicking up dust with City Girls fans, she often shares messages of support to her man, Young Thug. The incarcerated rapper began dating the singer before being arrested on RICO charges. Thugger has been behind bars awaiting trial for about a year, and it could take months before it begins. The jury process has been arduous, and Mariah is ready for Young Thug to come home. However, prosecutors allege he is the leader of a street gang and are determined to take him down.
