Vanessa Bryant Settles For Nearly $29 Million In Kobe And Gianna Crash Photos Lawsuit

Vanessa Bryant

Vanessa Bryant settled with Los Angeles County yesterday for nearly $29 million dollars in a lawsuit pertaining to pictures taken and shared of the fatal 2020 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of her husband and NBA legend Kobe Bryant, her 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others.

According to ESPN, the exact amount is $28.85 million, $15 million of which a jury already awarded Bryant after a trial in federal court in 2022.

“Today marks the successful culmination of Mrs. Bryant’s courageous battle to hold accountable those who engaged in this grotesque conduct,” Vanessa Bryant’s attorney, Luis Li, said in a statement. “She fought for her husband, her daughter, and all those in the community whose deceased family were treated with similar disrespect. We hope her victory at trial and this settlement will put an end to this practice.”

The co-plaintiff, Chris Chester, whose wife and daughter were killed in the crash as well, was awarded $19,950,000 as well.

Mira Hashmall, the lead lawyer representing LA County, said that the settlement was “fair and reasonable” and said that it “resolves all outstanding issues related to pending legal claims in state court, future claims by the Bryant children, and other costs, with each party responsible for its respective attorneys’ fees.”

Birdman Believes Hip Hop CEO’s Should Be Celebrated During The Genre’s 50th Anniversary

Birdman Want his Face Tattoos Removed

As we celebrate hip hop’s 50th anniversary this year, people tend to focus mainly on the rappers and producers that pushed the genre to the worldwide status that it is today. However, Cash Money founder, Birdman, believes that the CEO’s should get their flowers too.

The legendary mogul took to Instagram where he wrote that CEO’s should be remembered just as the artists as they were the ones to truly keep the genre alive.

“Im confused about 50yrs of hip hop where they salute legendary artists which is well respeked Birdman wrote. “Also I think CEOs who kept these artists alive to be great [and] showed them how to keep hip hop alive should be saluted in a major way. I remember wen they said hip hop was dead and we kept it alive YMCMB 20plus summers respek our hussle CEOs kept hip hop alive frfr.”

Quality Control co-founder and CEO Pierre “P” Thomas commented under Birdman’s post, agreeing with the Cash Money founder.  “Real talk OG,” he wrote. “This should be discussed in a major way. Let’s Go.” Snoop Dogg, who recently acquired Death Row Records, agreed with Birdman’s sentiments as well. “Facts” Snoop commented, adding “great work cuz u and slim did that.”

Irv Gotti even recently gave Birdman his flowers. On the Earn Your Leisure podcast, Gotti was asked if Birdman was the best to ever do it, to which Gotti responded that Cash Money is the greatest hip-hop label ever.

“Yeah. As far as labels goes, there’s no disputing Cash Money is the greatest label ever. … No one’s even close to Cash Money, I don’t think. No one’s close to them. And if they ever wanted to sell, Baby and Slim could get a billi. Someone will give them a billion dollars.”

Omarion to Recap 2019 'Millennium' Tour in New Docuseries 'Omega - The Gift & The Curse'

Words by: Brandon Simmons

2000s R&B group, B2K, is recapping their 2019 time on the Millenium Tour. After breaking up in 2004, the group reunited in 2019 to perform on the tour alongside Bow Wow, Mario, Lloyd, Keri Hilson, Pleasure P, and other artists from the early 2000s. They documented the tour in a five-part series titled, Omega: The Gift and the Curse. Throughout the three months, fans will see how the group interacts on and off the stage.

Recently, the WE network revealed a juicy trailer for the series. Omega: The Gift and the Curse will be narrated by Omarion as he gives his perspective of his relationship with his ex-bandmates. In this trailer, you can see that all group members are not on the same page. Raz B appears to have issues with J. Boog while at this time, Lil Fizz was dating Omarion’s baby mother, Apryl Jones, which also takes a toll on the group. Also, around this time, the music world received the devastating news that Los Angeles rapper Nipsey Hussle was murdered. Viewers get a chance to see how the group was affected by the news. The series airs on WE on March 2nd.

Recently, a woman online claimed she was engaged to the “Touch” singer and sent him a total of $4,500 throughout the past few years. The woman who believes she is engaged to Omarion appeared on Dr. Phil to share her story, for which Omarion had a message for. During the episode, Dr. Phil played a recorded video from Omarion, in which he states that she needs to be careful and aware of catfishers online. The video was also posted to the R&B crooner’s Instagram page with a caption informing his supporters that he does not scam people.

“Be smart. So many people have stories saying they spoke with me online. I don’t take advantage of people. I respect and appreciate people who support me.”

“This is a huge win for Chicago and the music industry overall, especially since our city’s hip-hop influence is often overlooked and underestimated,” said Dave Jeff, co-producer of Hyde Park Summer Fest “With the return of Clipse for an exclusive performance, we’ll be able to celebrate a legendary duo alongside the fifty-year anniversary of hip-hop, a genre that Chicago has undoubtedly continued to play a leading role in growing and evolving.”

Hyde Park Summer Fest, a Black-owned, neighborhood-focused festival, has established itself as a mainstay in the south side of Chicago. It is renowned for supporting nearby small businesses and educational institutions as well as for boosting the local economy and creating jobs. The festival provided $75,000 to five local high schools in 2022, supported the participation of over 50 small local businesses, and generated close to 200 temporary jobs in the neighborhood. This year’s festival aims to outperform those successes.

“As a Black-owned festival, it’s important for us to create a welcoming, inclusive space for our neighbors and business owners to celebrate Chicago culture through music and food while honoring hip-hop’s impact on the world,” said Jonathan Swain, founder of Hyde Park Summer Fest. “This announcement is just the beginning of a long list of performers, artists, vendors and community partners that we’re teaming up with this year. There’s more to come, Chicago – get ready for a weekend you don’t want to miss.”

Pre-sale tickets are available now: Two-day general admission pre-sale tickets are $89, and two-day VIP pre-sale passes are $199.
