YFN Lucci’s Trial Pushed Back Due To Young Thug’s RICO Case

After a storm of updates in the YSL RICO case and Young Thug’s trial, rappers beyond the label’s spectrum felt its effects. Moreover, authorities reportedly pushed YFN Lucci’s murder and racketeering case back due to YSL’s RICO indictment. Said trial will commence on January 9th.

Moreover, Atlanta-based reporter George Chidi tweeted the news after a conversation with Lucci’s attorney. They claimed that a judge delayed Lucci’s trial, set for the same date as Thugger’s, so the YFN rapper was able to potentially testify in Thug’s case.

“YFN Lucci’s trial was due to begin January 9, same as Young Thug’s,” Chidi tweeted. “The YFN gang and RICO case is just as wide-ranging as the YSL case. The two are connected; Lucci is a witness. But Lucci’s trial date has been postponed, his attorney said Tuesday. No new court date has been set.”

Furthermore, the reporter clarified some points after questions came in droves. While Lucci joined the state’s witness list alongside many prominent hip-hop voices, he refrained from confirming his participation.

“And here we go. For clarification: Lucci is on the state’s witness list,” he wrote. “That doesn’t mean he’s going to testify, but he could still be called. Don’t @ me with questions about snitching. I don’t care.”

Despite Lucci’s mention in the indictment, his attorney had stated that he will not be testifying. When inmates stabbed Lucci in March of 2021, prosecutors accused two YSL associates. Moreover, the court alleges that the accused sought Thug’s permission to attack him again. These details emerged after authorities delayed the 31-year-old’s trial multiple times.

Meanwhile, Thug’s case took no shortage of shocking turns as the year ended. With members like Gunna taking plea deals what seems like every day, his upcoming trial will be monumental. Moreover, it could define the label for the next few years and already hampered a bright and crucial career in hip-hop.

Still, what do you think of YFN Lucci’s trial, its delay, and its relationship with Young Thug’s court case? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, check in with HNHH for the latest on these developing hip-hop cases.

“BMF” Season 2 Premiere Recap: “Family Dinner”

Over thirteen months have passed since the Season 1 finale of BMF aired at the tail-end of 2021. The Starz original crime drama follows the rise, as well as the eventual downfall, of the infamous Black Mafia Family. Executive produced by Power mogul 50 Cent, BMF offers a dramatized account of Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s exploits as the founding members of one of the most notorious African American crime families in the history of the United States. What’s more, Big Meech’s own son — Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. — was cast in the lead role as his father, and rising actor Da’Vinchi portrayed Southwest T.

Together, Lil Meech and Da’Vinchi brought BMF’s story to light in a captivating way. While it wasn’t without its faults, BMF’s first season brought in an average of 0.379 million viewers per episode. The Season 1 finale featured the long-awaited showdown between Meech and fan-favorite villain Lamar Silas (portrayed by Eric Kofi-Abrefa), and it didn’t disappoint. BMF’s inaugural season finale brought in over half a million viewers on its own, and it set the stage for an even more exciting second season.

After a long wait and a myriad of updates amid 50 Cent and Starz’s ongoing beef, BMF is finally back. The Season 2 premiere aired on Friday, January 6, and it wasted no time setting up the show’s latest story arc. Without a doubt, a lot went down in the Solvan “Slick” Naim-directed episode. For a recap of all the new characters and plot twists featured in the 52-minute premiere, keep scrolling down. However, be warned: beyond this point, there are plenty of spoilers ahead.

Here’s Everything That Happened In BMF Episode 201: “Family Dinner”

Titled “Family Dinner,” BMF’s Season 2 opener is thematically centered around communal family moments. Whereas Season 1 kicked off with a flash-forward of Meech, the sophomoric outing begins with a flash-forward of T. After a written quote about family dinners fades away, T brings his crew together for a meal in St. Louis. According to T, Meech has already been arrested. Still, Southwest T is confident that he’ll evade the feds because he thinks he’s smarter than his brother. However, everything comes crashing down during T’s family dinner when officers storm his house. T is arrested by an aged-up Detective Bryant (portrayed by Steve Harri), and Leslie Jones makes a comedic cameo as Bryant’s partner.

Then, the show cuts back to the late 1980s. Meech prepares to smuggle product from Las Vegas back to Detroit. Before leaving Sin City, Meech quickly crosses paths with Rick “Freeway” Ross and Shower Posse’s Christopher Coke. After evading a potential arrest, Meech makes it back to Detroit safely.

Once back in Detroit, viewers are reunited with the younger version of Southwest T. In a nod back to Meech and T’s rift at Season 1’s conclusion, T takes his driver’s test. Despite a potential setback, he earns his license and prepares to go into business with his father. Later on in the episode, his child and baby’s mother (portrayed by Sydney Mitchell) return to Detroit. However, due to his growing crush on LaLa Anthony’s character Markaisha Taylor, he remains detached from his former love interest.

Elsewhere, the Flenory patriarch (portrayed by Russell Hornsby) links up with his wife (portrayed by Michole Briana White). Their relationship is still on the rocks because the family continues to struggle financially. Nevertheless, they refuse to accept monetary assistance from Meech. Thus, their familial ties are strained. For instance, tension boils over when the mother slaps her daughter, Nicole (portrayed by Laila Pruitt).

Drama quickly unfolds at the school’s basketball game. Both Meech and T attend the game and cross each other’s paths, but they still aren’t on good terms. Shockingly, one of the game’s attendees murders the team’s coach in cold blood over a payment dispute. The show eventually introduces the shooter as K-9 (portrayed by Rayan Lawrence), Meech’s volatile new connect. Apparently, Meech’s trip from Vegas to Detroit was part of K-9’s screening to see whether he could count on Meech. While being further vetted by K-9, Big L (portrayed by Walnette Marie Santiago) makes an appearance. She tells K-9 that she wouldn’t do business with Meech, causing K-9 to reconsider working with him, as well.

Amidst Meech and T’s growing drama, Detective Bryant embarks on a new path of his own. In contrast to his role as a dirty cop in Season 1, Bryant is now fully committed to arresting Meech. Furthermore, Bryant now has custody of his son, but that side plot takes a backseat to his efforts against Meech. In an early episode debrief, his supervisor reminds him that Kato and Lamar Silas’ murders need to be solved. As a result, she assigns him a new partner, Detective Veronica Jin (portrayed by Kelly Hu).

Together, they work to sniff out the 50 Boys and prevent additional street violence. In a surprising demonstration of her grit, Detective Jin hits Dink (portrayed by actor/rapper JVSUN) with her car. They arrest him, and Bryant clearly gains respect for his new partner. As a result, he brings her to a heavily policed hospital and shows her Lamar Silas is still alive. The Season 1 villain has been detained and renamed by authorities, but he remains in a coma. After that insane reveal, the show jumps back to Meech and B-Mickie (portrayed by Myles Truitt).

Despite enduring a major setback with Dink’s arrest, Meech still doubles down on his attempt to work with K-9. His new mentor, and potential future adversary, agrees to bring Meech into his business. Without hesitation, he assigns Meech 20 bricks. However, before Meech can even celebrate the win, K-9 warns Meech to never be late with his money. In fact, he casually informs Meech he wouldn’t hesitate to kill him and his brother over a late payment. Then, K-9 delivers the Season 2 premiere’s second jaw-dropper. After presenting his team with gifts of jewelry, K-9 gives Meech a box bigger than everyone else’s. Surprisingly, the box contains Big L’s mouth, completely detached from her body. Earlier, K-9 and Big L seemed like close friends, so this is just a small example of his treachery.

Regardless, Meech is blinded by ambition, so he continues to push forward with his new product. He makes one last attempt to recruit T back to drug dealing, but his brother doesn’t budge. After a tense fight, they go their separate ways and prepare for two very different types of family dinners.

T eats a big meal with his family for their anticlimactic Sunday dinner. Contrarily, Meech eats takeout with his soldiers inside their crew’s headquarters. Meech deads the 50 Boys moniker that he and T used throughout the first season and officially rebrands his crew as the Black Mafia Family.

Although Meech’s call to “pledge allegiance to the Black Mafia Family” could’ve been a satisfying conclusion, the premiere keeps going. After the Flenory family dinner, T overhears his mother and girlfriend’s strategy to get him out of the streets. He confronts them about it, and he immediately loses trust in his entire family. While he may not yet realize it, Meech also can’t trust the people around him. His newly confirmed right-hand man, B-Mickie, is unfortunately still working as an informant for Detective Bryant.

With drama slowly unfolding for the Flenory brothers, “Family Dinner” closes out with its third and final gut punch. In the final moments of the Season 2 premiere, Lamar awakens from his coma, undoubtedly spelling trouble for Meech and T.

BabyTron Announces New Album With Single, “Mr. Hanky”

Detroit’s rap prince, BabyTron, returned with a new single, “Mr. Hanky,” and with a new album announcement. The “Jesus Shuttlesworth” star announced that Bin Reaper 3: New Testament will drop next Friday, January 13th. With a slew of big-name features from Detroit and beyond, he heightened excitement with a menacing yet charismatic single. Also, this announcement marked his third project within the span of a year.

Moreover, this new album is not a deluxe or expanded version of his October effort, Bin Reaper 3: Old Testament. In fact, it’s 26 completely new BabyTron tracks featuring a host of big-name features. While the 22-year-old rarely collaborates with non-Detroit rappers, he’s switching that up on New Testament. Furthermore, this album will feature Lil Yachty, Rico Nasty, Remble, DaBoii, Cordae, Babyface Ray, and many more.

With all this in mind, “Mr. Hanky” got fans ecstatic with a menacing vocal chant sample and heavy pianos. Sure, it’s named after the Christmas Poo from South Park, but that’s just Tron’s sense of humor shining through. Moreover, he references Call of Duty, Shameless, the hip-hop game, and NBA players. While it’s funny, don’t let that distract you from Tron’s clever bars and undeniable charm.

“Mr. Hanky” came with a music video, specifically a “From The Block” performance on 4 Shooters Only. The Detroit MC rapped and smoked in a nice pink hoodie amid… toilet paper? Well, he sat on a golden toilet for his performance. Really gives his S**tty Boyz gang a whole new meaning.

Still, what did you think of BabyTron’s new single, “Mr. Hanky”? Moreover, are you excited for what’s to come on Bin Reaper 3: New Testament? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, you can check out some notable lyrics and the music video down there as well. As always, stay tuned to HNHH for the exciting, fresh, and quality hip-hop we’re bound to get in 2023.

Ciara Pregnancy Rumours Are Running Rampant On Social Media

We’re just one week into the new year, but already, pregnancy rumours are running rampant online – for one couple, at least. According to online speculation, Ciara may become a mother of four in 2023, though no official confirmation has come just yet.

The gossip actually began circulating in late 2020, though it’s only increased in recent days as social media users have been carefully eyeing her every post for any signs of a budding baby bump.

On Friday (January 6), the “Body Party” hitmaker posted a bootylicious video while wearing a cheetah print look. While she usually proudly flaunts her rock-hard figure for the camera, in this clip, the starlet was noticeably using her left arm to shield her stomach from full view.

Immediately, fans took to the comment section to call Ciara out. “Tryna hide that damn baby,” one person specifically wrote. Another pointed out, “He said he wanted one more baby,” referring to the singer’s husband, Russell Wilson.

Interestingly, the NFL player shared a tweet back in December that also sparked some pregnancy rumours. In the early half of the month, he wrote “JESUS I am Grateful!!!” This led one person to ask him, “@ciara pregnant?!”

The couple already shares two children – Sienna Princess and Win Harrison. Additionally, Ciara welcomed a son with rapper Future, who was named after her ex.

As social media users have pointed out, Wilson hasn’t held back on chiefly expressing his desire to expand his family. He and Ci are frequently referred to as “couple goals” and have been previously known to express their intimate (sometimes downright sensual) PDA on the internet for everyone to see.

Check out Twitter’s reaction to the speculation below, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

French Montana Blamed By Police For Miami Shooting

On Thursday night (January 5), reports indicate that there was a shooting on the set of a music video. It was seemingly for French Montana and Rob49‘s new collab, “Igloo.”

Although, the “No Stylist” rapper says the event was instead just a celebration for his latest album, Coke Boys 6. 10 people were shot, including Rob49 himself and Montana’s bodyguard, who is reportedly in critical condition.

However, police are now blaming the 38-year-old for what transpired. Miami Gardens Police Chief, Delma Noel-Pratt says event organizers didn’t obtain the necessary permits. This is reportedly a violation of city policy.

“If the necessary agencies were notified ahead of time and protocol followed, police officers would have been in place to safeguard the community and assist with deterring and responding, if needed, to any situation that may arise,” says Noel-Pratt.

Furthermore, footage obtained by TMZ allegedly shows the Morocco native and others taking to a nearby KFC restaurant for cover. They reportedly stayed inside for 30-40 minutes, until cops arrived at the scene.

On Friday (January 6), the “Unforgettable” rapper took to his Twitter account to make a statement. Notably, he doesn’t mention anything about filming a music video. “Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant. We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time,” writes Montana.

Of course, the sixth instalment of the Coke Boys series did release yesterday (January 6). It boasts features from the likes of Kodak Black, Benny The Butcher, Stove God Cooks and more. DJ Drama takes care of the hosting duties, making it an official Gangsta Grillz mixtape. The Money Heist Edition also dropped, which contains nine extra songs.

TMZ also reports that all of the victims are expected to survive. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest updates.

Aaron Hernandez’ Ex Fiancée Accused of Squandering Daughter’s Trust Fund

Screen Shot 2023 01 07 at 9.44.28 AM

Six years ago NFL star Aaron Hernandez committed suicide in prison after he was convicted on murder charges. Now his child’s mother, Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez, is being accused of draining their daughter’s trust fund at fancy clothing stores and college courses.

Boston.com reports:

The fight started in September when Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez said she couldn’t afford the $10,697 bill for her daughter’s dance lessons.

So the former fiancée of disgraced New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez asked a court-appointed trustee to pay the bill from a trust fund that had been set up for their daughter, Avielle, after Hernandez committed suicide while in prison for murder in 2017.

But the trustee, attorney David Schwartz, said no. By his calculations, Jenkins-Hernandez already was receiving a separate source of funds outside the trust — $150,000 a year or more from Hernandez’s NFL pension and Social Security that was supposed to pay for the 10-year-old’s daily expenses. He couldn’t imagine why she needed more.

Then Schwartz reviewed how Jenkins-Hernandez had been spending the money: $36,858 on clothing, including maternity wear; $39,347 on home goods; $25,577 shopping online; $11,792 in “self care,” including gym fees, and visits to hair and nail salons.

“There is reason to question whether the expenditures were for Avielle’s benefit,” said attorney Robert O’Regan, who is representing Schwartz in the court dispute. “To be fair, this little girl should have a decent life with what her father left for her. No one would complain if there were reasonable expenses. We’re talking about over the top or otherwise unrelated expenses to Avielle.”

Now Schwartz and Jenkins-Hernandez are locked in a battle over who controls the money that remained after the death of Hernandez, who hanged himself in prison after being convicted of murdering Odin Lloyd, the boyfriend of Jenkins-Hernandez’s sister. Just a few days before his death, Hernandez had been acquitted of a separate double murder in the South End.

When Schwartz declined to pay Avielle’s dancing bill, Jenkins-Hernandez promptly asked a Bristol County probate judge to remove him as trustee, arguing he was potentially forcing the child to give up her favorite extracurricular activity. Jenkins-Hernandez, who gave birth to a second daughter by another man in 2018, insists she hasn’t improperly spent money and the money from the trust fund should be available when she needs it.

But Schwartz said Jenkins-Hernandez appears to have broken the rules and he has asked that she be removed as Avielle’s conservator, a court-appointment that allowed her to set up the trust fund Schwartz now administers. If she loses that role, a new conservator would receive Hernandez’s pension and Social Security checks and decide how the money should be spent.

The trust administered by Schwartz paid for her current Rhode Island home and all related expenses, as well as Avielle’s school tuition. Separately, Jenkins-Hernandez directly receives Hernandez’s pension and Social Security payments, although Schwartz said those funds, too, are supposed to be spent exclusively for the benefit of her daughter.

As the conservator for her daughter, Jenkins-Hernandez was supposed to file annual disclosures for the last several years as to how she was spending the money, but Schwartz said she only recently began submitting them.

Schwartz was shocked by what he saw on the expenditure forms: tens of thousands of dollars in what he called “questionable” expenses, such as $4,800 in charges at Harrods Department Store, that seemed to benefit her more than her daughter. She made $29,650 in ATM withdrawals and paid $13,778 in bank charges — mostly overdraft fees.

“There is every reason to question whether and how (Jenkins-Hernandez) is applying the significant resources that should be available to pay for Avielle’s daily needs, including dance lessons, especially since all of her basic housing security and educational expenses are paid from the trust,” wrote O’Regan, a partner in the law firm Burns & Levinson, in a filing submitted on Schwartz’s behalf.

Schwartz was particularly concerned that Jenkins-Hernandez reported spending $39,655 on education — including $3,720 for Bay Path University, a private university in Western Massachusetts.

“Avielle is not in college,” wrote O’Regan, and her school bills are already paid for from the trust.

Jenkins-Hernandez also spent $12,830 on something called “Ask My Accountant.” Neither Jenkins-Hernandez nor her lawyer, would explain what that is or discuss any other specific expenditures.

Going forward, O’Regan argues, Jenkins-Hernandez should no longer be entrusted with funds for her daughter, who is eligible to receive the trust funds when she turns 25. Currently, the fund contains around $700,000.

“I believe that (Jenkins-Hernandez) has been co-mingling the child’s funds with her own,” wrote O’Regan in a court filing. ”I believe that Ms. Jenkins-Hernandez’s ongoing conflict, her almost five-year-long record of excessive expenditures, continuous violation of this court’s decree … and her failure to file an inventory and up to date accounts all indicate that despite what might be her best intentions, Ms. Jenkins-Hernandez is not effectively performing her duties as conservator.”

‘Stephen Curry: Underrated’ Documentary Set for Sundance Film Festival Premiere

image001 1

Sundance Film Festival revealed their 2023 autumn schedule today, which included Stephen Curry’s new documentary, Underrated. The documentary is directed by award-winning director Peter Nicks and produced by world-renowned Ryan Coogler and Erick Peyton.

The documentary takes an intimate look at NBA superstar Stephen Curry’s unlikely coming of age at tiny Davidson College, where the team had a thrilling run in the 2008 NCAA tournament under the tutelage of coach Bob McKillop. The film blends the Golden State Warriors’ attempt to win another NBA title after one of the worst seasons in franchise history, with access to Curry during the 2021 season.

With intimate cinematic cinematography, archival footage, and on-camera interviews, the documentary recounts Curry’s development from an undersized collegiate player to a four-time NBA champion as one of the most influential, dynamic, and unpredictable players in basketball history.

Stephen Curry: Underrated depicts Curry’s personal life as he juggles the pressures of his professional career while fulfilling his promise to his mother when he left Davidson early to declare for the draft: he would complete his undergraduate education. Nicks masterfully combines the parallels he discovers in Curry’s film footage as an aspiring athlete and as a professional basketball star to present the incredible narrative of a youngster who ascended from an undersized and unassuming high school basketball player to an NBA icon.

Jake Paul Reacts To Rumors Of $2.5 Million Fight With Tommy Fury

After a long time spent asking, it seems Jake Paul took things a step further to get Tommy Fury to fight him. Moreover, rumors had spread around the Internet that he offered Fury $2.5 million for a fight, after a few failed attempts. Recently, the Paul brother took to Twitter to make a cheeky statement concerning the boxer.

MIAMI, FLORIDA – DECEMBER 01: Jake Paul is seen on December 01, 2022 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by 305pics/GC Images)

“I cannot confirm nor deny this accurate statement,” he wrote. “What I can confirm is Tommy Fury is never going to see the kind of money he is being offered to step in the ring with me. And yet he’s still on the run.”

Readers likely remember that the last we heard from the two was a four-round knockout prediction from the British star. While this kind of money would probably entice most to fight, Fury has bailed out before. When he tapped out the first time, it was due to injury, and later had issues getting into the country.

Regardless, fans disagreed on the fight’s prospects and whether Fury should even engage. “It is wrong Jake Paul is the biggest name in boxing,” wrote one user on Twitter. “The sport should be ashamed. But fair play to the guy. Its no accident he’s at the top.”

Even with boxing purists shaking their fists at the podcaster and vlogger, they give him credit for the hustle. Also, he recently partnered with the Cleveland Browns as a member of their social media team. While boxing may be his main endeavor, he’s seeking a bag with everything he does.

Many respect that grind, even if seeing his name in Twitter replies can get exhausting. “Honestly think there’s just too much at stake for him,” said a faithful tweeter about Fury. “He can’t possibly bear losing to YouTuber Jake Paul. Forget the money, he could never look his dad and Tyson in the eyes again. He doesn’t want to take the risk.”

Still, what do you think of Jake Paul’s jabs at Tommy Fury and him putting up $2.5 million on this fight? Whatever the case, let us know in the comments down below. Also, as always, check back in with HNHH for the latest on this showdown.

Memphis Rappers Fresco Trey And Brezay Link Up For “Pull Up” Single

Southern hip-hop has been coming up in a big way as of late, with new artists emerging nearly every day to help push the movement forward. One name in particular who’s been standing out from the rest is Fresco Trey. To kick off 2023, he shared his “Pull Up” single, on which he nabbed a feature from another hometown hero, Brezay.

“My inspiration for ‘Pull Up’ really came from the vibe of Memphis,” the “Couple Hunnid” hitmaker explains in a press release. “We invited some local artists to come to the studio and vibe out. When I heard the beat, I jumped in the booth. Then my homegirl Brezay hopped on and killed it!”

He later added, “Since I’m fresh off a heartbreak, I thought it was time to tell all the women to PULL UP! You dig?”

Across the short and snappy track, Trey and Brezay take turns building off each other’s braggadocious bars. Their lyrics are only further amplified by the booming production pulsating under their voices.

Prior to sharing “Pull Up” to kick off 2023, the rising rapper kept his fans fed all throughout 2022. He and HotBlock Jmoe joined forces on “Blame On Us,” and before that, we heard him rolling solo on his moody “Vegan” track.

Other impressive collaborations to land last year are “How Many Times” with Nathan Davis Jr and “Enjoy It” featuring Einer Bankz. The latter follows Trey’s Heartbreak Diaries 2 EP, best known for titles like “Need You” and “24 Hours.”

Stream Fresco Trey and Brezay’s “Pull Up” on Spotify or Apple Music below. Afterward, tell us which rapper had your favourite verse in the comments.
