SZA Leads The Way With The Most Grammy Nominations, “Kill Bill” Nabs Song Of The Year Nod

SZA’s major 2023 is continuing with new recognition from the Grammys. Late last year she dropped her highly-anticipated new studio album SOS which instantly became a smash hit. The album sat on top of the Billboard 200 for weeks after it was released and spawned some of the singer’s biggest hits to date. Subsequently, her track “Kill Bill” took off immediately and lasted in the top of the charts for months including a week atop the Hot 100. As soon as its momentum began to slow down it was replaced in the top 5 of the chart by another single, “Snooze.”

Now, she’s at the very top of the list of Grammy nominees. She’s officially the most nominated artist at the 2024 Grammys, racking up a total of 9 nominations. Her nominations include Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Pop Duo Performance, R&B Performance, Traditional R&B Performance, R&B Song, Progressive R&B Album, and Melodic Rap Performance. In particular, she cleaned up nominations with her album SOS and her mega-hit “Kill Bill.

SZA Scores 9 2024 Grammy Nominations

Perhaps most notable of all her nominations is Song Of The Year. The nomination is for “Kill Bill” which has been quite an impressive critical darling. That’s on top of also being one of the biggest hits of the year. She’s joined by artists like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Lana Del Rey, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and more in the list of nominees.

This isn’t the only critical recognition that SZA has received recently. Earlier this week, Variety honored the R&B star’s massive year. They awarded her the title of 2023 Hitmaker Of The Year. SZA has also been atop the Billboard R&B Songwriters Chart all year. Her series of hits in the wake of SOS have kept her at the top spot on the charts for over 50 weeks. What do you think of SZA leading all other artists in Grammy nominations? Let us know in the comment section below.

Busta Rhymes And Young Thug Do “OK” On Their First Track Together

Busta Rhymes and Young Thug possess tremendous energy and flow. Both have provided us with amazing cuts over their respective careers. Even though the way they approach a track is quite different, it is sort of shocking that these two have never been on a song together. Additionally, they seem to be friends from an outsider’s perspective. Well, they have finally done it, as they team up for one of Busta’s singles for his upcoming album, BLOCKBUSTA.

The New York legend teased this song a couple of times on his social media, including Instagram. “NEW SINGLE #OK FT. @thuggerthugger1 DROPPING 11.10.23!!” The track features some star-studded production credits from Cool & Dre as well. It really has all the makings of an explosive collaboration.

Listen To “OK” By Busta Rhymes And Young Thug

However, it falls a little flat, unfortunately. That pains us to say that because both are so much fun to listen to. It just is a little too run-of-the-mill for these two. The beat is standard trap fare with some horn samples in the background. It sounds good to the ears, but it is a little too generic. Thug does not bring any of his animated flows and while Busta does rap fast, it is nothing new. Hopefully, though, they can work together again, because they have the potential for greatness.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand-new single from Busta Rhymes and Young Thug, “OK?” Do you think they did a good job together or is it just okay? Will this be the best song on BLOCKBUSTA? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Got ’em waitin’ for the truth, oh, Lord
See the way I be bakin’ the booth, oh, Lord
You don’t want it, on God (Give it to ’em)
N****, you get entangled, you better let ’em out
F****n’ with the beat, the p***y I’m stretchin’ out
Smoke a [?] you should test it out

Drake’s Astroworld Deposition Was “Several Hours” Long, Details Have Yet To Surface

As one of the most recognized figures in the music industry, it’s not uncommon for Drake to run into legal issues. For the most part, the 36-year-old manages to stay out of trouble more than some of his contemporaries, though his performance at the 2021 Astroworld Festival with Travis Scott has been haunting him for the past two years. As his legal team previously argued, Champagne Papi had no part in planning the actual event, though he was on stage with La Flame during a massive crowd crush that caused 10 people to lose their lives two years ago.

“I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” Drake wrote on his Instagram Story shortly after the incident. “I hate resorting to this platform to express an emotion as delicate as grief but this is where I find myself, My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and for anyone who is suffering. I will continue to pray for all of them, and be of service in any way I can. May God be with you all,” the Canadian further empathized.

Drake Deposed Two Years After Astroworld Tragedy

According to Rolling Stone, yesterday (November 9), Drizzy finally sat down for a deposition regarding the 2021 Astroworld Festival that lasted “several hours.” Details about the “Over” hitmaker’s conversation with authorities are sparse for now. “Due to orders in the case, I don’t feel it is appropriate to comment on the matter,” Drake’s team told the outlet when they reached out.

Many already know that the legal process is a typically slow-moving one. Aside from Drake’s deposition just now finally taking place, Travis Scott also has new lawsuits naming him. The father of two wasn’t given criminal charges by a grand jury. However, he still has several civil cases that have yet to wrap up. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Chris Brown Drops His 11th Album “11:11”

Chris Brown’s career can be defined in many ways, good and bad. We all know that by now. It is the classic question of, “Can you separate the music from the person?” However, there is one thing that is hard to dispute. Breezy has one of the best careers in the R&B genre of all time. That is a very high honor with all of the greats that are going now and the ones that have paved the way.

The Virginia native has just added to his legacy and discography with his 11th studio album, 11:11. This project had a pretty clever and on-the-nose rollout. Originally, Brown was going to drop the project on Saturday, November 11. It is quite rare for big-name artists to do such a thing, which is why it was no surprise he switched it to today.

In addition to that original plan, he was going to shorten the project to a concise 11 tracks. That would have been a massive far cry in comparison to how long his previous efforts have been. So, he made another last-minute call to drop the first 11 tracks at 11 p.m. and then another 11 at 11 a.m. But, the full album came out at the same time at midnight. Three singles were pushed out prior to the album. Those were “Sensational,” “Summer Too Hot,” and “Nightmares.”
