Beyonce’s new album COWBOY CARTER is a divergence into country music. Many fans were surprised she found inspiration in the genre, but the resulting album has received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. While she’s cited a variety of influences, some of whom even appear on the album, we got another reveal earlier this week. That came when one of her more surprising points of inspiration shared a gift she sent on Instagram.

That post came from Jack White, who has decades of influence in rock music with his bands The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, and his own solo material. White and Beyonce have actually worked together before. The pair teamed up for the beloved Lemonade deep cut “Don’t Hurt Yourself.” While he doesn’t appear to have directly worked on COWBOY CARTER, he was clearly an influence. He took to Instagram to show off a floral arrangement Bey sent him. “Jack, I hope you are well. I just wanted you to know how much you inspired me on this record,” a hand-written note attached to the flowers reads. Check out the present White received below.

For fans of Jack White it isn’t actually that much of a surprise that he inspired the record. White has long been a fan of country music, signing and reissuing country artists with his Nashville based Third Man Records. His band The White Stripes also played a cover of Dolly Parton’s classic tune “JOLENE” which also appears on COWBOY CARTER. He also served as producer on country singer Loretta Lynn’s 2004 comeback album Van Lear Rose.

Unsurprisingly, early projections for COWBOY CARTER claim the album is due to shoot directly to the top of the charts. It’s expected to hit number one on the Billboard 200. Rick Ross & Drake Drama Leaves Joe Budden In His Feelings

Joe Budden and Drake have had a lot to say about one another lately, and not all of it has been positive. However, the former did share on a recent episode of his podcast that there’s at least one artist that he’d be sad not to see Champagne Papi in the studio with anymore. While chatting with his co-hosts, Budden spoke about the apparent drama that’s unfolding between Drake and most of his contemporaries right now, noting that he wouldn’t be bothered by a halt in collaborations between the 6ix God and Future.

“I wasn’t the biggest fan of What A Time to Be Alive so who cares if Drake and Future never record again in my book. If Rick Ross and Drake are not rapping together no more, this hurts,” the 43-year-old said. “This is impactful. No more ‘[Aston Martin] Music’?” Budden asked in disbelief. As HipHopDX reports, the main clue right now as to why Rozay unfollowed his long-time friend is a tweet from Metro Boomin urging hip-hop heads to “pick a side” after dropping We Don’t Trust You last month.

Joe Budden Wishes for Drake and Rick Ross to Resolve Their Conflict

The former correctional officer appears as a guest on the collab album from the renowned producer and Hendrix, which also includes Kendrick Lamar’s feisty “Like That” diss aimed at Champagne Papi. Rather than jumping in the booth to respond, Drake went low by sending VIP tickets to Ross’ ex, Cristina Mackey during a recent tour date, and has been hinting at crafting the perfect comeback to his newfound opps.

At this point, it’s looking like Drake is feuding with many of his past collaborators, though we still haven’t exactly pieced together why. Earlier this week the father of one fueled rumours that he and Travis Scott are on the outs by appearing to “shoot” at a prop of the Houston native’s head while performing their “MELTDOWN” collaboration. Rod Wave Arrest: 25-Year-Old Reportedly In Florida Police Custody

Rod Wave is a talented artist, but unfortunately, the “Street Runner” artist’s legal troubles are holding him back from reaching his maximum potential. In May of 2022 he managed to have felony battery charges dropped after reports claimed he choked his then-girlfriend with children in the house. Since then, Wave has mostly been out of trouble, though blogs report that he was taken into police custody today (April 3) after weapons and/or ammo were found on his person. Due to his status as a felon, the performer can’t have guns in his possession, though it’s unclear what punishment he’s facing for his alleged crimes.

In a mugshot that’s making rounds, Wave looks solemn. Online, fans have endless questions about what this situation means for their favourite singer. “What’s the point of bodyGUARDS if you gon’ CARRY? SMH,” one user wrote beneath @theneighborhoodtalk’s post. “He gon be crying for an entire album bout this s**t,” another person speculated, hoping we’ll at least get new music out of the 25-year-old’s misfortune.

The last time Wave came through with a full-length LP was in September 2023, winding back the clock on Nostalgia. The 18-track effort mostly finds the Southern artist working on his own, though he did connect with Wet for the title track, 21 Savage on “Turks & Caicos,” and Sadie Jean on the final song, “2018.” In the past Wave has hinted at no longer making sad music, but now that his life has quickly turned upside down, we’re curious to see if he’ll be sticking to his promise.

Stevie J Compares Diddy’s House Raid To El Chapo & Osama Bin Laden

Stevie J says the use of police force during Homeland Security’s raids on Diddy’s properties was comparable to the assassination of Osama Bin Laden. He detailed being inside the Miami home at the time during an interview with TMZ published on Tuesday. He began by claiming that he’s never witnessed Diddy doing anything for which he is accused.

“I was at his crib in his studio,” Stevie said, referring to Diddy’s mansion in Miami. “I was sitting outside the studio door and I heard a big ‘Boom!’ I’ve witnessed some historical events of excessive force but none like this. Since Saddam Hussein or El Chapo or Pablo Escobar… even Osama Bin Laden. I heard a big boom … I heard it again. Turn my head I’m hearing, ‘Doo-doo-doo-doo.’ Three big armored vehicles come, dudes jump out. I got 50 dots on my shirt screaming, ‘Get on the fucking ground.’ They took me outside, I asked to speak to the higher-ups, asked who was under arrest and they said, ‘No, you’re being detained.’ ‘I want to speak to the higher-ups.’ They said, ‘No, you’re not [under arrest], we’ll let you go.’”

Elsewhere in the interview, he brought up 50 Cent and the G-Unit rapper’s continuous posting about Diddy. “Uncle Tom cats like that. Now you wanna put me– I don’t know if y’all saw the post 50 posted about me. Of course you guys saw that,” he said. “You can’t brush under the rug– I don’t see anybody reporting about what Tatted Up Holly said about him beating her up and about these other baby mommas, beating her up. I just look at it as, he wants to bring the Black community down worse than anyone else.” He also brought up his previous offer to fight 50 for charity.

Jonathan Majors’ Conviction Stands After Court Denies Motion To Drop Assault & Harassment Charges

In February, Jonathan Majors’ scheduled sentencing hearing was pushed back after his team filed a motion to vacate his conviction entirely. The defense reportedly felt as though insufficient evidence was presented at trial, that his charges were inconsistent, and more. Now, the court has shot him down, meaning he’ll be handed a sentence next week on April 8.

Earlier this year, the actor was found guilty of assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. His conviction could see him get up to a year behind bars, or depending on how the sentencing goes, probation. Majors has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, and post-conviction. “I was reckless with her heart, not with her body,” he said of Jabbari in an interview with ABC News‘ Linsey Davis shortly after his guilty verdict was revealed.

Jabbari isn’t the only one of Majors’ former partners to come forward with assault allegations in recent months, however. In February, his exes Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper went public with accusations of physical and emotional abuse. Duncan alleges that he once “threw her across the room” and “threatened to make sure she couldn’t have children” during a fight in 2016. Hooper claims Majors was “deeply controlling” throughout their relationship, which she was allegedly “not allowed to speak with anyone about.”

50 Cent Keeps Trolling His Ex Daphne Joy Over Diddy Lawsuit Allegations

In the wake of months of allegations against Diddy, 50 Cent has become the biggest troll on the internet. Even before the feds raided two of his properties last week, 50 was hard at work. He took to Instagram nearly every single day for months sharing any kind of anti-Diddy content he can get his hands on. That has also extended to anybody else who is pulled into the rap mogul’s orbit. 50 has repeatedly posted about Stevie J, even as he’s received threats of violence and a challenge to a fight from Stevie in response.

Unsurprisingly, Diddy also used the opportunity to go after his ex and the mother of his son Sire, Daphne Joy. Last month, producer Lil Rod filed a lawsuit against Diddy that made some of the most viral claims to date against the rap mogul. In repeated amendments to the lawsuit he’s called out more and more famous people for their alleged involvement with Diddy. That included Daphne Joy, who he described as one of the rap mogul’s “sex workers.” Consequently that’s exactly what 50 has been hung up on with his recent posts about joy. “It’s lunch time people here’s a little LSW theme music. Let’s stay positive and productive today” he captioned a recent Instagram post. “LSW” stands to little sex worker, which he’s repeatedly called Joy ever since the allegations first dropped. The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems like it’s done with Guardians of the Galaxy, especially since helmer James Gunn is running the show for DC’s films at Legendary and Warner Bros. But Zoe Saldaña was recently asked on the Playlists’s Discourse Podcast if she was “done” playing Gamora after the trilogy ended.

“I mean, so far, I think that she is [gone for good] for me, but I don’t think Gamora has gone for good,” Saldaña said in response. In addition to losing Gunn to DC, even Dave Bautista, who played Drax the Destroyer, said Guardians Vol. 3 was the last movie in that world. Saldaña suggested she’s not interested in reprising her role as Gamora, at least for now the character is still there and that means there are other stories to be told within the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with the new-ish multiverse.

“I would think it would be a huge loss for Marvel if they didn’t find a way to bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy,” Saldaña said. “It’s just such a fan-favorite group of misfits, you know? And then at the helm, they had a voice like James Gunn’s writing — which is just so marvelous for and very specific for this genre. And it’s so great for this genre as well. So, I would be the first one in the first row to sort of celebrate when the Guardians of the Galaxy come back.” 

Saldaña played Gamora in three highly successful unless you were under a rock. Guardians films, not to mention other Marvel movies, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Gunn ended “Vol. 3” with the creation of a new Guardians team that included the likes of Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Cosmo (voiced by Maria Bakalova) and Adam Warlock (Will Poulter). 

Even though Gunn left the story open-ended, Marvel has yet to announce any new Guardians films.

Fingers crossed for Guardians of the Galaxy, with or without Saldaña, but at least she’s down for the story to continue one way or another.
