Rod Wave Arrest: 25-Year-Old Reportedly In Florida Police Custody

Rod Wave is a talented artist, but unfortunately, the “Street Runner” artist’s legal troubles are holding him back from reaching his maximum potential. In May of 2022 he managed to have felony battery charges dropped after reports claimed he choked his then-girlfriend with children in the house. Since then, Wave has mostly been out of trouble, though blogs report that he was taken into police custody today (April 3) after weapons and/or ammo were found on his person. Due to his status as a felon, the performer can’t have guns in his possession, though it’s unclear what punishment he’s facing for his alleged crimes.

In a mugshot that’s making rounds, Wave looks solemn. Online, fans have endless questions about what this situation means for their favourite singer. “What’s the point of bodyGUARDS if you gon’ CARRY? SMH,” one user wrote beneath @theneighborhoodtalk’s post. “He gon be crying for an entire album bout this s**t,” another person speculated, hoping we’ll at least get new music out of the 25-year-old’s misfortune.

The last time Wave came through with a full-length LP was in September 2023, winding back the clock on Nostalgia. The 18-track effort mostly finds the Southern artist working on his own, though he did connect with Wet for the title track, 21 Savage on “Turks & Caicos,” and Sadie Jean on the final song, “2018.” In the past Wave has hinted at no longer making sad music, but now that his life has quickly turned upside down, we’re curious to see if he’ll be sticking to his promise.

As more information on Rod Wave’s reported arrest becomes available, we’ll be sure to share it with you. In the meantime, revisit our report on how the Florida native amassed his growing net worth at the link below. For more hip-hop/pop culture news, make sure to check back in with us later.

NBA YoungBoy Argues His Gun Charges Violate His Second Amendment Rights

NBA YoungBoy and his legal team are arguing that the gun charges he’s facing violate his Second Amendment rights. According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, the attorneys contested the fundamental legality of banning convicted felons from accessing guns.

“The government has not alleged that Mr. Gaulden was observed to be holding a firearm by any law enforcement officer (or any other witness), nor have any allegations been made that Mr. Gaulden was using a firearm in any unlawful way at the time of his alleged offense,” the rapper’s legal team wrote. “Rather, the government merely alleges that music video footage shows Mr. Gaulden possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony and for possessing a firearm which is not registered in the national firearms registration and transfer record.”

NBA YoungBoy Attends The Benjamin Crump Awards

They continued: “The government does not allege that Mr. Gaulden was posing a threat to anyone and cannot even allege that the suspected firearms observed in the video were functional or loaded when the video was recorded. This prosecution seeks to restrict and deny Mr. Gaulden’s Second Amendment right to possess a firearm based solely on his status [as] a felon and his alleged failure to comply with bureaucratic regulations requiring the registration of firearms into a national database.” The documents further argue that there is a “lack of a clear historical continuity between the firearm laws in effect when the Second Amendment was ratified” and the current system. They also add the state “cannot provide the historical analogues” to justify felony disarmament with firearm regulation in the U.S.

The argument comes as YoungBoy prepares to go to trial in the case in July. He’s been under house arrest since 2021. He faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and unlawful possession of an unregistered firearm. Be on the lookout for further updates on NBA YoungBoy on HotNewHipHop.

Crip Mac Arrested, Faces Federal Gun Charges

When Crip Mac went to Los Angeles County court on Tuesday (December 5), he ran into an unexpected problem. A judge agreed to drop gun charges against him stemming from a September 3 arrest for being a person with felony convictions in possession of a firearm. However, according to Billboard and an alleged indictment and court records, U.S. Marshals arrested N3on’s rival seconds after the judge ruled this. While the state charges were no more, they moved his case up to federal court and the U.S. Attorney’s office. Currently, the South Los Angeles resident and expectant father is reportedly held in pretrial detention, and his next scheduled hearing is set to take place on Monday (December 11).

Furthermore, shortly before the Marshals took Crip Mac in, the court looked at a two-month-old indictment against him. The For The Love Of Lena contestant faced charges of possession of an unregistered weapon and ten rounds of ammunition, which is especially illegal with his history of felony convictions. “Defendant possessed such ammunition knowing that he had previously been convicted of at least one of the following felony crimes,” the indictment read.

Crip Mac’s Gun Charges Move Up To Federal Level

What’s more is that he was also arrested on similar charges in July of 2022 and October of 2021. Crip Mac’s other arrests include for attempted second-degree armed robbery in November of 2017, grand theft in August of 2015, and transportation of a controlled substance in October of 2014. A California attorney unrelated to the No Jumper guest‘s case, spoke to Billboard about how this arrest, moving from state to federal jurisdiction, is common. “Sometimes, local authorities become frustrated by lenient sentencing for people who are prolific [offenders], so they request the feds review for prosecution,” Briggs explained. “This puts more prison time in the discussion.

“The worst case is he gets folded into a larger gang conspiracy and RICO case involving murders,” he continued. “In that case, it’s likely life in prison. It’s possible, depending on the specific facts of his case, he could do 10 years [for just the gun charges]. It depends on various individual factors.” We’ll see what will happen to the good friend of Adam22 in the coming weeks. For more news and the latest updates on Crip Mac, stay up to date on HNHH.
